They are reliable but at times the size can be a little small or big and occassionally the orders can take longer to be delivered as they are often mailed direct from India via fedex. I usually order their Long Kurti shirts and their coloured abayas. Another outlet with nice abayas is artizara though they are expensive. For the fashonistas in UK, for long dresses, tunics and skirts apart from departmental stores like Debenhams, monsoons.. Wallis often has a neat collection.

  3. Another article on the same topic. Dear Brothers and Sisters As saalam alaikum. It is highly recommended for Muslims to fast the first ten days of Thul al Hajji. 'Eid al-Adha may fall on 27th Friday or Saturday 28th of November. It implies that one should start fasting on Wednesday, 18th or Thursday 19th, November 2009. You should prepare your self to fast these ten days. I have not hard official announcement. Of all the days of this world, the most excellent are the Blessed Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah. Allah has preferred the Ten Days Dhul-Hijjah over All the other Days of the year. "By the dawn, By the ten nights And by the even and the odd" surah al-Fajr 89:1-2 The virtue of these ten days is confirmed in the Qu'ran that Allah swears an oath by them, and swearing an oath by something is suggestive of its importance and great benefit. Allah says: "By the dawn; by the Ten nights…" Surah Fajr 89:1-2 in the opening above verse of Qu'ran. Ibn 'Abbas says about the Ayah, "Remember Allah during the well known days," that it refers to the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. Dhul-Hijjah (the Month of Hajj) is the 12th month of the Islamic lunar year. According to the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, the first ten days of this month are a special time for devotion . In particular, the 9th day of the month marks the Day of Arafat, and the 10th day of the month marks the Eid al-Adha. There is no day on which Allah frees more people from the hellfire than on the day of Arafah; on this day sins are forgiven, Allah becomes closer to his slaves, His Angels boast of the people standing on the plain of Arafah, as they stand, humbly, sacrificing, remembering Allah and seeking His forgiveness. This is the day of the Great Pilgrimage; a day of praise for Allah, a day of remembrance and repentance. So fast this day of Arafah and make for yourselves a portion of Qu'ran to read or remembrance to make and seek His forgiveness, in the hope that He will accept it from you and shower you in His mercy, in both this life and the next. And who from us is not in need of this great bounty? It was during the Ten Days of Dhul-Hijja that Allah accepted the repentance of Adam, when He relented toward him and restored him to His grace at Arafa. It was during those Ten Days that Abraham the Bosom Friend-Ibrahim al-Khalil (peace be upon him) obtained the bosom friendship bestowed upon him by Allah, having sacrificed his wealth for the sake of the guests, himself for the sake of the fires, his son for the sake of the Criterion-Furqan, and his heart for the sake of the All-Merciful. It was during those Ten Days that Abraham Ibrahim (peace be upon him) constructed the noble Ka'ba. It was during those Ten Days that Allah honoured Moses peace be upon him) with intimate conversation. It was during those Ten Days that forgiveness descended upon David-Dawud (peace be upon him). It is recommended that we make takbir i.e. to say Allah Akbar (Allah is the Greatest), tahlil, la ilah illa Allah (there is no deity except Allah) and tahmid to praise Allah by saying al-hamdullilah hamdan kathiran. Therefore, we find in the hadith of ibn Umar, “Make tahlil, takbir and tahmid much on these days.” Al-Imam al-Bukhari said that Ibn Umar and Abu Hurayrah would go into the market in the first ten days [of Dhul Hijjah] and make takbir and the people would follow them. When someone asked: "Is there nothing to match them, not event in fighting for the cause of Allah he replied: There is nothing to match them, not even in fighting for the cause of Allah, unless it be a man who rubs his face in the dust. Of all the days, there are none in which Allah (Exalted is He) more dearly loves to have worshipful service performed for His sake, other than the Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah. If someone devotes the Ten Days to fasting, Allah will record a whole year of fasting in his credit column, for each and every one of those days. For each and every day you devote to fasting , you will be credited with the freeing of a hundred slaves , with a hundred she-camels for you to guide in caravan, and with a hundred