  3. CiidanSuldan, What someone else done 500 years ago or hundred years ago meant nothing today. These idea of nostalgic era, or the conquest of early Muslims has no bearing in today's world. The era of conquest or empire building is past tense. If you really interested how empires, whether, Muslim , Roman , Christian or Persian have done , let me give you small example of yester years empire. Once upon a time , there were small northern tribe called English. With help of other residents of the British Isle ( scots, welsh and others), they conquered and ruled north America, Africa, Australia India and Middle East. They were industrialized and educated tribe which have done a lot throughout their empire. With less than 10,000 army they rules 300 million Indians and Muslims of India. Today that India is going to be a world power. All that British empire disappeared in the middle of the twentieth century. The Muslim empire disappeared more before over 300 years ago. At least the British empire was replaced by other great nation like America, Australia, Canada and others. You don't see the English crying for the loss of their empire. THey moved . Did you heard about Napoleon Bonaparte who conquered Europe and reached Moscow in early 18th century. He parked his horses in Azhar University, in Egypt, the one thousand years old seat of Islamic learning. Please move on. The so called middle east that which is poor without the oil is nothing. Even with their Petro dollar , the combined economy of the whole Arab world is equal to that of Spain and Portugal in terms GDP and production. You and your friends must stop running around like wild dogs. Patience, honesty , and hard work is needed to build a functioning state. The Feudal Arabs must adopt and stop killing one another. Within six months ISIS will be without bullets. who ever sponsored them has abandoned them.
  4. the big difference between Muslim converts of yester years and those new ones converting today is the ideology and the people teaching them. They used to be people who were eager to learn, and deepen their understanding of Islam. They were good people who could see both sides of the coin. Today most of these new Radical converts are learning middle east nationalism and ideology, which is completely different than the basic tenets of Islam. I do not have empirical evidence , but , I believe the radicalization is done by Wahabi followers from the Gulf especially from Saudi Arabia. Rather than learn their new faith, they are told to wear a big bear and wear different clothing. Rather than change their inner sprit, they are told to change their appearance and hate their surrounding including their own communities. They This man converted just over a year, yet already shows contempt for everyone .Wahabi are also the bogeyman of international terrorism. They could easily sponsored to wage wars without c consequences. Everyone can use them for their ulterior motives. They must be stopped before they reek havoc around the world.
  5. RCMP confirmed that Martin Couture-Rouleau's passport had been seized and that he was radicalized. He may have been just a "lone wolf", working without links to any other radical groups, his deadly actions possibly motivated by Canada's involvement in the fight against ISIS. But what's known for sure is that Martin Couture-Rouleau had been considered some kind of threat by the Canadian government. And as details began to emerge about the 25-year-old, who had a pressure-washing business registered in Quebec, they began to paint a picture of a man who seemed to have embraced extremist ideas, and who, according to one friend, dreamed of dying as a martyr. As Public Safety Minister Steve Blaney asserted at a morning news conference, Couture-Rouleau, who waited in a parking lot for at least two hours before driving his car into two Canadian soldiers, was “clearly linked to terrorist ideology.” ■Patrice Vincent ID'd as soldier killed in Martin Couture-Rouleau hit and run ■Martin Rouleau, Quebec driver shot by police, 'radicalized': RCMP ■ANALYSIS: Has Ottawa been too slow to take on radicalized Canadians? The RCMP revealed that officials had been monitoring Couture-Rouleau closely, concerned that “he had become radicalized." On Tuesday, RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson confirmed that Couture-Rouleau's passport had been seized and that he was one of the 90 suspected extremists who the RCMP believed intended to join militants fighting abroad. Martin Rouleau Ahmad The Converted A photo of Martin Rouleau holding the Qur'an. He had changed his name on Facebook to Ahmad the Converted. (Ummaland) And all of this has left his friends and family in shock. Gilles Rouleau, Martin's father, was in tears this morning when he spoke to Radio-Canada 'I lost my son' “I lost my son, my son is everywhere [in the media] this morning. Leave me in peace. I have no comment." Coutoure-Rouleau lived with his father in a St-Jean-sur-Richelieu white brick family home, where neighbours say they watched Couture-Rouleau change over the last year since his conversion to Islam. They say he grew a beard and stopped wearing jeans in favour of Islamic clothing. CBC News spoke with Faisal, a Facebook friend of Couture-Rouleau’s in Saudi Arabia, who described Couture-Rouleau as a “really kind person." He said he befriended Couture-Rouleau on Facebook and began messaging him in June. "I was actually looking over some posts on Facebook ... and I saw all these people, they were for some reason dissing Islam, making fun of us, so I saw him actually replying in a really calm, modest, humble way," Faisal told CBC News. But Faisal added that this was before he found out Couture-Rouleau was a supporter of ISIS. Faisal, who spoke on the condition CBC News not publish his last name, said he changed the topic of conversation in the few instances Couture-Rouleau mentioned ISIS to him. He referred to Couture-Rouleau as “Ahmad,” the name he adopted when he converted to Islam. Faisal said he lived in Canada for a period of time, and did not agree with Couture-Rouleau when he allegedly called some members of Canada’s military personnel “infidels.” Angry that Canada supported U.S. bombing of ISIS "So he was really mad that Canada actually supported the American bombing of [iSIS] in Syria and Iraq so I think that was the main motive in killing that Canadian soldier." Radio-Canada reported that Couture-Rouleau's Facebook page, which is no longer active, identifies him as Ahmad LeConverti (Ahmad the Converted). Legal documents show Couture-Rouleau converted to Islam in 2013 Propaganda videos and other materials admiring jihad — or “holy war” against enemies of Islam — were on his Facebook profile page, including a video featuring the logo for ISIS. On a separate Facebook page, under the name Ahmad Rouleau, the profile picture had been changed last Friday to show a picture of two doors opening, one that appears to be leading to heaven, and one to hell. Months earlier, on April 14, one of the posts reads: "Allah has promised the hypocrite men and hypocrite women and the disbelievers the fire of hell, wherein they will abide eternally. It is sufficient for them. And Allah has cursed them, and for them is an enduring punishment." Underneath that post was the image of a sheik, combined with an Israeli and American flag and American dollar bill. It's one of a series of images critical of American foreign policy. The page also features links to anti-Semitic videos posted on YouTube. On that Facebook page, Couture-Rouleau defends Islam, at one point writing "don't judge Islam by what other do....study for yourself ... read the Qur'an." According to information Radio-Canada obtained from a friend of Couture-Rouleau, he had convinced at least four or five people in his circle of friends to convert to Islam. But he said that Couture-Rouleau got carried away with an extreme interpretation of the Qur'an. The friend said Couture-Rouleau spent hours on the internet and devoured jihadist literature, adding that Couture-Rouleau dreamed of dying as a martyr. 'Seems to be a lone wolf' Dave Charland, a former intelligence officer with CSIS, said from the information he's gleaned so far about Couture-Rouleau, he believes Couture-Rouleau "seems to be a lone wolf" in part because of the lack of sophistication of the attack. "Based on what's public right now, I don't think he had any links with any groups but clearly he had an extremist ideology. So he must have influences." RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson confirmed that Couture-Rouleau's passport had been seized and that he was one of 90 suspected extremists who the RCMP believed intended to join militants fighting abroad.
