Apophis, We are proud of our home towns and we hail from. Although unemployment is 70% in Awdal just like most of Somaliland, it is relatively peaceful at the moment. And peace, in the sense of the word, doesn't mean the absence of war. Peace is a piece of mind without worry and believing you achieved and settled for good. In that part of Somalia, no one knows when things will change including the currency. We are all wailing for Somaliweyn including those in Hargeisa. So, we have stakes in Mogadishu. At the same time some us had spend many years in Mogadishu and we still have in our memory how good " Xamar Cadde" was in the old good days. There is also a believe that if Mogadishu and south Somali political problems settled for good , even those us in the north might achieve more that what we did for 30 years. Every time you keep raising about laangaab and having numbers. I told you that I have enough space and people to participate the Somali family debate, although I believe that one must achieve his own dreams without relying a tribal grouping. Ma rabo nimanka aan tolka iyo walaalaha nahay ee OG in aan meel uga dhaco awgaa, laakiin weli ma hayo Tuulo aad maamusho oo Soomaali ka taliso mid gumeysi dusha kaa illaaliyo mooyaane. . Hase ahaatee, baadhitaan badan ka dib waxaan rumaysnahay in beeshu Jubbada dhexe, Jubbada Hoose iyo Bakoolba joogto lixdameeyadiina ka soo geli jireen. Do not get abscessed with Ahmed Madoobe. He has been ruling the Jubba for 10 years and didn't even build a two room house for school or hospital. After these statements, I want to teach you something about each man's ability and talent without relying tribes. When the great Darwiish landed in Berbera circa 1899, he was a lone man(isagoo baakooraad laad laadinaya ayuu Berbera ka soo degay). And that great hero had created the movement that fought the British for 20 years. His clansmen were as far away as iimey and Godey, yet everyone from Puntland to Hiiraan , Bebera feared him. Real men make history not tribes. Meel ku qoro. Have you heard a man called Fahad Yaasiin, who everyone is saying he is the real boss of Somalia these days?. He is a member of the so called 0.5, yet he earned that position because of his own ability. Dhiisi baad moodaa markuu afka kuu soo dhaweynaye waxa uu dhaaranayaa waa dhuuni raacdeysi e Dhuunta bir laga geli muxuu nooga dhiman waayey. Gabaygan lixdameeyadii baa loo tiriyey

Nothing has changed. They just keep repeating that Farmaajo is not president anymore and C/rahman C/shakuur should be sitting at the table including the other 15 candidates. And what authority Abdi Hashi has to sit there? none. What you need is executive decision making.

