  1. I can tell you, it is bloody exciting being in the Hall and watching the proceedings in person!. Jawaari has indeed won and not just won, he won with the support of the whole house including those that voted against him. Everyone here agrees he is the right man for the job. For me though, the fact that only months ago we were under heavy shelling in Mogadishu and left the safety of our concrete bunkers at our own risk, to the fact that we can hold elections in SOMALIA and in particular the Capital MOgadishu is Historic. It is very emotional but so has this entire year for me. This is when I feel I can kick back and enjoy the fruits of the hard work we all put in down here. Credit where credit is due, The Badbaado administration of Gaas truly made a difference and you have to have lived through the past 14 months here in Mogadishu to know so. I pray WE as SOMALIS keep this momentum going inshallah.
  2. One has to admit Abdiweli has changed Somaliya for The better. I was here when Shabaab was still fighting in the heart of the city and have been watching with great satisfaction the changes taking place the past 12 months. For that and for that alone Abdiweli has my vote!. I pray whoever comes next actually takes things forward and not backward. It is a time of great worry for me because we are at a crossroads and we could end up loosing all the success we have seen the past year if we are not careful.

Corrupted and the thief Gaas should be back to Niyagara Falls.. Are you serious?!, you are comparing the well documented Fraudster of the Carte Government who stole Millions and did nothing for the Country versus a Man who actually changed the Landscape of the Somalia and made the very same Election Possible with the Grace Of Allah and stole NOTHING and you even dare call him a thieve?. 10. And there I was thinking people were not that Naive!. Abdikarin is shariif's boy, Fact!. In the conference which was principle plus one, he was the one accompnaying Shariif. The deal that was reached was chaired by Shariff the very first day and it was he who brough the idea that the two representatives of Khaatumo people present should reach a deal. They reached a deal and as clearly stated in the communique, no one else twisted their arms. They reported back to the Forum, witnessed by all. If anyone is playing game it is abdikarim working for his boss
  11. I was at the conference throughout the Process and I found myself so emotional!!!. I felt Proud when everyone started singing the National Anthem and people were genuinely holding hands, patting each other in the back, hugging. some were crying Quietly in the corner, some Openly shedding tears of joy. It was a moment that made me Proud to be Somali and I pray we have many more moments like that to come inshallah. It Felt Good!!!!. It just so happens that I walked out of the event at one point because it was overwhelming and came across our beautiful Flag flying Proudly outside. I stood to attention and Saluted. The Current Prime Minister and his cabinet deserve all the praise they get. These guys work tirelessly, and they work together, despite their tribal diversity. I had the pleasure of working with all Somalis in this ConstitutionAL project and it was a job well done! Now I know why I came back home. Salaams and Congratulations To all Somalis From Moqdisho!
  12. Let me give you a different perspective of the Diaspora in Somalia. To understand this you need to also bear in mind the brain drain this country has suffered the last 20 years. I came here in Mogadishu just over a year ago, and at the time there was a small number of Diaspora and they were actively trying to turn the fortunes of this nation for the better. They managed to do that by bringing in new ideas, and were able to better represent the Nation with the rest of the world, negotiated hard on behalf of all of us whereas before the world had it easy with Somalis. This individuals attracted their fellow diaspora community, so much so that the entire thinking in this country is changing for the better. All of them ( i mean the overwhelming majority), are against violence and I was invited in get togethers, dinners of diaspora who work in all the different arms of governments, and they all meet based on the countries they had been living in!. It transcends the offices they work in and that in itself has helped create a better working relationship between the offices of state. The Diaspora are also heavily investing in the country and if you look at the key differences made in the country, you will see Diaspora at the heart of it. The point I am making is this: The Diaspora in my view should be given the lion share of any representation. Maybe I am biased.....................
  13. Actually despite my reservations with Elders in General the past 20 years, I welcome the statement and apparent decision they made. It is a way forward and constructive. I hope the other elders/clans follow suit and we can for once get out of this much despised "Transition" Our sovereignty is being challenged left right and centre because our government cannot represent us properly as it's legitimacy is always questioned. It is then left to the so called International Community to make so many decisions for us. I was recently involved in talks with some supposed International Community leaders and surprisingly they complained that since "91 they have invested no less than 60 Billion Dollors in Somalia. I nearly choked on the drink I was having. I asked all the usual probing questions like exactly where did this money go etc, but it became apparent very quickly that no one knows where it went but on record the figure is there! We can all go on crying this or that, separatist, unionist etc, but we are all in the same boat and unless this crap they call Transition is ended I assure you the alternative will be one we shall all come to hate more than any petty argument we have against one another. Keep that in mind next time you see someone trying his level best to disrupt a process that is haste, probably needs a lot of things sorted, a constitution that will need amendments etc. Remember the goal.......we need to end Transition and quickly!
  14. Before I say anything, could you please provide the source?

