1. Somalis have traditionally condoned beating up of children, sometimes severely, on the pretext of instilling discipline. It started at homes and got worse at the malcaamadda/dugsi qur'an and I swear some of those teachers were just mindless child abusers. This very unfortunate incident has roots in that culture. I hope the monster who did this is charged and convicted but I highly doubt it will happen.
2. Horta soo dhaweynta waad ku mahadsantahay. Xagee lagu soo dhawaanayaa, Koonfur? Puntland? Galmudug? Jubbaland? Lol. Maxaadna u heysaa Somaliland?
3. I'm 100% sure that even if Somaliland is dissolved first thing tomorrow morning and decides to join Somalia, you won't stop hating. Yours is not just political opposition, its pure hatred.
4. This is very sad to watch. I particularly got scared when the last cop literally threatened to kill that little boy. Kenya is going to the dogs real fast but I must say the Kenyan public is extremely tolerant compared to other African countries with a significant Somali population, at least with regards to physical violence. I'm sure many Kenyans are filled with hate for Somalis/Muslims now, but they haven't acted on it yet. For instance, if Al-shabaab carried out attacks in Addis Ababa (like they did in West Gate) or killed a large number of Ethiopians like in Mandera, the reaction of the Ethiopian public would have been unimaginably horrific. They would have simply massacred the Somalis residing in Addis.
5. Or lets guess how long the next pm will last. I say 7 months..
6. Totally concurred. Our brothers in Puntland are doing great too, but they are not as tolerant towards Southerners as Somaliland is. I think generally Somaliland and Puntland are sort of the last hope for Somalis.
7. Somaliland has been the de facto last hope of many Somalis since the collapse of the government. This has been proved time and again by the influx of Somalis from southern Somalia to Somaliland every time there is a renewed conflict in the south, and some have even permanently settled there. The people of Somaliland have been a good example to the rest of Somalis in many fronts. Only people who are blinded by qabiil hate choose to ignore this. I believe that if there was ever an attempt at achieving a united Somalia again, Somaliland would be the perfect neutral ground to hold peace and reconciliation talks between all Somalis.
8. Already three prime ministers in one term, and maybe it doesn't even stop there. What kind of a person does the president want?
9. @Saalax said: Of course. One of the reasons many Somalilanders fought Siad Bare was because of some of those injustices. And what were the contributions of this particular community with regards to the fighting of the injustices of Siad Barre? Do you know what side of the fight they were on? And what their suldaans used to say those days?
10. They had the presidency for almost a decade and now the vice president, and this is after their very dark history in the region during the Barre administration. This surely has got to be the most ungrateful community within the Somalis. Very small in number and they feel entitled to much more than their fair share.
11. @thefuturenow said: Malistar, Xaji Xunjuf and a few others may be the only useful people on this forum. They share good news and support our leaders. Some of you spew hatred and clan superiority camouflaged as political analysis. And the rest of you think this is calaacal.net. Always talking about how one this or another that is stopping your region from being admired by white people. Is that all you aspire to? How about spreading some good news from all regions and sharing the success of those leaders? Or how about wishing the President and the cabinet the best---are they not from all regions of Somalia? Do they not represent all Somali communities? Aren't they all in Xamar? Aren't they working and succeeding at their jobs as Malistar shows us every day? Some of you believe that Somalia would be ruled better if the capital is moved or a different group was given all power in the capital. How ironic! It is like a man with a barren farm saying that if he was given another man's farm he would surely make it bear fruit. How silly to believe that man! Gentlemen, we all share one barren farm. Let's stop with the pettiness and make something of it. First of all, foreigner doesn't mean "white people" but all non-Somalis including our closest neighbors. It bothers us when we all get tarred with the same brush because the Somali identity is associated with Mogadishu. Its like 2 brothers, one of whom is trying to behave well while the other is not, and the rest of the world judging them based on the latter's demeanor. We may all share one "barren farm" with regards to relative lack of resources and well-functioning institutions but you can't turn a blind eye to the fact that some of us have since the collapse of Barre's regime shown more desire to pick up ourselves.
12. @HawdMan said: For 20 years now the somali people and name have been held to ransom by elements in your people . Truer words were never typed. The blue flag, the name Somali, the national capital and the entire Somali identity has not only been tarnished beyond repair but continues to suffer because of our HAG brothers. Few foreigners recognize the efforts of the good people of Somaliland and Puntland because everything associated with the word "Somali" has and continues to be effed by our brothers.
13. @Libaax-Sankataabte said: Hello Somalee Which account are you referring to? Your Gmail account? Both the G-mail and Hotmail accounts. The G-mail takes some time before there's a successful sign-in, and they notify me often about any suspicious activity, but the Hotmail is worse. No notifications and there are successful sign-ins just hours after I change passwords, security questions and everything.
14. Its impressive what the people of Puntland are doing for themselves. Especially the current Gaas administration. Kudos!