mares for you to ride in fighting for the cause of Allah. Then, when it comes to the Day of Tarwiyya -8 th of Dhul-Hijjah , you will be credited with the freeing of a thousand slaves , with a thousand she-camels for you to guide in caravan, and with a thousand mares for you to ride in fighting for the cause of Allah. Then, when it comes to the Day of ‘Arafa - 9 th of Dhul-Hijjah , you will be credited with the freeing of two thousand slaves , with two thousand she-camels for you to guide in caravan, and with two thousand mares for you to ride in fighting for the cause of Allah. Fasting on this day will forgive for the sins of two years, that is, You will also be credited with keeping the fast in the year before this one, and in the year to come after it .' 10th of Dhul-Hijjah is known by most as 'Eid al-Adha . It is incumbent for the Muslim to make every effort to perform the `Eid Prayer wherever it is performed, and to be present for the Khutbah and benefit from it. He must know the wisdom behind the legislation of this `Eid. It is a day of thankfulness and performing deeds of righteousness. So, he must not make it a day of wildness, pride and vanity. He should not make it a season of disobedience and increase in the forbidden things like, uncontrolled amusement, intoxicants and the like - those things which could cause the cancellation of the good deeds done in these ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. ‘Of all the days on which righteous work is performed, nothing is dearer to Allah than a man who does righteous work during these days'. meaning Ten Days Dhul-Hijjah. No good deeds done on other days are superior to those done on these Days , the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah. The Companions submitted: ‘O' Messenger of Allah, not even fighting (carrying on Jihad) in the cause of Allah? He (S.A.W) answered: yes not even Jihad in the cause of Allah except in the case of a person who goes on Jihad along with his life and his property and does not come back with either (i.e he is martyred in the Jihad) Tradition. Allah has preferred the Ten Days Dhul-Hijjah over All the other Days of the year. The scholars of Islam, in discussing the virtue and excellence of the these Days say it is because they combine the essential acts of worships in Islam including prayer, fasting, supererogatory acts, charity and pilgrimage, as these are not present in any other days. For this reason they said that the first Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah are the best days of the year, in the same way that the Last ten Nights of Ramadhan are the best Ten Nights of the year. With no exceptions, not even the last Ten Days of Ramadhan. But the Last Ten Nights of Ramadhan are better, because they include Laylat al-Qadr ("the Night of Power"), which is better than a thousand months. The key word here is Day not Night being mentioned to clear any confusion.! Also, Fasting any of the 1st Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah is equivalent to fasting one year and to offer salatul tahajjud (late-night prayer) during one of its nights is like performing the late night prayer on the night of power-Laylatul Qadr.
  4. The meaning of " Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilahi Raaji'oon" & seven names of Allah Inna lillaahi wa inna ilayhi Raaji'oon Yeah, sure we say this statement when someone dies. Also some of us may say this sentence when they lose something, suffer a setback or harm. But......... ..do you know what it means? Sure, everyone know that it obviously means 'To Allaah we belong and to Him is our return.' But that's not what I am talking about. I mean ....do you REALLY, TRULY understand these words and their implications in a Muslim's life? It means ....whatever we have is not really ours. It belongs to Allaah. Take a look around you; everything you see, all that you have and all that there is....in you, on you, around you....belongs to Allaah, alone. It is Allah Who has given you all the property and goods you possess, and that He is the true Owner of them all. So the cars that you own, the houses that you live in, the businesses you possess all truly belong to Allaah The kids that He blessed you with, the health that He gave you, the time that He has allowed you are all Allah's property. Even the bodies we live in and the life that we have belongs to Allaah alone. "And to Allah belongs the inheritance of the heavens and the earth...." (Surah Aal-Imraan:180) "The kingdom of the heavens and the earth and everything in them belongs to Allah. He has power over all things." ( Surat al-Ma'ida: 120) 'Say: 'To Allah belongs the East and the