  1. Mogadishu is burning. The Somali capital is in chaos and it is becoming inhospitable place for Somali members of parliament, leaders and presumptive presidential candidates. For the helpless civilians in the city , death and destruction along side roads, hotels, and buildings became a normal events. The security of the capital is getting worse by the day and by the hour. Reasonable people may disagree how to prevent a brain washed cultist seeking death and destruction. Of course no one can stop if someone is willing to die or kill himself, but states, even as weak as the Somali state , with minimal functioning security apparatus, should do extensive investigative work to prevent this thriving business or car fitting with bombs. Within two weeks two huge bombs with cars has taken place while two more were intercepted, which means dozens of garages and save houses have been set up within the city limits. For the last two months , Al-shabaab killers followed the same formula without changing anything. Salaad Cali Jeele, a Mogadishu based politician , whom some people might laugh when he speaks , because of his native accent, had explained this extensively about the copy cut version of these constant bombs and the storming of the buildings to cause huge damage. What has been done to prevent this?. Mr. president What ever you are doing is not working, in fact the security of the city is getting worse. The president and his government are probably preoccupied to gain the upper hand in the next election while neglecting the basic rights of the citizens for their right to live. I do believe that this president should not be rewarded for his negligence and incompetence to provide minimal safety for the people of the Capital. No one is asking him to to bring back the Somali state or expand the reach of his administration, all we are asking is bring some kind of normalcy to the capital. No one is asking him to have state presence outside the capital , no one is asking him to help regional states to defeat the menace of Al-shabaab. All we are asking is to reduce the bombing and and find ways to stop the killing. In 2014, when similar bombings and killings were spreading throughout the city, people demanded of his resignation and were talking about a new beginning to change the course and save the remaining two years. I was one of those who said give him another chance to redeem himself and bring security. I was wrong. Some far sighted people had already seen his short term maneuvering and political machinations to stay in power, while neglecting the most important issue of the day which was and still is security. If you go just south east of the capital Mogadishu, the enemy is rooming freely. We know Al-shabaab has taken over Marka, in Lower Shabbeele. This is the second time in six months that the militants took over that city. The so called national army based in Shabeelaha Hoose keeps playing chicken games with Amisom and the locals to get their way. The locals are convinced that the so called national army based in Marka are nothing but a tribal militia who are hostile to the locals and the future security of the region In 2012, when he was proclaimed as a president he said: " the most important job of my presidency will be security, security and security". The Somali people from east to west, north and south have all seen how this president had failed miserably that promise of bringing security to one single city. Then, we the people, should not reward for his incompetence. How can we give promotions for those who failed?. For the last two months, close to 60 people have died in similar fashion of car bombing and shooting. I am not even adding the daily killing of security people and other civilians shot daily by the militants. These are the major horyfying deaths of the last 60 days. Have you ever heard the president mourn or speak loudly to reduce the the death of the innocent?. I did not. There is no use to demand resignation at this point, but we should never let him come back to preside the security and the lives of our people. In June, 1 2016, Militant group Al-shabaab claimed responsibility for Wednesday attack on Hotel Ambassador . So far 16 people , mostly civilians died , and 55 wounded. Two lawmakers were among them. in June 25, 15 people were killed in Hotel Naaso Hablood . A suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden vehicle at the gate of a hotel in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu, which was followed by a second explosion with attackers fighting their way inside the building. July, 26 2016 Suicide bombers killed at least 13 people at the gates of the African Union's main peacekeeping base in the Somali capital . The force of the bombings shattered windows at Mogadishu's nearby airport, showered arriving passengers with glass and forced the suspension of flights, police and witnesses said. July,31 2016 At least 10 people have been killed including four attackers in an assault on Somalia;s Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Al-shabaab claimed responsibility after two suicide car bombs struck the gates of the CID headquarters in Mogadishu before at least two gunmen stormed the building. Well, no one should be watching this daily bombings. How long do we have to watch to this incompetence?. Are the citizens of the capital decided to aid Al-shabaab?, or this is some kind of a campaign to intimidate those who are seeking change?. I do not know what is going on.
