  1. Salaan... Sax waaye, duqa, laakiin adiga ayaaba ka dartay oo erayada si fiican u sixin. Kasoo qaad tusaale ahaan waxaa qortay "Baidabo" ama "Somali" ama "Galkacyo" ama "Kismayo" ama "Somalia." Intaasba hadii Soomaali ahaan loo qoro sax ma'aha. Somali=Soomaali Baidabo=Baydhabo {ama Baydhaba} Galkacyo=Gaalkacyo Kismayo=Kismaayo Somalia=Soomaaliya Soomaali badan ayaa shaqal dheernimada ka tagaan, kasnimo ha ugu ahaato ama si kaleba ha u ahaato. Isticmaalida shaqal dheerka waa muhiim, aad iyo aad waliba, waana sababta koowaad loo doortay in afka loogu qoro "Laatiin" maxaa yeelay Carabi hadii loo qori lahaa, shaqal dheer ama shaqal gaab ahaan af Soomaali waa ku suurtoobi weysay. Waa waxa kala saaraayo gal iyo gaal, ama bur iyo buur. Waa kugu raacsanahay rayigaaga, sidaas ku wad dadaalka.

  4. Salaan... I once--in about three years ago--read an intriguing printed e-mails exchanged by Khaalid bin Waliid and this TROID organization. The proponents were Afras Barqash (I call him that, though it is Baksh) from Khaalid and a senior member on behalf of TROID. I was surprised. The e-mails contained the wildest insults and furthest allegations beyond that you would think those were truck-drivers, iska dhaafee wadaado surwaalgaabtay. And I still remember at the same time one vivid Friday khudba that same Afras Barqash was on the podium, very emotional and appealing and refuting those who were accusing him some allegations he said he had never said. Alas half of congregants who were there at that particular Friday khudba had no idea what he was talking about. I too wouldn't had I not read the exchanged e-mails prior. Both of those Islamic organizations on the surface seem undistinguished, and I still can't distinguish what are their inner squabbling about. Anyway, when I saw this, it reminded me the years back then and I thus went both of their websites now and searched each regarding the other, the Khaalid site doesn't have any archives about TROID; however TROID does have regarding about Khaalid and here is the part of e-mail I read and what that khudba based on: "The first question is in regards to the disgusting, erroneous jargon sputtered from the mouth of Afraaz Baksh in which the hizbee lied, 'Let’s look at Shaykh Ahmad Ibn Hanbal... We refer him and we defend him; he is the Imaam of Ahlus-Sunnah but how many times you can prove him, I am not to prove him, the ‘Ulamaa can prove him that he (Imaam Ahmad) has went away from Ahlus-Sunnah in aspects of ‘Aqeedah.' (Note: this is a direct audible quote from Baksh himself, the grammatical errors belong to him. He speaks with broken English as anyone who has seen his book would have noticed.)" Some more I found: "Regarding the wretched Hizbee masjid, Khaalid Ibnul-Waleed, Hasan as-Sumaalee {Soomaali} stated, 'Munajjid is on their site...the Imaam of this masjid...he is at war with the manhaj of the salaf, criticizes the ‘Ulamaa.. he is far from the Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah. I listened to one of the people of this masjid (Afraaz Baksh) and he stated that Imaam Ahmad made mistakes in manhaj! Imaam Ahmad has no mistakes in manhaj. I went to Shaykh Muqbil myself and he said the hizbees are liars! Likewise from them you see members of al-Itihaad (Qutbee, Surooree Neo-Khaarajees) who kill Muslims (in Somalia). They are at war with ‘Ahlus-Sunnah. This is a masjid of hizbiyyah. The brothers at TROID phoned Shaykh Rabee’, Ignore these people and continue with the da’wah. These people will continue upon hizbiyyah. You hear them claim the sunnah and yet they spread the tapes of the people of innovation. I heard one say ‘Bashir is the muhaddith of Canada’, who appointed him as this? Where is your ijaazah? Come and produce it, there are no scholars in the west. Why would he be elevated, so that he would be listened to… everyone is a Shaykh, masha’Allaah, Canada has hundreds of mashaykh. Why? To keep you in darkness... don’t give him knowledge. Even if you bring them tapes of the haqq, they reject it, why? Because they are their people." _________________ You might also find some message by Khaalid masaajid that is equally offensive. This is one of the reasons surwaalgaab waa hore warkooda iska dhaafay. They are extremely intolerant to one another and bicker the slightest differences. Khaalid masaajid doesn't sell books by Siraaj Wahaaj and some notable North American Islamic scholars, including Xamsa Yuusuf. I can understand in the case of Xamsa, but Siraaj? Ilaahey ha u wada gargaaro wadaadadeen. Hadeeba iyaga saan yihiin, maxaa noo dhiman.