West...' (Surah al-Baqarah:142) Now, since everything belongs to Allaah, then we have to include even our souls in that list.. The very souls that we think of as our "self"; our "nafs"; our "being" -- whatever you want to call it -- that very thing that distinguishes you from the rest of the world, belongs to Allaah. It's not YOURS. In fact, YOU are not YOURS. You belong to Allaah. And this is the essence of the concept of slavery to Allaah in Islam. And since He is the true Possessor of everything, and everything is His property, He allots what He wills to whomever He wills...A 6.and then He takes it away. After all, it was Allaah's to begin with. So He may give you some thing and then take it back after a while.. He will bless you with a precious child that you love dearly...and then He may take it away. He will grant you money, honour and status.....and then He may take it away. He will give you youth, vitality and health and then surely He will take it away. In fact everything you have will only be with you for a very short while. And then the Owner will claim His Right. So when Allaah does reclaim what was rightfully His, WHY MOURN OUR LOSSES? Just like a friend who lends you his book. And then after a few days, he wants it back and you give it back to him...no regrets..... no sorrow....no questions asked. Similarly, if Allah takes back some of His blessings upon you for some reason....so be it. Say Alhamdulillaah. Don't grieve. Be patient. 0A Submit to the will of Allaah, being pleased with His decision for you. For surely He will only do what is best for you. Just think.....The Owner came and took it back. Remember.... that you're not the real owner.....you were NEVER the real owner to begin with. You only had everything because it was Allah who gave it to you in the first place. If He didn't give it to you, you wouldn't have had it in any way...in fact, you couldn't have had it. Remember.... .man enters into this world empty handed...and leaves it empty handed. Remember.... that everything we have, all the blessings we enjoy, are gifts from Almighty Allah....gifts that we enjoy for a limited period until He takes them away whenever He deems fit. They are a trust from Allah...a loan to you....to see how you respond to these gifts from Allaah and how you use them.....in the obedience of the Almighty, thanking Him and worshipping Him......OR. ........to the disobedience to the One Who gave then to you in the first place. Take note of the words of the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) on the=2 0occasion of the death of his son, Ibraahim: 'Our eyes are filled with tears, our hearts with grief, but we say nothing with our lips except that which pleases Allah.... Verily, to Allah we belong, and to Him we return.' (Bukhaari) And we all know the famous incidence about the companion Abu Talha and his wife when one of the sons died and Abu Talha was not at home. She washed and shrouded him and when Abu Talha came home and asked about his son, she said, 'The child is quiet and I hope he is in peace....' (Bukhaari) Subhaan Allaah....such patience! And such Imaan in the statement "Inna lillaahi wa inna ilayhi Raaji'oon"! She truly understood its meaning and the affect it should have on her life as a Muslimah, submitting to him and being pleased with whatever He has decreed for her. She knew that whatever she has, is not truly hers. Rather, it is Allaah's.... and He took back whatever He owns at its appointed time. And it is because of this Imaan so strong, this understanding, that the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) made dua for them and Allaah ble ssed them immensely. "'They (i.e. Abu Talha and his wife) had nine sons and all of them became reciters of the Quran (by heart)." (Bukhaari) "Be sure we will test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives, but give glad tidings to those who are steadfast, who say when afflicted with calamity: 'To Allah we belong and to him is our return.' They are those on who (descend) blessings from Allah and mercy and they are the once that receive guidance." (al-Baqarah: 155) The Prophet (PBUH) said 'Pass on knowledge from me even if it is only one verse' seven names of Allah The eyes beholding this message shall not behold evil, The hands that will send this message to others shall not labour in vain, The mouth saying Ameen to this duah shall laugh forever, Remain in Allah's love as you send this Duah to everybody on your list. Have a Love ly journey of life! Trust in Allah (SWT) with all your heart and HE will never fail you because HE is Awesome! 1 min for our Creator - is it possibly too much? AL-QAYYUM, AL-MAJID, AL-WAHID, AL-WAJID, AL -AHAD, AL-SAMAD, AL-QADIR, Please send these seven names of Allah to your friends please don't ignore...... ... 1 Minute for Allah: Say with your heart and tongue: *SUBHANA'LLAH *ALHAMDULI'LLAH *LA I LAHA ILLA'LLAH *ALLAHU AKBAR *ASTAGHFIRU' LLAH *LA ILAH ILLA'LLAH, MUHAMMADUN RASULU'LLAH *ALLAH UMMA SALLY WASALLEM WABAREK ALA SAYYEDINA MUHAMMAD
