lol Welcome to Burco , Nationalist i bet rear (where ever your from) cant even manage this Obviously the larger/capital cities will have the greater share of modern buildings, thats just the way it is. So far no particular building i've seen has struck me as being something of great architectural beauty.

^^well its a lucrative business if ya know what your doing. General construction prices have rocketed in recent times. A 4 bedroom, 2 living room, 1 kitchen and 2 toilet/shower rooms cost approx £40,000 5 years ago, these days your looking at about £90,000+ in Hargaisa, double the price. Market forces, a weak dollar, importing materials etc etc.

Eid Al-Adha The standing and worship in the plain of Arafat, which marks the climax of Haj, will this year take place on Wednesday 19th January according to an official statement from authorities in Saudia Arabia (Dul Hijjah 9). Eid Al-Adha prayers are being held in mosques in the UK on both Thursday 20th January and Friday 21st January. The UK Ruiyate Hilal Committee, meeting on Sunday 16th January at the Tooting Islamic Centre, acknowledged that differences of opinion would be respected and the matter would be left to each mosque to announce its Eid arrangements. Further information can be obtained from the Committee's Secretary Aslam Ijaz on 07931 357720. http://www.mcb.org.uk/home.php

Thanx for the link Suldaanka, brightened up my day. Nationalist, there is no architectural style in Somaliland, everyone goes with a design they feel appropriate and is also sanctioned by the local planning office. It should be one paste like in Mogadishu and Bosaso whom clearly derive their mediterranian style from Italy. Now if every place had the same style wouldnt that be abit boring? Besides, Italian architecture is lagging behind in the modern day. FYI: Hargeisa region recieves very good rainfall sxb, and procudes most of its vegies and fruits. In fact, it always ranked in the top 5 largest producers of cereal (sorghum and maize) in ex-Somalia. So, there you have it sxb. I often go to H-town from Burco, the weather is quite a contrast, i find it cold in H-town at night (two duvets) and the smell of rain in the morning is quite refreshing. Ballers, i saw them building that 1st picture in Jan 2003, good to see the final finish.

Norf said: Most Underated Thomas Graveson - Everton Real agree £2.5m fee for Gravesen Thomas Gravesen is poised to complete his move to Real Madrid from Everton after a medical on Friday after the two clubs finally agreed a fee. BBC Sport understands Real will pay around £2.5m for the 28-year-old. Agent John Sivabaek said: "Thomas is very excited, but sad because he had five fantastic years at Everton." The 28-year-old was out of contract in the summer and Sivabaek added: "He was very happy at Everton, but when Real Madrid want you, you cannot say no." Everton boss David Moyes will now move to line up a replacement for Gravesen, with Spurs winger Simon Davies and Blackburn's David Thompson potential targets. I'd forgive the guy for wanting to join Madrid, but I would be absolutely gutted though From TP Have your say on 606 A statement from Real on www.realmadrid.com confirmed: "Real Madrid have reached an agreement for the transfer of Thomas Gravesen tothe White Club (Real). "Gravesen will play for Real Madrid in what remains of this season and threemore." Real have called a media conference for 1900 GMT on Friday where, it is thought, they will unveil Gravesen. Everton chief executive Keith Wyness told www.evertonfc.com: "No-one at Everton wanted to lose Thomas Gravesen. We did everything we could to keep him. "Once it became clear that Thomas had his heart set on a move to Real Madrid, we fought hard for the best possible deal for Everton. To that end we feel we have been successful." The Dane joined Everton from Bundesliga side Hamburg for £2.5m in 2000. He has been outstanding this season as Everton have established themselves in the top four of the Premiership. Bye bye to everton's CL hopes

Some very good points there geezer, there is always a high police presence in Southall for eid, most of the time nothing happens. I don’t feel that there is enough scope to ban flags for religious festivals. It may concern national falgs today and may seem irrelevant somewhat as we are celebrating a religious festival but I’m trying to read between the lines here. The introduction of the new religious hate bill will soon be in a affect and this a test case. When they see even the ‘muslims not that bothered’, this will give them (police/council/govt) greater powers and more confidence. A small irrelevent test case like this one will lead to more tougher actions concerning muslims. We are slowly walking along the same lines as France and the quicker we realise this the better. Rome wasn’t built in a day, in 10 years time our kids will be banned from wearing hijaabs at school.

George Weah, in my opinion had more talented players around him than Abedi ever had. Hmmm good point, with established world class players plying their trade in Seria A. Abede Pele was the king of kings man.

It sets up an a BIG game on Sat (12.30pm). Southern teams dont usually do well up norf, so the Man Utd Chelsea tie should be interesting.

Today its national flags tomorrow its no Eid celebrations at all. But thats not the point. They talk about a free country etc etc but then things like this make you think, why is this not the case when the Sihks are celebrating Divali and Indian flags are all over Southall??? Oh i forgot, because its 'different' right? English flags were everywhere during Euro 2004, there was no protest against that, which is probably the most hate fuelled and offensive flag in the world.
