  1. Aeron that was in '02.. and you're embarrassing me
  2. Oh? So what are you now? - Cuban? I'd hate to think the Communist is winning in this Split Personality battle. Come back to Khaldaania (Great suggestion. Maybe we can finally rid ourselves of the 'Somali') dear. We are kind to the confused

  7. Loo00ooL@Fara Farayn. Aeron, leave people alone. There will soon be a petition out to ban you otherwise. The subtle democracy in place works sometimes, you see. [ September 28, 2005, 07:34: Message edited by: Legend of Zu ]
  8. ^ thats because waan kuu naxney. I think you'll have to refute some1 like Mernissi who has done extensive research and studied Islamic history, with a little more than that buddy

  11. Xiin, sorry I was away maantoo dhan. Shopping. Gotta look trendy and go out in style ya see. Hooyo says my jacket could feed a whole family in Somalia for a month - how is she to understand, it will keep me comfy, snug and up myself for all of 3 months? Anyways, waad mahadsantahay for your efforts. What prompted this discussion was my reading of this book: The veil and the male elite - a feminist interpretation of women's rights in Islam. In the book, Fatima Mernissi argues about the authenticity of this hadith and provides a compelling argument. You should read it, its very interesting. Also, I've been told that this hadeeth applies to a perfect Islamic state and a woman may not hold the position of Amir Al-Mu'mineen or khalifah(coincidentially, this word does not have a feminine gender in the Arabic language as well). As the world stands today with us dabbling in democracy everywhere, there are no objections to a woman holding the highest office in the country. Athena for Somaliland prez 2020. LoL. p.s. Falxado sounds more n more like farxal or foolxuma maalinba maalinta ka dambeysa.
  12. Baashi, are you suffering from PMS? Or is this a rare case of 'sympathy symptoms'. The thread doesn’t belong to you so the bye bye’s and exits are unnecessary.

  14. Baashi, don’t be sidestepping my point. You’re making assumptions about the posters and even went as far as calling the sisters ‘non practicing’ for disagreeing with this categorization. If that is your idea of expressing ‘your strong opinion’ or rather the one you made out of thin air with no substance, so be it. I’ll just be sure not to engage such nonsense again! As for the topic, its being regurgitated one two many times for me to bother with it. I don’t agree with labeling or categorizing. Period. p.s. No worries. All expectations have been tossed out the window as of now.
  15. Baashi, Your usual reasonable train of thought has skidded off track so much lately, me wonders what will become of you now. Commentary on social issues is supposed to be fair, balanced and far from labeling people to be given any merit. You write [iman is a starting point of embracing Islam].. but pray tell, how is hijab a measurement of one’s Iman? I know Iman to mean so many different things and is applicable to so many other facets of one's life. Infact, I’ve just tried to think of what Iman means to me and I cant put my finger on it… perhaps you can help me here? I absolutely understand why the non-practising sisters would protest. That is quite understandabvle. Where is Caano Geel coming from? You’ll have to excuse me for coming down on you this time.. but I’m a little annoyed with ur approach to gender-discussions. Listen brother, your reasoning as of late is very short of my expectations! When Brown and Castro didn’t agree with your manly-man definition, you questioned their manliness. Now you’re askin Caano where he is coming from because he doesn’t agree with your thinking. As it seems, any man who doesnt see it from your needle-vision has problems. And lastly, you’re implying that the only sister who objects to this thinly veiled sexism masquerading as genuine article is a ‘non-practising’ sister. Not only will I request you to start following your own advice and not personalizing issues and discussions, but at once cease and desist the preposterous assumptions!
  16. 1 Reason why its gr8 to be me. 1. I’m exempted from home-chores. The girl’s gotta study 2 Reasons why it sucks not to be mod anymore 1. The curiosity is killing me…what the hell happens in the ‘staff office’? 2. I cant tell who is who anymore. If you change your nick, you’re a newbie to me and free from any preconceived prejudices I’ve towards ur old nick. 3 Reasons I miss my job 1. I’ve become a total hermit. No after work socializing or meeting friends. I’ve been home for a whole week. 2. Post-its – miss those funny post-its ‘dumb and dumber’ used to leave on my desk most morning. 3. Surfing SOL and the net guiltlessly all day… 4 things I must get done ASAP 1. Book the damn driving test already! 2. Organize myself. 3. Buy my dad the books! I just know he is gonna call today and ask. 4. Join the gym and the badminton team immediately. I desperately need to increase my stamina. Sitting on my behind this many hours cant be good. 5 things I simply must S-T-O-P if I’ve any shot at succeeding in life 1. Procrastinating (Stop thinking about it.. do it!) 2. Depending on my forever failing memory (electronic organizers?) 3. Surfing the net for leisure 4. Eating at the wrong times or not eating at all. 5. Being up myself (Yes, I admit).
  17. ^ Depends... maxay kugu sameysey 7 - the unfeeling blonde? Forget her. Meet iBabe..the swinging, feelin chic
  18. ^ Yes, I'm finding it very funny that the only thing wrong with men is their domestic handicap. (Altho I can attest to Nasra being quite domesticated )
  19. One Sheikh said that if you make a contract agreement (either verbal or written) with your wife that you won’t marry another wife with her, it’s obligatory to keep such contract. The other Sheikh disagreed. He said such contract would violate the very basics of Islam. He cited a hadith that state any contract that’s contrary the Kitab of Allah is Baadil That’s an interesting point. New and improved logic. I’ve never heard it from this angle b4. So basically, there is nothing to stop a man from marrying another woman and the woman has no choice whatsoever in the matter…. before or after marriage. Can you elucidate on ‘contrary’ to the kitaab al-qur’an? Keeping in mind that the Qur’an doesn’t encourage polygamy to begin with…unless I misunderstood this too  . In the end they concluded that it’s not permissible for a woman to ask for a contact that violates the Sunnah and it’s not permissible for a man to sign a contract knowingly he’s going to break it later. Its istubidh to sign any contract if you intend to break it. *Thinks she has paraded herself infront of the swirling daggers... but some1's gotta take the shot... so maaha? *

  22. Sheh, whenever I put something in quotation marks, there is a hint of sarcasm. LoL. But, having studied in an Indian School, I can say from experience that I find Indians to be the most tolerant people in the world when it comes to faith. Its natural for Hindus to celebrate Eid and Christians to partake in Diwali and Muslims to sing Christmas carols on a regular basis…all in good faith and neighbourly courtesy. As you might be aware, Indians don’t particularly have a lot of single-faith schools and all their children attend schools where every faith is promoted and a lot of compromise goes on. It’s the ease with which all these faiths mingle in India that makes it ‘unity in diversity’. There are no religious wars, just minor conflicts. The operative word here is mainly tolerance and understanding, not necessarily acceptance. Also, on a general scale, I think Indians of all faiths are somewhat laxed about their religion and keep personal convictions as that. p.s. Yes, its Ramadan I'm worried about. I'm feeling the pressure of final year and I can never study on an empty stomach. InshaAllah bikheyr laakiin. p.p.s. Only in India @ the story.
