  1. My mom makes the most delicious most amazing apple pie crumble ever. Hmm! I need to upgrade from just eating it to making it!
  2. Bluelicious;850444 wrote: Lol at habibti now that word I do understand, your so in the Arabic mood. I assume you can speak the language I have no interest in ever learning Arabic I will stick to only being able to read. Yeah once I get into it I can keep going. I understand it very well, but I speak broken arabic lol I get by. My cousins are actually half Egyptian, so I learned it from them. MashaAllah though it's great that you can read it. I'd do anything to be able to speak it more fluently, and at the rate I'm going I think I just might:)
  3. ^Blue my habibti! Mafish muskila= Like, ..Don't worry...there's no problem (It's egyptian arabic Ana Ahibak luqtal arabi= I love the arabic language:)
  4. I'm pleased and very excited to say, I am going! InshaAlllah! I got my tickets.
  5. Mafish mushkila:p Ana ahibak luqatal arabi.
  6. Chimera thanks for your insightful post. I'm actually very well capable of saying no to people I don't know or strangers. @ the lock, I thought about that but I just couldn't do it. It's just not me lol. Aaliyah thanks for your wise words hun, it reminded me of my older sister who's married comes to our house and says she wishes she was living with us again and reminds us of how one day we'll miss these moments. We can only do this to those we love, no stranger would obviously do this. However annoying they are, I will always love them and love doesn't always mean saying yes..It's ok to say no sometimes. (Reassuring myself:p...Now I just need to put it all into action.
  7. Am I the only one who thinks these 'soldiers' look like mannequins and not human.
  8. Juxa, actually it's both my younger and older sisters. I'm a bit of a neat freak, I gotta keep my stuff clean and organised. They are taking advantage of that. Blue Seriously your soo right I need to learn to say no and stick by it. I don't know why I find it so hard! But recently nobody even asks me, they just nick it off me. Lol Showqi...
  9. May ALlah pardon those young men who died, and grant their family strength to bear this tragedy ameen.
  10. It's my sisters mostly, and a few close friends who are like fam. They shop in my wardrobe like it's a shop. I just have trouble saying no....But after some of my stuff go missing I think I need to learn to master the art of saying no. I just don't know how..and even if I say it they never take me seriously, they just go ahead and do whatever they want with my stuff. Lol@ .whoever said dar u so gad I actually already do that, whenever I go shopping I always buy it in pairs. But when they ruin their stuff guess where they go tho? ...straight to my wardrobe.
  11. Why can't people just understand that I don't want them wearing my clothes or borrow it. They say i'm greedy and that I don't like to share. Buy your own flippin clothes and leave your eyes off mine! I don't like people wearing my clothes, if you do it, you might as well keep it. Specially when you won't even take care of it. Oh and my shoes, why on earth would anyone ever wear someone else's shoes is soo beyond me, that's so unhygienic seriously how ridiculous is that. If someone doesn't even respect their own clothes, and throws it on the floor, never puts it in the wash, and thinks they can shop in my wardrobe and just pick clean clothes and run off with it, only to find it under their bed a week later. How about I wake up and someone just took my new sneakers, because they couldn't find their other shoe...seriously I can't take this anymore. Arghh! -Rant over-..
  12. He's probably the one in the middle with the ilkaha da der.
  13. Omg He was almost shacking it right therr! haha.
  14. Fazliyah;848636 wrote: Envy can be seen as a positive thing, but the example you provided doesn't support your claim. Envy is a good thing when it propels us to compete with our brother and sister in things that are good; for example, if it causes us to better ourselves islamically. Let’s say your neighbor prays more than you or is spiritually better, and your envy of his good actions pushes you to better yourself. In this case, envy would be a good thing. However, materialistic or mundane things such as your example wouldn’t be a situation where envy is good. Islam teaches us not to be envious of the things our brother have, but the good they do. True, I totally agree. In Islam it's not permitted to envy people for what they have, but it's permitted to envy a person for their piety i.e righteousness etc which benefits one in the hereafter. MashaAllah and who wouldn't wanna be like the righteous as they remind us of Allah.
