^^ Heh Again, it makes no sense at all. If anything your example proves its futility. The Americans picked on Al Jazeera for a specific reason. But even then they still could not stop it from broadcasting. We live in the satellite TV age, saaxib. This curbing of the freedom of the press won’t wash. I still think it’s about taxes more than control (even though I’m sure they’ll try).
-
It’s unlikely to have anything to do with press control and more to do with official sanctioning of the press. Get them to come down, register and pay some fees is what the plan is I think. I know this government is a bit on the slow side but surely, even they know that the press can’t be suppressed in this day and age. Not with the advent of satellite TV, the net and good old BBC World Service.

Don’t fret, Val. It seems all these convicts have been put in one cell. It’s like a net café in there. By the way, how come everyone in here seems to be from Xamar? I get the feeling some people are telling a few fibs. Ps I’m not surprised nobody claimed to be in Holland. All those desperate Nomads left that place as soon as they eat all the cheese. Most are grazing in Birmingham and Leicester now (with a few enlightened ones in London). Also, JB must be our only representative in the whole of Scandinavia (and what a lighthouse of a man he is).

^^ You former trolls have been overtaken by the younger crowd.

Can you see the smiling face? Source

^^^ Are you a headmistress of some married men's school? Look! There goes a married man talking to a single girl. Stop him! Stop him now.
-
I got a phone call from him earlier. He didn't run! He forgot to set the alarm and overslept. He apologises to you all and promises to wake up for the next race. ps It does not sound like many people have much faith in him. You all wonder if he'll even finish.

Valenteenah, why are you repeating our conversations here? When I said it, I mean it, woman.

^^^ Talking of Arabic, how did you get your signature to work? This new forum does not seem to support Arabic fonts (or maybe the ones I'm using). Test: وزائرتي كان بها حياء, فليس تزور الا في الظلام بذلت لها المطارف والحشايا, فعافتها وباتت في عظامي Oh worked

Val, Inclusive and diverse? But where is the catch? Where is the gimmick that will get people’s heads turning in support? You can’t win support on the strength of the empty slogans of inclusive and diverse. Not in Somalia at any rate. You have failed this informal interview for the job but you still have a chance to redeem yourself. Go away, think up a new publicity stunt and return before the 15th of the month. Ps I still think the women’s movement is your best option. It’s new, fresh and original.

Nigeria, South Africa, and Malawi to sent troops.
NGONGE replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
Those troops from those countries, they are infected with high levels of Aids. South Africa is 25% Hiv rate. We don't want those kind of troops in our country. Are our women so loose that this Aids nonsense worries you that much? Those unwitting insults never half annoy me. -
President Abdullahi Yusuf meets with UNDP representative!
NGONGE replied to Fiqikhayre's topic in Politics
LIQAYE, Great and almost logical speech there, saaxib. I almost pushed my chair back and stood up applauding. Still, there is a tiny problem with your logic. I can’t understand how you could admit that this government is corrupt on the one hand yet you also could easily brush that aside and expect miracles on the other! The question you keep asking and use as proof to the futility of the position of those opposing this government is ‘what next’! Well, shouldn’t that question apply to your stance too? What next for Yusuf and co? Again, I asked Caamir this question on a previous post and I repeat it here to you. The TFG is not new. They’ve been here for the past TWO YEARS and we all have seen how incompetent, objectionable and clueless they have been. Today, they’re on the ascendancy thanks to Ethiopian and American support. A support that neither Geedi nor Yusuf can really take credit for. It is after all down to American and Ethiopian convenience/interest rather than the TFG’s great political know-how and shrewdness. I could only guess that your position (unlike that of Duke’s and Horn’s) is to support the lesser evil. However, today, in Somali politics, there really isn’t a lesser evil. Just because a Somali president finally managed to establish himself in the capital and stumbled upon some foreign strength to allow him to maintain his position does NOT mean that all the old problems have vanished. Could the TFG erase these problems? Could it solve them? Only a foolish or an eternal optimist of a man could reply YES to this question. In which case, most observers would not regard him as such but will (with some justification) assume that he’s only toeing the clannish line (see Horn’s tantalising support of his uncle or Duke’s inflexible belief in Yeey!). If you’re really trying to be reasonable, neutral and only have Somalia’s best interest at heart you certainly would not be giving the TFG your full and unquestionable support and would rather be asking even louder questions than those being asked by the ICU’s fans. Having said that, I actually have no doubt that all sides THINK their way is the best way forward for Somalia, only the Somalia most of you talk about is the one that ensures your people come first. As long as you blindly support the TFG, ICU or whatever comes next you really are in no position to lecture others on what is good or proper. Take the tinted shades off and then maybe you’ll be in a position good enough to see the carnage for what it is. -
Click on 'Search' and type the word Coffee. I think it's in the General forum. There are shedloads of coffee addicts on this forum. We, of course, prefer TEA.