  6. Now, at least the real companies are involved. Shell is one of biggest oil companies in the world. When you bring heavy hitters , things could happen. Somalia must stop dealing these vulture mini companies headquartered in London and other places whose only purpose is to sell the rights they acquired through bribes to the real companies. Real companies need long term deal , peace and security before they invest millions.
  7. Nin-yaaban, don't be so harsh to these teenage girls. Under American law , they are considered underage offenders. There are many factors that should be considered. They could have been brainwashed by an adult male through the internet or other means. I would go even further and suggest that, there could be some kind of marriage proposals or love from someone in the ISIS camp. There are a lot of guys whose first language is English among the foreign fighters in ISIS. In North America, the problem of the internet predators luring underage young girls is becoming a huge problem. Further more, these is our communities problems, in terms of extremism, we should deal with it. Families are facing a double edge sword. On one side they worry about gangs and drugs luring their children in the criminal world, on the other hand, when they send them for religious and good moral upbringing , certain people who have different agenda intercepts them and brain washes them. So, it is an issue many families face. We must deal with it in find a way to avoid these potholes.

  9. johnyB, we will cover the future after al-shabaab.
  10. I would prefer Somalis building alliances with a strong candidate rather than throw their hat in the ring. Probably two or three Somalis might be running this same ward at the same time. Waa ismaqqiiqnimo. Why not support one single Somali ?.
  11. Sister, thinking about marriage and finding the right mate should be a constant thought for every young woman. some how it seems in most towns in North America, men or young men of that bracket age are hard to see. As you stated , there are plenty of young men between, 18-23, . These are the children of the young Somalis who settled in North America in and married in early nineties. We have lost a large number of young men who were in their late twenties and early thirties due to incarceration, drugs and other social issued faced by Somalis who brought their children during the tough times of nineties. Having said that , the best way to find a compatible brother is through family and friends. Do not be shy to talk to an aunt, cousin or relative if there are suitable young men. For sure who ever they recommend or bring for proposal will be someone series who is interested foe marriage. Those who you want to engage with ant relationship , should be someone looking to settle down for marriage. Because of modern technology and the hectic nature of today's life , almost everyone has his own little world which keeps them busy. That is why it is important to involve older people, especially those who have already families. I emphasise that others must be involved to find the right person. . I would like to add that the issue of university graduate may lower the pool. There are many non graduates who are gainfully employed and could became compatible series husbands. I conclude recommendations and recommendations is the best way.
  12. To be continued...... It will be injustice to reduce the actions of the early Kacaan years as manifestation of dictatorship and tribal domination. Like most revolutions, there is always a parallel group of people veying for absolute power. While tribal loyalties are always part of the Somali political culture , it is not the only way to achieve goals. Small minded people may define the Somali Revolutionary Counsel (SRC) as a punch of tribal groupings. Some people have argued that their were tribal grouping and tribal voting inside the SRC. Actually , inside the ruling SRC, voting were restricted only in policy and implementation , not on ledership or power. In the early years, the military coup leaders were as close as any group, even playing card and spending their nights in Villa Somalis as comrades. First of all, this wasn't the people's revolution, apprising or the public demanding change. The wind of Military coups, and and the overtheowing of the old older started to engulf not only the continent, but throughout the devolping world. Nationalist and revolutionary movements were popular throughout Africa. Starting from the overthrow of King Farouq of Egypt by nationalist officers in 1952, the coup de tat by military leaders and revolutionaries increased ten times by 1970. The military coup leaders of Somalia exploited the grevances of the public, the signing of Arusha accord in Tanzania which the Prime minister transferred NFD to Kenya, the infighting among leaders and mushrooming of political parties, which reached almost eighty parties by 1969. the resentment of western capitalist system , and the manifestation of communism as the best alternative for nationalist movements, coliminated for the officers to ride a huge public sympathy. Somalis everywhere welcomed the revolution with open arms. Statues of "national heroes" were raised throughout the land, the likes of Dhagax Tuur, Sayidka, Ahmed guray and others filled the plazas, indoctrination centres introduced slogans and mass-mobilisation campaigns, stressing an end to feuds and conflict over water and grazing. They promoted self-reliance and literacy, a new Roman script of the Somali language have been introduced . Students, teachers and civil servants traveled to the rural communities and to the countryside to teach peole the new Alp-haphet. Afkii qalaad ha moodin, carabku qaldin maaye sidii caanaha qudhdudhiyaay. Even if we analize briefly the public sentiment on tribal lenses, it will be hard to distinguish those who were pro Kacaaan , and those who were against the revolution. Everyone was pro Kacaan. For example, The HAG community welcomed the Kacaan like any other citizen. A HAG President was running the country for almost seven years, and they were not overly worried or interested about the tribal background of the new order. In fact the HAG public were confident people who never showed tribal antiphaty or grevances against the coup leaders( ma reer Hebel baa na Xakumaya), they were more loyal to the nation. In the Kacaan years, they were the most beneficiary of the devolopmen t policies of the government. In the south West region, were the citizens are less political, less trtibal, and hard working , they concentrated to their daiuly life as usual. In fact from Hiiraan to Kismaayo, where most or the national projects were concentrated, there were prosperity and good life. The public were at ease. Even as late as 1983, when I was doing my national service after graduation of high school, the Shebelle and jubbah river basin countryside were rich. I did my service in Wanla weyn, Shabeelaha Hoose. for the first time, when I saw Janaale, Qoryooley, and Marka Cadeey, I thought these were heaven on earth. In Janaale, our lunch was always complimented with Papaya and other fruits hanging beside our dormitories. These people were later ransacked and made victim , first by the clashed from the "D" block and the HAG, of early nineties, and latter occupied and oppressed by HAG militias. In these parts of the country, the public were more loyal