  2. Holac, he could have been Gulenist, but in this case this man who took the selfie was not an employee of the state or the president. He was a private contractor. In my school, the issue is bigger than the picture. Here , you have the President of The Republic transported by foreign government in his own country. Why would the Americans send a bus or a vehicle to transport the president in a base in his own country. He should have visited there with his security details and greeted with honor guard as the head of the state. Instead , they sent a private contractor to bring him to Balidoogle. By the way, Balidoogle is 90 km from Mogadishu. I spent my national service years in Wanla Weyn , just two kilometers from the base. It takes hour and half to get their from the capital. 3. Those in the western media who are rooting for the coup and kicking Erdogan, probably do not know the evil of Turkish coups of the past. They were more bloodier and ruthless than we have seen for the last 35 years. According to Turkish media , here are the facts of 1980 coup. The Turkish Parliament was dissolved, the Constitution was revoked, all political parties were shut down and their assets were seized. 650,000 people were taken into custody 230,000 people were put on trial 1,683,000 people were blacklisted Military prosecutors demanded the death penalty for 7,000 people 517 people received the death penalty 50 people were hanged The military rule revoked the citizenship of more than 14,000 people 388,000 citizens were denied Turkish passports 30,000 people fled Turkey to seek refuge abroad 299 inmates died in prisons due to "indeterminate" reasons 14 inmates died in hunger strikes 171 people died under torture 3 journalists were killed 4,000 years of prison time was requested for 400 journalists 31 journalists were jailed Newspapers could not print for 300 days 39 tons of newspapers and periodicals were destroyed how can anyone wish this for their countries.
  4. This election seems to be different from the last one in so many ways possible. The pool of those electing the members of Parliament have been increased to thousands. These new formula still favors those who have deep pockets. For the individual person seeking a place in the parliament, the burden has also been increased to convince and reach out as many delegates. The Somali National consultation forum ( Madasha Wada tashiga Qaranka) supposed to meet in July 17, 2016, for another round of negotiations to move the process forward. That process was pushed to July 25, and then further to August 2. There are few sticking points that must be resolved before any elections could take place. The Hiiraan elders are complaining about the Somali President changing their traditional elders to his own elders in order to influence the selecting of the parliament. The an ending issue of Ehlu Sunna and Gakmudug with each trying to have the upper hand , and finally the would be senate members from Somalialnd. While all those issues are technical matters that could be resolved one way or another, the most important issue is the location of the election. If we all want this election to be different, we must take concrete steps that should minimize corruption, increase open debate and safety for those who are participating. Safety is very important for fair and free election. Since Al-shabaab and those who are funding them decided to target members of parliament and other leading voice of the country, it is imperative to hold this election without the fear of the enemy. How can anyone campaign in this climate of fear?, how can someone who is secluded in his own hotel can seek a vote from people congregating different parts of this dangerous city. If we really want this election to be different, we must move to another much saver city with manageable security. Since we could not go to Borama, the safest city in the republic with almost zero crime rate or Hargeisa, the thriving capital of Somaliland , I suggest we should go to Garoowe. It is a medium size city with a lot of resources that could accommodates thousands of Somalis. They got conference halls and other venues for delegates to meet. It has wide open and paved streets and modern hotels. Remember, small village of Arta, Djibouti, has accommodated hundreds of Somalis for almost six months. Because of the size of the city , few hundred Puntland soldiers could be deployed to secure and patrol the streets and other important places. In Garoowe, Somali elders and delegates seeking an office can safely engage and discuss issues with the local, national and international media. They could speak their mind without the fear of Al-shabaab and other contract killers in Mogadishu. If the international community want a free election without intimidation and fear, then they must move the election to Garoowe. Also , a reasonable compromise could be reached with those insisting that Mogadishu should be the place. For example, the electoral delegates who are electing the house of parliament should gather In Garoowe and conclude the election of parliament. The elders and to be members of the parliament can peacefully interact and campaign in Garoowe and elect both the members of parliament and the speaker of parliament. In order to minimize violence and threat on the lives of the parliament members, keep them in Garoowe until 48 hours before the election of the president. Then, fly them to Mogadishu to elect the President. If I had my way , I would have done the whole thing in Garoowe including the election of the president, besides, for most Somalis , going another Somali town and conducting national business should be a normal thing. I know that as soon as this news is announced, the usual suspects will screen and cry foul, but they should know that this is the best interest of the nation to conduct the election in a save place. This is not a demand or advantage , it is the most logical thing to do if you want a peaceful and celebratory gathering of the Somalis. It will open a new page of putting the nation's interest ahead of the politicians who insist every thing is Mogadishu even if it is impossible. The business of restoring national government and the survival of the Somali nation state , is more important than the capital itself. Let us meet in Garoowe with peace and love.
