  6. I doubt he wrote that too. Actually, I would say he hadn't written that letter..unless u prove me wrong! Don't propagate bad things, that u are not sure about its source, about dead pple.
  7. Somalis that say they have nothing to do with their fellow somalis and somalia, should be told that somalia too has nothing to do with them! Am I wrong saying that? No
  8. I say try 'indignant poster' it would be a perfect fit...u may collect few points with Admin/mod...that makes ur day . Don't experiment with 'Headcase'...u wouldn't be able to keep up the lunacy..intermittent mental derangement associated with the negative tribalism! I wouldn't wish that with the good nomads who post here on a frequent basis.
  9. Oh boy! There is nothing wrong to discuss an issue...and this one is not different than any other thread. So all the alarmist who are so sensitive or perhaps think that every1 sees things through their lens should stay away!!!!!!!!!!! Leave admin/mod to sort things out. A nomad is wondering what these names mean...thats all Kownayn, I agree what u wrote there...amin
  10. Arab or African? Before I give my opinion, do we have to rely on what others think/write about us or what our oral history says about us? Think about it! What does ur grandpa/ma think about this issue? I just refuse to take instructions, dubed as knowledge, from colonial spies who were made scholars by powers they've been working like Richard Burton and I. M. Lewis.
  11. I don't know! but I notice non-Somalis bragg about their past and sometimes over do it by repeatedly mentioning how their bfs used to buy flowers etc. Somali women shy away their past cuz our norms is kind of biased. We expected them to be angels. If they come out of closet and tell us their past(negative), most of us don't consider them as wife-to-be partner...so why should they bother...in fact they lie about if their past is not imperesive. By the way, shyness is a good indicator of the one's character.
  12. Heheeeeeeee...@JamaaL-11 I would say 'Tuug 3' is leading so far...and here is the review for Qurbo Jaceyl. Bartamaha Aasiya ayaa OG-Moti by wiil-belo ina Dhurwaa-liqe oo badi miyigaa Somaaliya looga yaqaan Jinni-gubtey markii ugu horeyseey naxariis iyo gacallo qaadeysaa ka dib markii uu Shabakada(internet) kala sheekeystay inan isku tilmaantey iney tahay dhuubo-dhex-yar, qallanjo-qoor-dheer, oo aalaaba dadka ceelka MPLS ay ugu yeeraan Kamila laakiinse jecel in loogu yeero Quman-si-xun-wax-u-arag, ka dib markii dhowr cisho haaswaawe iyo baashaal ay shabakada isku maaweeleyiin. Belo-sheeg oo ay wiil-belo isku rag yihiin kuna nool MPLS yaa ilaalo loogu direy inuu soo xuuraamo inanta wiil-belo cajibisey. Belo-sheeg wax uu u tebinayaa in Kamiila ay 4 ciyaal oo kala aabe ah ay leedahay magaceeda runta ahna uu yahay xuux-ha-i-eegin...giraantu kolka ay halkaa botorineyso ayaa wiil-belo oo radio biif-baaf-col u joog dhegadhegeynaya yaa waxa ku soo dhaceysa in Belo-sheeg uu iimaanka la'yahay deeto waxa u yeelayaa sidii wiil hoog lagu yiqiin...Ha moogaanin qisadan qaloocan ee aan kheyrka ku dhamaaneyn .
  13. Enlightening! Well...I say we need Globalization for investment. But it has its drawbacks..that is mega-corporations, who r out to look after their bottom-line, will dictate the terms to their advantage - make no mistake they run this globalization show. Their 'advantage scenerio' stretch from sweat-shops to the weak environmental laws so that they will be free to dump waste into the surrogate nation. Nationalism is not a variable in the socio-economic equation. It is, however, cohesive catalyst that sheds light the importance of the law, land, religion, and culture. Its drawbacks include militaristic impulses that can be triggered by a simple emotional speech.
  14. Muraad, Very interesting...but for carrying out loud! don't call Osman Atto a "Ruug Cadaa"...most wicked and corrupted warlord...Drugs, Scrap biz, enslavement (farmers @fields), Bililiqo, clan cleansing..mention that and his name comes out the top. I agree 'gidigood waa isma dhaanto iyo dhasheed' but it seems that they are in charge so lets hope that they will come up a viable state ...then we will bring them justice when that state becomes strong...Insha'alah.
  15. Steve, What u r missing is a common sense...I said this cuz I wouldn't mind if u were a victim of the "Media" lies but it seems to me that ur problem is a deep seated hostility toward Islam and u r looking some1 to confirm it for u..even the far right, biased media won't do it for u..how sad! Barwaaqo...u put it quite eloquently...u r very articulate sis.
  16. Robert Novak is Arab decent!!!...Man! That explains his commenteries. If he is really an Arab decent..he is the first brave arab I encountered in America. That guy has balls!
  17. I got it from the "nation of poets" site by Deeqa Here is an excerpt from a letter Margaret Laurence wrote to her friend Adele Wiseman from Somalia June 15th 1951. "I wish you could see some of the people here, Adele. The degree of physical beauty among the Somalis is absolutely incredible, when one considers their uncertain diet and the fact that sometimes they are reduced to starvation. If you search Mayfair and Champs Elysees and Fifth Avenue(fashion districts of Europe and the U.S.), you won't see women more beautiful than some of the Somali girls I have seen." Hey, is that incredible or what. I have always known Somali women are beautiful but to say this, that they are more beautiful than these women with all their wealth. But, we are also talented and inteligent. Yap. She also wrote in another letter on Feb 12th 1951"The remarkable thing about the Somalis, tho, is their terrific pride and dignity....they are , I imagine, about the poorest people in the world, and their country is about the poorest, also, but they walk erect and proud, and look you squarely in the eye, and what is more, they love their barren little land." That is right, Margaret. Nomads r beautiful and dignified pple...nowadays u kinda doubt that...but don't! and understand every nation go through a cycle of difficulties (pol., econ., soc.) and we gonna pull this one off...we were a nation-state for about what...40yrs!!!! Keep the faith and keep ya head up
  18. There is no such thing as progressive, liberal, or conservative muslim. Anything goes as long as there is no directive (Quran and Sunnah) that forbids it. Usury (what ever form or color it comes whether it is fixed, prorated, or variable) is always forbiden.
  19. Actually is getting easier!, I gather. Wedding receptions r getting way too much expensive! Nowadays chiks are more realistic, and desperate for decent men..dowry is the least thing u need yo worry about...getting a decent, law-abiding, old-school, smart, independent, nomad-lady is price u need to be after...they are a rare comodity to find in the Qurboland
  20. heheeeeeeeeee! If u were the genie, u would have given the same answer. I rated it 3.
  21. Much appreciated. thnx thousand times.
  22. Allaha soo hanuuniyo, What we need is a sister (not bro) nomad with little karti who looks into the allegations. If their any truth in this women's accusations then the sis should tell it as it is and she should clarify that Islam is not at fault here but the culture is. Remember this lady used a so called 'field research'...refute it and brust her buble. The sis should go back and interview as nomads as she can and ask them whether they consider Islam a backward religion..whether they were abused...etc. I bet they come out strong and deny the allegations and that puts the ball squarly back to that lady's field..she would be in the defensive. If we bash here and threaten her then she would become a poster child of all kind of opportunistic politicians who want to implement anti-immigrant policies. I say play and beat with their game...see..u will have a 'women', a muslim, a minority who have a credibilty with her community and that will boost the pro-immigrant crowd.