to the nation. In the north, the Kacaan was welcomed with open arms, so did other Somalis every where. in that era, power and politics were the sport of the few elite members of the society. For most people, the nation and it's goals were important than tribes bickering for petty things. A friend whose relative Marxuum General Dheel was executed by the Kacaan, told me that as a young man he was celebrating like everyone else , although the deceased was his relative. People accepted with full value whatever the Kacaan told them. People believed and accepted the narrative of the Kacaan, which depicted a new Somalia on the move. In the era of nationalist propagandha and pride, the Kacaan didn't disappoint. IThe airwaves were filled with best of Somali culture and songs. Radio Muqdisho was the undisputed radio of the region. If you live in any of the territories that surround Somalia, places like Djibouti or Somali Galbeed, Radio Muqdisho was a dream of the coming great Somalia. Even when things were getting bad in early eithties, when I visited Djibouti, a relative told me that he was dreaming about one day in his life time to visit the Jubba and Shebelle thing that he kept hearing from Somali songs. " Waxaan ku riyoonayaa goormaad arki Jubadan heesaheeda Raadiyaha aan ka maqlo". In terms of living standard and economy, the life of average Somali wasn't bad. Those who finish high school found jobs easily, food and basic things were available. Infliation was law. In 1970, $1 American Dollar was equivalent of lass than 2 shillings, in !980, it was 6 shillings, and 1988, one dollar was 150 shilling . In 2001, during the C/qasim led Carta government, $100 American dollar was S1.2 million shillings. The public felt secure within their borders without the fear of foreign army invading the nation or dangerous criminals at home. Justice were swift and people felt proud and comfortable for what they had. Unlike today , not everyone was a politician, people were busy with their life's and were looking forward to lend hand other missing Somali states, and Africans. Somalia, threatened both verbally and fiscally, those the " Kacaan" called colonial imperialists who were still ruling in Africa. Military trainers and officers were sent to Mozambic, Angola, Rodesia. The air waves and radio did the rest. A clear massage was sent implying Somalia will not be subservient to anybody. Some critics of my writings are saying the Reer Woqoyi were midwifes, but the reality shows different. Cumar Carte Qalib , was the most powerful foreign minister Somalia ever had. At one point he was the secretary general of Organization of Islamic countries. He spreadheded the successful OAU conference in Mogadishu in 1974. He was the chairman of the committee to liberate Africa. Being fluent in Arabic, he helped Somalia join the Arab league , in 1974. When Somalia was offered four thousand " Iqama " , work permit for the massive coinstruction that took place in the emerging petro rich gulf , Cumar Carte was the largest sigle beneficiary. Of 4000 visa's ,the gulf countries offered to Somalia, he gave Somalia 2000. The reaming 2000 Visa's , he gave to his own ( Jilib), the lowest branch of his sub clan. In 1982, in Hargeisa, a friend told me that , among those families of Carte, every Reer have a man in the gulf. Of course, the Duriyada were going exploring and immigrating before him , but these was the largest benefit a single Somali awarded to his own clan family. It was the biggest employment offered to any group. We will address specifically those who benefited from the Kacaan, later .... Any way, The air waves were filled the usual.....propaganda.... Yam yam said: Inkastoon Sabool ahay, Hadana waa Sariiktaa Sacabada ma Hoorsado, Saaxiib niman ahay , Cadawgayga lama siimo. Soomaali Baan Ahay. Nabadan U Sahansha, Colaadaan Ka Salalaa Soma jeesto Goobaha, Ninka nabarka soo sida gacantiisa kamaa sugo. Nin I sigay Ma nabad Galo, Ninm I sugayna maba Jiro Lamenting for Africa, M. C. Sangub. Ian Smith ma Muuqdeen, Rodesia ma maageen, hadaan midig la siinin, Bortaqqis ma madhiyeen mana uu malaysteen, Mozambic angoola, Soth Africa moa moogin. Calling war against colonials..... Africay Isbuuro , Isa soo Bahaysto , Boqol isgu yeedho ku balamaa Dagaal. Well, finally, that war the Kacaan kept calling came in earnest. In 1976, Siyaad Barre visited the border town of Wajaale to obseve the border and send one final massage before he declared war. An eye witness who was present said " Inta uu Farta ku Fiiqay Ayuu Yidhi, Si walba waan uGu Sheegnay in Ay dhulkan ka baxaan, waxa la gaadhay wakhtigii iyaga iyo Aydooduba Isdraaci Lahaayeen". Roughly, he said " We have to kick the Ethiopians and their Dogs from our land." In those times , the world was divided between capitalist sphere led by the west , and communist world led by Russia. After the revolution of 1974, which overthrow emperor Haile Salase, Ethiopia , like Somalia became a member of the communist block. Regardless of the territorial disputes, these two nations were both led by dictators with communist ideology. . While Menguistu was a genuine dictator and communist , who will do what ever it takes to achieve his goals, Siyaad Barre, was a reluctant , half backed dictator who wanted to use the communist for his own power. In the real world , no one expected any clashes between communists. Russia, the patron and military supplier of both countries, discouraged Siyaad Barre for confronting Mengistu at this juncture of the history. Mengistu and the Derg were real despots compared to the banana dictatorship of Siyaad Barre. So, the question is, why Siyaad Barre attack Ethiopia at this juncture of history?. Before we answer that question, how did the Ethiopia of nineteen seventies looked like?. . The Ethiopian Derg , who took over the country, was fragmented and were in constant power struggle. The Kacaan revolution was swift and bloodless, although it purged those Siyaad Barre thought to be internal plotters in 1970. In this kind of situations , you must confront and eliminate your opponents early, if you want to survive in the power play of the revolutionaries. Unlike the Kacaan, many different factions , including former monarchist followers of the emperor, student agitators, Eritrean nationalists and communists were all edging one another for power. In 1974, the Derg, executed 61, officials of the old order without trial. Among them prime ministers and families of the emperor Haile Salaese. Unlike Somalia where the coup was orchestrated by the highest ranking officers, the Derg were all junior officers. By Novemer, 1974, the Derg killed their President with a shoot out in his home. Then, they chose Mengistu as the interim President for a week. By late November, Derg, appointed General Tafare Bante, as Chairman of Derg and President, just like Siyaad was Chairman of SRC and President. Taffate Bante, didn't like the purges, killing and other eliminations of the old order by Mengistu and his faction. The communist led by Mengistu were agitating for blood and eliminations of the enemy. Benti, was a soft spoken old military man who wouldn't attend large demonstration to drum support for the revolution. Finally, the reform taken by the President put Mengistu and his supporters on a short leash and less important positions. . Fearing to lose the power struggle, in February 03, 1977, Mengistu met the standing