  1. This idea that educated girls are smart must really stop. When it comes to courting, they're as smart as any uneducated Nomadic girl. In fact, I reckon that they're actually worse in that department. Someone wrote that men like airheads! Could it be that the so-called airhead has no airs and graces? Is it possible that she acts natural and flutters her eyelashes when shy, smiles coyly when interested and plays with her hair (or the pin of her hijab) when complimented? If men are intimidated by educated girls it's possibly because they've come across a few that regard the whole flirtation business as a sign of weakness and would expect to conclude the whole thing as if it's some business deal! If they can't get married it is really not because there is a shortage of men, it's because they really don't want it hard enough.
  2. ^^ Was that a dig? I know it's a difficult one and don't expect to get a proper reply from you, but, have you ever asked yourself what will happen if the Somaliland dream does happen?
  3. My Somali has always been understandable, woman. You just fell for northerner's wicked rumours. What do you mean wale lama hayo? You've been here for like..err..erm..EVER! Write to your MP. Heh@nuune
  4. ^^ Here stands gabadh finally sharciga ingreeska heshay. Yaan lala hadlin please; qofka waxan qoray iyada maaha, waa farxada sharciga

Timir laf baa ku jirta. All you say maybe true but the old man did not do himself any favours by running away in the way he did. If she were registered as being younger than the age she really was it wouldn't be that difficult to test her and confirm her real age. The reason people believe he is guilty is in the fact that he confessed to having sex with her and, more importantly, the fact that he ran away. After all, this was a case that was brought on after TEN YEARS, there were no witnesses to the crime itself and there was no way of proving the man's guilt, other than by extracting a full confession from him! Well, confess he did. And to top it all he ran away before the case was brought to court! Thus strengthening the other side's hand. I think any reasonable bystander looking at this situation now would lean heavily towards the girl (telling the truth) rather than the old man.
  6. Originally posted by Northerner: Ngonge, your prediction I will not take seriously saxib. Did you see SG in the MIDDLE of the park yesterday? He was the general! Until Rafa took him off (he was playing with too much passion was his explanaition). Alonso back soon, Kewell (when will he ever return??) back soon and we will be firing on all cylinders. Bring on the Turks! I did and thought he had a good game, saaxib. But I still choose take Alonso's intelligence over Gerrard's passion. I think the manager was spot on to replace him. In fact, I have a slight suspicion that, in the long term, Rafa means to dispense with the services of SG altogether. The man, though a great player, turns Liverpool into a one-man-team. Give me the boys that trounced Derby six-nil anytime. Ps What's this obsession you have with Kewell, saaxib? He's no good at all. A has been to be honest. Pps 3-1 is still my prediction.
  7. A pointless and unnecessary article starting up a pointless and unnecessary argument! What worries me about all this is that if Somaliland never gets its recognition (and is forced to rejoin Somalia) people like the author above might commit suicide in droves! Still, that's patriotism for you I suppose.
  8. ^^ Are you talking about the photo or the title of the thread? Red Sea, any more info
  9. ^^ And I've argued that all sides are using immoral methods to achieve their means. Can't we stop going in circles please? BiLaal, Things seem much clearer now. You seem less vague in your explanations though I could still see a slight conflict there. I truly believe that your desire to liberate Somalia from the Ethiopian occupation influences your judgment regarding the long term goals. I have no problem with your immediate wishes but would advice you to think a little longer about the other part of your argument. It is wishful thinking at its best, no more and no less. Again, I am only going by your words and it seems obvious to me that this occupation has blurred your views! My recommendation to you is to focus on this occupation and forget all other superfluous reasons why you want to support this Asmara group (so far, your explanations have been very flimsy and easily dismissed). How this group is going to evolve in the future is something that neither I nor you could accurately predict. In fact, we don't even have enough information to make an educated guess about their future fortunes. This is because we already know they don't have the financial, military or political (in international terms) muscle to pull this one off! Politics is a funny old game and things always change from day to day (see Aideed and the way he was for the occupation one day and is now against it). The supporters of the Asmara group (and indeed the TFG itself) could switch sides at anytime, leading to the collapse of one or the weakening of the other (considering that the TFG holds more aces at this moment in time). Therefore, I am afraid I'll have to reject your analysis about the fate of the Asmara group. Your views on my words about the average Somali made me smile (an unfortunate effect in the circumstances). Furthermore, the reading list you suggested allowed me to flash a big Colgate smile at my screen (my teeth are pearly white; I had them cleaned earlier this year when I went to Syria..but I digress..). It is possible that you misunderstood me and it's very possible (also) that you clearly understood my words but they offended you somehow! Nonetheless, I stand by them and, again, reject your unconvincing argument. To repeat the same old cliche is tedious but, with prior apology of course, I'm afraid it IS central to my argument. It has been seventeen years of war, destruction and discord, saaxib. In that time, your average Somali (myself and your good self included) has proven his uselessness and impotence. You are right in your assumption that I look down on Somalis. I do, and for good reason. Though I find your comparison to racist colonialists a tad irritating (not to mention disagree with it) I am willing to wholeheartedly accept it. I view the alternatives you present as being much worse you see! Again, it has been seventeen years, saaxib. Do you want me to ignore all that and rather act like some deranged mother of a criminal ,who whenever people pointed out his crimes, would still deny them all and shout: my son is a good boy! I brought him up with these hands of mine and he never gave me any trouble. Oh if you could only see him seventeen years ago when he was a mere infant, everyone that met him back then agreed that he was the sweetest boy ever born….. I could go on but I'll only irritate you and that's not my intention at all.
