  1. Irony by Thomas Lux A hand grenade – thunk – lands in a bunker. Two brave men dive to smother it with their helmets and bellies, their heads collide, both are knocked out and seconds later die in the unmuffled blast: hard irony, a device we turn to when each door, hatch, gate, path we turn to opens to the blank. And it can make us laugh, which is good, human. And it says one thing when it means another, which we love: it's safe there, one foot on each side of a crevasse, one can be both numb and acute, brave and fearful, at ease in a mink-lined noose: we love this tool and the comfort, the justice, it provides, it provides.
  2. I Knew A Woman by Theodore Roethke I knew a woman, lovely in her bones, When small birds sighed, she would sigh back at them; Ah, when she moved, she moved more ways than one; The shapes a bright container can contain! Of her choice virtues only gods should speak, Or English poets who grew up on Greek (I'd have them sing in chorus, cheek to cheek). How well her wishes went! She stroked my chin, She taught me Turn, and Counter-turn, and Stand; She taught me Touch, that undulant white skin; I nibbled meekly, from her proffered hand; She was the sickle; I poor I, the rake, Coming behind her for her pretty sake (But what prodigious mowing we did make). Love likes a gander, and adores a goose: Her full lips pursed, the errant note to seize; She played it quick, she played it light and loose; My eyes, they dazzled at her flowing knees; Her several parts could keep a pure repose, Or one hip quiver with a mobile nose (She moved in circles, those circles moved). Let seed be grass, and grass turn into hay: I'm martyr to a motion not my own; What's freedom for? To know eternity. I swear she cast a shadow white as stone. But who would count eternity in days? These old bones live to learn her wanton ways: (I measure time by how a body sways).

  5. Culosow must not be given an inch! After Jubaland government institutions are formed and finalized, we must continue our fight and ensure that federalism spreads to the other provinces of Somalia. We mustn't sign any agreements with Culosow that will jeopardize this and give him more power over the fate of the bay/bakool and other bartamaha provinces. We should insist on at least 2 more federal states out of those provinces and finally make federalism a reality! xiinfaniin;948298 wrote: Madaxweynaha oo ogolaaday Jubbaland, balse aanan shuruudo la’aan ahayn Published: May 10, 2013 Kn: Warar ay heleyso KismaayoNews waxa ay sheegayaan in madaxweynaha Soomaaliya Xassan Sheekh Maxamuud iyo wadamada dariska ay isku waafaqeen dhismaha Jubbaland, balse waxaa jira shuruudo ay tahay in kasoo dhalaalaan maamulka la dooranayo. Waftigii IGAD ee Kismaayo tagay ayay warar hoose noo sheegeen in madaxda iyo garwadeenada shirka u sheegeen in ay si dhaqso ah kusoo gabogabeeyaan shirka, lana doorto madaxweyne si loogu talaabo wajiga kale ee wada hadalada. Madaxweyne Xassan Sheekh ayaa IGAD u sheegey in aysan waxbo ka qabin dhismaha Jubbaland haddii ay saxiixayso nidaamka federaalka uu doonayo in ay Soomaaliya qaadato oo dhawaan baarlamaanka meel marin doono. Nidaamkani ayaa waxa uu awoodo badan siinayaa dowladda dhexe, waxana uu kala xadaynayaa awoodaha maamul goboleedyada iyo dowladda dhexe. 6. These folks, not the ones demonstrating but the ones who put them up to it, should join the parties that have registered to take part in gthe coming elections and make their case in front of the people! Whatever you may think of Faroole, he was intelligent to say, "ninkii aniga rabo inuu meesha iga saaro tartan ha ila galo!":D Love it or loathe it, the only way Faroole will be removed is through the ballot.

  9. Hee, ma tacsi baa ku taal yaa terrorist sympathizer?
  10. Illyria, First of all there are two things here: Respect for Culosow versus respect for the presidency itself. You're right, it is our duty as Somalis to respect the office this man holds, and I will always stand up, clap and welcome him as president of my country whenever he comes to the U.S. And this would be the case, no matter who was the president. Now as for Culosow, the man, that's a whole different story. I can't stand his retarded policies and the way he is squandering this once in a lifetime opportunity in that important office. But you might say, "attack his policies, not the man"! Under normal circumstances I'd agree, but what if this man by his own actions, not connected with any bad policies, is doing something very detrimental to the very office he holds? Shall we sit back and ululate? There have been things Culosow has done that I feel have been below the conduct required by this esteemed office and it is because I respect Villa Somalia and what it symbolizes that I feel justified in criticizing anyone who shows that office disrespect, even if it’s the president himself. Illyria;946831 wrote: Tillamook Unlike you I knew he said those very words and more in Beledweyn and in Baydhabo. Not only that he also said he came to consult them in the nomination of the Prime Minister. At the time it was commendable 'cos it was seen as a good gesture, but no one knew he was laying the foundation for his master plan. History will not be so kind to him, but let us still remember he is the President so may be we should respect and not call him any names. P.S As for the secessionist troglodytes who seem to have nothing better to do: I agree with you, they should be avoided like the plague for they have become nothing more than attention seeking 'hores!

