Don't tell me you've joined the commuter ranks? Depends on your definition of a commuter, is getting a tube/bus to work classed as being a commuter? If so then yes, i have changed from the automobile to the peoplemobile (tube), makes a nice difference from driving each morning. My definition of a commuter is someone who travels from outside of London in the morning and back out again in the evening.

You only just realise you have lost your sunglasses-you left them in Greece 2 summers ago.( i think this is not for Somali folks) lol, i keep them in my glove box for 9 months, then wear them like brand new for 3 months  4. After a big night out you find yourself looking for a Curry house and not a 24 hour McDonalds. Now who would want a Mcdonalds at 3am? A good old greasy kebab and chips does the trick ps your cousin hasnt been here long saxib

Most of the unfortunate kids caught up in this are innocents who are in the wrong place at the wrong time. Lets not bundle everybody together in the same basket.

^^^lol, I'm also a die hard Dhino fan, plus needed a change of name, if Totti and Rooney can do it why not me? You should call yourself Paskel Cygan

True, but she doesnt criticise the govnt's short comings much, maybe she feels a positive approach is what required. A somali doing the same is a good idea, but an objective one is difficult to come by. He shall be corrupted before long.

The best autobigraphy i've read and probably the best thing to happen to the afro-americans, too bad many didnt recognise it at that time.

I'm affraid its a cold world we live in, there is no solution to this problem. Seeing a somali being beaten by a non-somali is enough to make your heart pound with anger (whatever the reason) and most of us will do anything to help, even risk one's own life just to help your brother. I dont see this happning in other cultures unless they actually 'know' the person being beaten. I guess we are naive as a people and dont know where and when danger lurks. Hence the larger number of teens being involved in trouble. Of course there are other reasons why teens are getting into too much trouble but more and more innocents are being targeted for being 'somali'.

Last night, flicking through the channels (as you do) i came across a programme called, what the Ancients did for us on BBC2, why not i thought to myself as i do a little history from time to time. It was probably the best programme i have seen for a long time. It focused on what the islamic world discovered/developed/though of/engineered while the west was lagging far behind. This is a what they concluded after an hour of great narration and toures through Andalucian walk ways/old mosques/ pharmacies in souks in Cairo and so. Just thought i would share, The Islamic World The rise of Islam is one of the most important events in world history. In the 7th century, Mohammed's (pbuh)intention was to unite the divided Arabs through a new religion. A century after his death, he'd succeeded in producing a medieval superpower. The Arabs and Moors had spread through Spain towards the Pyrenees. Cordoba became renowned as one of the greatest and wealthiest cities in Europe. Moorish cities such as Toledo and Seville were famed for their new culture and universities. The first What The Ancients Did For Us programme explores the Muslim contribution to the western world - in art, architecture, astronomy, medicine, science, and learning. The early Muslims are credited with inventing distillation and could distil just about anything - from alcohol to perfume. Hygiene is very important in the Muslim world so they invented and manufactured soap - centuries before the West - and hundreds of bathhouses were built throughout Muslim cities. They understood the fundamentals of light and how we see, and gave us the camera obscura. They invented algebra and worked out the angle of the tilt of the earth. They built the first windmill, pioneered the concept of the crank rod, and designed the first ever torpedo. Muslim creativity also led to the invention of a unique instrument called the astrolabe – it could find the direction of Mecca, tell the time and, with the help of the stars, navigate you across deserts and oceans. But perhaps most important of all they pursued the cause of knowledge, translating and preserving the works of the ancients and building the world's largest libraries – their 'houses of wisdom'. http://www.open2.net/whattheancients/islamicworld.html
