  1. New Special Envoy for Somalia Says Successful Reconciliation Congress Biggest Challenge Somaliland.Org — Hargeisa, Somaliland — 20 May, 2007 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The United States' new envoy for Somalia, Ambassador John Yates, speaking to VOA by telephone from Nairobi, says that since the heavy fighting of three weeks ago has subsided, the biggest challenge is to make progress toward holding a reconciliation conference. "I think that what one could say now," he said, "is that we would like very much to see the cessation of hostilities that has been going on now for three weeks to be formalized into a more durable ceasefire, actually. And then the big challenge is to have an independent and successful reconciliation congress." Ambassador Yates says he is urging that negotiations continue so that a fair and independent reconciliation congress can take place that will map out the way to a new constitution and elections by 2009. "We are trying to encourage the Hawiyes in Mogadishu and to push, to push -- I'll use that word -- the Transitional Government, specifically Abdulahi Yusuf, to continue the political dialogue that they have begun, and we hope that they can reach some sort of rapprochement that will permit a fit, fair and independent reconciliation congress," he continued. Asked whether Somaliland, which has declared itself independent of Somalia, would participate in the congress, Ambassador Yates said it was unlikely, based on discussions he had last week with the foreign minister of Somaliland. However, he said some Somalilanders may participate through the clan-based selection of delegates. Speaking about the thousands of refugees that fled the fighting in Mogadishu and are now without shelter and other basic necessities, Ambassador Yates said he hopes a permanent ceasefire will allow people to return to their homes and in the meantime, the United States is urging the Transitional Federal Government to open up all the airports and to permit all food items to flow to the internally displaced persons. Source: VOA just like the way many previous staged reconciliation conferences, were never without bought/saleouts, claiming to represent somaliland. This too will not be an exception
  2. Yes, they are. Mooyaale [labadda qeyba ee Soomaali Galbeed iyo NFD ka tirsan] iyo Siyeeloow Soomaali waa degaan, iyagaana ku badan, oo la wadaago Booramaha in Mooyaale iyo Reer Diinle [Rendinle] in Siyeeloow. --------------- I dont know if things changed recently MR MMA but in this areas Somalis are les than 10%. Its only in some part of Moyale district that you can find an insinificant number of Garre the rest are Boranas their cousins Gabras and,Jankilas.Isiolo District iskadhaaf because the somalis have been displaced from the place long time Booran aa meesha katalisa. Coming to Marsabit District there is totally no somalis. We have Saaku area With Rendilles and boranas. Then we have Laashoor area for Gabras another Oromo Branch and Laisamis for rendilles. For your Information Reendiles dont reside in Isiolo. The rendilles(Reer-Diinle) are actually Somali Luntay and most have been converted to Christianity.
  3. Great insight Paragon. I am anxiously waiting for the next episode.
  4. Moyale, Isiolo, and Marsabit Are These Somali inhabited regions? i realy doubt.
  5. 'Afkuna wuu dheeryey, irbad dhuub magaliyaane'. MR Badda cas do you realy know the essence of the above line? If you know the Oral history and origin of those words, then you would know its offensive nature.
  6. An unidentified number of aircraft flew over Hargeisa, Somaliland several times at around 10 pm last night according to Somaliland's OGAAL newspaper. The paper reported that Somaliland's minister of Transportation, Mr. Ali Mohamed Waranadde confirmed the existence of the unidentified aircraft circling around the skies of Hargeisa at around 10 pm local time. The noise of the plane, flying in a medium to low altitude awoke the city residents as the plane continued to circle over the city several times for nearly an hour. Mr Waranadde said the aviation authorities tried to contact the plane or planes but did not get any response. The authorities were also unable to identify the number or the type of planes that flew over the city. The aircraft did not display blinking lights and were invisible in the dark skies over the city. Residents of other cities including Burao and Sheikh to the east of Hargeisa, also reported hearing similar unidentified planes flying over their cities and hour earlier. All scheduled civilian flights to and from Somaliland airports take place during the daylight hours since non of the airports is equipped with proper equipment and runways capable of handling night flights. Some people speculated, since there are no regular scheduled flights at night and these aircraft did not identify themselves, they belonged to the U.S. military based in nearby Djibouti and could have been on a mission to survey specific locations in Somaliland cities. Somaliland which declared independence from Somalia in 1991 is not recognized by any country.
  7. Wallhi thats a clownish statement. I dont know how any sane/literate person would read and accept that. The Statement Literaly says" We were asked by soamlis to come and save them from themselves. How does that soumd ? To me it sounds cynic indeed.
  8. Puntland is evidently accelarating the war cries While capitalising on the Dhahar blunder by the somaliland authoritie. Being the sole entity clean from terrorist accusation puntland would be a good TFG tool to engulf Somaliland into a conflict similar to that in Xamar.I dont know how it will turn out but Somaliland Patriots need to be carefull and play a sober political Game at this critical moment. About having the Eastern Sool and Sanaag Clans In the Alert i dont think that is a big deal because clans Of East and west of this areas know each other well when it comes to war and peace altogether. The oral history is a witness to this. If this Elders have in their conscience an Iota of Gobanimo and somali elderly Ethics they would have at least released some statements over the massacres taking place in Xamar .