Last weekend I sat down with one of local friend of mine who came back from Mogadishu after spending there few months. It was a long conversation , but the title of this article summarizes the events taking place in Mogadishu these days. Our conversation centered mostly about the events surrounding after February 8, when the term of the current government ended. As we are all aware, the opposition threatened to expel the president from Villa Somalia through illegal means by deploying general Indha Cadde and his militia and violent demonstrations. According to my friend , all opposition schemes and plans failed due to some unsormantble realties on the ground. He pointed out three major things for their failure: The people, the security and the parliament. The people of Mogadishu. He said the people of the capital overwhelmingly support the current government. He told me a discussion he had with one of the lieutenants of the leading candidates. This chief adviser said, " the most important question that we are grabbling almost every day is how we lost the public of Mogadishu and how to get back them from Farmaajo" ( Waagi beryaba waxaan ku fikirnaa sidii aanu shacabka uga soo ceshan lahayn Faramajo welina kuma aanan guulaysan). While there were some residual support for the opposition in the early days before February 8, it seems enthusiasm for hostile or eager public for the opposition has dried up. He said in order to galvanize or organize people for demonstration against Farmaajo, the opposition is paying internally displaced people in Mogadishu $8 dollars per person. In order to oust a leader or create the so called uprising the opposition was claiming, one must have the support of the larger public. Thus an opposition without significant public support will not succeed. He said if you want to see eager people willing for fight just look what is taking place in Burma (Mynamar). The military and the public service. According to this gentleman, the national and local security enforcement apparatus and particularly the military are 100% support the current government. He said, Somali military members are paid almost close to $300 dollars a month and each one of them receives their salary before the end of the month. He told me that he walked to the soldiers manning the check points and asked them personally about their pay and each one of them told him how satisficed they were with their salary. He said that during the Hassan Sheikh administration, soldiers were paid $100 dollars a month and sometimes they used to miss the payments. He said at one point president Hassan threatened to fire them and replace them with others if they keep complaining. He said because of the nature of the Turkish army training these young men have high level of discipline and work ethic. I asked him about the public service and their moral. He said he met a financial or tax department executive hired by Hassan Sheikh during his term. He was appointed to collect hundreds of thousands of dollars a month and was given a $300 dollar a month salary. The man said, " I was collecting millions of dollars a month and I was given a small salary to feed my families, thus they encouraged me indirectly to help my self". " when Farmaajo was elected, they increased my salary to $1000 dollars a month and instructed me to account every dollar that was collected". he continued and said, " I am very happy and do not have to rely anymore on corruption while earning an honest living" . The parliament. In fact, this observer and I both agreed that the opposition within the parliament is very insignificant at this stage and many are not willing to wreck the boat for minor reasons. During the debate last week, those who were trying to disrupt couldn't even reach two dozen people. So, according to this observer the opposition have unsurmountable task ahead of them. He said , other than elections, the opposition has no chance at al to disrupt the current administration or even to obstruct an extension. He said both the people, the army and the parliament fully support the administration. I asked him the nature of the opposition, their composition and their end game. He said the opposition could be divided in four groups. First the hardliners: former presidents Hassan Sheikh, Shariif Ahmed and C/raxman C/shakuur. He said these are die hard opposition members who are hell bent to out Farmaajo and are willing to use any means necessary to achieve that goal, including public demonstration and uprising. The second group is : Dahir M. Geele. C/naasir, and C/qadir Cosoble. He said, while this group are opposed Farmaajo, they do not support violent public demonstration. They worry about the effects of Covid -19 and the danger of Al-shabaab taking advantage of the situation. So, he described them as moderate opposition who oppose any public destruction or instability caused by their actions. The third group is: Mohamed A. Gandhi, Halane and Shariif Hassan (Shariif the blade) . This group are unhappy and they feel marginalized by the government and opposition. As we remember, when premier Rooble was discussing the how to proceed and manage the so-called peaceful demonstrations of the opposition , he mainly met the HAG members of the opposition. So, according to him, these three guys are probably disgruntled and are bitter by sensing tribal mechanizations of the HAG. The fourth group or I should say the fourth guy is no other than former premier Khayre. Khayre waa keligii dirir. He said Khayre is managing his campaign by himself and others do not trust him. He said that due to his personal money, he thinks he could win some votes. I told him that if Hassan Sheikh as former president and statesman , if he galvanizes all of the opposition around him, he could certainly reach the second round and win enough votes. He said while Hassan sheikh is a formidable candidate, his chances of winning have been reduced due to open secret in Mogadishu that by voting to Hassan Sheikh , you would be electing a government led by Hassan sheikh, premier C/laahi Deni and Ahmed Modoobe, and that scenario is difficult to swallow for many groups. I conclude by saying since there are no other means to oust Farmaajo, let us all go for the election. And by the way, he said, " Farmaajo will win with landslide".

Young Somali men and women in uniform have proven themselves
galbeedi replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
Yes. There were some casualties, probably a dozen. I think this victory will strengthen the moral of the army. Spme people believe that within a year Al shabaab could be cleared in Lower Shabeele and Jubba. It will be hard for them to replace a hundred man casualties including those the army captured and wounded -

I agree with you. Pictures are probably the only way to refute the treasonous media that is cheering for the enemy. -

Previously Al-shabaab used to take over bases from African Amisom armies and get a large cache of weapons. The good news is they have been repelled and destroyed. I hope this devastating lesson will keep them away from attacking these bases. Waa tiradii ugu badnayd ee laga dilo. Cashar ayey u noqon InshaAllah. Geeshkayagow guulaysta. -

I congratulate for the victory of the national army , and also mourn the martyred soldiers who paid the ultimate price. This all too familiar Al-shabaab storming bases is unacceptable. Every main base must have a forward base or check points to protect the soldiers who are sleeping in their barracks. Bases in an enemy controlled area should always have patrols and early warning mechanism to detect the movements of the enemy. Our soldiers are too precious to killed in these kind of ambushes. While the evil Al-shabaab had lost a large number we also lost some soldiers including officers. I have seen the pictures of young captain killed in action. Ciidanka in base kiisa loogu yimaado waa qalad aad u weyn. waa in ay ilaalo isbedelaysaa mar walba ka horeysa. Sidoo kale waa in si joogta ah ciidanka Al-shabbaab loogu hayaa cadaadis iyo hawl galo masaafooyin ka fog xerada ciidanka. Furthermore, the national army should not publish the death of the enemy to the public. No professional army would broadcast live pictures of the dead enemy combatants.. -

