  2. In a perverted sort of way, I'm somewhat pleased with this allegation if true. Lets be honest with each other Somalis. We're cursed race that produced nothing important in it's entire sorry existence, we created no notewhorthy civilisation, invented nothing of modest recognition... by and large we were savages wallowing in petty clan wars over water and grazing lands before the white man came and united us. God created us for special purpose, gave us the divine duty of: leading His camels through one of His most verboten lands. This is what we do, this is what we are -- Geeljires extraordinaries. But that's not all we do, we molest our she-camels. To make-up we developed poetic talent, the reason why good bulk of our poems dedicated to our beloved she-camels. Not everyone is worthy foe. Today comes the news of other races viewing us as worthy enemy, what an elation! Finaly we've earned the respect of being considered worthy adversary! Nations come from afar to do us ill, clearly this is prove of our arrival as important people. So rejoice fellow Somalis, we're so important our enemies are now using their much vaunted Bio weapons on us.

  7. It's completely false to characterize the situation in Southern Somalia today as one of wanton violence. There's violence everywhere in Somalia... whats differentiates the current violence in Moqadishu, Baydhabo, Shabelle Dhexe, Kismayo et al is Ethiopian occupation. Some groups see this as unacceptable violation of their rights and opt to fight. Deal with it! Don't be coming up with incongruent comparisons with run-of-the-mill dysfunctional city violence.
  8. Bokero, It's actually very tempting to say Somalis are genetically amiss to explain their current plight. Unfortunately reason and facts don't lend any support to such view. Highlighting shortcomings is fun sometimes but it doesn't help you understand much. It's understanding the foibles and quirks of a people, among other things, that lies at the heart of finding helpful solutions to remedy problems besetting them. I don't know about you and others but I'm more interested in knowing why and how things are the way they are than notice they exist. You're spot on with one thing about improvidence and Somali. Plenty of explanations are abound, the most compelling being our way of life. We're roaming nomads where the future is out of our hands. We can't summon rain or avert dry spells or manage prolonged scourging droughts. When our animals no longer have green pastures to graze, we move to where our herds can graze. Centuries of this sort of living leaves it's mark. But it's not genetically based, it's learned. We observed our environment, pondered challenges facing us, considering our options and acted accordingly. There's no reason to think why we can't act accordingly now that we have different litany challenges facing us. About who is ethnic Somali is mute point. Genes, language and culture determine who is ethnic Somali.
  9. Excuse me folks, I followed all instructions and I still see no pics. This is unacceptable! It's not brain surgery people. Register with Facebook (if I can do it you could do it!) using your SOL moniker and your pic.
  10. In Canada about 90% of the land is Crown Land (the equivalent of Federal Land in the US). This is a land owned by Canadian people on whose behalf the Canadian government manages. Western Canada alone netted over 4 billion dollars in revenues from the sale of Crown lands last year. Most Crown lands are wilderness, National Parks, inhospitable artic lands... when the land is rich in resources governments usually don't "sell" the land, rather lease it or rent it or come up with similar such arrangements. Government gets regular revenue from private companies mining or logging on Crown Lands. That said, private land owernership is reality for most parts of the world and in many countries protected by law. Once you own a land it's yours by law.
  11. Lool@Barwako This is typical Nigrean scam with Somali flavor.
  12. Shaikh Shariif doesn't represent anybody, has no power base, no bargaining chips and certainly not for the interests of his clan. This explains why he has little support from his clan elders in stark contrast to Geedi who seems to have some support from his clan elders. The reason being he stands for the foriegn idealogy of Political Islam. Somalis never had any extensive experience with political Islam and are still deeply in love with their sub-clan. There's 101 versions of Islam in Somalia one for every qabiil and subqabiil. Shiekh Shariif and others are simply delusional if they think political Islam is viable option under present conditions. The ICU leadership is well adviced to drop this quixotic notion of political Islam taking flight in Somalia and be more "Somali" if they wanna give themselves a shooting chance of occupying the halls of power.
  13. Children weren't the intended target and you know it, so stop this nonesense about rebels targeting children. Glaringly these rebels need to attend Ranger school to learn how to shoot straight, right now they couldn't aim straight if their life depended on it. These fools need to stop shooting it they can't shoot straight. And spare us your new-found empathy for the suffering Mogadishu residents. You aint fooling nobody. All you TFG supporters care about is your clan idols (Geedi, Qeybdiid, Hiraale, C/Yuusef etc)... the day these men or their ilk aren't around you'll start playing a different tone.
  14. 8 pages but only 1 pic... not the sort of inspiration I was looking for. I'm diffident numero uno but I guess others are in the same boat as I. Reassuring stuff! Pujah and others who posted their pics, put it up again I didn't see it.