  15. Welcome Nudawn, I hope you'll have a pleasant stay.
  16. I'm officially not watching this ****** euro cup anymore.
  17. Xawaji in our household or in our part of Somalia, is called =Cumin. We don't call xawaj seasongs/spices. Valenteenah I use to drink that tea in Turkey. I tried looking for it in the Turkish stores here they don't have it. I Love all the flavors that dogadan does. My favorite spices that go in my tea are : Heyl, qorfo and dagayaro. I also love sanjabil=ginger but I don't like that in my somali tea, I like to make a different tea out of that. Another spice I must cook in my food is Coriander= kabsar caleyn. Without it I'm not eating that food lol.
  18. BN you definitely should mate!=) Chimera Lol ..Is that a good thing?
  19. I lived in turkey for an entire year, Istanbul to be exact as an exchange student. I just got back two weeks ago. I had the best time of my life there. I had some of my friends from my school with me so I wasn't completely alone but I was the only Somali in my group. I must warn you about a few things... Turkish people are outrageously curious, just like Somalis but just a tad bit worse. Nothing is off limits for them! Anything that comes to their mind, they will ask you. During my stay there I got stared at, pointed at by everyone, literally EVERYONE lol. They will stop what they are doing and just shamelessly stare at you. My Turkish friends reassured me that it's because they love what they see, otherwise they wouldn't be starring. I learned this was true after a few months down the line. But at first you gonna be like 'why they all starring at me' relax they are just marveling at your beauty. Turkish people love brown/olive skin, everywhere I went the Turkish women would circle around me and literally touch my skin and say chok guzal ai ai lol which means oh beautiful nice. I had strange old women pinch my cheeks and kiss me all over my face meh. At times it was overwhelming. Turkish people love Somalis, and they all know about the famine that happened. Everyone who asked me where I'm from and when I said Somalia, they all wanted to know if the money they sent came to the right hands! A lot of you don't know this but most of the money that came out of turkey didn't all come from the government but out the pockets of Turkish citizens who took it upon themselves to fill forms and send money directly. You will find people from all over the world in Turkey, but not many blacks. Some Turkish people have what I call 'The shoe face' they just show no emotion and come across arrogant. But I found that some of those same people surprised me at times when they offered to help me with my luggage or allowed me to cut through the queue. Turkish people will protect you at their expense if you are ever wronged. No bystanders will watch it like Europe or America where every man/woman is selfish and will mind their business. Turkish people have a lot of pride! Can we blame them they used to rule the world. One thing I must mention is Turkish men's immense respect for females. I never stood on a bus/ underground, the men will never let a woman stand they will all get up to offer you their seat. MashaAllah. And no man is ever allowed to talk rudely to a woman if he does he gets jumped by all the men. I was a witness of this several places, women there are empowered! Don't travel alone unless you are ready to be wooed by their Turkish men, they will not waste a chance to speak to you. The best thing about Turkey is hearing the Azhan! MashaAllah, there's a mosque every corner. I haven't seen any Somalis in turkey, none. If you have any questions do ask.
  20. Baydhabo baby! And yeah I'm biased cause my family is from there.
  21. ^Grumpy old men like you lot, shouldn't be allowed to come out the politics section. You just suck the life out of everything like a black widow. Somalia, Nandos is way better. Lol rudy, thanks homie.

Ma anaa waalan? markaan waxaas cunaa"(Loosely translated as, "I dont eat that junk") And he wouldve left you alone. He just assumed the chicken was mine. I think it sat towards the middle of the table, but still he Should've made excuses for his fellow Muslim. Lol@ the prolonged maya maya maya

Alpha Blondy;842844 wrote: haha...quite clearly you've entertained this random strange and probably alot more 'wastemans', so how can you say you wont entertain me. i've seen uk somali girls like you before. looking down on somali man, thinking you're better than 'them'. girls like you 'other' somali men as if they have some type of fungal infection or open pours on their lips and foaming at the mouth. call a spade a spade somaha? in that case the only encounters i've had with girls like you was to ignore their lusty eyes gazes and what have you. dressed in my TM Lewin expensive suits and reading the FT or one of those broadsheets, i usually ignore them and give them this 'look of disgust and repulsion'. I'm not from the uk, nor have I ever lived there. You are nothing but a miserable individual who thrives on negativity and does everything out of spite. If anything I feel sorry for you, and hope that life will be a lot more kinder to you so you won't have to abuse your poor keyboard that violently.
