The best possible outcome is genuine reconciliation and agreement among all warring groups. This will be a difficult task that would require serious men who are sincere in their efforts. With enough pressure from the West and the realization on the elites' part, that they will lose everything might prompt a change in their behavior. This is the most hopeful outcome. Abiy is the biggest obstacle. Unfortunately, the West believes there is no clear alternative leader that can replace him. The Emirate money and Turkish/Chinese are what keep in power militarily. Other groups that will hinder any peace process include: 1. Oromo PP, this is the group that surrounds Abiy. Their support for him is strong. This is due to the fact they are now occupying the admin centers of the government and military. They are amazingly corrupt and are robbing the country blind. 2. OLA. Abiy tried to coopt OLA with the promises of positions within the government. They flatly declined his offer. Their only interest is free Oromia. They are most active in Western Oromia and Borana regions. They ran most of the rural areas and moved as they wished. Abiy tried to suppress with regional forces, ENDF, and drones, but it is winning OLA more fans. 3. Amhara: The Amhara are most aggrieved. They sincerely believe Abiy wouldn't have defeated TPLF without their sacrifice. Their grievances are not only with Abiy. They believe they have unfairly been blamed for everything that went wrong in Ethiopia since the days of Melenik, and as such, every new admin would hit them hard. The Amhara can be divided into three groups, the first group wants to oust Abiy and revive the centralized Ethiopia where they ran everything. The second group has given up on Ethiopia. They come to believe a separate homeland for Amhara is a must. This group supports the Fano movement. The third group is within PP. They once believed they could change the government within, but that hope has faded and many are leaving PP, and with their departure, PP has essentially an Oromo party. 4. Ethiopian army: The institution is not what used to be. It is highly dependent on conscripts and it is beginning to look an Oromo party. Most generals and colonels are Oromo. It is no longer a reflection of Ethiopia. More and more soldiers are defecting every day. 5. Tigray; The peace process between Abiy and TPLF has not worked out well for Tigray. From TPLF's perspective, their lands are still in the enemy's hands. Aid is barely coming into Tigray. They appealed to the AU to help in implementing the Pretoria Agreement. TPLF still has two hundred thousand armed forces. Abiy wants them to join the war, but so far, they have wisely decided not. 6. Eritrea: Afwerki feels crossed. He believed in a centralized Ethiopia with no ethnic borders, but he made the mistake of trusting an Ethiopian leader. He was blinded by his hatred for TPLF. I believe he is no longer vested in one Ethiopia whose leaders he can manage. There are three possible ends. The first and most difficult is what I mentioned above, true peace among all parties with acceptable political settlement. The second is an apocalyptic end to this ailing empire, a war to end all wars where new countries will be born. The third is a new alliance among Highlanders and Eritrea that can overwhelm Abiy and exile or kill him. The Highlanders and Eritrea are politically savvy enough to put their differences aside in pursuit of a bigger goal.

This has culminated in a situation where a significant and misguided decision, like establishing a military base along the Somaliland Red Sea, encompassing an area larger than the entire state of Malta, is perceived as a positive development, as long as it inches closer to the cherished dream of recognition (Ictiraaf). My concern lies in the uncompromising approach of Biisi, potentially leading the country into instability if we continue to proceed without a clear direction. Unfortunately, I haven't observed any rational leaders in recent days who are willing to voice sensibility amidst the prevailing madness and hatred (Wixii Somalia dhibiya waanu ku faraxsanahay). If there's a possibility of ceding Lughaha or the Saylac Territory to the Habeshas, I fear that this could be the tipping point, igniting another confrontation. Biixi seems confident that he can suppress such unrest, but we all know how that turned out recently.

There is a political problem in Somaliland, which can only solved through politics. And no amount of bullets, violence and arrest of youth can solve the political underlying issue, it will only make it worser leading to deterioration of security and economics.

Here is what the English dictionary say about the word " Compromise" : "an agreement reached by adjustment of conflicting or opposing claims, principles" or a settlement of differences by mutual concessions. In Puntland there was a contentious election since C/laahi Dani initiated a province wide one person one vote election. The majority of the people had welcomed this universal suffrage which has been delayed for more than two decades. Yet, a very small group of politicians based in Garoowe refused this inclusive election. In fact, violent clashes had taken place between the government and the clan militia that objected the election. Each one of them had certain unmovable principles to object the opposite side. While it is difficult to oppose Dani as someone calling a wider public participation, his intensions were always suspicious. He had an opportunity to hold the elections early in his first year of his leadership, but decided to wage a campaign to replace Farmaajo and thrown the local elections to the dust bin. The Garoowe group had prepared for the usual selections of buying elders. At the same time, the opposition to Dano happen to be his most loyal cabinet members. Dani had more advantage including that the people of Puntland hate the Garoowe opposition as rich spoiled oligarchs who feel entitled. Their defeat was apparent, but since this project was nurtured through compromise and consensus, it was difficult for many leaders to give C/laahi Dani a black check especially after his neglect of the Puntland issues for higher power. More clashes in peaceful town also doesn't bode well for Puntland. Thus, both sides would get something from these constitutional moves. First, the idea of 66 elders selecting the leader was abandoned while preserving both the principle of direct democracy advocated by Dani and the select small caucuses preferred by the Garoowe oligarchs. The number of electors will be 66 as demanded by the insurgents in Garoowe, but these 66 will be elected with the banner of a political parties. Each region is assigned a fixed number of seats like before, but will be elected directly by the people. In turn these 66 members belonging to different parties will chose the president of Puntland. Everyone is satisfied. It is a great compromise. If this was Biixi with support of 90% of the people he would have destroyed his opposition. The mature Puntlanders decided to workout something with their opposition rather than vanquish them. The game will be played with the rules agreed upon and everyone will accept the outcome. In Hargeisa, the warlord turned president has refused every compromise. Since the day the political disagreements started in the summer of 2021 just after the Parliament and municipal election, he never moved an inch. The opposition asked him to hold the presidential election which was away just over a year, but refused delaying and disbanding election commissions. When the business community worked out a compromise that would hold both the Guurti and presidential elections together, he refused again. When the parliament passed in new law to lead to compromise he refused. It is either his way or the highway. For six years he never gave the opposition for one single inch. Sometimes he hides behind the old fart Saleebaan Gaal, the commission or the court. He forgot that this place had survived through a compromise. History had shown the Maryo Allol had never brought peace or compromise. All they know is the barrel. This time around they will get for what they wish.