However, there are assumptions, presumptions and afterthoughts people took for as a subtle underlining message in the post. Earlier in this week, it was reported, C/laahi Yuusuf and his entourage wanted to go to Masar, they were rebuffed, allegedly, by Xusni Mubaarak. He instead re-routed his plane to Sacuudiya. His detractors jeered. Now, he is going to Qaahiro, his supporters are cheering, even if it was under the pretext of tacsi. It is just a little silly Soomaali politics. *Note: This analyzing involves purely assuming the presumptions.
  8. Salaan... We've had seen those Pharaonic cave markings and what other ancient cultures left behind, but do we have one of our own? Let's see. These are ancient cave markings found in Taleex. 11. Salaan... Folks, what's the sudden fascination with Buur Hakabe? Wah. Oh, perhaps, I guess it was all about that song by Xasan Aadan Samatar: Hakaba banaanshee Buurtoo ki taaloo Banooda le eree Balantayni haaytee Baabuur ma raa'aaw Eey iila buubee Eey iila buubee Libaax, Buur Hakabe xaa iga galay, widaay. Anu Nugaal ki kooye, i weydii meeshaas. LOL. Buur Hakaba (hakab stands for an old word denoting something that is both qadiim and qiimo leh, or in other word "treasure") is one of the oldest inland Southern towns of the country. Anyway, here are some pictures:
  12. Salaan... They said Soomaaliya needs at least $6 billion for reconstructing the basic* infrastructure. Do you know how much that is in Shilin Soomaali? The last time I knew $1 was exchanged 1,700 Shilin Soomaali. Do the math. 10,200,000,000,000!! That is 10.2 trillion Shilin Soomaali. So, can we get this from out our own pockets? Methinks not, even if we tried to print more devalued paper money. ______________ * it seems "basic" is defined as what we had back in 1990. Spending back to past.

  14. Salaan... This is the then new proposed constitutional draft, perhaps with finalized minor changes made since it was drafted in August, 2003. You can view it if you only have Adobe Reader. If you don't, follow this link. Also, if you got time to spare, you can check the OLD first constitution of the 1960. Old Constitution of the Republic of Somalia. Again if you can't view it on Adobe Reader, here is a HMTLized site. Now, some interesting contrasts between the old constitution of 1960 of the newly born Republic and our new warlord-sponsored transitional federal constitution. Whereas the Constitution of 1960 of Soomaali Republic in Article 1 unequivocally declares: " The Somali people is one and indivisible." In the new constitution, those words are omitted, deliberately. In Article 6(4) of the old Constitution of the Republic: " The Somali Republic should promote, by legal and by peaceful means, the union of Somali territories..." In the new Transitional Federal constitution, in Article 2(1), we have: " The Unity, Territorial, Integrity, Political independence and Sovereignty of the Republic of Somalia shall be independent, sacred, inviolable and indivisible." It talks about the sovereignty of the "Republic of Somalia," but carefully doesn't mention the occupied/lost territories and lands Soomaalis reside. In circumstantial times we are in, I can definitely understand, though. Regarding rights of citizenship, the old Constitution in Article 2(1,2,3) states: 1. The people consists of all the citizens. 