Of course I scored a goal. I scored plenty of goals. It’s not my fault that the football clubs were not paying attention when I was in my prime (between the ages of ten and fourteen). It was truly their loss not mine. Don't worry about the boy, he's got football running in his vains.

^^^ Come on now. Don't ask silly questions walaal There are lots of things worth dying for. In fact I’m more than certain that should I list them you will be nodding your head in agreement. Where I differ with you is on the timing and reason for risking one’s life. A couple of petty robbers are not worth sacrificing one’s life to. Even worse if you jump in with the deluded expectation that you’ll be a martyr! You see, sister, when giving your life (fi sabeel Allah) who decides that you’re a martyr? Yourself, the scholars or the creator of mankind? How can one be 100 % sure that Allah will accept their sacrifice and consider them martyrs?

^^ Only trying to help and not trivialise things, saaxib.

"I think that's when ppl really realise that blood is thicker than water". What an ill-timed choice of words.

Heh. As far as I can see the nearest to football that boy is going to be will be a bloody hooligan. I’m not sure how ( ) but he’s already a Liverpool fan. I’ve already done a team there. Well, at least a spine of a team.

^^^ I was talking about Andy Johnson by the way. Stubbs is rubbish really. ps Rafa is great. The way he spat out that 'small club' comment was classic

Xiin, You just had to come and rescue this topic, didn’t you? As crazy and ironic as it might all sound I believe that it’s really all about Survival. I’ve already played this game with Red Sea on another thread. One is clannish because one believes that everyone around him is an enemy (and this has some truth in it of course) and that only one’s brothers, cousins and kin can protect him from being trampled over by others. Yes all of this is backward and somewhat irrational but the circumstances of the last sixteen years, and the years before that, fully justify it. A recent case in point would be the government’s call for an arms amnesty in the capital. What did the people of the capital respond with other than to say first Puntland and then us! Even when the Courts came with their Islamic message many of those opposing them did so for clannish reasons. Were they wrong? I don’t think so. For better or worse, their reasons were as valid as those of the ones that refused the arms amnesty. The same applies to Somaliland and the disputed territories. The people in those areas aren’t likely to love Puntland that much but, for safety and survival they had to follow the principle of better the devil you know! It’s all about survival. Find a valid and workable alternative and people will ditch this clannish nonsense like Val’s three month old shoes (she’s fashion conscious, our Val ). The education point maybe one to be looked at but I honestly don’t believe it plays that big a part in changing attitudes, not in Somalia at any rate. For if we went down that route it will take us years of effort and trying. Not to mention of course that this type of ‘education’ requires a steady environment and willing pupils. People will only ditch the waxa-la-yedhi mentality when they are presented with a better and more beneficial alternative. Many almost did when the Courts came along. Alas that turned out to be nothing but a storm in a tea cup. At any rate, I don’t think I’ve presented anything new here and really didn’t think the questions of the original author merited serious replies. For if he’s asking us what’s wrong with Somalis now (after a full sixteen years of civil war) he is totally, utterly and completely missing the point. We’ve gone beyond the Why and have been stuck with the How for more than a decade, saaxib. Now I wonder HOW this thread is going to fizzle out? My bet is on a clannish argument.

^^^ There is meddling and then there is given simple advice. Nobody can force a free adult to do what they don't want to do. All one can do is show them how it is and then sit and watch them make the right (or wrong) decision. It all depends on the first instance. If she lets him get away with it easily then there is hardly any hope that she'll walk away. But if she holds her ground maybe there is some chance things might not be repeated. If she walks out, well, she's probably better off. Wife-beating in the West is not as big a problem as in Africa, etc. The woman is free to walk out and is unlikley to suffer by doing so. In Somalia and other places, where the man is the main breadwinner, life compels some women to stay and suffer just so that they can simple LIVE.