Somali troops training in Eritrea to return home
galbeedi replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia under TPLF and EU have been training Somali soldiers for 15 years , yet non of them could be found . They come home and disappear or join their tribal militia after they have been denied any meaningful salary. For just four years. over ten thousand well trained and disciplined force have been created by the Farmaajo administration. The time has come for Amisom to leave. Farmaajo should ask Amisom to leave within the next 18 months. Hopefully within the one year extension and the next six months of his second mandate. -
Same shananigans again. Speaker Mursal, it is time to vote. Farmaajo should go to the parliament address the nation and let the mps vote. Enough is enough

Mogadishu as usual the Somali capital of hustlers and crooks. When I came to Mogadishu as a young high school boy I was amazed how people hustle in the city. Inflation and cost of living was very law. A movie used to cost 2.5 shillings. Yet, if locals want to see a movie almost every night that would cost a lot. Since I was living in Xamar Weyne , I frequented a cinema called Shaneemo Super which played always long Indian films. There were other movie theaters like Cinema Xamar, Missione and Benaadir. My favorite was Cinema Benadir where they played, Italian dubbed Western Spaghetti, Politzia and mafia and other dramatic films. The first film was usually shown in early evening which was always full. Then the second show goes at 8pm. After everyone enters, people try to enter without paying the full price of the movie. The doorman collects one shilling and lets those who can not pay in a very discreet way while no one was noticing. A local friend of mine told me, "Waar Shilinkaaga Turro No". Which means take this paper wrap it with one Shilling and give the door man discreetly. , I put the Shilling on the top of the paper and tried to give to him openly. As I approached, and raised my paper, he hit me in the chest with full force with his hand thrown me to the ground . I was shocked and told the guys what happened. They said, "Warya Qaldaan waar in aad warqada hoos ugu laabto ayey ahayd ee ma ahayn aad dadka hortiisa ugud dhiibto". that was the last time I tried to cheat at the cinema. In another case while I was trying to get a letter from the ministry of justice for security clearance (Warqada dambi la'aanta) to get a passport in 1987. I went to the office almost twice or more a week and pay the type writer guy to write me an application (Arji) asking for clearance letter. A Banaadiri clerk guy takes my application and asks me to wait. At the end of everyday he gives me back the application and says come back the next week. After almost a month I kept going back and forth, with no resolution, and finally I asked a friend in Wardhigley for help. He told me to put 40 Shillings inside the application and came back later for pick up. I did and it was all done. I said, I would have given him 100 Shillings if he had asked instead wasting my time for over a month. That was the Mogadishu of yesterday and today combined with the open demand for "Shaxaad " which is originated from Hargeisa or Somaliland in general. Anyway the Farmaajo team has reduced corruption within the financial system. If Farmaajo want more success he should give the security ministries to the northern guys.

The threat of extension might force everyone to accept. But I am afraid now the issue is in the hands of the parliament and they will decide. Let us see what speaker Mursal and MPs do. -

Galmudug Minister speaks out against maxaa cunaa folks
galbeedi replied to Mastermind's topic in Politics
This is Somalia. UK or any other country can't dictate how Somalia conducts its business. How many times the British house of commons debated, changed and quarreled on Brexit? more than ten times. As I said, the time has come to put these countries in their place. Somali isn't a transition government anymore. It has a parliament that is capable of debating the issues and deciding its future. Oh, one more thing. We need to hear from Norway and Kenya, and how they feel about the etension. Ismaaciil mire AHN waxa uu yidhi. Xagee Fardaha lala aadi Tuurle Naaxsadaye. -
The Somali parliament made mistakes by delegating its power to make the law of the election to regional states. Does anyone have a say when Puntland or other regions hold their election? No. The parliament should not be silent and watch one or two guys obstruct the nation for small pity reasons. This is the best time to bring the business of the nations from the hands of Norway, Belgium and Kenya. Waa in Sanad lagu daraa. Mudadaas sanadka ahna lagy xoreeya Al-Shabaab magaala madaxda Jubbada Hoose ee Bu'ale, ciidanka Kenyana dalka ka baxaa ama xuddud Jubbada ciidan Soomaaliyeed tagaa. Intaa waxii ka dambeeya Madoobe asagaa iska tegeya. Jubbada Caydiid baa xoog ku haysan waayey, Morgan baa ka cararay, Jubba Valley alliance baa iskaga tegay. Ma dhici karto Ciidan Godey ka yimid in xoog ku haysto. Jubba Soomaali oo dhan ayaa defen waa in baarlamaanka lagu soo xulo 4.5 .Beenta D block baa iska leh ma shaqeynayso.

