http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/africa/official-somali-pirate-leader-targeted-in-helicopter-attack/2012/06/06/gJQAQTJqIV_story.html MOGADISHU, Somalia - An official from the autonomous Somali region of Puntland says its forces launched an aerial attack targeting a pirate leader in Somalia. The official said Wednesday that forces in a helicopter fired on a house in the village of Bali Dhidid where the pirate was believed to be, possibly wounding him. The official asked not to be named because he was not authorized to speak to the press. The official said three vehicles were destroyed by the bombardment but the pirate boss identified as Issa Yuluh managed to escape. The attack comes a day after the Puntland's troops launched a raid on the pirate infested town of the Bargal. Attacks by Somali pirates off the Somali coast have reduced sharply in the first quarter of this year following a concerted international effort to eradicate piracy.

Somaliland- the least negative country in the world

ToasterThief;839594 wrote: Wow, Somalia, Mooge, rudy-Diiriye and others are soo negative, which makes me wonder how Puntland and the South would fare in a similar survey. I sometimes wonder about something, and I hope somebody can help me answer it: Why do some people utterly despise Somalilanders and yet desparately want to remain in a union with them. It makes no sense. Actually, we support the right to secession for the Somalidiids, but not along the colonial lines that their colonial master drew for them during the colonial times which they still long for. Basically, if you haven't noticed, it's all about colonies. -
Good. The Ras Kamboni faction shall rule Kismayo, no problem with that, though the support for factions in **** region is just a waste of time and effort.

Bit of a weak comeback.

Iam glad you folks at last are clebearting the real history of your liberation day.. Feburaray 4th 1920. I remember the Queen's coronation extremely well. In fact, I remember the coronation of her father King George VI [in 1937]. My uncle attended the ceremony in London. During the coronation of Queen Elizabeth there was a huge celebration in Hargeisa. The whole town was practically shut down and lots of congratulatory telegrams were sent. I still remember that wonderful day . I have been to London twice but unfortunately I didn't meet the Queen on either occasion. I liked the British a lot , mainly because they brought peace to our land. When they first arrived, the clans were at each other's throats. We were killing and fighting each other, and the British put a stop to it. :D:D

Dredging equipment and Puntland forces

Interesting thanks. So are they rife in the wild? What other large mammals do we have in the country? Information out there is no good as it's old.

It's not even the same! We are talking about people who we know have done wrong, but not prosecuted. You are defending a man who sold rights to a company on his own behalf, only to resign later, if he wasn't corrupt, then why did he resign? This is one of them lame conspiracy arguments you come with, comparable to this one . http://www.somaliaonline.com/community/showthread.php/65471-Africa-oil-announces-spud-of-shabeel-north-well/page2

You are such a silly being. He was a trader, and a former employee. He was charged due to insider trading. I asked you of what was behind the collapse of 2008, that Goldman Sachs was never investigated for but everyone know that did it. Go back and read my comment. I ask you again, has Goldman Sachs been investigated for what they've done?
-
Actually they haven't been investigated. The man resigned because of his corruption, I don't understand how you can argue with that..
-
Ok, another question. Lets take a company, Goldman Sachs, they used to bet against assets they put out, knowing that they were worth nothing while investors bought them. They haven't been charged, does that mean they are not corrupt? Geedi, who stole money from the government by signing a fake oil deal with a Kuwaiti company and then resigning over the feud, is not corrupt?

You know, since it is the national animal? I always mistook it for the Cheetah.

"Buying John Grang's lush villa in Nairobi with God knows how much money, plus, his son's lavish wedding of the century party". These are all allegations until they are proven, I believe all these politicians deserve second chance until they are charged, convicted, and then banned from running for office. In which functioning Somali court would you have him convicted? To argue against the notion that he's corrupt is like saying pigs can fly..

Lasqoray, Somalia — Mohamed Said Nur, Governor of Sanaag region gave a stark warning to the Somaliland government, that Puntland will protect its people from attacks by the breakaway region, Radio Garowe reports. Governor Nur who held a press conference while visiting Bossaso, said that the attack by Somaliland naval forces on engineers visiting the port city of Lasqoray on Friday, was a blatant attempt to incite confrontation by the Somaliland government. "We are asking those who are committing these attacks for whatever reason to stop, Lasqoray is not a contested area and any attacks on its people or administration will not be allowed," said Governor Nur. The Governor added that if the attacks by the Somaliland government cease to stop, that the Puntland administration in Lasqoray will be forced to defend itself. On Friday, Somaliland naval forces attacked a crew of engineers assessing the possible renovation of the Lasqoray port.Puntland forces escorting the crew fended off the attack. Lasqoray a port town in Sanaag region, a contested region by Puntland and Somalialnd located in northern Somalia, is under the jurisdiction of Puntland. Puntland's Deputy Minister of Security, Abdijamal Osman Mohamed on Saturday requested that Somaliland stop the reoccurring attacks and disregard for Puntland constituencies. "We are asking our brothers of Somaliland to stay away from disrupting the port of Lasqoray and other constituencies under our jurisdiction and whose people fully support the Puntland government," said Minister Mohamed. The Somaliland government has yet to respond to the statements made by Minister Mohamed and Governor Nur. AllAfrica

The purpose of Puntland exploration was nothing other than two things, 1) to sell the license to the highest bidder since AO don't have the "resource" to extract and export oil. 2) To over value its shares in the stock market, imagine the digits and the value added to its shares after those BBC and Aljazeera coverages in early January. These are wildcat drills. Based on minimal data, from the 1980s and the ones done in a few years. In Saudi Arabia the largest oil producer it took 4 years and 7 drills. This one will have 4 drills as General Duke has pointed out. You are highly illogical if you believe there will be no oil just because they are testing the first ground. The fact that the first drill showed signs of oil is enough to say that this project will keep going. We don't even know whether or not it is commercially viable.
