  1. Somaliland in first vote for MPs The government fears al-Qaeda attacks during the election Voters in Somaliland are choosing MPs for the first time since the territory declared independence from Somalia 14 years ago. All three parties competing put the quest for international recognition at the top of the agenda. Somaliland broke away from the rest of Somalia in 1991 when President Mohammed Siad Barre was ousted. Since then, it has established a reputation for peace and stability - in contrast to the rest of Somalia. But last week, seven people were arrested in Somaliland, accused of being al-Qaeda members intending to destabilise the election. As polling stations opened, queues formed in the capital, Hargeisa, with early voting going smoothly. Criminals banned BBC Africa analyst Grant Ferrett says that the economy has flourished and there has been widespread re-building after the destruction of the war, much of it funded by remittances from overseas. SOMALILAND POLL 246 candidates - 7 women 82 seats 3 parties All seek recognition of independence 800,000 eligible voters Q&A: Somaliland votes He says that while foreign governments have been wary of further destabilising Somalia by endorsing the breakaway republic, the failure so far of the latest attempt to create a functioning central government strengthens the case of the authorities in Somaliland. President Dahir Riyale Kahin says he hopes the poll will "compel the international community to accept our rights to join the world community". A total of 246 candidates, including seven women, are contesting the 82 seats in the lower house. Candidates must demonstrate adherence to Islam, be at least 35 years old and in good health. They must be high school graduates with no criminal record. The constitution limits the number of parties to three. It also forbids the creation of parties based on region or clan. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/4292678.stm

Pay bills/buy clothes/car parts/shoes/hats/sports gear/airline tickets/hotel bookings/football tickets/ congestion charge the whole lot! If my details are used wrongly, then i 'hoping' i have some protection rather than 'knowing'.

  5. lol@dribbling capabilities dont u just love a yank's terminolgy on football, lol Your right saxib, Liverpool hav been robbed by Chelsea before on handball decisions but i guess the refs were not big enough to give the decisions As for the other teams from Europe, we will have to wait and see, i think this may well be another English CL winning season, but its still alittle early

    Ramadan (Q A)

Salaama Calykum I recently prayed with a number of people who worked at the same place (as each other). It was time for Duhur, as we were about to begin one them explained that they were prating 2 rakca for Duhur and 2 rakca for asar. After the two rakca i carried on with an additional 2 as required for Duhur. I later asked some of the locals why they were doing this. They mentioned that if your 7km (some said 12km) away from your home, then this can be taken as travelling (even if you dont leave your city). I was very skeptical, if anyone could please expand on this i would be greatful.
  9. LST hit the nail on the head, making money is easy, saving is the hard part! A no access savings account (1 month notice) is the best option, but watch out for the interest, drop it in the unwanted interest box at the mosque.
  10. the gap between the Premiership champions and European champions is not as wide as some may have you believe. Chelsea packed the middle of the park and didnt play because we were tactically better, one good chance for Robben but we should have got BOTH penalties, the ref was scared of Jose Moner! Negative play, he makes a sub in the 90th minute (Rob Huth), where is all that talk of revenge? Where was all that stuff they have been saying in the media all week? Onto Sunady!
  11. No saxib, your just another Gunner with limited knowledge of the game, the guy who puts Pirlo infront of Makalele  Didi is an old man now but there was no better diff midfielder before Makalele came to the Prem, if you actually watch the games you would have known that, but i guess you only pay attention when Arsenal are on and Henry is on the ball like everyone else at Highbury We will compare the three in the world cup IA!
  12. When did showing someone an image or series of images dowloaded onto a mobile phone become an offence. Yes the guy was dumb for doing it, but these westerners are little over the top some time. A fine would have been enough but a jail term is over the top. I have seen ppl have these images on their phone (i havnt watched any of them as would'nt be able to stomach it both physically and mentally)and have warned them to get rid of the images before they stopped and searched one day. A breach of the peace  but the Brits (with many Scottish regiments)are the ones who caused this image on the video in the first place
  13. Its a very common aspect about Somalis to ask how much you earn or how much was this or that, just say alxamdullilah and they will get the idea, if they persist you should come up with a question of your own, like why do you care? WOL: could be your first victim
  14. It is your opinion saxib and a good one at that but Makalele is the man in central midfield, Didi Hamman comes a close 2nd (not being baised at all)even though he getting old. Who toke Germany to the final in 2002? He made a mistake in the final though to let in Ronaldo  Pirlo is over=rated in my book, he has skills no doubt but i thought Gattuso was Milan's anchor man? Just saw Barca destroy Udinese, bring on the Russians!
  15. In the 80s there was a Brazilian who smoked 40 a day, he a doctor and played in 3 world cups, so what gives???
  16. Makalele give way to Pirlo???? Are u serious man? What is it with Gunner fans saxib, they like the overated players and diss the 'real' players. I have a freind who is always going on about Robert Pirez (i have always thought hes overated, a part from the shimy he did vs Cannavaro in the 2000Euro Final to set up Trez) All the Milan players on that list should not be on that list. Scheva maybe, but the rest no way. Scheva had a mediocre season at club level and so di the Milan defense. How can you lose a 3 goal lead in the CL final??? and then be in the best 11 for last season? The votes were fixed i tell ya! Canavaro should take Nesta's place, Cafu was tortured by Sun Ji Park formerly of of PSV, Lampard should be replaced by Stevie G, Dida to be replaced by Cech (Even though he wasnt really tested enough). Anyway, apart from that, 2nite is a CL night, enjoy!

  18. That autobiography kept me warm during those cold days on the tube in 2001-2002. Just the other night i was reading a post about on how two people became muslims but Malik Al Shabaaz's was truely an amazing story.
  19. Some wonderful transitions to Islam,,,, They began calling me seedi (‘brother-in-law’)
  20. Badnews indeed, waxaa waligood Burco kuma sameyeen! NGONGE, true thedetails are little vague but time will tell, the S/land govnt may actually be biding their time and getting all the details together before naming names
  21. THat poll was a load of cr*p, apart from a few players, the rest was absolute twash! I dont know where the 36000+ players came from but it seams to me that they only the CL and no domestic games at all.
  22. congtrats to the new mods, enjoy your term in office and stick to your manifesto (eat drink and sleep kubad (or baluni for others))