  5. Some times the decisions you make as a leader will effect the history or the future of the country. If Erdogan was a coward or selfish , he would have escaped to Germany or one of those Greek islands, but decided otherwise. Landing the airport reversed the tide . Even flying while enemy jets were circulating the air was a tough move.
  6. Of course it is a cult. They wasted all the good work they did throughout the decades. They were the allies of AKP and Erdogan but decided to take the power through illegal means, With a listening device they bugged all government miniseries and military leaders and recorded all private conversations. In 2013, through these devices, the Gulen prosecutes and judges charged ten cabinet ministers and military generals. Most of the generals were accused for plotting against the government. Through judicial coup , they almost destroyed the government of Erdogan and people poured in the streets. Since they infiltrated all governments , they spilled government secrets and all military operations by feeding their own papers. In fact they are a parallel state that does not want to openly contest elections. This was not a military coup , because most of the leaders of the military , including the chief of staff, the army, air force and navy chiefs did not participate the coup. Through the Turkish intelligence service, the military received around 4:00pm about the coup. They issued ordered grounding all flights and called back those who took off. At 8:00pm all no movement orders were completed, yet the Gulen members embedded in the leadership of military bases issued new orders. Imagine , the chief of staff of the Turkish forces was detained by his own secretary. Erdogan aid de camp, the colonel who should be with President in his travels, was with the coup plotters. Like robots, the Gulist were given orders and they persecuted without questions which is a cult like They did not care about the country or the lives of their citizens. They called themselves the peace counsel. First, evil terrorists bombed Istanbul airport and killed almost fifty people, then the coup followed. I would probably say that the Gulen people had some support from foreign powers to destabilize. Turkey. They are state within the state, yet all the educational and other services provided by this movement should be saved . Schools and hospital services for the needy must be preserved. The biggest fear is the Gulen movement's interest is more important than the people and the state.
  7. What these stooges do not get is that people should not be forced to the formation of this state. The temporary constitution says , " two ore more states would make a federal state, at the same time people should not be forced in to joining one ". Regardless, the consent of the people is paramount. people are free to reject this state. The people of Hiiraan seem to be the last proud Somalis who are trying to get back their freedom from IGAD. Neither Hassan Culusow nor his stooge Gabre, can force these Hiiraan people who seem to know their position well. Soomaalida xorta ahi sidaan ayaey u hadli jireen. " Beled Weyn Allahayow ka dhig Xero Barwaaqo ah"
  8. Che, you are correct. It is false state. If it disintegrates , we will have 10 million refugees in our borders. The first million will settle in Hargeisa.
  9. A US general, Wesley Clark came out early and indirectly told the plotters about their weakness of not controlling TV and internet, and be hold , soon CNN Turk and others media were put off line. They did not condemn immediately the illegal coups attempt, but they are pointing out the how a coup should be staged. If this are your friends, who needs....
  10. I wish Erdogan would have intervened Syria earlier, establish no fly zone and protect the civilians fleeing the conflict within Syria.
  11. Turkey is not Egypt. In NATO, only USA and Britain are more powerful than Turkey. They have the second largest army in NATO . In economic terms, they are #15, and by 2025, they will be the tenth largest economy with 90 million people. Turkey will be stronger despite the failed coup.
  12. Seeing the animosity the Woyane are spreeing in Ethiopia, they will probably be hunted down by other ethnic groups. They are also ready to declare Tigray to be their state as soon as they loose power. This country will be like former Yugoslavia disintegrating in six or more counties.