  9. One month? I thought Jeelle said One to Three days.

  12. From reading the many threads in the political forum. From watching the somalis argue politics in the streets. From my observation and analyiss of the so called somali elites/Somali Elders/civic leaders/ Somali politcians/Somali clerics.I came to believe that Somalis are more enemy to each other than they are to Accupying foreign Forces. While this enemity and cuqdad goes on, neither side would gain the upper hand. The cosequence would be devastating and would affect many generations to come. The native indians were eliminated by the invading anglo Saxons due to same reasons their bitter rivalvary was unriconcilable. The invading powerfull europeans, who came with a mission capitalised on the situation. Although we say its hard for an african nation like Ethiopia to achieve such an accomplishment, but Remember they are being aided by the same Anglo Saxons. After work of extermination, they managed to take over the Land of milk and honey from Its indiginous Owners. Currently the remnants of the native indians have been reduced to Alcoholics dwelling in reservations. Likewise if we fail to act now,our future generations would be reduced to qaat addicts dwelling in an annexed territory.
  13. Saxib what we face is a dumb enemy who thinks they can out gun a real army. This is their downfall and the people are rejoicing. Subxaanallah!! The people are rejoicing did i read that right? Which ppl sxb the Refugees that are being trailed by the Ethiopians BM's
  14. comparing Siilaanyo with the Seyid is a gross exaggeration and an insult to a national icon As if the Sayid was clean and innocent of any atrocities.
  15. Somali Marine riches is exploited by arab neigbours while the ethiopians want to accupy the lands. This is a good move if the pld authorities would persue the legal procedures to the end.iam afraid. This will end with bribe and repuditions from Yemen and Egypt. Remeber Somaliland embarked on same operations sometimes ago and they let the ships go without even prosecuting the illegal fishermen. From that time henceforth never heard of illegal fishing boats having been aprehended.
  16. by DigibAc: goth xaarka iyo xalwada oo isku daraa. I dont understand what you mean by the above statement. You just potrayed the strange way of thinking by most of us, Somalis.Just because you despise someones previous opinion you never consider any of his future ones. This guy explained as it is, and i didnt see any exagerations. Its time we come to our senses peopple.
  17. Ta kale dee odaygu jiffi kamid jiffiyada sanaag degta yaa caleema saaratay hadda sidaa awoodiisu umadheera. Reer hargeysa dont like this guy actually. He once kidnapped a famous hargeysa trader and held him in ransom somewhere in sanaag. I remember in response, the hargeysa group kidnapped saleebaan gaal. Can anyone remember this incident? Some political anlysts says that the king was actually crowned through the Late cigaal political mechanism against his opponents in the east of somaliland..
  18. Bravo !!!! A good move and worthy fight That is. There is some activities taking place in the east of Berbera. some shaddy company have signed a cheap deal with the corrupt raayales administration. They are trying to do some ofshore drilling. This has to be stopped. Its time that the locals in this areas to act like the Brave somali brothers in Soomali galbeed.
  19. He is From Sanaag.I think either ceerigabo or Ceelafweyn.
  20. At least Mr gaildoon has clearly stated the the disputed tracts not being whole of Sool and Sanaag but just aportion of it (Eatern Sanaag) . This is what many would not know cause some call this area (SSC).I would advice them to add that Key word "EASTERN" to those cooked Abreviations.
  21. He is kind of arrogant ,,, the type of ppl who like to be the news headlines no matter what ,,,, Mr JB xaasidnimada Jooji sxb hadda magac doonkii boqorka aad usoodhigatay miyaa. This guy i believe has some charms he succeeded in reconciling the puntland antaginists maybe he can reconcile A/y and axmed diiriye too.Ta kale boqorada aflagaaddada kadaa, habaar yaanu kugudhicine.
  22. possible support of Eritrea and other forces. Maakhir can you pls shade us with some evidence about Eritrea relation with Somaliland. Secondly you cannot separate the two. The TFG and the so called intl community has labeled eritrea a terrorist aiding nation, so if at all it has relation with Somaliland then Geedi will have a point in the face of Somalia invaders. Lastly its well known that Berbera is totally under Ethiopian Utilization, hence i wonder how an eritrean shipment can unload at this port without their knowledge.
  23. Quote:ninkan waan fahmi waayay niyow ,,,,, Hadaad ninkan fahmi wayday, haddaba siyaasada soomalia weli maad fahmin.
  24. Your memory failed. That event was greatly exaggerated in order to cash-in the unfortunate Mogadishu Massacre. The real thing however was a non-event. It simply was Mogadishu destined people could not land there because the airport there was closed, so was to wait for a while things settle there. It was a matter of choice whether to continue to Hargeisa over Galkacio (not as save). We all know how nice Hargeisa is, don't we? Galkacio asks visa no-one, unlike the newly-found-friend of the south called Somaliland! -------------------- That dont make sense totally sxb come-up with something else
