1. Safferz don't be disheartened by these unsupportive brothers. This campaign is much bigger than that German academic and the journal, and it sends a clear message to those cadaans who believe we can't think for ourselves and study our own people.
2. I admire this young lady's energy and courage. Mr Hoehner was very arrogant, racist and condescending in his remarks and its great to see this show of solidarity from young Somali scholars. A lot has been done, said and written in our name. It is high time we took charge of our own destiny and this is one big way of doing that.
3. Whoever started this campaign did an excellent job and I commend her and the other contributors for their bravery and patriotism. I think the next step will be to launch our own journal of Somali/Somaliland Studies perhaps with the same name as this cadaan-launched one, or with a slight variation. I'll be happy to help in any way I can. Kudos Safferz :-)
4. @gooni said: Barre hiraale he is good man soft spoken very religion intelligent, open hart and brave as well. You can promote your own warlord as a black bearded lion, or Harvard economist and wealthy golf player. Is not good to oppose other people’s president and call him complicated warlord, every tribe has their own leader, still we denying having one president and one country, fallow me is not like fallow each other. What is bothering me is youngster who doesn't know the situation in their country well, and don’t know how to clean their mouth chocolate. He is not complicated, he is just a common warlord whose time is up.
5. They should have been in Southern Somalia or Puntland just to see how bigger clans in those areas overrun the smaller ones. Talk of ungratefulness!
6. @Che -Guevara said: Somalee. What's real situation in Xamar? Our people tend to either exaggerate or diminish progress back home. Things have really changed in Xamar. The streets are very calm and there is an aura of peace around the entire city. There are according to the locals certain places and districts you should avoid like Towfiq, Suuqa xoolaha, Bakaaraha etc because of the alleged presence of many shabab militants in those areas. Currently xamar exceeds the expectations of every new person. We all have a certain perception of how bad things are in Xamar but this changes once you set foot here. There are ongoing constructions all around the city. There are excellent hotels and restaurants, new apartments being built and the roads built by the Turkish government are excellent, the new airport is magnificent and the new Digfeer (now Erdogan) hospital is already being regarded as a leading regional hospital. I also noted lots of private universities in the city and young men and women of Mogadishu have filled these institutes. Everyone you talk to tells you this is the best period they have seen in xamar for a long time. All these fill me with hope. Of course there are the occasional suicide missions and targeted killings but it seems like this hasn't deterred the people at all and this is really important. The only way to undermine and demoralize the terrorists is not to stop. They can't kill us all.
7. She looks like a normal regular woman. Mogadishu is growing at an alarming rate, but these things seriously undermine the ongoing developments.
8. He got what he deserved.
9. Your hatred is not for the Somaliland Administration but for a particular clan. It is clearly visible in all your posts. You must be enduring a very painful existence with all that hatred inside you. It is one thing to criticize, and it is totally different to have such sheer hatred and ill will towards an entire clan.
10. How can you refer to the entire state of Puntland as "The Pirates". Just so you know SNM is not offensive at all, in fact most Somalilanders are proud of the SNM history and some even falsely call themselves ex-SNM/ex-mujahid because there is prestige and honor associated with it. So much negativity going on in the forums..
11. @Mooge said: Faysal habeenkii Eagle clan bu ku qarwaa. niyoow, maalin walba reerkasu ka qaylinaya. lol Eagle clan? Lol. There's that silly conviction by your people that you might be Allah's gift to humanity.
12. Mooge, you must be thinking there is a positive correlation between the demise of Somaliland and the rise of Puntland. You know you can successfully propagate Puntland without necessarily trying to soil Somaliland. There's absolutely no relationship between the two. Try it!
13. All the 'expats' of Yemen waxaa isku dhaama hal sheikh oo khaliiji ah oo maal gashada :-D
14. 45% of females aged 16-24 despised sex? This is serious. This not normal for a healthy person in that age group and 45% is almost half the population.
15. It is the absence of a better alternative rather than conviction in the existence of a God that some of these scientists reject the big bang theory. They clearly see such an absurd theory is not sufficient to explain the existence of the universe, but on the other hand they do not fully acknowledge the existence of Allah. Belief in Allah only comes through Allah's guidance. Qur'an 6:39 ....Allah sends astray whom He wills and He guides on the Straight Path whom He wills
16. She looks just like those little Indian urchins, only much uglier. I didn't bother reading past the "charity fundraiser".
17. As bleak as this sounds, it's a stark misrepresentation of the current developments ongoing in Somalia and the capabilities of native Somalis. 1. You only need elevators for very tall buildings and there are not many in Somalia and 2. Somalis (from Somalia) in East Africa own very nice hotels and buildings fitted with both elevators and escalators.
18. Its not 'uunsi'. Uunsi is that artificial and concocted thing, mostly made from colognes. This is called foox or luubaan.
19. Even if there was to be an honest pursuit of a united Somalia again, Hassan is not in a position to initiate it. Nor are the tribal warlords currently in the South masquerading as Somali nationalists. I'm still waiting to see an honest, peace-loving Konfurian politician. They just do not exist.
20. Lol @ Al-Shabab capturing Mombasa. That is far-fetched. Some of the predictions are pretty obvious, like the Ethiopian elections and the failure of the Somalia-Somaliland talks.
21. Darul Mustafa Tarim, Hadramawt in Yemen. This is by far the best Islamic institute in the Muslim world today. Real Islamic knowledge with the correct aqeedah and a significant number of foreign students from all over the world. I'm not sure though how the security situation in Yemen has affected the place.