  15. You guys are being unfairly harsh on Duke. There's some truth to his line. Sensational news is coming out of Mogadishu regarding findings that show possible foriegn aid to ICU. TFG's Bureau of Investigations has uncovered incontrovertible evidence of Oromo complicity in the form of hundreds of explosives laden cows... ostensibly to serve as smart ordinance delivery systems. In another explosive finding, the TFG investigators discovered disassembled Eritrean SU-27 hiden away in people's backyard berkads. Clear evidence that shows Eritrean fingerprints on the crime scene. And of course who could deny arab influence but rabid ICU idealogues? C'mon now, how do explain the gulf between ICU proclamations and their subsequent behaviour without arabs having something to do with it. Only Arabs are widely known to talk boastfully but cut and run when they sense the heat around the corner. ICU capitualtion can only be imputed to their arab connections. Stay tuned. More tantalizing discovers remain. The TFG assures the people of Somalia that this is a matter of utmost national urgency and they will not abate in the quest for truth until all options are exhausted.
  16. Azmaya, Stop with the snide remarks. How many Rer Gedo, Rer Bari and Rer Xamar niman have you met to say "nimankoda waxbaa ka haleysan"? About Xamari accent, it's too unbearably drawly for my liking. It's like these people have lost track of TIME. No urgency to get to the point. I can't recount how many times I lost patience with Xamari accented folks, sometimes bursting with "for God sakes, get to the friggin' point!" Other times when I know ahead of time I'm in for deep convo with thick Xamari accented individuals, I bring along a tape recorder to record and playback in slow motion. That's the only way I can keep about my wits and not lose it. Northerners are equally as bad. They're too curt hinting lack of mannerism. The delivery misses the mark horribly. The wrong words are used in the wrong setting. For example, using cuss words in friendly setting. Of course, most of this is stereotype and far from the truth. All in all, both camps are aberration of the authentic Somali accent. Galgadud, Mudug and Kilika-5, collectively called central Somalia, speak the most normal, intelligible, eloquent, beautiful, sexiest and "proper" Somali by any fair standard.
  17. This reminds of a joke about women. A group of girlfriends went on vacation and they see a five-story hotel with a sign that reads, "For Women Only". Since they were without their boyfriends, they decide to go in. The Doorman, a very attractive guy, explains to them how it works, "We have 5 floors. Go up floor by floor, and once you find what you are looking for, you can stay there. It's easy to decide, since each floor has signs telling you what's inside. The only rule is, once you leave a floor, you can't return to it." The women talk it over and decide to go for it. They start going up, and on the first floor the sign reads "All the men here are horrible lovers, but they are sensitive and kind". The friends laugh and without hesitation move on to the next floor. The sign on the Second floor reads, "All the men here are wonderful lovers, but they generally treat women badly". This wasn't going to do so again they head for the stairs. The friends move up to the Third floor where the sign read, "All the men here are great lovers and sensitive to the needs of women." This was good but there were still two more floors... So on to the Fourth floor, the sign was perfect. "All the men here have perfect builds; are sensitive and attentive to women; are perfect lovers; they are also single, rich and straight." The women seemed pleased but they decide that they would rather see what the fifth floor has to offer before they settle for the fourth. When they reach the Fifth floor, there is only a sign that reads: "There are no men here. This floor was built only to prove that there is simply no way to please a woman.
  18. Somali poems aren't really "disrespectful" of somali women, they simply prefer them to she-camels. This is what's eating them up. I don't blame them. More poems are dedicated to she-camels than to somali women. No wonder the poor things detest their men.
  19. Biking 12,000 km in 10 weeks for 63 yr old is awesome feat.
  20. It's mischaracterization to say foriegn troops are coming to keep the peace, they're coming to prop up illegitame puppet government imposed on the locals.
  21. ^What is your position? I read this thread in it's entirety and you come across as someone bogged in moral confusion. Need some soul searching bud. Defiling the dead, as in gleefully dragging the corpses, is neither Islamically sanctioned nor in keep with Somali norms. Allahu-ubaahne has lost his marbles, don't let him mislead you. And why is this defamatory false story stil circulating? No dead soldier was trawled through the streets. Allahu-ubaahne, we don't drag the dead in Somalia but I got the right fix for you. Iraq. This is a nation where defiling the dead is deemed a noble act and favorite past-time. Go there, be gone, go there please... we Somalis disown you! We don't need the likes of you in our midsts.
  22. Evidently, a lot more than a Somali. When Iraqis die, they make it in the evening news. Somali deaths barely make the yearly headlines.