committee of the Derg and confronted his opponents in a closed meeting . Afetr the meeting concluded with disagreement's, he demanded that President Tafare attend the meeting. Before the President entered the whole Mengestu confronted him at the front door, and after tempers flared, shots were exchanged. The body guards of Mengestu killed the President in the shoot out. The rest were executed, and Mengistu proclaimed himself the leader of s the ocialist revolution in Ethiopia. He didn't stop there. In November of that year, he executed his deputy and forty more officers and precieved opponents. Within three yeas of that revolution , Mengistu assassinated two presidents, 60 generals and one hundred officers. He was the bloodiest dictator of the African continent. That was how ruthless the Ethiopian revolution was compared to Somalia. Mengistu was also a " Jareer", compared to the Royal family ruling the country. Haile Salase was called King of Kings, Lion of Judah. He traced his ancestor to King Solomon and Queen Sheba of Axum. . Although Jareer discrimination is almost none existent in Ethiopia today, Mengistu openly talked about certain prejudices faced by those of his ilk. When the Derg thrown the king to a cell, Mengistu said " Ethiopia Tikdam", which means Ethiopia march ahead. Haile Salaase said " a slave ( Baria), like you will not advance Ethiopia. For this , Mengistu not only starved the king, but after he died, he put his body in a concrete and buried under the lantern ( bathroom) where Mengistu goes to relieve himself. Naïve, angry, and disgruntled Somalis who do not know history or the consequences of certain moves, became the desperate guests of Mengistu, the bloodiest of all dictators. He told them " soo qabta dictatorka Siyaad Barre ". That blood thirsty dictator become the sponsor of many disgruntled Somali for many years to come. In fact Somalis, from Hargeisa, to Garoowe, Muqdisho and Kismayo are still trying to escape the history they created themselves. There are deadly mistakes that will last generation to reverse, this was one of them. That crucial move of switching allegiances after the bloody war of 1977, within few years, had left many scares that still remained till today. We will discuss the era of the " Jabhad" in a moment. In this time of chaos, Siyaad Barre, decided to wage the war to liberate Somaali Galbeed. What he didn't calculate was the Mengistu led revolution , replaced a two thousand years old feudal monarchy who had extensive history and long relationship with western capitalist world. The communist block gained a nation of 40 million people in the horn of Africa. in early 1977, the Somali army was preparing to invade Ethiopia from west, north and south. Before the upcoming battle, socialist firebrand Fidel Castro visited Somalia. He told Siyaad Barre to stop the war, and reach some kind of under standing with his socialist comrade. Siyaad Barre, insisted that " if what is happening in Ethiopia was a revolution, then the former empire must dissolved, and ethnic groups should decide their future. Castro pegged Siyaad Barre to postpone at this critical momemt of Ethiopia , and proposed a meeting in Sana, Yemen. After Siyaad Barre refused, both the Russians and Cubans, the Russian ambassador, accused siyad Barre of Somali irredentism and said " You are putting Somali irredentism above international communism. Well, we will put you in your knees". Regardless of all that negotions Siyaad Barre invaded Ethiopia in July, 1977. The war was swift. By September, the Somali army captured Jigjiga, and were knoking the doors of Diredawa. Hearing the news, Mengistu came to the front and succedded to push back and retake the city. After one week, The Somali army counter attacked and captured Jigjiga again, and almost captured Mengistu himself before he fled to Addis. during that brief period in Jigjiga, Mengestu rounded up almost 90 members of the Somali community leaders and businessman, and executed them in public. Among them was Ugaas Rooble ugaas Doodi , the Awdal community Ugaas. In that war, Ethiopia lost 30,000 soldiers and Somalia captured another 28,000 as prisoners of war. Somalia lost 5,000 soldiers and 35 prisoners were captured. The heroism of Somali army and their fighting skills were apparent in every battle. Somalis everywhere sacrificed a lot for that war, especially those who lived in the border area. With massive military air lifts fro Russia, Cuba, Yemen, Libya, and Warsow, pact, the victory of the Somali army was reverded, and Somalia decided to withdrow from their position. From the stand point of the Somali military, they won the war but lost the political side of war. Disapointment and anger was felt by the army and it's leaders which started the begning of the end of the Kacaan era. To be continued......... -family:Calibri } -->

  14. The first Somali graduates of the doctrine who left Saudi Arabia and came back to Somalia, in early eighties were not that many. As soon as they landed in Somalia they started to saw chaos and division among the people. Most of the early Ullema who advocated this creed were later assassinated by their Al-shabaab students. Among those killed by al-shabab for abandoning their creed were Sheikh C/qadir Gacamey, Sheekh Ahmed Xaaji A/raxman, and others. Others like Sheekh Cali Warsame, is Under Somaliland government house arrest, While Sheikh Hassan D. Aways escaped from Godane and protected by his HAG tribal militia. The students trained by theses Sheikhs became more extreme and dangerous in their view of other Somalis and their way of life , than their teachers. . Among the new cadre who were willing to eliminate their teachers and create a new rootless zeal of the Wahabi doctrine were, Haashi Cayrow, Ahmed godane and C/Rahman Afgani who were killed by American air strikes or by Godane himself, in the Case of Afgani. Others students who hold the same ideology are Fuad Shoongale, Sheikh cali dheere, Mukhtar Robow, Hassan Turki , Kabo ku Tukade and others. Because of their ideology, they consider the average Somali a lost soul. Just like their predecessors in Hijaz, the death, destruction and bombing of Somali civilians are a collateral damage toward their goal of total submission to the Wahabi creed. They also moved to the desperate Afghanis who are a perfect willing mule to transport the Saudi government doctrine of wahabism. The other groups that are susptible to Wahabism are Iraqis. They are facing a national strife and battle of life and death against Shia group who want to over power and rule them. Saudis also send their trouble makers, anti government Wahabis, and other criminals in their jails to these conflict ridden nations. The Wahabi doctrine fits well within the gulf monarchies culture of oppression and closed society. An open , modern and consulted system are great threat to future of the Saudi Monarchy. A decade ago , I met a Somali relative who was sponsored by his cousin from Saudi Arabia. While chatting about life , liberty and petro dollar, I asked him about the idea of Saudi women chauffeured by their families and foreign domestic men who work for them. He confidently told me that " Waa Run weeye, bal ka waran haday Naagtu Baabuur iska kaxaysato oo ay ninkay doonto meelaha ka qaadato, way ku saxsan yihiin Sacuudigu". Here you go. A Somali who lived few years totally absorbing the Saudi doctrine which has nothing to do with Islam. It shows the mistrust and closed nature of the Saudi culture. If you want to know if certain group is guided remotely guided from the Kingdom and Wahabi Sheikhs of the gulf, it is easy to profile them. 1- they use fear and intimidation. Since free nomadic Somalis and other independent people will not be attracted to this doctrine, they will use force and fear to spread it. In Somalia women were shot by not wearing the full Burka. Soccer watching parties were fire bombed and liberal media outlets are targeted. 