  1. ^^are you serious??? Allah willed for the mosques to be the only remaining buildings in both villages, simple as that saxib, what happened to the building materials and engineering on ALL the other buildings??? Would we have less belief if the mosque in Banda Aceh was wiped out too? No, but because they are still remaining, this surely only furthers our belief in the all mighty.

  5. Truelly amazing, this happened in two villages with surviving locals thanking allah for providing a place to stay, this somewhat surprised the news correspondent (u know what their like  ) who was probably expecting ppl to question their faith. This leads me to an interesting article in the Guardian the other day, let me dig it out http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,,1382397,00.html The destruction of the Portuguese capital Lisbon in an earthquake in 1755, which killed 60,000 people, was the event which helped to provoke the Enlightenment and first caused philosophers to ask more sophisticated questions about God's role than divine vindictiveness towards wicked people. Christian leaders have had plenty of practice at considering their explanation for disasters, from the Black Death to the Holocaust. Few now however would share the sort of explanation reached by the Emperor Justinian, who concluded that the plague which wiped out a third of the inhabitants of Constantinople in 541 was the result of the city's sinfulness: in that case the "vile acts" of men with each other. Iqbal Sacranie, the secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain, told the BBC Sunday programme: "This is the will of God almighty. It is this aspect that is beyond us. Allah knows best. None of us is going to live for an indefinite period. Death always takes place but what form it takes is always beyond us. People of faith need to have a very firm belief in God almighty. It is for God's will. It is for the betterment of mankind at large." Allahu Akbar
  6. I just dont see what the big deal is here??? Name a rich Islamic country that this has not happened to already? Smithy, your talking like you expected Dubai to be just like some of the most holyiest cities in Saudi and Phalastine???? Disappointed you maybe, but surprised you should not!
  7. This topic has been exhausted already, somalis will always be somalis. Dubai has many opportunities if you are sufficiently qualified, its a booming economy with many well paid jobs and decent bonus packages available. So instead of dissin the place maybe you should look to move there soon instead of living in a kufar state. Its has its flaws i know, but nowwhere is perfect. Wake to the adhan every morning saxib instead of the number 74 bus roaring past your window! NGONGE, i think those arabic lessons (for me)will be needed soon, you may come and visit when you take a break from SOL