Welcome to the forum bro, but if your argument is that clan is the problem in Somalia, it is an argument for which no supporting evidence is presented for. Few countries in the world, if any at all, do not have race, clan and ethnic factors that divide their citizens. Yet, there is only one failed state in the world right now - Somalia. One of the deepest clanish sentiment and identity in the Somali peninsula is exhibited in Somaliland, yet Somaliland is the only properly functioning regional state in what used to be Somalia. The amount of hate, mutual suspicion and animosity between the Amhara and the Oromos, or the Amahara and the Tigres, or the Sidama and the Woleita is not milder than the SL-PL, or PL- Galmudug rivalries. The political bad-blood between the Kikuyus and the Luo in Kenya cannot be less poisonous than the internal clan feud between HAG sub-clans!! The bottomline is that clan or clannishness is not why Somalia failed and why it is failing. It is lack of education and visionary leadership. A vibrant Somalia can prevail even if the diseased clannish mentality continues as long as there is a political leadership (a handful of them) that could steer the country forward economically and politically. The allies of Sheikh Sharif today do not come from one single clan. Politics in Somalia is now starting to resemble politics elsewhere in that it is interest - mainly vapid materialism- that drives the belief and actions of politicians. It is why a showdown is inevitable between Faroole and Abdiweli if one or the other finds that the other is an obstacle to his ambitions. Yet all this does not mean clannishness is defensible. It is not. But you should listen to Khadra Dahir's "cudurka kaa gala fardaha, hadii laga gubo dameer" to get the jist of my post! Also, frothily mouthing one's partiotism and cleanliness does not always make one clean, because most of the somali politicians actually say good things about somalinimo in the media. A man I met in Hargeisa recently, clad in all white Tabliqii dress, told mee that he partticipated in the big Tabliiq gathering and that he is added to the list of the Jamaaca that will travel to Bangladesh! Nothing wrong with this, except that he is the same man who was singing "Leyla, oo Laylaa" from the Indian movie "Qurbani" just a month ago to cheering young ladies in summertime! And except that after I reminded him about that epsiode of "Leyla" and jokinly asked if he is truely reformed, he smiled and said " waar dee meesha Bengaladish naago eesh calaa ah baa la gu sheegay" implying that the Tabliiqi Jamaaca are paying his travel expenses so that he has a hot sexual romping in the rice country. So, let us not get too emotional about the nice things we say in this forum. Much more than political correctedness in this forum is to make sure that we actually contribute to the eradication of clanisim by living the life we preach! The posts Xaji Xundjuf and Dr. Osman exchange are the most hilarious, but I am sure they are not any more clanish than the average faarax in this forum. Labadaan shaqsi maxaa mar waliba isdaba dhigey horta, waaba yaabe?.
  18. The Guy with Paul Kagame is the Somali Ambassador in Ethiopia Said Yusuf Nur. I am guessing the point he is trying to make is that the similarities is not to be dismissed.

My suggestion to you brother is to invest wisely but invest quickly. New ideas, industries are popping up and whoever gets in there first will make the big bucks. Bringing a service or profession late won't do you any good. Happy to lend my experience. See your inbox for my email and contact me inshallah.

Let's brainstorm ideas Hear hear!!, Nudawn, my brother these are my thoughts exactly which is why late last year I decided to head back home. I am in Mogadishu, living, breathing on our beloved piece of Planet Earth. The opportunities here are so immense it beggars belief. It saddens me when I see young men & women who seem highly talented and could be good business partners which ultimately will create jobs that will in turn help alleviate the suffering back home arguing on some petty stuff. I am keen to meet fellow like minded people and glad to make your acquaintance brother!. Do keep in touch and don't let any of these put downs get to you. Salaams.