^^^ Too late

He is not Somali? Why do I get a feeling that Rudy is going to appear on this thread any moment now? See with wife beaters it really is no good if other guys beat him up. He needs to be jumped by a group of wild girls who will film the whole thing as they kick the day lights out of him. Of course I’m not encouraging such actions but I would assume that the wild girls would approve of such nonsensical violence. Ibti, I don't read all posts. Some times I skim read. As for the odayo they will still try to work towards a reconciliation. What’s a little slap, punch, kick or having you on a headlock when it’s compared to the loss of your marriage? They will say! Adeer arinta ka fakir oo ninkaga ku so noqo (ama so celi).

Once you allow them to interfere they will never stop. Even worse, marriage squabbles usually get childish and if the mullah’s appear to side with one person the other insists on a second opinion, etc, etc. Aha! This reminds me, Mantra, have you exhausted the: bring ‘your oday’ and I’ll bring ‘my oday’ merry go round yet? Or have you not even tried it?

Before we blame the Ethiopian and the rest of the world I urge that we look at our own society, why do we produce abundant haters, intolerantance, difficult, medieval thinkers, parasites, killers, and financers of killers, professional refugees, etc? Before we attack the messenger people take a moment for self-reflection! Point one seems to have been cancelled by point two. You chose to personalise things in your first post and then feigned surprise when simpletons bit your behind! Yet, you still came back in point two and personalised it again! Work on the confusion there, brother/sister. As for point four, is that a fact? Somalis being the ONLY African people to have a prolonged failed state? Still, lets leave facts aside for now. They’re really not that important to this discussion. First let me agree with you that Somalis are a wretched, ignorant and backward people. That we have all those vices you mentioned, and then some. Now, what happens next? Your heart seems to be in the right place, brother/sister. Now, just take your time and think about the reason you started this thread. What do you hope to achieve? What direction do you want it to go in? I’m the first to agree that, sometimes, the best way to get a topic going is by being controversial and obtuse. But that sort of style will only work if you’ve given yourself an amble number of ‘emergency exits’ when writing your questionable piece. I don’t see any signs of these exits. In fact, it looks like you’ve dug yourself a hole and are struggling to wriggle out. Never fear though. A conciliatory post apologising for the misunderstanding and setting forth your reasons for starting such a topic should be enough to pacify the dogs of war. Can you do that or are you too Somali to apologise?

^^^ You're too hasty, my son. There was no 'cay'here. Total and utter amaan only.

When Israel was in Egypt’s land, Let My people go! Oppressed so hard they could not stand, Let My people go! Refrain: Go down, Moses, Way down in Egypt’s land; Tell old Pharaoh To let My people go! No more shall they in bondage toil, Let My people go! Let them come out with Egypt’s spoil, Let My people go! Oh, let us all from bondage flee, Let My people go! And let us all in Christ be free, Let My people go! You need not always weep and mourn, Let My people go! And wear these slav’ry chains forlorn, Let My people go! Your foes shall not before you stand, Let My people go! And you’ll possess fair Canaan’s land, Let My people go! Exodus 5:1 ps Most Orthodox Jews are against the occupation and some don’t even recognise the state of Israel. The Jewish community has never been one voice. In fact, no community can claim to be of one voice. It’s quite impossible to get that many people to agree on the same thing. Alas, it’s always the louder, wealthier and more emotional groups that always triumph. In this case, one is not surprised that most Jews in the Diaspora would support the state of Israel. Their upbringing, emotions and historical heritage tell them that this is their land. It stands to reason that they’ll all support it. Still, on the same token, their Western moralities of fairness, human rights and justice (even if a sham) also compels many to question the whole thing and shakes their resolve.

Heh! A Somali Goth! I bet she has long nails and was wearing combat boots under that dress. Very pretty girl by the way. Plus, she's cool enough to have that ghastly tattoo on her arm and still manage to effortlessly get away with it.

^^^Only Berbatov, Lennon and Butt have been consistent enough this season. The rest were blowing hot and cold throughout. Barry's been great too. And don't forget Everton's top man. They're not top four after all, only a small club

^^^ The webcam came free with the pc. The cell phone is just something really I dislike.

^^ What is an ethnic Somali? One with with camel feet?

^^ I told you on the other thread that I don't own a mobile (cell) phone. I don't. But, I have a webcam Shall I shock you with my wrinkly face? I'm just worried that my 18 year old daughter might see what her old man is doing on the net these days.
