  1. Asalaamu Calaykum Taraweeh is 20 rak'ahs followed by 3 witr rak'ahs, not 8 or 11! Daliil: Abu Hanifah, Malik, Shafi'i and Ahmad ibn Hanbal (Allah's mercy be upon them) agree that traweeh is 20 rak'ahs followed by 3 rak'ahs of Witr. Hafiz Taqi-ad-Din Ahmad Ibn Taymiyya al-Hanbali (d. 728/1328) He has said in his Fatawa Ibn Taymiyya (vol.1, pg. 191): "It has been proven without doubt that Ubayy ibn Ka'b (Allah be pleased with him) used to lead the Companions, during Ramadan, for 20 rak'ahs and 3 rak'ahs of witr. Hence it is the principle (maslak) of most of the Ulama that this is the Sunnah, because Ubayy ibn Ka'b led 20 rak'ahs of prayer in the presence of the Muhajirin (the emigrants) and the Ansars (the helpers) and not a single Companion repudiated it!" Shaykh al-Islam Ahmad ibn Hajar al-Asqalani (d. 852/1449; R.A.) The Hafiz of Hadith, Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani has reproduced from Imam Rafi'i (Allah's mercy be on him): "For two nights the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) led twenty rak'ahs of prayer each night; on the third night the people gathered but the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) did not come out. Then the next morning, he told the people, 'It so occurred to me that it would be made obligatory for you, and you would not be able to discharge this obligation.'" After reproducing this tradition, Hafiz Ibn Hajar said: "All the traditionalists (Muhaddithin) are unanimous about the soundness of this report." (see Talkhis al-habir fi takhrij ahadith al-Rafi'i al-Kabir, vol. 1, pg. 119, by Hafiz ibn Hajar). Imam al-Azam Abu Hanifah (d. 150 AH; Rahimahullah) It was stated in Fayd ul-Bari Sharh Sahih al-Bukhari (by Shaykh Anwar Shah Kashmiri): "Imam Abu Yusuf (Rahimahullah) asked Imam Abu Hanifah (Rahimahullah), 'Did Hadrat Umar (Allah be pleased with him) have any compact from the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) for 20 rak'ahs of Taraweeh?' The Imam replied, 'Hadrat Umar was not one to invent on his own; certainly he had some proof with him for this!'" (also found in Maraqi ul-Falah, pg. 81, by Imam al-Shurunbulali and Bahr ur Ra'iq, vol.2, pg. 66, by Imam ibn Nujaim al-Misri). Imam al-Tirmidhi (d. 279/892; Rahimahullah) Imam Tirmidhi said: "Umar, Ali as well as other Companions (Allah be pleased with them all) and Sufyan al-Thauri, Ibn al-Mubarak and Imam al-Shafi'i (Allah's mercy be upon them), all believed in 20 rak'ahs of Taraweeh, and Imam Shafi'i has stated that he had seen the people of Makkah saying 20 rak'ahs (see Sunan al-Tirmidhi, vol.1, pg. 99). Wasalaam

