Ethiopian woman sets new Dubai Marathon record

Dubai: William Todoo Rotich of Kenya emerged as the new champion with a timing of 2:09:53 at the Dubai Marathion held on Friday morning.

 

He failed to erase the Dubai Marathon record of 2:09:33sec. set by his compatriot Joseph Kahugu in 2003, by just twenty seconds.

 

However, in the women's event, Askale Tafa Magarsa of Ethiopia set a new mark by emerging as the new champion with a timing of 2:27:19sec. She erased the record of 2:33:31 set by Albina Ivanova of Russia in 2002.