  13. The Woyane power will disappear as soon as Somalia takes it's place in the horn. I have no doubt.
  14. Turkish media says, a group of soldiers from the first army tried the coup. They took over basically television stations and some important places. The commander of Istanbul region said they are in control and the plotters will be crushed. The plotters killed some police officers which are all against the coup. One of their helicopters were also shot down. They will not succeed. They will get some badly needed publicity from CNN and the foreign press who will have a field day about instability in Turkey. Erdogan will have a good excuse to clean the house from the old guard military members. This is not 1980. Viva Turkey, Viva Erdogan.
  15. In the spring of 2017, people in Somalialnd are anxiously waiting the Elections for the parliament and the president. The election for the parliament has been already postponed twice. The last parliamentary election took place in 2005, some eleven years ago. As usual, nothing is done until the last minute , and then it is pushed back to unknown date. In the next spring election, both of these elections are supposed to take place at the same time. According to insiders , Siilaanyo and company are pushing for two more years of extensions , but, will eventually settle for one more year and will hold the election in April of 2018. When members of the media inquired about the extension, Ahmed Siilaanyo's spokesman rejected the idea as a rumor from the media. Rather than push the extension plan from their office, Siilaanyo and company are hiding behind the do nothing parliament who want to push the election as far as possible. Members of the " Golaha Wakiilada" as they are called , are demanding that the two elections should take place in a different date, preferring theirs to be first. I do not know why they want to held their own election ahead of the presidential one, but few theories come to mind. First , by holding both at same time , those who are seeking the highest office in Somalialnd , will concentrate more on their own election than individual candidates who may or may not be in their camp in the future. Secondly, money and campaign resource are limited and each group want to use each others man power exclusively. Finally, the members want to win under Siilaanyo's leadership and have independent choice before the election. Anyway, there could more reasons than we could imagine. Despite their personal reasons and plans, the " Golaha Wakiilada" never will or never had any backbone to affect any change in Somaliland. From time to time , they may agitate to get some attention, but they do not legislate or regulate. They are sitting ducks who collect their salaries . Since they are sheep pushed around by the herders at the Siilaanyo headquarters, we should all assume that it is not their idea to postpone the elections. So, why now and who ? , what are Siilaanyo and company are planing. According those who participated the last Istanbul Conference, Siilaany is planing the next face of Somalia negotiations. The last conference was different from the previous ones , and participants were from the civil society who did not had mandate to to conclude any final deals, but had open forum to find the best possible way to achieve some form of union. After contentious debate , they all agreed to keep this kind of talks. Also, in order to accommodate the hardliners and stake holders , participants encouraged the invitations to former SNM members, regional members and even Khaatumo supporters. Since then, a lot has changed in the region. There is constant conflict in the eastern regions of Sool both from within and without that community. Tensions from the Ethiopian occupied Zone five and Somalilnd border communities. Somaliland leaders should know that the world is not static, and what worked in the last century might not be possible now. According to Somaliland sources, Siilaanyo is preparing a government of national unity to face both the Somali issue and the regional problems. As soon as he secures the extension to April 2018, he will form a unified cabinet ( Dawlad Lagu midaysan Yahay)that will include both familiar and new faces. That cabinet will have more powers than those we have seen for the last few years. I am not sure if they will conclude the eventual union, but they will have an agenda to rule many years to come. Among those who will join this new government of Siilaanyo are: Ahmed Ismail Samatar Cawil Cali Ducaale Faysal Cali Waraabe Boobe Yuusuf Ducaale Mohamuud C/laahi Sifir Samsam Cabdi Aadan Baashe Mohamed Farah Hassan Ciise Jama and some more... In other words, this team will be constructed in a way to confront the agitators . You may ask what about the opposition and the Kulmiye guys who waiting to replace Siilaanyo?, The opposition will agitate as usual, although this kind of constant postponing of the election will eventually favor the opposition because, by the time the extension is over , this government would have been in power for eight years. For Muuse Biixi and those waiting in the wings, it will be a very difficult dilemma. If he fights Siilaanyo and company , he may lose both the financial purse and the support of the government, on the other hand if accepts another extension for Siilaanyo and company , that would be another two years of long campaigning . We shall see. For some , postponing the elections means avoiding chaos. Since no news is good news, they will prefer Siilaanyo to stay put for few more years.