  6. I've seem many Muslims including Somalians that are encouraging other muslims to vote this november (Ramadan). I was wondering if such act of voting for a kaafir(s) under a kaafir political system that has waged a crusade against Islam is Haraam in Islaam and if so why are so many Muslims are voting?
  7. The hold piece looks very shady to me, and these are the parts that made it look so. <Islam's Approach Towards Democracy "...in the coming phase to stand firm against totalitarian and dictatorial rule, political despotism and usurpation of people's right." Is the "coming phase" the showdown between Saddam Huseen and Bush? "A closer look at the history of the Muslim Ummah and the Islamic Movement in modern times should show clearly that the Islamic Ideology, the Islamic Movement and the Islamic Awakening have never flourished or borne fruit unless in an atmosphere of ." When did that happen?? "On the other hand, we saw the Islamic Movement and the Islamic Awakening bear fruit and flourish at the times of freedom and democracy, and in the wake of the collapse of imperial regimes that ruled people with fear and oppression. Therefore, I would not imagine that the Islamic Movement could support anything other than political " I'm confused on how he.she came to this conclusion. "However, some Islamists still have their reservations on democracy and are even wary of the word 'democracy' itself." Isn't the pillar of democracy seperation of church(religion) and state and the rule belongs to the people?? "What I wish to stress here is that Islam is not democracy and democracy is not Islam." Confused again. Isn't an ISlamic way of life what the "Islamists" want, and if so since Democracy isn't Islam why choose Democratic way of life over Islam? I'm lost!! "I would rather say that Islam is not attributed to any principle or system." What does this mean??? "Islam is unique in its means, ends and methodologies, and I do not wish that Western democracy be carried over to us with its bad ideologies and values without us adding to it from our values and ideologies in order to integrate it into our comprehensive system." This is how Muslims are tricked, if you are going to "add and integrate democracy(kaafir way of life) into your life" you suggesting one that your way of life is incomplete, inadequate and has to be completed, corrected by integrating it with nonIslamic ideologies that in the end will take over your life. "However, the tools and guaranties created by democracy are as close as can ever be to the realization of the political principles brought to this world by Islam to put a leash on the ambitions and whims of rulers. These principles are : shura , nasihah (advice), enjoining the good and forbidding the evil disobeying illegal orders, resisting unbelief and changing wrong by force when possible. It is only in democracy and political freedom that the power of parliament is evident that people's deputies can withdraw confidence from any government that breaches the constitution. It is also only in such an environment that the strength of free press , free parliament, opposition and the masses is most felt." "Democracy the kaafir that draws its power from man "parliament" " "The fears of some people here that democracy makes the people a source of power and even legislation (although legislation is Allah's alone) should not be heeded, because we are supposed to be speaking of a population that is Muslim in its majority and has accepted Allah as its Lord, Muhammad as its Prophet and Islam as its Deen. Such a people would not be expected to pass a legislation that contradicts Islam and the incontestable principles and conclusive rules of Islam." Quran and Sunnah are the only sources of legislation. It doesn't matter if the muslims are the majority or the minority. "In any case, these fears can be overcome by one article stipulating that any legislation contradicting the incontestable provisions of Islam shall be null and void because Islam is the religion of the State and the source of legitimacy of all its institutions and therefore may not be contradicted, as a branch may not run against the main origin." Democracy contradicts ISlam since it draws it power, legislation etc form man and should be null. "It should be known that the acceptance of the principle that legislation of rule belong to Allah does not take away from the Ummah its right to seek for itself the codes necessary to regulate its ever changing life and worldly affairs." Subhaana laah "seek the codes.." Allah has sent Muhammed SAW the Quran and the Sunnah what other codes are there besides what Allah has already sent?? "What we seek is that legislations and codes be within the limits of the flawless texts and the overall objectives of the Shari'ah and the Islamic Message. The binding texts are very few, while the area of 'permissibility' or legislative-free space is quite wide and the texts themselves are so flexible and capacious as to accommodate more than one understanding and accept more than one interpretation. This leads to the existence of several schools and philosophies within the expansive framework of Islam. " To me this another article that is intended to misguide Muslims. Walaahu Aclam.

  9. "I want a post a question for the nomads here, because we are the young and the intelectually gifted that this country of ours has to offer.why do we want to side with arabs agains the western countries.." Because we (Somalians) share a religion and a culture with the Arabs therefore we consider them and us the same, and while west and its agents keap the Arabs in bondage we extend the only help we can give to them...moral support. "...when infact it's the western countries, the u.s.in particular that helped us when we were starving." This is not entirely true the major things that the west have provided to Somalia in "operation store hope" were soldiers, guns and stole a lot of of our natural resources. It was western soldiers that have watched our Somali brothers burn over fires like pigs, raped our sisters then sodomised them (drove objects into their privates )...and so on and so on. No Arab or Muslim soldier commited these crimes against us. Do you know how many Somalians those western countries have killed????????????????????????????????????????? "when infact no arab country would take us in it was the western countries that extended out the  ir hand to us.and the arab countries woud deport you from their country, saudi in particular." How many Somali janaalayaal have you known that have built houses, businesses etc in Somalia...have you ever wondered why you can't seem to make ends meet in the west? "don't misunderstand me i love islam, ofcourse i don't want to see anyone wronged." WHy don't you support the wronged then as all of us do, since you don't want to see them being wronged? "we are religion blinded,so it kills me to see all this love for arabs." I don't get this! Does having a love for Muslims kill you or the fact that we value our religion? "i don't hate anyone don't minsunderstand me, but it's about time we got our priorities straight." You fooled me "we need to support the u.s." In doing what? Supporting Saddam in providing him with weapons, experties and money to fight against Iran and calling our greatest "ally" and now one of the axis of "evil". Wasn't Alqaeda the product of the CIA? "...and we don't need to hate isreal cause." We don't hate ISreal we HATE what it stands for killings, racism, home demolitions, humuliations, check points, curfews, farm destructions, settlers, terorism ...and all is eveil etc, etc. "isreal was the first country to vote for somalia to be independant, at the u.n. when libya refused to do so in 1960." Didn't western countries/colonialism destroy the ISlamic state in 1940s or 1920s and if so wouldn't Israel's suppport on a new "Islamic/Arab" country make more division among its adversaries. Israel never had love for Somalia. "i say we need to get our priorities straight." All the rest of us seem to have ours "straight" it is time you should do the same. "so please this is not our battle,we have our country that needs work." This is the "Willy Lynch" of Muslim countries. Divide them, make them fight amongst each other so they won't stand in your way when you are killing them one by one. Please refer below on how the West have "helped" http://www.media-awareness.ca/eng/med/class/teamedia/peace/part4/p4_4.htm ideas are welcome THIS MAKES ME WANNA HURT SOMEBODY  http://www.texemarrs.com/101997/UNHELL.HTM

