  1. Qimaha iyo wax heysashada ma aha mutually exclusive. We can marry nin qiima leh who can also take good care of our family. Of course hadii ha la kala doorta la dhaho waa sheeka kale but some lucky girls have it all and it is not too ambitious to expect that ....

  3. @ Blessed you may not be hard hearted but that comment was think before you say. I tried to tell you in a nicer way but you didn't want to listen. In any case this thread is about Adan Abukar; the hero ee macsalaam.
  4. The phrase is now a term of endearment for a child who has done something sweet. It is also a way of saying thank-you. Due to its association with "sweet" children and bolstered by Cotton's simplistic views it is often used ironically, thanking someone in a position of authority for suggesting a benevolent, yet simplistic even childish view or solution for a difficult situation. Sometimes just a humorous thank you like " I'll dance at your wedding with bells on. Link;http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/21676#ixzz16DnOcu3W Cambridge;http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/british/bless-their-little-cotton-socks Apparently it is a common expression but totally inappropriate tin this context. Now it is your turn to hold your horses and go to google

'Bless his / your / her cotton socks' is a common phrase used to express great appreaciation, kow dheh. The link I've posted is a discussion of the incident, which lead to talk of how people can help him if they wanted to, which got me thinking of he's lack of possessions. p.s when I say, 'hold your horses', fardo run ah kama wado ee la soco.. Horta forgive me for not knowing all the English expressions like you do  . I agree it is is ok to say bless his socks if that is an English expression lakiin why would you ask the if he has cotton socks? Jees jees soo ma aha qof London homeless ku ah in the winter in aan dhahdid does he have cotton socks? See the bigger picture and have a heart for your won sake. Ps; You said you liked the comments on the link ee you didn't say anything about helping him.
  6. Ah ! The irony of this thread; the irony of our lives. Look at all these people complaining that the Arabs are erasing our culture whilst speaking English. Of course they are erasing our culture but you want to know who else is eresing it? Everyone;most importantly you and I. majority of us have Arabic names and speak English even though we could have translated the names in to Somali and speak Af Somali. Balan baan baan qaaday in aan ilmaheyga u bixinayo magacyo Somali asal ah. Marar badana waxaan ku fikiray in Facebook iyo SOL ba ku hadlo Af Somali lakiin I feel like it is a losing battle Finally, I have to leave my culture and follow some one else's I would rather follow a Muslim one  .
  7. Originally posted by Resistance: Horta the guy is not homeless as per say, the media needs to portray it as such to sell the story, he lives in a hostel where is awaiting to be housed, which is a common process everyone who wants social housing goes through in this country, and he works as a chef as was stated in the story, so technically he is your average londernor. Blondy i don't doupt his herosim at all, what he did is noble and was righly lauded by the media, but we ( as in the Somali comm ) need to milk it too much. Your idea of who a homeless person is is wrong. People living in hostels are considered homeless so don't explain something that you don't really understand your self. You are right, there is a hero inside all of us but not one as great as him. I wouldn't have the courage to jump into a river to save some one and neither would you (I assume)or the avarage Londerner.
  8. @ blessed abaayo your comment sounds a little hard hearted. The man is homeless ee why ask about cotton sock and bless them  . Let us remember him in our prayers.
  9. @ I am not going to point out lakiin sheekadad qeybta hore iyo qeybta danbe meelbeeyna iska qaban and that shows wax ka jirin. @ The Zack I am not under 18 but I still feel like indhaha in laiga violategareeyay...dacwaan ahay hadaba.
  10. Gaadhi laguye....who cares about a car? We can buy our own cars or what ever. Again the traditional ways to prove your manhood don't fly here anymore. They may be part of the work but you need a lot more like .... I don't know...personality.You realy need to be a man to pass for one i'm not in the business of impressing anyone here, I don't even have a private message option. @ Chimere did you have to get that defensive. Impressing someone doesn't always involve hitting on them. You were just being appreciative of all the Somali women including your own mum and sisters.
  11. I just get the feeling that you miss nice and friendly Canada
  12. @ Aaliyah it is not NinaNC abaayo it is that man called Nuune oo mesha wax aan loo joogin ku soo qoray. Planka ka sii fikira xoogaa bal I will provide more details ee. @ The Zack adigu Canada iskaga soo laabo waan kuu jeedna ee.

  14. @ Nuune the verses you quoted are totally against the whole idea of marraige and decency which is what were talking about. How to convince gabdhaha in eey muska kula galan lagama hadleynin @ Aliyah adiga iyo Ninanc rich women baa tihiin baan u maleyn. I would be more than content with 1000$ a week at least for the next few years after school. Like I said that was an exagrateed amount actauly; the real amount is about 500$ a week
  15. Cabdi many of us live in qurbaha and are as Somali as can be. There are many great Somali sisters in qurabaha if only you alter your personality and sort out your own issues !
  16. Originally posted by Cabdisomali: quote: @ Chimere thanks for standing up for us ! We appreciate you guys too. Wow, good job, girls r impressed with u! Happy? Keep up nacamleenta Abti. Somali women have always been there for their men(brothers, husbands and sons) and are simply the best.
  17. @ The Zack aniga my mother told me about the dhaanto oo la isu qaado. It is usually provoking verses between a group of girls and guys and it goes from there. Another style was ardaaga in uu yimaado wiilka and when the rest of the famliy feels where his interest is in laga qaleeyo labada qof oo ee caweysinka ku sheekeystaan. I never heard about labo nin oo hal naag kor taagan. Waxaaba dhaanto oon maqaly gabdha oo gabadh kale loo diro. As romantic as that sounds, I prefer the 24 hours cellphone calls as long as it is the guy that receives the 300 $ bill LOL @ Nina ii kaadi aan iskuulka dhameeyee you will hear my sales pitch. Ilaa aad taleefnada iga dansataan ood block i dhahdaan SOL waan idinku wadi uun.

  21. @ Chimera gabahdhan weey quruxbadantahay but you are righ the ones in your picture are more natural and more beautiful. @ Libaahe you keep saying she is beautiful FOR a Somali/an African model? What are you implying adiga? The girl is a beauty but I am not into the whole modelling business !
  22. TheZack is totally wrong about the old school shukaansi....wax ka jiraba malaha waxaas. It is absolutely different and a lot more interesting No one ask me how I know

  25. You write; In addition, something needs has to be done about these soft brothers: oo gabdhaha u nacamleeya no matter what. These passive brothers also ruined things for us, by being too close with them girls; to the point where they (girls) can’t tell the difference between them and their female friends! And so when a real bro steps up to the plate and lets them know what’s up; the fact he is not after their friendship, but something more. They are confused, cuz she is used to the sissies. See that is the root of your problem @ Cabdi Somali the desire to hide behind being a real brother or a real man.It doesn't make you less of a man to open up and show tenderness to a woman after all that is what love is about. Inadeer let down your guard, face up to your insecurities and correct what is wrong with you. Looking at hadalkaaga I am not surprised that you have had such bad experiences with women. You get back what you give and deserve.... "When you come looking for sugar, your bag will be examined to see how much it can hold it will be filled accordingly" Rumi @ Chimere thanks for standing up for us ! We appreciate you guys too.