  10. Welcome back Castro. Hope that life is treating you well (other than the obvious of course). Now that the salutations are over, let us get down to business. I enjoyed reading your rousing rant there and it almost got me to punch the air with disgust (very little does these days). But then I remembered hearing many such like rants in the past (not necessarily from you). I am afraid I've grown into a cynical and thick skinned old man and such words hardly move me at all. Replace this Somali historical narrative of yours with an Islamic one. Ditch the Sayyid and adopt Al-Moctasim Bi Allah! Abandon Ahmed G. and replace him with the Ottomans! Does it all look familiar to you now? I don't aim to come across as patronising or condescending in anyway but would still assert that historical sermons such as yours are not very healthy in the circumstances. We already have our fair share of dreamers and I implore you not increase their numbers or stubbornness by reading them these bedtime stories about dead men. If it were the case that these stories will inspire them to do anything I would have applauded you for starting up their imagination and pushing them in the right direction. Alas, like the case with historical Islamic lectures, your words will only encourage them to live in the past and carry on shouting the words: traitor, turncoat and collaborator long into the night. Still, the only thing that your story proves is that nothing stays as it is forever. Things change and exploited people rise up, foolish people see the light and the oppressors (sooner or later) get their comeuppance. Ps Have you been reading my exchanges with BilaaL in the thread titled ‘Quotable Quotes’? Pps Xaaji Xiin, I’ve noticed that for the last few days you’ve been coyly prophesising the beginning of the end for all the so called collaborators, saaxib! Are you privy to some information that we don’t have? Or are you merely thinking aloud? Why in the world does the dispute in LA signal the end of these entities? How is their obvious division going to cause the defeat of the Xabash? Meyad eska hadlaysa mese waxbaad ogtahay? Do share please!
  11. You should read the thread about this same subject from two years ago (or was it a year?). It was explosive.
  12. ^^ oo ma reer balli dhiig baad aheed? samir eyo imaan, saaxib.
  13. ^^ Have faith, saaxib. Arsenal may be able to weave their magic on poorer teams and rubbish defences but they will not do it to Liverpool. Besides, their own defence is very suspect and will be exposed next Saturday. ps Van Persie is out for a month
  14. ^^ Alonso is back, mate. I perdict a score of 3-1 to Liverpool. Please come back on the 29th withdraw these words of yours.
  15. ^^ I think he's trying to say that his mother hails from that wretched place.
  16. ^^ Too cold nowadays. I think this winter will see the collapse of that place.
  17. ^^ Still sleeping on the floor? You earn thousands, woman. Buy a bed and get rid of that hippy tent of yours.
  18. Heh! That Val get so much undeserved attention. It took less than a minute to find this (I didn't even know such a thread existed. Well, I knew but forgot). ps If you have not read the Troll thread this will not make any sense to you. Oh well, since you're here (and if you happen to be male) you may as well join me in a chant of: Hubba hubba!

Anyway, I'm sure everyone here has noticed the deadly attraction and tension that exists between these two. Why else do you think I agreed to surrender her to him? ** goes away to search the forum for threads dedicated to Val **
  20. ^^ Johnny Kemp lyrics? Eedo, you're even more ancient than I am.
  21. ^^ My two sentences above are linked. Only the privileged (read: fortunate, lucky, etc) would dare utter such comments. As for worrying about children, what's the point of worrying? What will be will be! All that one can do is give it their best shot and hope that is enough. Still, your topic is not a personal one. It is one concerning an entire society. I therefore don't want to hog the thread; I'll let others furnish us with cliches about taking a village to bring up a child, etc. Carry on..
  22. The arrogance of comments such as "some people should not be allowed to be parents" is quite astonishing. Oh! These are the problems that rile the privileged I suppose.