  16. Early this year, I was talking to a friend about a future change of government in Somalia He said , Damujadiid will not accept or allow anyone to replace them in office. He said ," in order to get their way , they will not stop at nothing". I though he was speaking in hyperbole or the usual bribing of the parliamentarians. He looked at me and said ' Waar nimankani cidii ka hortimaada way khaarijinayaan, niman naxaya ma ahan, maxakamadihii hubaysnaa ayay ka soo hadheen oo dilku waxba kuma aha". Roughly it means , they will murder on their way to power. At that time I did not believed that scenario of eliminating opponents in order to keep the power. Since then a lot of reliable people have spoken about Damujadiid's unscrupulousness. All that is cleared this week by the president himself. IN a speech to the Eid sermon he clearly spoken about his enemies. While pointing fingers to Al=shabaab and other extremists, he said ," The second most dangerous group to our government and the nations is those who speak about our actions or what we did not do or putting down our success". He points the finger to those who want to correct his mistakes and steer him in the right direction. Last year it was Cali Khaliif who said " If I got killed or something happens to me , the president will be responsible". Since he is a dual citizen, he even informed the American embassy. Members of parliament are killed and bombed at will, ministers are dying inside hotels, yet he does not want people to point out his negligence and in ability to protect his own government. Since I am one of the critics of president Hassan , I have to think twice about my own travels back home. The idea is to intimidate his opponents before the election. After all is said and done, under the leadership of this president hundreds of Somali civilians and large number of generals, ministers and parliamentarians are killed. Yet he want to be rewarded.
  17. About a month ago, a Somali community activist in this town , accused the local police of mistreating Somalis and other immigrants. In order to get publicity through the media, he held a town hall meeting asking Somalis to bring forward their police horror stories. Fortunately, he did not get any big misdeeds other than the usual complaints about an fair ticketing or police responding late to their 911 calls. Most of the community and other activists did not share this campaign of targeting the police and eventually both the police and the Somali community decided to cooperate and understand each other. The police, like anyone with a power to inflict deadly force, are necessary evil to protect the public and safeguard the law. When there is treat to your safety, the only resource for law abiding citizens is the police. On the other hand, criminals are becoming more daring and dangerous. In the 21st century , police do not deal with usual criminals who are expected but, an armed assailant with ax to grind can emerge from no where and inflict damage to anyone which makes the police nervous. While there are few sociopaths in the police departments, the majority are law people serving the public. We Somalis used to complain about the police for their lack of resolving murders in our community. This year about 28 people are dead because of homicides. Over 90% of them are white and the police have solved only 29% of the crimes. It is not like television were crimes are solved by finger prints and other flashy ways of Hollywood. It needs time, resources and breakthrough from witnesses. Crimes committed among gangs are hard to resolve. Anyway, The Somali situations is getting much better, families are waking up on the issue of idle youths and the lack of supervision . Many other young Somalis are also turning the page. For the last two years , we had about four murders, which is a big improvement. The latest shooting of a black man in St,Paul, Minnesota, have caused a lot of uproar from the black community across America, which in turn culminated the senseless murder of five police officers in Dallas, Texas. As many here in this pages had expressed, the shoot first and ask questions latter attitude of the American police, should worry all black people in general and the American people at large. Now , the main issue is how to minimize these deaths and improve the relations between police and minorities. We all condemn the senseless murder of police officers and the killing of Philando Castile the Minnesota man. If certain things do not change, both in America and the black community , these and many more murders could continue an abated. One is cultural in the black community, and the other one is racism and systematic attitude of law enforcement. Blacks must change their cultural practices and life style or they will keep dying with gun shots either from the police or from within their communities. 1- Blacks murdering other blacks is pandemic. If you randomly check the crime statistics of any major American cities, you will be surprised the number of black youth killed in the hands of other blacks. They are either drug, gang, turf war related, or just senseless murder of one another for useless reasons. The local police and front line people have been sensitized to this constant deaths, it is becoming normal as long as those killing themselves are blacks. This is the Chicago city crime statistics in 2015. 