2. The manner of acquiring and losing citizenship shall be established by law. 3. No person may be denied citizenship or deprived thereof for political reasons. The key words here are "all" and "people." Those who wrote that old constitution deliberately had in mind to indicate that "all" Soomaali people, wherever they may happen to be, are automatically citizens of newly born Soomaali Republic. What does our new warlord-proposed charter say? In Article 14: CITIZENSHIP BY BIRTH Every person of Somali origin shall be entitled to citizenship of the Republic of Somalia PROVIDED that:" A.)He /She was born in the Republic of Somalia; or B.)Whose father is a citizen of the Republic of Somalia If it stuck saying, "every person of Soomaali origin shall be entitled" would have been suffice, but it, for reasons unknown, wanted to clarify, adding "provided." Provided, yes, for deliberation intended those who now reside Soomaali Galbeed and NFD can now all forget about claiming an automatic right of Somali Republic "citizenship," which they have had every right to. It still seems vague, but make no mistake, the target was that. Continued in Article 15: CITIZENSHIP BY NATURALIZATION 1) Any person who is or has been ordinarily resident in the Republic of Somalia for a continuous period of ten (10) years; and 2) Who satisfies the conditions prescribed by an Act of Parliament may apply to be naturalized as a citizen of Somalia 3) Any person, born outside the Republic of Somalia whom one of his parents, or grandparents are or were native of the Republic of Somalia. Foreigners can now have the luxury to become "naturalized" Soomaali citizens. Emulating the very advanced Western societies.
  15. Salaan... This reminds an occasion in late 1994 in Nairobi. The old folks were listening BBC and it reported geeridii Max'ed Siyaad Barre. After BBC, the ensuing discussion was, of course, about Siyaad and his kacaan. So one of the listeners, my uncle perhaps, said and I quote: "Soomaali, Max'ed Siyaad Barre iyo kacaankiis waa u darsan doonaan, maalintee ahaataba." I looked at him like duqa ma lagu soo dagay. Now, ten years later, I did finally understood his prophetic words: We did miss Oktoobar! He kept to ground firmly those animals we call warlords. Anyway, kids used to look forward and did enjoy Oktoobar 21, since most didn't know or care a thing or two about politics. We just loved the school-days off, since we had 11 months in school year. Ooh, ardeydii Ubaxa Kacaanka, ardeydii Xalane, meerijaanka, hooyooyinka, kuwii dabka afka ka keenaaye, ciidamada Daraawiishta, kumaandooska, diyaaradihii miiga...bababa, wadan waa ahayn! 16. Salaan... Even in Bisha Soon oo barakeysan oo lagu jiro, a dead Muslim man, who can certainly not defend himself, can't be left alone to lay in peace. Gaani, Ilaahey ha u danbi dhaafo.
  17. Salaan... Brother Yuusuf, long time, indeed. "See tahay" {how are you?}. I found an ancient masaajid, and I don't know whether you consider it to be a 'relic.' This masaajid, known as "Cabdicasiis," was built in late 900s, more than thousand years old. It was located in the old section of Muqdisho called Shangaani district. To this day, to my knowledge, it is still standing.
  18. Salaan... Aloow, ana hada lee kooye! Dagaal ii dareeraa fadee Kaaba laadar Istuujiye with his ciyaal xaafad and their baabuur-baabureey! One thing, though, is that I never liked and never made those baabuur-baabureey and kushineeto, even though I missed them.