2- In the Al-shabaab controlled towns, one of the eye catching practises of the movement is public stoning and corporal punishment. People always wonder, why al-shbaab guys are beating in public these helpless teenage girls and video taping them. Well, these tapes are sent to the gulf and Saudi Arabia. It is the proof confirmation that sharia is implemented in the Al-shabaab controlled Somali. After the Saudi wealthy Wahabi sees this , he will dispatch his donations as fast as possible. 3- Destroying of Shrines and historic places. One of the first tenant of Wahhabis and the original founding steps of Abdel-Wahab , was to destroy every tomb , shrine or places they think people were gathering for worship other than Allah. Rather than educate people and leave these historic tombs and mosques intact, they will destroy with vengeance. The whole world saw when ISIS were fire bombing and bulldozing the tomb of prophet Yoonis. These were three thousand years old mosques where early prophets were buried. rather been swept by the dust or destroyed , it is a great treasurer which shows how these land is the ancient home of Allah's Prophets. It shows the holiness of these towns and places. In Syria , prophet Yahiya, Zachariah, Yoonis, and others were buried. People were also shocked when they saw Al-shabaab going grave after grave. Since people were not sophisticate enough to design cemeteries and put the name of the deceased in gravestone, all they could do is build a huge house like tomb so, their important sheikhs and historical people couldn't be lost. It is simple educational issue that could be explained to the masses, rather than bomb and destroy. Well, it is a doctrine of Wahabism. 3-In this Wahabi culture, women are told to use the full covering of their eyes , the Niqaab. This Niqaab thing has no basis in Quran or Hadith. It is a cultural decision taken by Wahabis. Since open societies are threat to these monarchies . Sheikh Ahmed Qudubi, one of the most educated Somali sheiks said that more 35% of the adult Saudi women are not married. Because of their feudal nature and patriarchal thinking it is difficult to make marriage as simple as our Prophet proclaimed. One of the greatest benefits we Somalis gained from our faith and tradition is marriage has became simple for our youth to marry. Hadii gabadh Soomaaliyeed aad is bartaan ood guur doon tahay, markaad is waraysataan eed mudo gaaban haasawdaan, hadaad diyaar tahay, waa laguu meherin. Ilaahayba naguma adkeyn. 4- They will always quote certain imams while belittling or dismissing others. About 15 years ago, I went one of the Mosques in Ontario, Canada, and there was a debate about how to pay the " The Zakatul Fitr". This small charity or "Sadaqa", that must be paid by every family before the " Ciid" prayers to a needy person or family. The tradition was 5 or 6 kilo of grain for each family member. Here in north America , one could take the dry food to the nearest food bank to fulfill their duties. As an immigrant community , especially those who came from poor unstable lands, people prefer to send this alms of donation to their needy families back home. Some times you send a family member the money in order to buy the food and distribute for the needy. To make the story short, one of great scholars of Islam imam Ghazali of Egypt, said people can pay their Fitr with cash. He said since everyone can't transport or unable to pay the grain, it is okay to pay your sadaqa with cash. Since the intension is to give the poor , every family can pay five or eight dollars per person. The Wahabis crucified him as innovator and misguided looser who should be banned .Now many years latter, the Wahabis came to the same conclusion. Yuusuf Al-qadrawi , another scholar, said that " I debated for many years with a Saudi sheikh about the advantage of video tape when it became the favorite house hold instrument". The Saudi proclaimed that it is spreading immorality and other unislamic behavior . Al-Qadrawi said , many years latter I saw the same Sheikh being video taped while he was giving an interview. Finally I said " Thank Allah you are using the video today". In that Mosque , I remember , a young firebrand Somali Wahanabi saying " waar Khuraafaadka Ghazali iyo waxaas yaa dhageytsata". He is dismissing one of the leading scholars who spent 50 years researching and studying Islam. For them knowledge , experience , reasoning and understanding means nothing. T In America, late nineteen century, there were a movement and political party who called themselves the know nothing party. The biggest benefit of that ideology was the emphasis on " Tawhiid". The oneness of Allah. One certain things decline in a society, usually, new movements come and enforce reform. Their were times that cleanliness declined. Some movements ordained extreme rituals to enjoin people to be clean and so on. I am not scholar, but the main foundations of Tahiid is in the Qur'aan and Hadith. The first article of Islamic pillars are the oneness of Allah. Our faith is a universal one that is larger than Abdel- Wahab, Shaafici or any other scholar. 5- They selectively take Hadiths out of context, while interpreting to suit their own ideology. For example, the quote often a Hadith, which says " Islam will be again the faith of the strangers" ( Islaamku Qariib ayuu noqon doonaa oo sidii uu ku soo bilaabmay ay uu Qaraiib ku noqon). It is difficult to explain these Hadith, while their are 1.5 billion Muslims around the world. People of Knowledge may explain this in different era or time. According to Wahabi adherents, They are " Quraba", the small strangers who are holding their faith. In order to justify their exclusivity , they magnify these Hadith. A famous Somali sheikh , Sheekh Shariif Abdi Nuur, explaining the actions of certain Somali " Takfiir,( Takfiirs are Wahabis in Steroid), Said , they met in a small room, and decided that, " we can't take the publics pronouncement of being Muslims unless they fitful certain conditions. One of them said " hadii sandduuq sonkori ku jirto aad ku qortu cusbo, miyey sidaas ku noqonaysaa, dadkan afka ka leh Muslim baan nahay ma aqbalayno. Those Takfiris who proclaiming these are only about twenty men in small room. . They want an exclusive club. This kind of ideology meant to narrow the large Islamic tent that covers continents. Our Prophet (SCW), said I am here to complete the manners. He is called " Khatumal Anbiyaa", the last messenger, the closer, and the completion of Allah's message and the unbroken chain transmitted through Adam, Noah, Moses, Ibrahim , Jesus and Mohamed. You will not be considered Muslim unless you accept and testify the previous messages of Allah. In fact is one of articles of faith to believe in the Prophets, all of them. Islam is the most universal of all faiths. It is not something new from Arabia, it is the continuation of