2015 Total Chicago shooting and death. Shot to death: 446 Shot and wounded: 2250 Total shots: 2996 Total shots homicide :508 80% of those killed are blacks, 16% Hispanic and 4% white. These things are normal among blacks in major American cities, yet no one is addressing this issues. Just like the right wing American media is wiping the isolated crimes of the so called radicalized Muslims, the left wing media is magnifying the deaths of blacks in the hands of white officers. It become a normal way of life for blacks to be murdered by their own. If you lived in any major American city, As I did about 14 years ago, black crime is in your mind. In the year 2000, I was a taxi cab driver in Dallas Texas, on of the biggest American cities in the south west. Although I stayed mostly at airports to pick up passengers that are mostly business travelers, who are much saver compared to those in the city, yet, every time I ventured to get a fare in downtown or surrounding neighborhoods, black crime was always in my mind. Almost 80% to 90% of the city cab drivers were black Africans from Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, Ghana, Nigeria, Eriteria or East Indians. We used to hear the publicized complaints of black American about discrimination of cab drivers towards them. For almost everyone of the cabbies , it was music to their ears. It was about life and death. The vast majority of the encounters with the black Americans used to end in disagreements, quarrels, fights or disappointments. Of course their were many good black people you enjoyed talking to and who made you feel at home, but most, especially the youth, it always ended up in regret. The rule was avoid black people from the inner cities as much as you can to survive. When the market forces are in action, no government oversight or by-law will force people to change their attitude. Rather than focus how to interact and respect these cabbies, all you hear from the blacks were how racist these cabbies were. Well, tell that to the black Nigerians and other Africans.. Just like the cabbies, police and others see these daily killings and crimes among the black as normal clamminess that go with black neighborhoods. As such, people and police create a different rules for blacks in America. It did almost happened to us here in this province of Alberta, Canada. Some eight years ago, we lost over twenty young Somali men in one year. Lucrative drug trade, money , inter province travel and hard headed Somali attitude, created a uncontrollable dilemma for all. Every bad kid or gang wannabe arrived in this oil rich province , and wanted to be rich without working hard. The police was unable to solved most of these crimes because of the uncooperative nature of the Somali witnesses. In Some cases those who got shot , but survived would not identify the killers or talk to police. In some cases, little disagreements among Somalis in night clubs would culminate in to shooting. Because of the outrage among Somalis, and the collective efforts taken by the community, crimes are going down and the youth are realizing the devastating effect of this. Furthermore , the black community should stop speaking or caring for criminals who are threat to them and the public. If someone is robing a corner store or wielding a knife , we must assume something bad is going to happen. Here in Canada, police shoot every month some white people who are wielding baseball pats or other other metal objects, and they are exonerated without charge. In this white super majority province , white criminals are killed, captured and persecuted by police , and no one will claim to be their race. Unlike black America, they are just criminals removed from the society and everyone will welcome their demise. 2-Blacks must stop relying on the government and create their future like everyone else. Since the majority culture, business and media of North America is Euro-centric, It is expected for black people to feel marginalized or dominated. Institutional racism is here to stay for many years to come for people of color and other visible minorities. Having said that, that does not stop blacks and others to succeed or achieve their goals in life. If a black man raised by a single mother could become the president of United States and win consecutive mandate from the American people, certainly , anyone could achieve their dreams. As I mentioned , the market forces are bigger than the government or the pigmentation of your skin. The market forces follow their own rules and the best way to participate is to understand through education and life skills. Just like the caravan or the engine , they will just keep moving regardless of the noise of the crowd. The black people either must created their own culture, business and private environment to thrive within their so called black culture or must learn how to conform and prosper the larger American culture which is inescapable in today's America. The Dallas city which is in the new these days , has a large black population. When I lived their , the mayor was black, 75% of city employees were black and many others have held county and state wide offices, yet , even among the black middle class neighborhoods, it was difficult to find a black owned business or gas stations. Because of the underclass criminals rooming among the law abiding blacks, even gas stations had bullet proof glasses and iron bars. The only way to prosper to these citizens were to leave their neighborhood and live with the larger American populace. Other than the useless Hip- Hop culture, which demeans women and encourages gangster life style, blacks are not building sound and lasting business and private enterprises that would improve their communities. As native Americans, they should be the first ones to fill the millions of jobs that need skilled workforce. The black youth must abandon the flashy lifestyle of sport and music, and learn the slow , tough and time honored hard work of education and life skills to prosper in this life. That task needs the commitment of black families to stay together and nurture their children. 