  19. Salaan... Business iyo Soomaali isku deey. Read on. ________________ Hassan Adawi Arab News JEDDAH, 21 September 2004--If your iqama, passport, driving license or any such document is lost, don’t worry. There is a time-tested way to get them back, provided you pay through the nose. Abdul Majeed, an expatriate, had recently lost his wallet that contained his iqama, driving license and certain other vital documents. He went to the police station to lodge a written complaint where he was asked to advertise the loss in an Arabic newspaper. He should also obtain a letter from his employer announcing the loss. And after a month of the announcement he should go to the Passport Department and apply for new documents which would entail a fee of SR5,000 as well as an agonizing period of wait. As luck would have it, one person present at the station directed Majeed to Souk Al-Somal (the Somali souk) in Bab Makkah district, saying it was a place (in)famous for finding lost things — anything and everything, especially official documents such as iqama. Majeed went straight to Souk Al-Somal where someone accosted him, asking "have you lost your iqama?" He said yes. "You will find it here," said the man who told him to go into the souk with a copy of his iqama. An African approached Majeed and asked where he had lost his documents. In order to verify the truth of his claim, he asked Majeed about the validity of his documents and the name of his sponsor. Then the man told him that he could have his wallet back but it would cost him SR2,500. Once the amount was agreed he took down Majeed’s mobile number and promised to call the next day. The next day prompt came the call saying the wallet had been found and Majeed should meet him at the Al-Mahmal Center’s parking lot at 5 p.m. When they met Majeed was handed the iqama but not the rest of the contents of the wallet. So Majeed paid out only SR1,200. Mohammad Khan is a Pakistani living in Jeddah. He had lost his iqama and driving license in Madinah where he had gone to meet his son who came from London on a visit. I looked everywhere for the lost document but in vain. One of the shopkeepers asked Khan where he lived. When he replied "Jeddah", he too was told to go to Bab Makkah where he would certainly find his documents. He informed Khan that the place was well known in the Kingdom for finding lost documents. Khan returned to Jeddah and went to Bab Makkah’s Souk Al-Somal to ask about his wallet that contained SR2,000 cash, driving license, car documents and bank cards. Once he entered the area he was approached by a man who asked whether he had lost anything and if so where. He took down his mobile number. Two days later Khan got a call informing him that his wallet had been found and that he should meet him with SR2,500 toward his expenses. When they met at the appointed time and place he was handed over the wallet with all the documents but minus the SR2,000 cash. Khan took the wallet and left, wondering if SR2,500 was not the cost of applying for new official documents. On being told these first-hand accounts, this reporter was driven by curiosity to visit the area on his own to find out what was going on there. At Souk Al-Somal, I presented myself dressed in non-Saudi clothes. I too carried copies of my legal documents and was also approached and asked the same questions. The man who met me also asked whether my iqama was new or old because the expenses would differ accordingly. Furthermore, was my family included in the iqama? That would make a difference in cost as well. Inquisitively, I asked what would happen if the owner of the iqama they had did not show up. He said: "Easy, we simply change the details and picture and sell it to another person. There are many who come for Haj and stay back without a legal iqama ... and our iqama doesn’t cost them as much as a legal iqama."
  20. Salaan... Compare this though to the lack of freedom Somalis have in Xamar, where some have been killed for such show of support. And demonstrations have been made 'illegal' in L. Shabelle...very sad. Tell me, what did His Excellency Cabdulaahi Yuusuf Axmed had done to those who participated shirkii Carta? Remember, they were some islaamo, not commoners. If you can't recall, he called them "criminal."
  21. Salaan... Xamar is the perennial capital city of Soomaaliya; it is xudunta of Soomaali unity, once it is removed, then the whole Soomaali midnimo disintegrates. If one has the gut to claim the presidency of Soomaali nation, then let his/her seat of power felt in Xamar. Otherwise, one should abdicate and leave it to those who can and are able to. Don't forget, Xamar is a victim itself, brutalized and victimized by some "soo galooti" people. Xamar for now and forever--temporal or not.

  23. Salaan... Xoogsade, true and sax, brother. I wholly concur with you. What I wrote was a little reminder those who are going to play the tribal card in the upcoming days, which will be certain. I am sure some will play this tribal card, whom my stern message was intended to. If they want to play a tribal card, they had their chances in 14 years. No more. They have to give their critical support this at-last government, and I am afraid they might spoil, God forbid. As my sister loves to say, "dowkalee doowrad ernoo!" (Maanta lee shaleey ha dhahno; yacni ha naga tagto masiibadaan.) Ee haloo duceeyo dowladaan, since I am tired living this freak frozen land.
