  1. Yes,we should. Something in the right direction has to be done. Most importantly reaching out to the younger community by male role models, assistance to get a good education and securing jobs as well as healthy constructive dialogue by academicians, respected sheikhs/ulamaa and concerned parents. The whole community has to be involved. Most of parents and relatives are still in denial and end up heart broken when their youth end up calling them while in Somalia saying their final goodbyes.. and at that point the parents understands one way or the other they have failed their children. Alot of these youths are bottled up or only exposed to one side of the story, dont really know their true Identity i.e have inner conflict on being Somali or being a Muslim at the same time acknowledging their new identity be it British/Danish/American etc. There is alot of work to be done. May Allah give people the courage to be bold, understanding and make the move to save our younger generation. Amin.
  2. Wallahi, I am amazed by people who seek attention just for personal gain.. first came the Heenes with their balloon stunt then the Salahis. I wonder what will come next. But atlast there are some laws to put such people in their "rightful" place. They should have added behavioral therapy and family counselling too as the parents have shown more of a narcissistic personality disorder. And their kids may still be at risk. Balloon boy parents get jail time, tough probation By P. SOLOMON BANDA Associated Press. FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The parents who carried out the balloon boy hoax were sentenced to jail Wednesday and given strict probation conditions that forbid them from earning any money from the spectacle for four years. Richard Heene was sentenced to 90 days in jail, including 60 days of work release that will let him pursue his job as a construction contractor while serving his time. His wife, Mayumi, was sentenced to 20 days in jail. Richard Heene choked back tears as he said he was sorry, especially to the rescue workers who chased down false reports that his 6-year-old son had floated away in a balloon on Oct. 15. It was a stunt designed to generate attention for a reality TV show. continuation from the source.

  6. JB and Hodman, Im glad to hear the peace offering is working it's magic, CL Mpendwa, I couldnt help myself they were fighting about Mombasa and Nairobi... of course ZNZ would be the perfect destination Originally posted by Norfsky: quote:Originally posted by Warrior of Light: Ah, to settle JB Vs. Hodman.... why not go to Zanzibar? You get the old and new, adventure and slow paced life. And alot of good food and beautiful beaches. Ah, miss home Hi WOL. Where would you recommend? Which town/city/hotel? Family friendly. Norfsky: I always stay at family homes when Im there. If you want to enjoy the slow zanzibari life and enjoy the heritage you have to stay in Stone town for a few days.. Visit the few museums,Palaces, mosques, Forodhani(Sea front also open aired food courts at night), if you go in July you can attend the Zanzibar film festival. You can also take a day boat trip to visit Prison Island(Chuguu) and also get to see or ride on the giant ZNZ tortoises.Or visit the other smaller Islands. To enjoy the beaches you can go to either of these areas- Nungwi(North Coast), Paje or Bwejuu(East coast), Mangapwani(West coast). On the way to Paje and Bwejuu you can visit Jozani Forest and see the endangered Red colobus Monkey. Kids love it!! What I usually do is I split my hol into 2. Few days spent in stone town and more days spent at the beach houses in Bwejuu. Now when it comes to Hotels: Stone town has alot of them from Serena, Tembo hotel to family owned ones. I would have to read the lonely planet guide to give you advice on that. Or get inside info from my people in Tz. For Nungwi the best hotel is Ras Nungwi very modern, youve got the best pristine beach great for deep sea diving too. Bwejuu there are a couple of houses you could rent out and enjoy the beach. You will be responsible for your own meals or have a maid help you out can be arranged with the home owners or you can decide just to eat out!! Apart from that there are some great small family friendly locally owned hotels and restaurants with great food throughout the stretch from Bwejuu-Paje-Jambiani. The thing with zanzibar right now is there are so many new establishments being built and there is great competition. So you have alot of alternatives to choose from. .. Sorry for hijacking the original thread and for the salesman pitch
  7. Curly, thanks but it is a bit premature. I just made a comment

  10. Hodman, I though by now we would have a full blown support team with some lead coachs and even reserve players . My mini-me's Inshallah are in the waterworks. Will update when But the scientist in me is doing the research. Have some free time on my hands.

  14. It is a sad story makes you distrust people especially at a time of celebration and jubilation for such an evil act to occur. Im glad the Emirates govt are being open about this and it isn't swept under the carpet. May Allah give strength and patience to the family of the victim.Amin.
  15. Maximus powers, thanks for starting this thread. Enjoyed watching New Boy , I could relate to it. Shukran.

All I can say is Somali's are a beautiful race Mashallah. And as with all humans a little effort wont harm anyone although alot of Somali's get away with it. Only thing I would like changing is their vibrant miss-matched outfits but Ive come to terms with that once I meet the person and appreciate their unique personalities.

  20. No but lived in a country which hosted alot of ANC veterans. And was lucky enough to get a glimpse of Mandiba on his release when he visited my home country.

  23. That's not a healthy diet it's starvation. You will be breaking down your muscles and losing water. In a week or two once back on your normal diet you are bound to put on more weight than you lost as your body has been prompted "to store" more because of that unbalanced diet.
  24. I dont have a job. But when I did have one, I had a problem with people who didnt listen to instructions and kept making the same mistakes or kept asking the same questions without making an effort to do it right..