a message. We are universalists people who should reason other people of faith, especially, those who believe the Abrahamic message of God. Specializing on Hadiths is an enormous science it self. For example, in one Hadith, the Prophet of Islam said ( Man Qaala laa Illaha Illalah, Dakhala Janah),, " who ever says There is one god ", enters eternal paradise". In Islam, we know faith in Allah and good deeds go hand in hand. Unlike , Saint Paul, the founder of Christianity, who said, " as long as you believe in Jesus, you do not need any thing , he died for your sins, so no worries". While we all like this Hadith , good deeds and good heart are also needed. In another Hadith, The Prophet (SCW), says, " the difference between us and disbelievers is the Salah". Praying Salah is one of the most important aspects of being Muslim, if not the most. Yes there were times that Salah praying separated between Muslims and non Muslims, yet we know sometimes, that the IIman of the believer may increase , while sometimes it may decrease. The IIman or the practising of the believer depends the conditions, the environment he lives or other inner balances. Some times you may see someone who was fast and loose in his live, committed crimes or involved bad behaviour , suddenly praying in the front line of the prayer. So, a believers weakness doesn't mean he abandoned his faith. Remember also, Allah's mercy is open and bountiful. The Prophet (SCW), explaining the Khawaariij ( the extremist outsiders), said " You may see the sign of the prayers in their forehead, but they will leave Islam, exactly the way the arrow leaves the bow". We have been warned already. They may have thought us some good things, but their destruction and extremism will be felt every where. Even in the Qur'aan Allah says, " It is not righteousness to turn your face to east and west, but, righteous is who in Allah and last day, angels and scriptures, and Prophets, ...... Gives wealth, feeds orphans, keeps his treaty with others, patient in tribulation and time of adversity .....and so on" Part 3 will exclusively concentrate the origins of Al-shabaab.
  15. I think Tallaabo, Dr.K and Ciidan made an important point about " Tawhiid and Monotheism. Of course his movement reduced the Idol worship and praying of the dead, but also incorporated other measures that reduce the bounty of Islam to meaningless and small rituals. You hear a lot about " Tawheedu Rubuubiya, and Ywaheedu uluuhiya". Who is worthy of worship and the oneness of Allah Subhana wataala. These basic things are already covered on the pillars of Islam. There is no god worthy of worship but Allah and Mohamed is his messenger, is the first pillar of Islam. All you need is education. As Dr. K said, relaying on Allah is a basic Islamic foundation, not something new.
  16. Before we discuss extensively these phenomenon of Wahabism, let us look at Iraq. Ali Binu Abidalib, (radiyalau Canhu) said, Irqa is the land of Fitna ( trial and tribulation). Iraq or even Sham is not the typical homogenies lands of Saudi Arabia , Libya, Somalia or the Gulf. Syria and Iraq were part of old civilizations and like Mosepatamia and Roman empires. In fact Iraq was the seat of the 5,000 year old Babylonian empire. If you heard about Nimrod , the king of Babylon, who built a rocket and planed to kill God. Yes, they are a Muslim majority nations, but also the home of millions of people from different ethnic groups and religions. In Iraq, there are Arab Sunnis and Shias, Christians, Jews, Zarositens who worship the fire and other began rituals, Turkmen, Kurds, and Yazidis who are ethnic Kurds , but, worship the sun, and Assyrians. This nation is not your typical Muslim country, or even a country shared by Majority Muslims and minority Christians. If you went to Baghdad in early eighties, the down town Bazars and jewelry stores were dominated by Iraqi Christians and some Jews. It is not a new country or a country that could be gerrymandered by the colonials. It is one of the oldest civilizations on earth. In the Iraqi museums , you could find a five thousand years old artifacts and architecture. Just like Eupharete river crosses around Baghdad, movements, foreign armies and ideologies pass through Iraq. Tariq Aziz, the former Deputy foreign minister of Iraq, told former secretary of state James Baker , " we are 5000 years old civilization, we will still be here when America is gone, we will over last your nation". Well, that was almost 25 years ago in 1990, and the American leadership is still debating what to do about Iraq. This is were most of troubles among early Muslims originate. The biggest Fitna of all time, which had put Ali Binu Abi Thalib, against Mucaawiye were originated here , and most of battles were fought in Baghdad and surrounding area. Many Saxabaas, and Prophets are buried in Irqa and Syria. The people of Iraq are tough and resolute. Imagine , having six or seven car bombs in one single day in Baghdad, with over 200 people dead, repeating the same chaos day in and day out, with high number of causality for months and years, still the Iraqi people are sitting in cafés sipping tea and debating. Trail and tribulations are not new in Iraq and the wider world in general. A great scholar, after hearing disgruntled Muslims complaining about the conditions of the Muslim world and the future of Islam in the west , said " Folks, do not worry about the future of Islam, just worry about your own future and the responsibility that is upon you and your family. A young Somali from Calgary left his mother sister and other siblings and joined ISIS in Iraq. He is threatening the country that is hosting his own family. He doesn't know his primary responsibility. On the issue of Iraq and tribulations , let us examine the worst calamity experienced by Iraqi people and the Muslims of that era. In the thirteen century the Tatar led army of Genghis khan invaded and captured Baghdad, the seat of the Islamic Caliphate and center of culture and knowledge. Baghdad was a flourishing city of trade , science and education. The Grand Library of Baghdad, were destroyed. The Mongol army destroyed countless precious historical documents and books on subjects ranging from medicine to astronomy. Survivors said that the waters of the Tigris river ran black with ink from the enormous quantities of books flung into the river and red from the blood of the scientists and philosophers and the people of the city. The Mongols were known to kill prisoners and people alike. Those who attempted to flee were intercepted and killed by the Mongol solders. Estimates of the massacre range from 200,000 to half million. After one generation in the land they invaded and conquered, those same Tatars became Muslims. on the east of Iraq, you have Iran, the main Shia nation in the middle east. On the south west of Iraq , you have Saudi Arabia, the land of Makah and Medina, where the Islam's holy sites are located. Iraq today became the battle ground of two opposing ideologies, one Wahabi feudal monarchy , the other, despotic , theocratic and also revolutionary Shia. In the eyes of the super majority of the Muslims , they are both minority sects in the wider world of Islam. Not only the Saudis are helping Iraqis fight against the Shia, they are also forming proxy armies against the theocratic government of Iran. Iran is not only theocratic , but also revolutionary, which