Blue I don't think I've told you, but when I went to Turkey I paid a lil visit to his grave in Konya (where he passed away). It's amazing how many people come there from all over the world just to see where he lived and died. I stood by his grave, being a big fan It was a magical experience to be there. I will never forget it.=)

That's so beautiful and humbling, thanks for sharing that Bluey.
  3. I see a lot of future nursing home residents at play here.
  4. Shinbir thanks for the clarification. aero lmao! That was so funny lol, thanks for sharing I'm familiar with a lot of things you mentioned. Wyre you shouldn't say it's not Af somali, simply because you don't know what it is. You are clearly from a part of Somalia where they don't use that phrase. You just learned something new, you are welcome.
  5. ^ che your one to talk, all you did on this thread was stereotype and be judgmental. Now your telling me about stereotypes get over yourself. And as far as the personal census I've conducted is concerned it's legit and factual. I wish it was otherwise but it is what is.
  6. Everywhere I went from America to Europe to the South pacific that was the case. Sad, but true.
  7. If you haven't read the hobbit book yet you should it's so worth it.
  8. Somalis and their double standards. I'm sure we all know that many Somali brothers marry reverts and I don't mind one lil bit. I'm happy for them. As for the person who said Somalis in mixed marriages will regret it later in life. Are the people who marry only Somalis all happily married? Another Question I want to ask; why is most of the Somali community raised by Somali women only, where are the Somali fathers? I'm very fortunate that I was raised by both my parents and they're still married and live together alhamdulilah. If you look in the Somali community 90% of Somali households consist of a single parent. However strangely enough the men seem to still be fathering more children. Which obviously means the men are just there to make the babies but the women take care of it, raise it. 98% of these familes the parents are still married Islamically. Which makes no sense to me, cause that's not even allowed in Islam. If you exceed a certain length of time away from your spouse in Islam the marriage is declared void unless you have a valid reason. You want to know why some young people are so adamant to marry out the community, all you gotta do is pay a close look at your community and see what they're choosing not to become. A lot of Sister's weren't raised by their father, so who are they suppose to look up to and what men will they pick as a husband, when their fathers were never present in their lives. I think there are many underlying issues that we blatantly seem to be avoiding collectively, its about time we quit being in denial if we want to see change that is.
  9. ^ I have a Pakistani friend called 'Nas'. lol
  10. Be careful not to say the following words around Non-Somali English speaking people... Shid= On...eg; Nalka shid (I hope I don't need to explain why... The other day I was shopping with my mom, when we returned back to the parking, she remembered she forgot something. She sent me to go back and kept saying to me repetitively 'fak iyo fak so deh' this older woman walking by gave us the evils I think she thought my mom said the eff word subhanaAllah. So those of you who say fak fak a lot, think twice! I'm sure there's more words that you can all add so others know. It'll save us some embarrassment.
  11. What in the planet of zog did I just witness, ohh em gee! Is she for real?! Her qaxooti accent and her crazy facial expressions were quite entertaining tho haha.
  12. This thread wasn't about me duh! That's why I said 'Hypothetical Question' Nosyyyy Somalis. (edit)- Chimy I can't see the video cause of my phone now, but I checked out the lyrics lol why would I ever be singing that.
  13. Said I hate you to someone you really loved? And you just feel not brave enuff to admit you love them so you just pretend you hate them? Just a hypothetical question.....
  14. This was nice to read, Hamza's FB and comments Voltaire, the French enlightenment writer, historian and philosopher was famous for his wit, anti-Theism/religion and for his advocacy of civil liberties. He used to hate Muhammad (pbuh) and even wrote bigoted plays about him(pbuh)... (I won't paste the plays writing, as it's really offensive) ... or at least did hate. His views "changed and evolved" as he learned more about the great Man(pbuh), as he was quoted writing this about Muhammad (upon whom be peace): "Of all the legislators and conquerors, there are none whose life was written with greater authenticity and in more detail by their contemporaries than was than of Mahomet." EM, vol 1, page 255. "He is admired for having turned himself from a camel merchant to a pontiff, a legislator and monarch, for having united Arabia, which had never been united before him, and for having made the Roman Empire tremble for the first time." De l'Alcoran et de Mahomet, page 340. "His definition of God is of a more truly sublime sort." Notes marginales, vol. 4, page 664. -- Taken from "The Enlightenment Qur'an: The Politics of Translation and the Construction of Islam" by Ziad Elmarsafy. To give more of an overview - Evolving views of Islam and its prophet, Muhammad, can be found in Voltaire's writings. In a letter recommending his play Fanaticism, or Mahomet to Pope Benedict XIV, Voltaire described the founder of Islam as "the founder of a false and barbarous sect" and "a false prophet",[32] a view he revised upon further research for his Essai sur les Moeurs et l'Esprit des Nations." [source] "In the essay on morals , Voltaire "makes a judgment almost entirely favorable" about Muhammad and "show full of praise for the Muslim civilization and Islam as a rule of life" 3 . It thus compares the "genius of the Arab people" to "genius of the ancient Romans' four and wrote that "in our centuries of barbarism and ignorance, following the decline and tearing of the Roman Empire, we received almost all of the Arab astronomy, chemistry, medicine, " 5 and that "in the second century of Muhammad, it was necessary that the Christians of the West among Muslims instruisissent" 6" [source] Subhanallah, look at how much his views changed. Just upon a little more sincere research, his heart, at the very least changed towards our beloved Rasool(pbuh). Reminded me of this hadith; The Messenger of Allah gave Sufwan ibn Umayyah three hundred grazing animals after the battle of Hunayn. Sufwan later said, "By Allah, the Messenger of Allah gave what he gave me while he was the most hated of people to me, and he kept on giving me until he was the most beloved of people to me." (Muslim) I guess it shows that even the biggest of Islamophobes and haters, who are like talking to a wall... can one day change their perceptions of Islam and the Prophet(pbuh) upon learning and doing some sincere research.
  15. ^She wasn't sent out on her own! According to very close sources; The girl was playing with a group of children outside the house, when the children all went back home, the lil girl was called by her older brother. According to him she was behind him following, but she got delayed. When the brother looked back he said I called out her name and she was gone. We still don't know what really happened to the girl, and where she was for the odd 20 hrs she was missing. That information hasn't been released yet, but we know she's safe and alive Alhamdulilah.
  16. Omg I know the family! We didn't sleep last night, I talked to her family this morning and heard she's been found. Alhamdulilah! Allahu Akbar.

  18. I don't know about the running away, but someone should really investigate this fashion crime. *eek* On a more serious note; I wonder what they were really running from, maybe that Somali journalist who went to turkey in the past to interview the students should heed back and give us a report on what's really going on.
  19. Wasalam Sister May Allah shower his blessings/mercy upon your forthcoming marriage, and make you towards one another the way rasululah (saw) and aisha (ra) were to each other ameen.
  20. Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy! Woaah! I was quite impressed at the speed I read that, does this mean I am a genius? Nice to have you back blue:)
  21. Smh @ The whole crowd trying to speak to the man all at the same. Seriously, that right there is something we need to stop. It's a universal thing that happens everywhere Somalis gather (literally) they all wanna talk at the same time. I also didn't like the aggressive/threatening nature of the Somali dude who was leading the crowd. There's nothing assertive about pounding your chest and jumping all over the place. Good on them though for looking out for the Sister.
  22. ^lol @ shah kulul cab hadi kuleyl ku hayo. That's interesting. It's also true, that people who cover their skin in the heat are less likely to suffer than half naked people who think they have better chance of staying cool if they expose more skin.