15. @galbeedi said: Something is wrong about this young blood thirsty sociopaths in the SOL. Here this kid can't wait to join the torture of this women regardless of her crimes. She is a prisoner of war. I do not know what you could gain by mutilating or beheading. Cajiib.... Nothing socio-pathic or bloodthirsty about my comment. My choice of words may not have been very appropriate, but this is a comment made during a period of heightened emotions amidst the capture of a Zionist mercenary in a Muslim land. Get over it! Regardless of how it is achieved, killing her will rid this world of one more Zionist. @DoctorKenney said: Are you actually advocating torture? Are you seriously kidding here? Yes. Painful and slow, probably televised. She is not a human being, she's a Zionist pig.
16. @Tallaabo said: Lool :-D I think before any bombing raids are carried out, he has to deal with the minor problem of finding fighter jets given their high prices and the on going UN sanctions . Erdogan's on generous 'mode' right now. He could easily give a couple of jets (maybe old versions) to Qoslaaye who could in turn use them to aerially enforce his policies :-D. Any move to tip the balance of power in such a manner can be disastrous.
17. @DoctorKenney said: That's true bro. Because we Somalis don't have a "victim mentality" which many Negroes tend to have. Somalis tend to be ambitious risk-takers who couldn't give a damn what any racial group thinks of them. We need to set standards for behavior and attitude. Making excuses for bad behavior is only going to excuse it, and make it seem acceptable. If you want this bad behavior to stop, you need to shame it and help Negroes change themselves for the better I don't think we are in a position to 'set standards' while we ape them in many aspects of their culture but I agree there are many positive things we can contribute as Somalis. First being dacwah :-)
18. The Italians/Ethiopians don't compare here and you know it. Unless of course they stayed in Somalia, took all the important jobs, outnumbered us, degraded us to second class citizens/subhumans etc etc. You seem to dwell on their current state of affairs (And I don't condone the violence and all that) while I happen to view it from a different perspective i.e., the historical factors that have led to the present situation. Lets agree to disagree here.
19. The list of things IS can do to this woman is endless. What gives her right to assume the moral high ground? She was a soldier in a military known for killing children and women. I call upon the IS terrorists to really take their time with her, and be very creative. Beheading is so overrated, this is the right time to give cruelty a new meaning. And I'm so looking forward to it!
20. @DoctorKenney said: Are you trying to tell me that those in Ferguson who destroy their own community, loot the businesses, set fire to multiple businesses, and harass civilians are not "children in adult bodies" Please educate me "somalee".....how would you classify these people? P.S. And BTW, maybe you haven't been paying attention to my posts on this forum. But I'm very difficult on Somalis, and even on my own sub-clan. I--and many other members here--have criticized Somali behavior many times on this forum. I don't act as if Somalis are perfect, we have our own set of deep issues which we need to fix. But on the whole, Somali-Americans are far better-behaved than the people you see in Ferguson (which is NOT indicative of the entire Black-American community, but a prominent subsect of people within it) The actions of the people of this town that you've described are obviously abhorrent and unjustifiable, but they are very understandable. Its relatively easier to pass judgement when you lose sight of the root cause of this whole incident. This goes way beyond the shooting of one or two young black men. The black community has been pinned down by the system for far too long and they have endured years of systematic institutional violations of basic human rights. Every bad thing you see within the black community: gangs, violence, prisoners, aggression etc etc are a direct result of the way they have and continue to be treated by the government and the white people of America.
21. Thank you Mr Erdogan, your intentions are pure and good. Now lets hope Qoslaaye doesn't use these nephews of his to bomb an 'enemy' clan.
22. @DoctorKenney said: That's true. A large number of British Somalis visit Hargeisa often, corrupting the locals and teaching them how to behave in the worst manner. I've seen this first-hand with my own eyes. Somali parents send their troublemaker son or daughter to Somalia, usually Hargeisa because it's the best city in Somalia , and then these British Somalis introduce the locals to the worst aspects of Western society; sexual promiscuity, marijuana and alcohol usage, gangsta rap, etc. Somali parents had a hand in this, they wrongly assumed that by sending their awful children back to Somalia, that they'll reform and change themselves. Instead, what often happens is that the locals are poisoned with a disgusting, destructive, foreign culture. Very true. I've had the misfortune of meeting a few of them too. Most of these lost youth come from broken homes. For instance, I will be very surprised if any of these men wasn't raised by a single mother.
23. This is extremely unfortunate. The filthiest, most morally corrupt Somali men and women are found in the UK. What bothers me most is that these utter scumbags might come back to Somalia one day.
24. @DoctorKenney said: What makes anyone want to invest in these communities if this is how they're gonna behave whenever they're upset about something? They're like a group of children in adult bodies. They have absolutely no logic, they can't connect dots. They don't see how these vicious actions will have dire consequences for their community . A Somali who fled to the US precisely because of these things he's accusing the blacks of, and perhaps even worse. In fact worse because in our case there was neither centuries of slavery nor racial prejudice. Painting the entire black community as inherently stupid is not only stupid in itself but also very hypocritical, especially coming from a Somali immigrant.