Nudawn. Brother, let me take this opportunity to welcome you to the forum. You come across as someone with a good head on his shoulders, but I assure you, if you stay long enough in a psychiatric wing with crazy people, you will end up crazy. You have joined a forum renowned for tribalism, even though it is disguised under such beautiful abbreviations like PL,SL,AS,PIS,GL,ASWJ and many others.I hope you don't add another abbreviated tribe to the list. Once again, welcome brother and for the record I totally agree on the resources issue. Please usher in a New dawn!,
  23. "I am not denying clashes between the rebels of ssc versus the Somaliland army or the casualties between the two sides.I also know there were hardly no incidents in the Sool region only in the southern Buhoodle district Between the armed faction of SSC and the Somaliland forces. These clashes happened only twice in 2011 and begin this year. Its how ever not a war against a clan or a particular group because the garaad clan lives in Sanaag Togdheer burco or laascaanood no one targets civilians nor are the civilians in buhoodle targeted. This how ever can not be compared to the wars ugly wars against civilians in the 80s where airplanes were used and rhodesian mercenaries. If the Somaliland government targets civilians i will be the first to fly back home and defend the civilians". MR Xunjuf: Sir, I thought we were having a realistic & honest discussion where facts are used to argue the case?. My dear brother, you do realize we live in the age of the "internet" where pictures, and actual videos of the casualties are beamed to the whole world in minutes?. I doubt there is anyone reading these posts who hasn't seen pictures and or videos of or isn't aware of those casualties and denying them is to deny those casualties of earlier times caused by previous regimes. Denial is denial brother, and I guess what I am saying is that you need to decide whether you want to deny all or accept all in the same light. Life is Life brother, they are all sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, fathers and mothers of someone and someone is hurting as a result of action taken by some regime or another. Therefore before I invest a great deal more of my time on this point kindly decide on this issue first. As for mr Burahadeer who said the following: "how long siyad loyalists keep teaching their notorious scam history.1000 people died in buhoodle!!,civilians were run ova by tanks!!..hahaaaaaa, don't beg for the worst. It's the wailing of those who wage war and lose, then all of a sudden they freedom fighters & great somali nationalists Give me a break...hasha geela cunta ee cabaada..........." The same can said to you brother regarding your constant whining on the Issue of the late Siyaad regime and what they did or didn't do in the eighties to Reer Woqooyi?. Shall I quote you on the above each time you or likeminded individuals remind us that wrong was done to your folks back in the day?. I will happily engrave your wise words on an Obelisk for all to remember, if only that will mean the whining from your end will stop?. I thought grown men were having serious discussions here, but if this is the level of discussion then I bow out Sirs!. Good day to all.

Xaaji Xunjuf;846100 wrote: In the 80s the Govt of siad bare had every right to fight against the SNM rebels no one is denying that but they were fighting an ugly war against the civilians of Somaliland shelling civilian populated area's hunting them down even in the capital xamar remember the jazeera massacre. These people had nothing to do with the SNM rebel movement they were civilians. But Siad bare had every right to fight the SNM resistance group but he had no right to fight against the people of Somaliland i mean he forced them to flee their homes he was their supposed leader right he should've protected them but he didn't thats the difference, between what is happening today and what happened in the 80s. No one in his right mind will compare the two situations its incomparable. MR Xunjuf ( we really must have "shah" one of these days and tell me just how you came up with that name), I agree with you completely on the right to defend one's nation aganist rebel movements and the wrongs of shelling civilians which is why I am surprised at how you are supporting Mr Sillaanyo given his record in Sool which resulted in heavy shelling of Civilian areas, killing, maiming of innocent civilians, torture of them, subjugating and assassinations, For crying out loud he even ordered tanks to start playing the age old Soviet game of "lets see how their heads sound when crushed by the tank" and we have all seen the aftermath of it. So how could an intelligent Man such as yourself, who can clearly and logically distinguish wrong from right support such a character. One would expect you to denounce him outright from the get go?. What went wrong?............oh dear, the penny just dropped, it's the Clan thing isn't it?!