intends to unseat the gulf monarchies who have large Shia minorities. Ayatollah Khomeini , in 1980, said " the Gulf Monarchies are un Islamic institutions that must be overthrown". The Ottoman Caliphate put a lid on all these underlying ethnic groups during their reign. These sectarian divide in Iraq have long historical roots. on one side, a modern colonial aspect of the twentieth century, in another side a fourteen hundred years old split lingering today. Both Wahabis and Shias are small sects in the wider Muslim world. Shias are probably around 80 million world wide, while Wahabis are less than 10 million. Remember the whole gulf countries are not all Wahabis. They are a vocal minority with petro cash. It is a sect driven by Saudi state money. First In order to understand Wahabism , let us examine it's origins and how it became the ideology and state religion of Saudi Arabia. Mohamed Abdel-Wahaab, the founder of Wahabism died more than two hundred years ago. A formal alliance was made between him and a Saudi warlord named Muhammed Ibn Saud, the predecessor of the modern day house of Saud. The early concept of Abdel-Wahab was the restoration of " Tawhiid", the monolithic warship of one Allah. Since the Hajj and other places of warship was populated by shrine worshippers , immigrants who decided to stay behind after Hajj, and homeless people, he made a pact with Saud. He gave him political obedience to his rule and told him " Oh Yaa Saud, if you support our movement, you will have power and glory, and you rule over the land and men". Rather than educate the people about shrine warship, which can easily be achieved through educational, he unleashed his army to destroy mosques, shrines, old tombs, and other places he deemed idolatry to Islam. He crushed his opponents and made Ibn Saud the ruler of the land. Based on that tenet of fighting idol warship and shrine building, he was able to create a new creed of Islamic thought , while incorporating few harsh , puritanical and conservative interpretation of some Hadiths by Imam Ahmed and Ibn Taymiyah . He selectively ignored those Hadiths regarding social justice , mercy, and moderation. The Prophet (SCW), said : " Moderation is the best of affaires. He enforced his ideology with zeal and sword. If you want to live in Hijaaz, you must obey king Saud and his new Wahabi doctrine, or else was the ultimatum of Adbel-Wahab. That alliance continues for 150 years , when another Al-Saud with help of the British, proclaimed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932. That alliance is intact even in 2014. Saudi ullema do not debate or interfere the rule of the Saudi monarchy . The separation of religious affairs and the political rule of the king is indisputable. Calling themselves " The Salafu Saalih", those in the right path, they forged new interpretation of all hadiths and other traditions. In one Hadith , The Prophet (scw), said " The best of my ummah is my generation, and the next generation, and after the next generation". Using this narration, they said the way early Muslims understood Islam , and the way they interpreted, especially, those who lived the second century after the Prophet, had the correct foundations of the faith, and we must emulate their path". They refuse logic, reason, moderation, and mercy. In order to distinguish themselves from other Muslims, they formed certain litmus tests that one must obey before they even consider you a Muslim. Rather than focus, what unites the Ummah and their faith, they concentrated the lowest common dominator that divides people. Wearing shorter pants above the ankle for men, Niqaab( eye covering), for women and other small disagreements' among the Muslims. . Because of it's oppressive and close minded nature, the colonial powers of twentieth century, namely the British preferred and aided Wahabism. If you examine early documents , the alliance between the British, the Saudi and other Arab monarchies against the Ottoman Khalifa was clear. When Lawrence of Arabia started his campaign against the Ottoman Caliphate, he used Wahabi ideology to defeat the Turks. It was difficult for the people of Najaf( modern day Saudi) to fight against the Muslim ruler of the Ottomans. Lawrence of Aabia said, " I will pay him gold, who ever shoots an Ottoman Turk from the head". In order to facilitate for the Arab subjects of the caliph to fight their own kind, Arab nationalism was not enough. so , the Wahabis with king , started a campaign to put these Muslims out of the Islamic circle. Just like the wars of Nationalism and tribalism, in order to kill somebody , you must dehumanize before legitimizing their murder. In the religious wars within Muslims, also , one must put the other outside the circle of Islam and accuse them of apostasy in order to shed their blood. The Wahabis, painted the Turks as illegitimate idol warshipers and corrupt foreigners who must be vanquished from Arabia. They made Fatwas proclaiming war to rid Arabia of Turks and their supporters. Eventually, the Wahabis, Arabists and the British, finished off the Islamic Caliphate after 1300 years. After the Ottomans were defeated by the British in 1920, after the first world war, the Arab monarchies were established in Saudi Arabia , Jordan, Iraq and Syria. One single family of the so called Hashemite's, who claimed to be the descendants of the Prophet (scw), were restored in Iraq and Syria. The remaining prince Abdalla, was carved a land from Palestrina called Transjordan, modern day Jordan. Yet with all the power and sovereign rule, the Wahabi doctrine could not succeed beyond Saudi Arabia. Even in Saudi Arabia, it wasn't dominant until 1970, when rich petro dollar culture made Wahabism a state sponsored religion of the country. With petro dollar, Saudis tried hard to spread this doctrine of king Saud and Abdel-Wahab. Because of it's backward looking, oppressive and puritanical nature, it was rejected almost from the Muslim world. For the last thirty years , the only way it could spread was through war, instability and chaos. If you look back most of the places that this movement took hold were countries that experienced civil war and violence. Wahabi doctrine and culture is active in Somalia, Afganistan, Checheya , Iraq, Syria , Yeme and Saudi Arabia. In the nineties , a Saudi Sheikh proclaimed that for the first time, a group of people who declared the ones of Allah, are present in Somalia ( Imika ayuunbaa Soomaaliya laga helay koox Ilaahay keli Yeelaysa). Somalia was a nation who became Muslim before Saudis of Medina, Irqais, Egyptians and Pakistanis. In order to find not only followers for their ideologies, but those who were willing to copy the Saudi way of life, they have thrown their petro dollars throughout the Muslim world. No civilized Turk, Indonisian, Egyptian or even Sudan's will accept the Saudi culture. They target the most venerable people who are seeking help and redemption in their misery. so , they directed their zeal toward the hyper and nomadic Somalis left to suffer inside a failed nation, decimated by tribalism and anarchy, who were seeking something valuable to hold, had met the Saudi trained and financed Wahabis. The result was constant religious war, sectarianism and Al-shabaab. In the next part we will concentrate on the first Wahabi students and teachers who were sent to Somalia, including " Gadh case "Aweys" , himself.