3- Change the victim mentality. There is no collective rights in a capitalist democracies. Every man , women , old and young are their own individuals. You could improve your own lot or those you make contacts but, at the end you are only responsible for your own family and the community you live in. Black people should stop worrying about the past and start leaving for the future. Here in Canada, the plight of native Indians or aboriginals are pronounced in the media almost every hour of the day, yet nothing changes. Everyone keeps repeating the injustices of white settlers of 200 years ago or the residential schools which robbed their culture, but all that rhetoric will not resolve their current state of affairs. Can you imagine the Somali refugees who showed up in Canada in the early nineties, have more university graduates than the million aboriginal natives of Canada. It is all about attitude. The victim-hood is an obstacle for success. The Chinese were the slave labor that built the rail roads, many nations were interned and put in concentration camps. The black people must stop being the victim and build their future. In America, the blacks have a tremendous opportunity to leave behind the culture of poverty and destitute. Rather than been policed, be the police. Eliminate and subdue your own criminals while nurturing your law abiding communities. The systemic racism. The systemic racism of some white Americans is not going to disappear for a long time. Some human attitude can only change through time or reversal of fortunes. in the seventies and eighties, In apartheid South Africa, the Chinese were considered to be the same status like Indians or little bit higher than blacks , while Japanese were considered white. It was all about economic power, influence and respect. Unless the situations of the blacks change in terms economic power and education, the ignorant red necks will only see what they see in the media. In America and in the capitalist world , people respect success. In that scenario, the African continent must improve economically and institutionally. The image of the black people projected in the American media had made the black people as underclass thugs that is much different from the larger Americans mosiac. All you see is people who not only look different, but who also speak , behave and act differently from the other Americans. It is few and far between to see a well spoken black characters who is acting like a normal American middle class. A large segment of right wing America have created a vast network of radio and television directed at degrading, badmouthing and undermining black people. In the name of law and order, they made jails out of huge industry by incarcerating pity criminals and drug addicts. They introduced draconian laws to suppress black votes. Rather than help the unemployed youth through job training and skill development , they putting them down. Since the modern youths are not static, they are developing new ways of making unearned money through illegal means. In return, the right wing America built a huge justice system and law enforcement apparatus to deal with the over follow of these unemployed youth, then they filled up jails. For these zealots , the African American youth are undesirable misfits that has to be removed. To avoid the traps of the institutionalized racism and self inflicted wounds , Black America must work hard. Marching and chanting will not resolve. They must look within their own short comings and improve their lot.
  18. Akhyaarta., the police issue is complicated but, personally I will always condemn the murder of police officers by a deranged gunman. Angry and evil people who take laws in their own hands are very dangerous for all especially we Muslims who could be victims of Angry Right Wing nuts. On the other hand , sometimes it looks like neo Nazis and members of KKK are joining the law enforcement institutions to create a race war. Also the conduct of media is really evil. They are creating chaos. I will explain my take on this extensively. Be ready to the usual Galbeedi's boring essays.
  19. Mooge, Netanyahu is a right wing nutcase who did not do much to bring peace in the middle east , but I would not mind sitting down with leaders of Israel. The Somali state should be free to sit or make diplomatic relations. Morocco, Qatar, Egybt, Jordan and Turkey have all relations with Israel. We should not ask anyone permission to make a deal with anyone. The Jewish state is a powerful country that has a lot of influence in the world and we Somalis should talk to them. Of course we must push the two state solutions and peace in the region. The coward Hassan Sheekh should not hide and lie if he sat with Natenyahu.