  11. So let me get this straight Nationalist, the somalilanders should forgive and forget but at the same time you would do this to Aidid: I would never sue him, I would tie his limbs to the back of four horses and let his body tear apart to north, south, east and west. Letting all Somalis in the world from all wind-directions beat him up like they Iraqis did to Saddam's statue. After that let the hyenas feast on him. Talk about wearing your heart on your sleeve  . Why dont you forgive and forget saxib??? hypocracy is not an italian opera singer
  12. France shows off tallest bridge The world's highest road bridge has been inaugurated in southern France by President Jacques Chirac. The Millau bridge over the River Tarn in the Massif Central mountains is more than 300m (984ft) high - taller even than the country's Eiffel Tower. The bridge, which opens to traffic on Thursday, was built to clear summer traffic jams around the town. The BBC's Paris correspondent, Caroline Wyatt, says the bridge is one of the most breathtaking ever built. She says that with its concrete and steel pillars soaring high above the morning fog in the Tarn Valley, the construction makes a spectacular sight. 'Delicacy of a butterfly' Seven slender piers support the roadway, rising into seven graceful pylons bound to the bridge with what look like cobwebs of steel, our correspondent says. "The bridge is just on the clouds," Millau Mayor Jacques Godfrain told the BBC's World Today programme. "The architect, Norman Foster, gave us a model of art." TALL ORDER Cost: 394m euros (£272m; $524m) Highest point: 343m (1,125ft) Vehicle height: 270m (885ft) In pictures: The Millau bridge Mr Foster said the bridge was designed to have the "delicacy of a butterfly". "A work of man must fuse with nature. The pillars had to look almost organic, like they had grown from the earth," the world-renowned British architect said in an interview with regional daily newspaper Midi Libre. Like Concorde and the Channel Tunnel, the bridge is Franco-British. French construction group Eiffage - that built the Eiffel Tower - financed the project in return for the right to collect receipts from a bridge toll for 75 years. The bridge is now a source of pride for Millau, which believes many more tourists will come to admire one of the engineering wonders of the 21st Century, our correspondent says. The construction also removes a bottleneck at the town, completing a new motorway link between Paris and the Mediterranean. The construction of the steel bridge - now weighing about 36,000 tonnes - began in December 2001, using innovative techniques. From the north and south sides of the valley, the metal sections of the structure were assembled, lifted slightly and then carefully slotted into place on each of the supporting pillars. Motorists are expected to pay 4.6 euros (£3.18; $5.60) for a trip across the bridge.
  13. Many missing as waves hit Africa Hundreds of Somali fishermen are feared to have drowned in the massive waves produced by Sunday's undersea earthquake off Indonesia. A spokesman for the newly elected government said the fishermen had not returned after putting out to sea. Yusuf Ismail Baribari said towns along Somalia's coast had been flooded by the rising waters. Waves which swept 7,000km (4,000 miles) from the epicentre, also struck Kenya, Mauritius, Reunion and the Seychelles. Bridge damaged In the Kenyan port town of Malindi, where a 20-year-old swimmer reportedly drowned, fishermen ventured back in the water on Monday to gather the remains of their boats. Beaches that were closed on Sunday reopened, amid government warnings to tourists to take precautions. There was also damage in the Seychelles where a bridge linking the main airport and capital Victoria was destroyed while a village in northern Mauritius was submerged for almost three hours following the surges. "I am asking people to remain calm and help those in need," Seychelles President James Michel said in a television address. About 15 fishing boats were damaged in the French territory of Reunion. Officials in Tanzania and its semi-autonomous Zanzibar and Pemba islands are giving hourly warnings, advising fishermen to look out for more waves. The British government warned its citizens in Madagascar, Mauritius, the Seychelles, Kenya and Tanzania to be alert for potential danger from the sea surges. Allah yarxama to those who perished in this huge quake, ameen
  14. Happy holidays to all! Who said anything about celebrating????? I personally love this time of year, I'm at home with my family. I'm not celebrating anything but at the same time reviewing the past year. It may not be the Islamic new year, but its a welcome break from the rat race. The next year. will be a BIG year, so i'm actually preparing more than reviewing.
  15. What is going on here??? I'm in the middle of updating my CV and personal statement. I will send these to construction companies in the UAE and hopefully work on these huge construction projects IA. To live in a land where you wake up to the adhan, work and live a good standard of life without the usual BS you get when living in the gurbolands. I will take that anyday. I dont agree fully with what is going in the UAE, but i also dont agree whole heartedly with whats going on in the UK. The lure of living in a islamic country with a triple pay package, house, car and travel tickets to go to Burco and UK every six months. Plus the idea of bringing futures little norfs in a muslim country sounds good. So isoduceya! Having said that, what others do with their wealth is not my concern. There is nobody doing more than the Arabs in providing finances for charity/schools/masjids/infrastructure. The combined wealth of all the arab states cant solve the problems in Africa. What we also need to remember is that the middle east was just a vast desert 20 or so years ago. They have gone from crawling to running in a short space of time. Somalis can learn from that! The construction of skyscrapers are signs of yomal quiyama, but its not a problem when its in kafur country right? I love skyscrapers, the architecture on the twin towers in Kuala Lumpar is the finest design ever. The construction of the new bridge (highest bridge in the world) between france and spain is awesome. The Gurkin in the city of London is brill and so is Canary Warf. That doesnt mean its haram to construct a skyscraper does it? I have dream of one day building road/bridges and sky skyscrapers back home. I will continue to live that dream and work on constructing large expensive buildings, its my job! One question i have recently asked myself is, if i'm working for a client wishing to build a Casino, is that haram on my part? I dont think it is but i will see the imam this week IA. Somalis stop hating and being concerned with things you have no control over and live your life! Peace!

  17. I have been looking into this myself lately, some freinds say excatly what you have posted ie its another way of riba/interest based morgage but sugar coated for muslims. Others say its the only alternative we have in purchasing a place you can call 'home'. I have been meaning to ask imam Omer at the local masjid, i will do this week IA. I shall print this and give it to him aswell. Jazzakallahukhara for the post!

  19. Well i did some boxing in my teenage years, dot ask how long ago that was. There are a few who are in boxing gyms, but i guess we are not made for the boxing ring, The Afro-Carribeans or West Africans are more suited than us.
  20. Viking Chelsea are not as good you seem to think. The real test came against arsenal last week and they looked ordinary against a good arsenal team. Flamini and Fabregas ran rings around Lampard and Makelele who supposed to be the 'world' class players. Imagine what Deco, Xavi and Ronnie will do  In the 1st game of the season Man Utd played better than Chelsea with many players missing. Anyway, dont want to carry on but i think Chelsea will be humbled by Barca, barring any major injuries.
  21. Legend, u can draw up an opposing team tho and where is Ali Barnabia lately? retired? very good player
  22. It a tough call but i think Ronnie plays in a tougher leauge than Titi. The state of defending in the prem is laughable at times, its hard to convinve the judges that the Prem should be up there with Seria A and La Liga in terms of technical ability/defences etc. Go goofy go!
  23. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/4100677.stm I prefer brother Anelka, but Morri is a cool customer in front of goal! Go on you red!