^^^ Remuneration is very attractive. We have studied the market and are attempting to match the basic start-up salaries most African revolutionary movements receive. With eventual control of airports, ports and a few vital trades we believe that the successful candidates will make enough to retire on in about, err, six months! Care you throw your movement’s name in the hat. The Araweelo Collective is quintessentially Somali and would probably receive the support of at least half the population. If you make castrating the president your main and only aim, I daresay two thirds of the population will be on your side.

I come from the posh part of Burco. No idea where North and Sheh come from. Giil jire imposters I bet.

Of course you like her, Xu. You're a hippy, dear.

That was last week. This week the Somali flag looks like this: No need for a blue background, I'm sure the current mood makes up for that.

^^ There are no dahabshil branches where I work. My secretary (read wife) is dealing with it as we speak. I make the money she gets the glory.
-
It used to take 18 months. But our most recent calculations show that six months is the new benchmark. We wait to see if any of the various Somali competitors will break their personal bests this year. The betting men all think Aideed junior is the most likely person to fall out with the TFG due to his very big mouth and persistent propensity to take off before the B of the bang.

Warya North, Don't embarrass us in this race, man. If you don’t finish this race I shall use my contacts to spread the news in your hometown (both hometowns) and destroy your good name forever. We shall disown you warya. Ps Got the e-mail. Thanks.

^^ How much faith do you have in the TFG, saaxib? If they were some new government that had risen up from the ashes of the old TFG I might have understood your immovable enthusiasm. But, this is not the case. These are the same thugs that were fighting amongst themselves a year ago! You probably were condemning half of them as such. You see, I have no problem with one toeing the clan line. If Mr Yusuf is your elder then it stands to reason that you will support him. It’s the Somali way and you should not pay any heed to anyone’s criticism. However, at the same time, surely one can recognise a sinking ship when one sees one. Or if it were not sinking, one should at least point out the holes that might make it sink. We have been here countless times in the past and none of us could pretend to be ignorant of the pitfalls in our way. Total blind support (as you and Duke) have been displaying is not just rash; it’s illogical, saaxib. Wont you take a step back and look at the situation without the Puntland tinted shades?
-
^^^ He's on a promise. The London ambassadorship is still up for grabs. Though with president Riyale visiting Addis the other day, I think our Duke might have some competition there. Not unless Riyale wants to go to Egypt instead.

Besides, you dont look for love, it finds you . wa salaaam I know. Every time I walk into a department store, see a pretty woman in the underground, walk into a doughnut place or pass by a pretty young filly in the street, love finds me! It’s quite annoying really. As for reproduction, I refer the honourable missy to her discussions with Ibti and the preservation of those lovely hips. Swings and roundabouts, is it not?

^^ I neither liked nor disliked the ICU, saaxib. It’s been years since I last had any hope for any Somali movement or government, and the emergence of the ICU didn’t change that. I wished them to do well but in my heart of hearts I had a strong feeling that they will not. Their defeat brought me no joy and these threads are not celebration posts. Still, from experience, we all know that this is not the end and that the TFG are going to get new opposition sooner or later. They might be like the ICU, they might be better or they might be worse. One thing is for sure; this vicious circle is not likely to end anytime soon. Not unless the Somali mentality changes. Till then, we’re left with two options, lament or ridicule.

With the defeat of the ICU, there is an opening for a suitable new faction to take over the baton as the new opposition to Mr Yusuf’s TFG. Job requirements: Must be ignorant of world politics and the arts of war. Must have genuine and demonstrable hatred for all bordering countries. Must aim to subdue the clannish ambitions of the president or at least soak them up by displaying similar or sharper clannish tendencies. Must be a nationalist movement that aims to reunite the whole of Somalia but for pragmatic and realpolitic reasons is willing to turn a blind eye to the Somaliland issue. Must introduce new heroes, leaders and national symbols to the Somali political scene. In addition, these must be accompanied by a couple of well-known old foxes to offset the Yusuf-Geedi double act. Must have outside support, preferably from the Arab League or the South American Cooperative Union of countries that never appear in any maps but are always involved with revolutionary and nationalist movements. Must promote a certain ideology. Unfortunately here, we shall not be accepting applications from any Islamic movements. The previous occupiers of this post had this ideology and for the purposes of equal opportunities we, sadly, cannot offer the job to Muslim groups again. Communists are hardly ever represented in Somali politics though and their applications (should any apply) will be viewed most favourably. Skills An ability to fully utilise all available propaganda An ability to catch the eye, hoodwink and attract the populace and draw international attention/or support. Must be masters in camouflage, rumour mongering and outrageous statements. Must show proof of being touched by greatness and accompanied by constant fortune. Furthermore, must show the ability and the good fortune to catch two birds with one stone, in a dark moonless night. Must speak several languages fluently and have working knowledge of Somali. The lack of any foresight and discretion is advantageous. The lack of any forward planning and the obsession of style over substance is a must. Candidates should forward their applications, not later than Monday, 15 January 2007, to Somaliaonline.com/Politics/Situation Vacant.
