What are some must have memorized Somali poems. What poems were you forced to learn as a kid? Reero gabay ma'ihi, I don't fancy it. Laakiin this is one of the most well-known lines by Sayidka: Sagaal nin oo walaala ah sideena Oo sideedu isku bahtahay sidiina Midkuna bah gooni yahay sidayda Oo sideedu wax siri sidiina Midkuna sirta ku garan sidayda Haddaynu isa siri sideedaba Ma iska kala tagnaa sideenaba As it is nine brothers, like us where eight of you are full brothers And I am the only half brother amongst Alas, all of you plot against But the lone half-brother discovers it I see no reason of being together But to split Check more on here. 3. War Imaaraadka waxba igama galinee why did I have to pay $50 markaa Xamar tagay? War xataa meeshaa ku dhashay lacag dalkugal la iga rabaa. I should have acted like my brother, who refused to pay the visa fee, but wuxuu isku haleynaaye Gaafoow, an acquaintance of his, who came out of his airport office and laughingly told him to go in Xamar without paying the visa fee.

  8. I was visiting to my aabo's grave in Qabuuraha Qaranka two months ago when I saw marxuum C/rashiid Cali Sharmaarke's grave, just a few steps away. I remember as boys we used to come around this area (Tarbuunka) to play banooni, sometimes getting inside Qabuuraha Qaranka and seeing this hero's gravemark. Even as young boys, we really had our profound respects for him, for we never run around, played around or talked aloud while there. As boys, we used to go once a while to national cemetery because it had wild geed qurac iyo tiintiin with hard to reach, rare miro. Boys liked those mirooyin. This was reminded me by ra'iisul wasaare's recent visit to marxuum Maxamed Siyaad Barre's grave in Garbahaareey. Eebbe ha u naxariisto, janadiisa fardowsana haka waraabsho -- aamiin, aamiin.

  10. Horta waxa la kala heysto intee ku bilaabataa, kuna dhamaataa. I mean, a few months ago on Soomaali channels, there were odeyo shir jaraa'id ku qabtay Xamar claiming the current location of Ceelgaab boosteeyo (now called Beerta Nabadda) used to belong to them, that Kacaankii ayaa ka kiciye. Yaab ayee lahaayeen. Aagaas Iskuraran ayaa la dhihi jiray, dowladda probably had a right cause to demolish those unsafe slums, relocating the residents meelo kale u roon. Laakiin kuwooda qaarkood wali soo taagan. Guryaha la kala heysto aniga waxaa iiga daran dhulkii dowladda xoog lagu dhistay, sida jardiinooyinkii, barxadihii, xaruntii degmooyinka, mishibiyeeriyadii, beerihii guud magalada ku dhex yaalay. Isgoysyada qaarkood Xamar ku yaalay jardiinooyin qurxoon ayee lahaayeen, aad iyo aad u qurxooneysiin jiray magaalada. Unfortunately, dad waxmagarato ayaa dhistay. Jardiinooyinkaas ay ka mid yihiin tii Isgoyska Bakaaraha, Afarta Jardiino iyo kuwa kale.
  11. Barbaarta in fact have a strong presence in Huriwaa and Dayniile. Go see yourself, if one can last a week there, especially during the night.
  12. Ain't it oxymoron qof gaal noqday, oo waliba maalin cad qirtay haddana qabyaalad daba taagan. Would his clanmates accept this? Then that maahmaah -- fiqi tolkiisa kama jano tago -- must have been uttered by a Soomaali who had seen something like this. Qof hadduu diinta ka baxo waxaa u haboon in uu qabyaaladda walaaqideeda iskaga baxo, intuu ku jahwareeri lahaa. Diin ka bixid waa bar Soomaalinimadii loogu baxo. Just ask Reer Diinle (Rendille).
  13. Dad badan ku arkay Islii asagoo fiid ka fiid kaligiis socdo ii sheegi jiray. I used to think how geesi of him, considering heesuhuu caanka ku ahaa.
  14. Mar walba raaci jiray basaska townka aado. The number #9 buses waa caan with their ear-splitting, body-shaking music on. I don't know why Soomaalida didn't invest as much in those buses as Xabashada.

  16. Diyaarad rakaab ah ayaa aado Mandheera. I don't know how frequent, though. Gaarisa diyaarad ma tagto, not a public one that I know of. Basaskii 'scary' ahaa ku sugaayo should one want to go to Gaarisa, though they upgraded having a 'first class' seats that costs more.

  19. It is not dungeon, but even decent ones are infected with them. Bedbugs invaded Islii en masse in late 2007, early 2008. Dadkii Xabashada dagaaladooda kasoo cararay ayaa keenay ayee dhahaan Reer Islii.
  20. Stoic, some cheap hotels might be infected with bedbugs, so be careful, though. In Islii, bedbugs have a nickname: Shabaab. It is pretty much hard to get rid them off, from hotels to homes to schools to dugsis to marfishes.

In Grand Royal's case, it is 2,500, 3,500, 4,000, 5,000. That was back in mid 2011, so I don't know how the management of Grand Royal charge per room now. They may have cut the rates.

I think I will just hand over Polo shirts to everyone haha.. Don't bother giving away your dhar. This is Reer Islii's primarily interests as a gift: Smart mobile phones (particularly iPhone5 or Samsung Galaxy s4), digital camera, latest laptops, iPad or its likes, quality kareemooyin (lotion) and shaambo (shampoo). Don't bother with dated mobile phones. They want the latest, the latest that you don't even know exist or had seen. They know pretty well the mobile models.