Here are the spoilers trying to disrupt the business of parliament
-
The Somali federal parliament have an obligation to preform its duty to find just solutions to the current problems. They have more right and responsibility than the man controlling the city of Kismaayo. Whose voice is more important? that of Ahmed Madoobe and Dani or the collective voice of the parliament ? These are 275 men and women who are selected to represent every village and town i Somalia. Despite those who try to disrupt the business of parliament, the vote of the majority will prevail by law. They must extend the term of the government and move the country forward. No body can overrule the will of the Somali parliament. Neither the international community, nor the Un representative could overturn the vote of the parliament. IN fact the threat of extension will force to backdown those who are trying block the election it self.

These were the same people that used to accuse Trumps of Twitter diplomacy. Alla maxa diqsi walba weelka Somalia ee banaan dalaq soo yidhi. Waxaad shar moodeyso oo khayr ku jira ayaa jira. This could be the year we would free our selves from this 6th tribe of Somalia called " Beesha Caalamka" It is dangerous and invisible tribe with deep pockets. They only show up during internal quarrel and put salt on our wounds. -
This statement from former prime minster Cali Mohamed Geedi should be the blue print of every Somali who want fair election and peaceful Somalia. As he stated, one man one vote could have been implemented in Somalia. In fact, many places where rebels control a huge chunk of the country held election: Afghanistan, Iraq, Central Africa to name a few. Another proposal rejected by the regional leaders was for the individual selected by the 4.5 system to join a political party and the party that got the majority to elect the president and prime minister as a team. Tii ay rabeen ee loo yeelay ayey diideen. I think Mr. Geedi, as a loyal opposition member should hold a press conference and state his letter publicly.

Before I state my critic of this interview, let me state that I have always respected Cumar Sharmaarke as a decent man who is always measured in his statements and political pronouncements. Also he is not someone who seeks attention or the media limelight. I wish the interviewer would have showed some integrity by asking some tough questions and major weaknesses of Sharmaarke including the disappearance from the country while he was a member of the senate. He disappeared to Dubai since 2017 and never came back since. It seems like two guys complimenting each ather ( waa laba nin oo isku jiibinaya oo weliba weriyuhu hadalka u toosinayo Sharmaarke). The main points that Sharmaarke had made is about the role of the prime minister. He said the prime minister's office is political not administrative. That is totally wrong. While Somalia is nominally parliamentary system, its parliament is filled by people elected through tribal system of 4.5. If the people were elected through parties, those who have the majority of the seats would form the government and occupy the premiership automatically. In Somalia at the moment, it is the president who campaigns, it is the president who explained his agenda before the parliament, it is the president who appoints a prime minister that doesn't belong to no parties. How could Sharmaarke became prime minister? is he the most qualified , energetic or able? absolutely No. He got it because the D block was supposed to get that post according to the 4.5 rule. In fact, comparing to Khayre and others , Sharmaarke seems to be a low energy person that could not lift Somalia from the hole at this stage. So, in this scenario, the president is the leader and the prime minister is the manager or administrator. Also Mr. Sharmaarke flowed the same stupid claim C/laahi Dani and the Puntland elites keeps parroting which is Farmaajo is Siyaad Barre and he is leading the country the same route. Waar Siyaad Barre sodon sanuu mootan yahaye bal no sheega waxa wanaagsan eed Muqdisho iyo dalka ka qabateen een ahayn barakac, gaajo, ciidan shisheeye, James Swan iyo qabaa'il gaajo dadkoodi hayso oo diyaarada fuushan. Miyeydaan arkayn kuwayagan Jamuuraiyada sheegtay ee maanta biyo la'aantu Hargeisa iyo Borama iyo xeebaha ku hayso. Soomalidu waxay tidhii hadal xuni collad wax kama taro, nabadna waa fogeeyaaS Someone from Gedo told me that Ahmed Madoobe does frame his disagreements with Farmaajo as political not tribal although tribal issues are in the equation. He has a good relationship with most of those who are in his administration and he rewarded them handsomely in terms of political appointments. In fact, he insisted that the main reason they abandoning Ahmed Madoobe is mainly Puntland politicians and the way they frame the issues about Gedo people and Farmaajo In general by being dictators like Siyaad Barre and so on.. C /laahi Dani automatically is becoming the spokesman for Gedo, while Faroole says to HAG, " "waar iska soo erya oo anaga noo miyaada" In September of 2020, Farmaajo was overruled and he accepted the version of the agreement proposed by the regional governments, yet they decided to backtrack and refused to honor their signature. In fact, in September 2016, when the government of Hassan Sheikh and Sharmaarke expired, they didn't have all the necessary requirements to hold the election. When he was asked about holding the election on time during the summer of 2016, he said, " it will be delayed by few months". It was delayed by six months. Yet, no one said your time is expired. At least Sharmaarke had concluded the interview well by appealing for understanding and compromise.