  17. I thought Somali government put a moratorium to any deployment from Sierra leone, until Ebola is controlled. Mr. Johnson keep speaking louder. Does anyone from the government said any thing lately about Ebola?. nothing. the so called health minister , doesn't even talk about contingency plan. Ilaahayow naga qabo.
  18. MR. Johnson, of course you will be blaming every thing on Somalis. I hope Ebola won't come to Somalia, because Mr. Johnson will not help us , he will blame only Somalis, excluding himself.
  19. she shouldn't be talking to the media or anyone else. at minimum, she should be confined with her residence until the threat of Al-shabaab disappears. Also, she shouldn't be making any propaganda for al-shabaab.
  20. Malister, ku soo Dhawoow Boorama. It is beautiful especially the summer time. If you ever visit, you will feel welcome.
  21. Alpha, all is well. As read some of your threads helping people back home , you are not a dibjir. keep the good work.
  22. Yes, I said they were foreign backed entity. I could be wrong, but, first when they took over the huge swat of lands, people were skepticele. Even the Kurdish regional government presented them as disgruntled Sunnis who were rising against the Maliki government of Iraq. Maliki accused the Kurds and others of conspiracy. Even the United States blamed the Iraqi leadership of Maliki for alienating and fueling the Sunni insurgency. While America wanted to help the Iraq government defend itself, it also proposed new leadership and incorporations of the Sunnis in the system. Obama said, the issue is political solution. These people could have presented themselves as Sunnis suffering under Maliki without bringing Syria to the mix. Instead , they attacked the Kurds regional government and closed to the Capital Erbil within 30 km. Erbil has a large American, Western and other international agencies who are based there because of relatively much safer than Baghdad. Even if the persecution of the Yazidi Kurds were exaggerated, they could have remained their positions without attacking the Kurds. After American air strikes were used to stop their advance to Erbil and other places, they showed their true colours. Ciidan, you keep saying that ISIS is getting bad publicity and slander from media. Well, you are completely wrong. If they are worried about bad media, why would they not only kill , but behead innocent American journalist David Foley. They beheaded him publicly and broadcasted throughout the world. Because , they want to be the worst people on earth. They beheaded another American while his mother begged them to spare him. Well, by beheading the citizens of the most powerful nation, they invited America for war. They tried to humiliate a giant. If they new history, they wouldn't have done that. Remember Pearl Harbour. The Japanese were series formidable nation. President Roosevelt said that the Japanese awaked the sleeping giant. the rest is history. Now a bunch of assembled Wahabis who were supposed to be the proxy army of the Saudis went to challenge United States. I can assure you that most not all of their victims will be Muslims. Finally, these is the result of fifty year Arab dictatorship and feudal monarchy. They refuse to reform and modernize. No one in Indonisia, Malesia, Bangaledesh , Albania or Mali is worried about this constant Arab squabble. As long as they remain static , corrupt and immobile , expect conflicts and mayhem. Even the Saudis will eventually go through what we Somalis are recuperating in 2014.
  23. Waryaa Ciidan, stop the propaganda of this ruthless group. Because of this ISIS, millions of people both in Iraq and Syria and beyond are suffering. We all know they are Al-shabaab style murderers who do not value human life. Look what Al-shabaab has done to many innocent Somalis. Yes Assad is war criminal, but no one want to replace him with this Khawaarij. They are a dark sect unleashed by Saudi Arabia. It may take some time, but eventually they will be defeated just like Al-shbaab and others who want to oppress and kill people in the name of Islam. The Prophet of Islam (scw) said, "the Khawaarij will leave Islam the way the arrow laves the bow). Khawaariij means outsiders. The Wahabi cult is less than 50 million, in the world of Islam which is 1.5 billion. These days, The best way to establish dictatorship is to assemble all sort of characters and proclaim sharia and fighting for Islam through the blood of the Innocent. Kill, bomb and destroy until they submit. Also in another Hadith the prophet said " stay with main stream Jamaca of the amah". Sectarianism is the new danger in the Muslim world. Mr. Ciidan you seem to be advertising for Wahabis and sectarianism by calling the oppression and eliminating of Shia Muslims. It is the will of Allah people that people of different believe and creed live on this earth. I think it is time for those of us in SOL to stand up and say " stop the propaganda of this cult and others.
  24. Hey Marvin, as you said this is an Arab problem yet the gulf courtiers aren't doing any thing. I believe ISIS was crated by the Saudis, gulf monarchies and America to counter the growing influence of Iran in the region. Saudi Arabia is the best friend of the United States. If there is any Americana, it is the Saudi. I don't know what is so special about this Kurdish town. There are many towns suffering in Syria with no aid. Remember , America was reluctant to give weapons to Syrian insurgents fearing that arms may end up in wrong hands. It is the same thing. Turkey fears weapons in Kurds insurgents could be used against them. America is the leading country in the world, they should lead and act. If America want the ISIS threat to disappear, they must invade Syria along side Turkey and NATO. There could be some casualties, but they will defeat both Assad and ISSI, and install a moderate government backed by NATO. They should look the big picture. concentrate on the war, ISIS , Assad and the region not small Kurds town. These Kurds are clever in swaying world opinions in their favour. Without America taking a decisive position , this war will linger many years to come.
  25. Che, are you kidding. The Mogadishu government already had all the money given to Somalia from the international community and Arabs. Now they want more money from Puntland?, No way. Puntland should demand it's share of the foreign aid.