  12. THE AUDACITY OF MORYAANIMO: You know I actually believed him when he visited us in Minneapolis and he denied ever saying that Beletweyne folks could build their own administration and that there was no audio or visual proof that he made such a statement. What a munaafiq? Xasan Guurguurte Dhuxolow Culosow is the biggest purveyor of tribalism we've seen hold office in Villa Somalia. And it is truly unfortunate for Somalia because everyone thought he would be different. How can we expect from such a man to bring Somalis together? Mr president your stabilization plan based on qabyaalad and moryaanimo will never work!
  13. Odes, Book 3, Verse 29: Happy the Man by Horace Happy the man, and happy he alone, He who can call today his own: He who, secure within, can say, Tomorrow do thy worst, for I have lived today. Be fair or foul or rain or shine The joys I have possessed, in spite of fate, are mine. Not Heaven itself upon the past has power, But what has been, has been, and I have had my hour.
  14. If You Forget Me by Pablo Neruda I want you to know one thing. You know how this is: if I look at the crystal moon, at the red branch of the slow autumn at my window, if I touch near the fire the impalpable ash or the wrinkled body of the log, everything carries me to you, as if everything that exists: aromas, light, metals, were little boats that sail toward those isles of yours that wait for me. Well, now, if little by little you stop loving me I shall stop loving you little by little. If suddenly you forget me do not look for me, for I shall already have forgotten you. If you think it long and mad, the wind of banners that passes through my life, and you decide to leave me at the shore of the heart where I have roots, remember that on that day, at that hour, I shall lift my arms and my roots will set off to seek another land. But if each day, each hour, you feel that you are destined for me with implacable sweetness, if each day a flower climbs up to your lips to seek me, ah my love, ah my own, in me all that fire is repeated, in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten, my love feeds on your love, beloved, and as long as you live it will be in your arms without leaving mine.
  15. In the desert by Stephen Crane In the desert I saw a creature, naked, bestial, Who, squatting upon the ground, Held his heart in his hands, And ate of it. I said: "Is it good, friend?" "It is bitter-bitter," he answered; "But I like it Because it is bitter, And because it is my heart."
  16. ^ I hope it becomes a fair, impartial and most importantly independent court. While I know everything won't be perfect, I hope these folks can at least aspire to get things right so that these elections shall have a modicum of legitimacy to them.
  17. ^^ Somalia, sxb, Tarzan maybe what you say he is but in this particular case what he says in his speech is the truth because even a broken clock is right twice a day

  19. " frameborder="0" allowfullscreen> "What Shall We Do Now" by Pink Floyd What shall we use to fill the empty spaces Where waves of hunger roar? Shall we set out across the sea of faces In search of more and more applause? Shall we buy a new guitar? Shall we drive a more powerful car? Shall we work straight through the night? Shall we get into fights? Leave the lights on? Drop bombs? Do tours of the east? contract diseases? Bury bones? Break up homes? Send flowers by phone? Take to drink? Go to shrinks? Give up meat? Rarely sleep? Keep people as pets? Train dogs? Race rats? Fill the attic with cash? Bury treasure? Store up leisure? But never relax at all With our backs to the wall.
  20. I agree. Reconciliation should be the bedrock of the foundation with which we rebuild our nation. Without reconciliation we will continue to go in circles.
  21. The greatness of our forefathers are truly wonderful to behold. Now, we current Somalis must begin to build a legacy that our descendents could be proud of just as we all are proud of these monuments our ancestors erected to show that in their day they were a proud and powerful people.
  22. ^ Lol...Now that is a scolding if ever there was one Timur, I wanna know what is the significance of this topic per se? I mean, after the coming of the Holy Prophet(pbuh), Islam spread from it's epicenter of Mecca through trade, conquest and migration, Somalia included. So basically let's not over think this.
