According sources close to the president of Somaliland, the November 13 election could be repeated within a year. " The Somaliland election commission will announce the result tomorrow, but the opposition party will refuse to accept the verdict and will appeal to the supreme court" the unnamed source said.. A closed meeting has taken place with the NEC chairman , the president and the chief justice. According to these sources, the Waddani party lawyers had already prepared their motion to dismiss the results of the election, due to irregularity that had taken place. Among the infraction sited by the lawyers are: a) election boxes containing extra amount of voter ballots. According to election commission rules each ballot box must contain exact number of votes which must not exceed it's capacity. It might contain less ballots than it's capacity, but can not overflow. We do not know exactly how many boxes have been designated as overflow, but they do exist and the commission has found some. b) copy of stamped ballot booklets have been found by voters and handed to the opposition. Although they belong a polling station in Berbera, No one really knows if they were stolen or deliberately used to inflate the ruling party numbers. c) under age children voting. The phenomenon of under age voting was huge across Somaliland except Awdal, Saaxil and Sanaag . What made this issue as one of the biggest reasons to overturn the election is, the international observers who are still in Somaliland had recorded both in Gabiley and Hargeisa. d) The failure of the Somaliland election commission to broadcast or release the early results of the election which was known across Somaliland. This action could be describes as " the tale of two elections". In the real election, both the NEC representatives who were counting the votes and the three party observers had done their duties and transferred the counted boxes to the government for transport. With 1647 polling station, by 3pm , there were no lineups to vote. How can anyone transfer counted, signed, and sealed ballots to a ruling party people without announcing the result. This is what broke the camel e) The detention and expulsion of the opposition party observers made the election " not free". Intimidation n and the monopoly use of security forces for the Kulimiye party made the election , " not fare" My sources told me that these any other incidents which are recorded by camera, dates, and names of those involved will be entered by the lawyers. Even Chairman Cirro said that there were 1200 incidents. President Siilaanyo would not allow chaos under his watch. If a winner is announced and the opposition refuses to accept, that is huge in any where in the world and even more so where political parties literally campaigned that ,"our tribe is more than yours". My prediction is after they announce Muuse Biixi winner , Waddani will file a motion, and the court will overturn the result and order a new election. In fact, there were more fraud and tampering of ballot boxes than the Kenyan election. By the way ,overturning elections and making them transparent is normal around the world. In 2016, the Austrian election was overturned by courts, so does the Kenyan, Ukrainian and others. Sometimes the harmony of the community is more important than being tough and arrogant. If you are a wise person , defensively you would not ignite this civil war. There are major reasons that makes people prone to reject results after these election infractions, among them: Seven years of rule which is almost one year minus two terms. People has seen looting of the public purse, abuse of power and trust and the weakening of the institutions. Almost everyone in Somaliland knows the precarious condition of the president, yet due to traditional and cultural respect, they decided to let him finish his term with grace. They know he is almost like Robert Mogabe of Zimbabwe, unable to fitful his duties,; they know his family and tribal kids are running the government, yet they said " Dhaqan keena waa ceeb in qof lagu caayo da' iyo cudur". Also, among the SNM community, he is their hero, and they were willing to close their eyes and forgive him. Further more, the Muuse Biixi community was co-ruling with Siilaanyo for the last seven years, and since his hostile takeover of the party for the last two years, he was the one who was nominating the cabinet members. his clan control finance and customs, foreign ministry, industry, army and between. The finance minister, who is not elected and must act as a neutral civil servant, went to Burco and publicly asked that community to make an alliance. It is illegal for a government minister to use her office and public purse for tribal hegemony. Since Ahmed Siilaanyo was leaving, the opposition decided to be quite and respectful, but that does not mean people had suddenly forgiven the looting and abuse of power. For most people , it is unacceptable to reward greed and bring to power the same crowd that brought them misery and inflation for the last seven years. MY understanding is Siilaanyo will get another year of extension and the election will be held within a year.

The long 2+ years (delivery like) election process is now over. No election is perfect in this corner of the world. I am glad to hear Cirro concede and accept the outcome of the election. In la tanaasulo wax ka qiima badan ma jiraan, xitaa hadii uu xaq leeyahay, dadka in loo turo waa bisayl iyo waayo aragnimo. There are many pressing issues that need to be addressed now, without losing anymore time in party campaigns. In the economic front, unemployment is rampant, economic development outside Hargeisa is somehow nonexistent, and the high inflation is pushing people towards extreme poverty. Addressing these must be priority number one. In the political front, heal the deep mistrust that became lately visible to everyone. Hold out an olive branch to the opposition by releasing anyone detained after the election, and to involve them in the political process is the best way forward. Devolution of power and local governance is an other front that need urgent work. Make peace within the communities and don’t wast your limited resources in security issues that can be solved diplomatically. Stop squandering the meagre budget at the presidency by giving cash to useless Gadhcas. Instead, give that money direct to the elected local governments in the near future. Ugu danbeyn, mansibka madaxweyne ee hadda loo doortay Muuse wuu kaduwanyahay, midka hogaamiye ciidan ama mid beeleed. Waa nabadoon midka ugu sareeya ee dadka isku wada dhamaan. Muuse asagoo wax dili kara, inuu duco qaato ayaa markan looga fadhiyaa.