  20. Maakhiri, I was unable to access this article . Somehow access was denied or Che and Beesha Lixaad attacked my computer. Anyway, On some of the Issues , I stand corrected. Definitely , there is huge gab between male and female in terms of education, wealth and access that must be addressed. On second thought I should not have mentions the professional women in Nairobi and their Jobs. God forbid some deranged extremist might have interpreted in dangerous way. We all have certain chauvinistic DNA in our blood that rears it's ugly head once in a while. I did not have any agenda to smear Sahra Samatar. further more I should have threaded carefully , especially since she might not have ugly tribal Somalis which could defend her. On that note I should probably take back some of my article. I am a champion of women and I support them to reach as much high as possible. In my own family, I have a niece who is graduating from engineering, A sister in law who has masters degree and another niece training as medical doctor. City or urban dwelling and middle class women are achieving higher goals than Somali male counterparts. The Somali women that needs hand are the poor and the rural communities. Soon tens of thousands of women will be home coming from Dadaab refugee camps. They need shelters, schools, hospitals and clean water. They do not need sermons from the Nairobi based NGO"s. Having said , let me defend myself on the issue of the report. It is written by a half dozen organizations specifically for Somalia. It was written by the NGO's,and others, among them : UNDP, UNWOMEN, DFID Unisom, and many others that the sister herself mentioned. Probably millions of dollars were spent both in Nairobi and New York. We were a country before and we live in countries were national issues are save guarded and implements according to their customs. This report was copied and pasted , and then translated to Somali. Of course Somalis need A gender equality commission and report, but it must be written by us with the help of foreign experts. The Somali state of today or the one that is coming next 10 years could not implement even 10% of these reports. Look at Turkey. With less than four years, they built hospitals, schools for girls, shelters for orphanages . They directly touched the lives of men and women. Can anyone tell us What have the women's ministry and their entourages have done.? personally , i do not know, but all i see in the media is what we call " Xafalado". They children's day, the women's day and the refugee day in lush Mogadishu Hotels. Have you ever seen a nation built by donations ? no way. We need the real capitals who transform nations.I am a Businessman who always wants to see what has been produces or built. I have no time for sermons. I want to see a Turk, An american or Chinese build some sweat shops , factories and mining the resources. In the meantime , if they want to use slave labor or cheap labor to succeed so be it. At least the decaying muscle of The Somali man chewing "Chat" will produce some thing before he expires. As for these " Gadhcaseyaal" that our friend Che posted here, I have no use for them. What else do you expect from Wahabi inspired Gadhcase. We know over 80% of the mosques are controlled by Saudi inspired Wahabis. Their teachers are the same people who believe that a women should not be driving. They are enjoying themselves, and it is not over. This coming Friday sermon, Sheekh Aadan Siiro from Hargeisa will flow, then Sheekh Hassan Daheeye from Boorama and another one from Boosaaso and so . It is called red meat in the political circles. Do not give them the opportunity to claim false sense of duty. My point is Somalis are bombed by Takfiris who are using religious to maim and kill. Do not give them ammunition. Do not weaken the good Culima who are standing up them and do not embolden the enemy. As I said both the Wahabis and the NGO's are foreign to the Somali DNA.
  21. they equal and that issue is not controversial. What people object is the top down and force feeding/
  22. I welcome women to run for office but , i do not like the way they trying to achieve. You remember Ayaan Hersi . She was from one of the cosmopolitan and famous family , yet she claimed to be abused by arranged marriage and other backward issues that did not happen . She did all that to gain power. Now there is this beautiful Somali lady who looks like original Somali ( maariin dhlalaal xiga waa midabka Soomaalida) who is running for president of Somalia. I welcomed her candidacy, then just like Ayaan , she makes this unbelievable story. She says her name is Fadumo Dayib. She said Dayib means sufficient, because her mother lost her first 11 children whom all died for decease and she was the number 12 who survived. She wasn't born in the fifties but eighties were Somali urban and village life was tough but not disastrous. I can not buy that. She is from Finland.
