  1. Xaaji....You are missing the point. The thing is we have secessionists glorifying the success of Somaliland (which is good thing if it's done in earnest) but then turn around and air incessantly all that's wrong with Somalia (which the world knows) or regions within Somalia, sadly little to show for their actions. Mintid....You are again not presenting anything new.
  2. Xiin...The problem with the secessionists is that they can't decide if they are their own country or simply another tribal state within Somalia. Mintid...Everybody knows including people you want to give some reality check. Even Faroole made an appeal to the world in order to fight piracy.

Of course this something we Somalis knew all along. You made an assertion here. Defend it or be on your way.
  4. ^Dear boy, countries send their navies to fight piracy off coast of Puntland and shipping companies pay higher insurance premiums because of piracy emanating from Puntland. Again, tell us something world doesn't know!
  5. ^The world has always been aware, it's you who thinks they are not. How does all this matter anyway?
  6. Mintid Farayar;928652 wrote: Pretty well, considering the obstacles. Somalis from the diaspora are primarily investing in 2 areas: Somaliland and Mogadishu(the city). The only difference is you won't get blown up in Hargeisa while sipping a cappucino. You are measuring yourself against a war-torn city which might soon left you in the dust should peace takes hold and money keeps pouring not in the international recognition and diaspora. Hargeysa has been peaceful for 20 yrs, surely it should be light years ahead of Mogadishu?
  7. How's being positive working out for Somaliland?
  8. ^Is it me or the pictures seem to be from the same location just different angles.
  9. Give it few weeks, the more things change in Somalia, the more it stays the same. The only thing they will get Ethios packing is serious unrest in their country.
  10. When I got on the train, my sup texted me saying two hour delay in opening the office. I am begining to hate this snowy weather.
  11. Ethiopia will stay intact for foreseeable future. There's simply no organized opposition that poses any real threat. The only threat that poses challenge is the mass displacement of hundreds of thousands of poor farms that they have no where to go. Regional rebel groups like OLF and ONLF have some capacity to challenge the status quo but they are too inept and they lack real leadership.
  12. On 3 March 2013 Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon stood before parliament and presented his government’s accomplishments of its first hundred days. Such a proactive strategy in itself is commendable. It shows an appreciation for institutional checks and balances, acknowledges parliament’s oversight role, and contributes to the establishment of an open and accountable governance system in Somalia. Furthermore, this preliminary exercise demonstrates that Somalia’s political leaders realize that citizens - through their representatives - expect rapid and tangible results. 13. Are you culpable if you choose to do nothing while somebody lies in front of you dying and you could have helped them?
  14. ^Igaaryaho joogso Roslindale? not too many of us there. You were barely in Boston itself. I think I can actually count how many times I have been to Rosindale over yrs lol. Well, Safferz will show you around when you come for school. You could thank SOL lool
  15. NP Safferz, Somalicentric. That's more like it:-) The community is good but lacks proper leadership. It can be more vibrant and involved if the right people were to lead.
  16. It is definitely the sort of opening that's gets you hooked. Funny and kind of true about martyrs. "when the tit's that big, everyone gets in line."
  17. ^Them? What are we woman? Saffarz.....PM me your email. I will connect you to one of the people there. I believe they are organizing an event this year for Somali students and professionals. It could be a good project to get involved.
  18. "There are two kinds of pain, sort of pain that makes you strong or useless pain, sort of pain that's only suffering. I have no patience for useless things" "I'm Not going to lie. I despise children. There I said it."
  19. The community is mostly concentrated in Roxbury, The place to start is the main mosque in Roxbury where there are always Somalis. Community here like everywhere else is dysfunctional but overall, they are good people. There's new student/professional group that is becoming effective, maybe your sort of crowd (assumptions). I know some students involved, I can connect you if you want? This would be good start. Mosque is located at 100 Malcolm X Blvd Boston, MA 02120. It's on the orange line right across Roxbury Crossing station.
  20. It's her last name. Four marriages and he was still married! Abusers are smart enough to isolate these women and make them dependent on them.