I think we have been defeated. It is time to move on. Muuse Biixi and the professors had won. Since Samatar joined Kulmiye INa Biixi was acting differently. He might not even celebrate too much. I think it was Tallaabo who a years or so said it that the presence of Samatar might bring the "Jabhad" Biixi has a huge opportunity to make his cabinet. Almost all the old style politicians from UDUB, to Kulmiye went to Waddani. If Cirro had won, he would had a big mess ,and difficult time to appease all the " Macaan Jecel" who joined the last minute. There were over three dozen Hargeisa politicians. Muuse Biixi has free hand to choose his cabinet. Some Kulmiye guys from Awdal think that " Ina Biixi sida reer Muduga rag badan buu iska soo reebay cidna faraqa ma haysato" My only worry is Samatar and Cali Galayr will have a big microphone and will destroy Farmaajo and the Southern Somali politicians through the media and there won't be anyone to defend them.

that is a balanced carefully prepared statement. Dowlada Federaalka iyo Somaliland is much better statement than saying "Somalia and Somaliland". lol

tolow why's there an askari standing behind Masiixi Biixi. this sort of cult of personality looks bad for our democratic credentials. i understand he wants to project power but he's accountable to the people who voted him in. nonetheless he spoke like a true statesman.

Barwaaqo & Alpha, La shukran ala wajib. Anyway thanks. With regards to Somaliland's progress towards representative democracy, I have to say that we have come a long way. The issues you are seeing today are issues related to technicalities, personal greed etc. They are not in anyway shape or form reflective of the general view and direction of this country. Technical issues like underage voting, publishing results on time (same day/night), ballot paper authentity and verifications. These can be fixed, I am very confident come next elections, these issues will be addressed. The hardest issue that will not be guaranteed is the issue of greed, dishonesty and related issues of officials discharging their duty faithfully and honestly. This will take a long time. Overall, Somaliland is moving forward, slowly but surely.

a peaceful somaliland is a win for Puntland and every somali. Cirro lost this battle and he needs to show leadership and calm his supporters in the next couple of days niyoow. let people protest but no violence. keep the peace and if you must battle, do at the courts (if there is any legitimacy there). inshalah kheyr iyo nabad.

che, niyoow i am better off with fair and balanced election than a fake fraud. until that system is ready, waiting is better than chaos. yeah the overall participation people) is lower in puntland elections because it is only MPs that vote for the president, but you can't deny it was a fair and transparent election that beat ruugcadaa Faroole. such thing would never happen in somaliland. it is always kushubo and fake and at every election, people are killed in riots. i have to give it to them though. they know how to run propaganda campaigns. biixi - hostile takeover of kulmiye by threatening East Burco family that it is his turn waraabe - destroyed jamaal, a young promising leader, by arguing it is his party and nobody else other than his clan should rule. Waddani - niyoow this was probably the most honest representation of the three parties. cirro put a coalition together and it worked. except he was cheated by the SM elites who control somaliland behind the scene.

Yes, Good luck! its been a long campaign and to be honest we're all looking forward to the results. the election trails and the campaigning have been excellent and revolutionary. its been many years in the making. a lot of time and effort went into the elections. Che, its pointless issuing audacious statements to garner a reaction. you have very little knowledge of Somaliland, its dynamics, weren't there in person, have never been to Somaliland. you do not have a qualified privilege to discuss Somaliland or its politics.

Good luck? There isn't any luck involved here. It is high robbery if Musa is crowned. By way, with children voting, I don't think reer Waqooyi can pejoratively use the term Walaweyn when it comes to elections.

Walahi Faisal is retard, and has no shame, He is somehow more focused to Wadani/Ciro than Kulmiye, why!, I know here in Qurbaha rag baan idin ka dhicin buu ugu sheega, Reerkiisa, qaraan kaga gurtaa, and been living off QARAAN for years.

^ lol There’s got to be a way of reconciling the number of voters to the corresponding ballots. Whether it be Voter card with a ballot stub that is torn off by voter before he goes into the secret booth or an envelop with the voter ID that has a numerically unidentifiable ballot that is linked to it inside, which is mailed in( but vote by mail is a whole different story here). Here is the nub of Kulmiye's failed-- and if I might add amateurish-- attempt at stealing the election: All Cirro has to show, to proof his case, is the initial count of the voters who got registered, the number of ballots cast for him, and the number Kulmiye claim they got. I believe these latter sums will never add up to the initial voter registration cards. In any case, we shall wait and see if Cirro will take such an injustice lying down or whether the sensible elders of the place give him his rights. P.S Muuse Biixi inuu tuug yahay waxaa xaqiijinaya juuq dambe lagama hayo

niyoow Somaliland election was a big fraud all along. any person with any sense would not accept that fake kushubo game. the SM boys in Hargeysa know they got this under lock. no way they'll let this go and give it to another clan. they believe this is their turn and whoever else must wait. shameful robbery niyoow. they are destroying their land.