  5. Assallamu aliakum everyone, Tomorrow is the start of the month of Dhul Hijjah, the month in which Hajj takes place and the first 10 Days of this month are very special. Abu Hurairah relates that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "There are no days more loved to Allaah for you to worship Him therein than the ten days of Dhul Hijja. Fasting any day during it is equivalent to fasting one year and to offer salatul tahajjud (late-night prayer) during one of its nights is like performing the late night prayer on the night of power. [i.e., Lailatul Qadr]." [This is related by at-Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, and al-Baihaqi] Next Thursday: 26th November will be the 9th of the month, the day of Arafat. It is strongly advised to fast on this day as it will clear your sins of the past year and the following year. Abu Qatadah reported that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "Fasting on the day of 'Arafah is an expiation for two years, the year preceding it and the year following it. Fasting the day of 'Ashurah is an expiation for the year preceding it." [This is related by the group, except for al-Bukhari and at-Tirmidhi] What sort of extra good deeds can you do? 1. Fasting these 10 days 2. Giving more charity during these 10 days 3. Say the "Eid" Takbeers loudly wherever you go. (Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. Laa ilaaha illa Allah. Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. Walillaahil hamd.) 4. Try to pray more prayers in the Masjid 5. Increase ties of kinship (visit family, say kind words to them, etc.) 6. Perform more voluntary prayers at home 7. Read more Quran, contemplating the meanings 8. Do more Dhikr 9. Ask for forgiveness more frequently Keep everyone in your duas. From Dua power.
  6. Subhanallah, what happened to the boy? Couldnt decipher the whole article. Alhamdullilah, some help has been provided.
  7. Lol. My whole family was there and I can see one of my siblings in the photo. Oh boy!!! I am still waiting for the youtube video I was promised. I heard from them that there was a great turn out, Alhamdullilah!!
  8. Naden, try to find what triggers your migraine.Keep a small notebook, it's always good to know. Some triggers to note: stress, hunger, food esp. chocolate and cheese, exercise, fatigue, some food additive, menses and strong odors. For sunlight try to wear sunglasses and in the mornings try to open your curtains or drapes slowly to adjust the brightness. I have a bout once or twice a year and usually happens when Im very stressed out or if Ive had an overload of Dairy products especially strong cheeses. Sometimes it is associated with my menses. Because mine have become infrequent over the counter painkillers have helped me havent used prescription medication for almost 10years Alhamdullilah but my mum still has her terrible ones and she's on medication. I havent tried acupuncture so I cant comment. Depending on the frequency and intensity of episodes you may need to have your prescription changed or have a drug added. Out of curiosity do you only take the IMITREX or you take it with an NSAID? If you dont discuss with your doc to add an NSAID before changing to another drug or increasing the dose.
  9. Congratulations Val wish you all the best. To the Honourable Ngonge... that was a terrible title.
  10. I am surprised to know this piece of information I always assumed with all the Turks in Germany there would be a strong supply of Halal food I guess they were importing more from Turkey. Thanks for sharing,Cowke
  11. Things humans do  Honestly I am not surprised have reading disturbing stories than this.. done in the arab penisula by arabs to fake virginity. Wont be surprised to hear husbands may buy human blood detection kits to determine if the stain is real blood or not - goat or synthetic dye. blame it on watching alot of CSI .And there will be more $$$$ wasted.
  12. Interesting discussion, I agree with the replies posted but would like to add this. In countries where the Hijab is prohibited e.g Turkey and France alot of Muslim women opted to wear a simple wig to cover their head than have their hair shown. Some Ulamaa's of those countries agreed on duress that wearing a wig is better than exposing one's hair. fii amanillah WOL.
  13. Asalaam aleykum Would like to add www.islamictube.com www.hudatv.com > live streaming www.livestation.com ..> live streaming then search for islamic channels have Iqra tv and other Arabic channels fii amanillah WOL

Nin Yaban alot of sijui's were brought up with noone in the family speaking somali to them. The elders spoke amongst themselves. So dont blame the kids. And Im only a 2nd generation Somali born out of Somalia. I feel proud to see alot of my generation wanting to learn af somali. Im one of the few who now can say Af somali wabaraneya... instead of saying I dont speak nor hear at all. Though the truth is learning af somali is BONGE LA SHUGHULI. Man, the pronounciation ni nauma.Anyway taking it one day at a time. Back to the Swa speakers nice to have a swahili crowd again here. Najua mnazungumzia muziki mimi nampenda mzee mshua - Sir Ebbo the masai guy... nyimbo zake zina message even Prof Jay. Kuna wakinadada wanatoa muzuki mnyororo ajabu e.g pia lakini sijasikiliza mabiti siku nyingi so nimeachwa nyuma kidogo... lakini asantani for the choices mloziacha hapo. Talking about comedy aka kina Mzee Kingwendu youtube have some swahili comedy especially the hilarious zeecomedy show. Ziko uptodate with political issues in east africa. At times though I miss zile za kistaarabu za viroja mahakamani, kina Mzee kayayi na mzee Mombasa..

Im in a hurry right now but will upload some of the images, Inshallah.
  19. Have been tested before and dont mind getting tested again. Important thing for me is to know I am healthy and havent picked a disease which could be transmitted to others. By the way Hepatitis B is more prevalent in Somali community and that is spread more easily than HIV and also has chronic consequences. Education and precaution needs to be emphasised more on these 2 diseases. Best of luck with the program. Stay brave.
  20. The siren, I used to but havent hit the pool in a while. Its a great form of exercise. Ive just received news our Mosque had signed a contract with YMCA to have a special -women only day privileges. Buuxo, Sorry to hear that. Ramadhan with the added blessing of the extra prayers of Tarawiih suffice as exercise. Just think about it, standing, ruku, sajda then up again. Takes alot of stamina and commitment.
  21. I can't beleive you are quoting the ONION.
  22. Inna lillahi wa inaillahi rajiuun brother Che, May Allah give your family patience and may He have mercy on your father's soul and grant him amongst the most successful in Jannah. Inshallah Amin.
  23. Originally posted by *Ibtisam: quote: Margareth Mattaba Chacha, the managing director, said: “We know some women hesitate to come forward – they are too shy and think they don’t know anything. How patronizing and rude! Actually, she is spot on. It is true in what she says. In my country women are the most illiterate and down trodden. They dont know the fancy business jargon or basics but they know how to save and ration their money wisely and be the pillar of support when things go wrong. Most of them work miniscule jobs - mama ntilie(street food vendors) or farmers or owners of local pubs. With all their effort they still are poor. Another thing is the lifestyle is still male dominated so women need encouragement to make their own financial decisions as well as gain their independence. I have met many women who work to make ends meet and the husband comes home and blows all her savings at the pub or on investments without her consent or say. She ends up frustrated; her capital is gone, her childs school fees as well as the small savings for that little hut she aspires to build. And there is nobody who can help her. Govt doesnt care as well as the established banks so she heads to the Ushirika(coop)banks or small groups to ask for help; that is the case of a knowledgeable one, the poor one will go back to her lady freinds and extended family to get a new capital and start over again. And most of the time they face intense humiliation or tough terms. I hope this venture will help educate these women on wise investments as well as give them resources to become more productive and independent like the BARRA (Bangaledesh Rural reconstruction Association) projects which empower the community. My major concern is this wont be another scam or failed project to fleece the poor. A couple of coops/ business(pyramid) schemes have fleeced people in the past in Tz including one run by the former first lady while her husband was still in power. Wouldnt like it to happen again.
  24. Jazakhallah kheir Bilaal, nice series indeed. This one freaked me out, more.