  11. Is it me or universities/collges were designed for education not "hanging out"? I think most Somalis are too cool to hang around with other Somalis. You wouldn't want any Somali to find out that you were throwing up at last Saturday night's party, or that you spent a whole afternoon at the Science meuseam. All jokes aside most of the Somalis that O had the pleasure of going to school with had bussy schedule/lives and couldn't hang out with me during my lunch or any other time. Communication among us will clear out any misconceptions that we have of each other. Remember that most Somalis are shy including myself.

  13. Fraternities and sororities trace their origins to Freemasonry, and if you don't already know the goal of masons is to destroy ISlam. As a muslim you are not allowed to give legience to no one other then Allah and no one is your brother or sister other then your Muslim brothers and sisters. The fraternal rituals and sorority rituals are a forms of worship.

And what is the total of those that wasted their sixteen years of educatio by becaming house wifes?
  21. I don't like the part about "starving militia". The so called scholars should work to over throw their "leaders" and establish a justand true Islamic leadership that seaks the ineterest of its people. Saudi gave the green for US to use its bases to attack Iraq. Iraqi president Sadam was never and still not an ISlamic leader, so why are muslims concerned if he should stay in power or not? The way I see it, the US and Britian benefit from him being in power, since they "protect" Kuwait, Saudi arabia, and the rest of *&^%$# Arab countries from an evil of axis leader. Muslims shouldn't be naive to fall for the west's trickminolgy against the muslim world. Take out Sadam and and take out King Jordan jr who stood idle while Bush jr insulted Islam, then the "royal " family , and so on and on.

(Constractive criticism is not all bad) When you belittle me to make yourself look good at my expense I feel embarrassed, but powerless to strike back. Think about how you feel when you hear others tongue-lash their partners in public. Aren't you uncomfortable, Astagh Ferrullah? Please save your negative remarks until when we're alone. I'll be better able to hear you then without defensiveness, Insha-Allah. (This is verbal abuse, mar baan arkay nin ay naagtiisa aroos dhexdiisa kab kula dhacaysay. "Walaaleey kabta iga daa" kaliyaa ka soo yeertay) When we see things differently, please do not devalue my perception. Recognize that one of us does not have to be right while the other is wrong. Neither do we have to struggle until we come to an agreement. When we do that I tend to give in, but I may resent you later. Join with me in trying to say cheerfully, "We just see it differently!" (It is no longer love when you agree on everything...I'm almost always right) If I'm upset and cry or loose control of my emotions allow me those feelings, Insha-Allah. Try to get over your discomfort with them, Insha-Allah. They are mine and I will get over them if you allow me time to do so, Insha-Allah. Alhamdulillah, I suffer less when I feel free to let them run their natural course, than if I feel pressured to suppress them so you will not be displeased. ( how about if I get upset and cry with you) Recognize that I am sensitive to the fact that your involvement in the world earns you more status and recognition than I get. Insha-Allah I will feel less envy and more pride if you were more mindful that my efforts to free you, from the domestic cares, have enabled you to devote yourself more freely to your lifes work. I like it when you acknowledge publicly that I deserve credit too! (How about we elevate our status in here and the hereafter) When I strive for achievements beyond our home, I need your encouragement to grow, Insha-Allah. You can reassure me by supporting my freedom, even if it means less time to spend on the things that make your life comfortable and by showing your delight even when my successes overshadow yours. ( I see you more then humanity gives credit for you...as an equal in front of Allah.." Maa qalaqtul....") I need QUALITY time with you, Insha-Allah!!! ( Can you handle the QUALITY time) I know your job is demanding, but if you give the best of your energy and all your patience to a job there is little left for me when we're together. Please make an effort to plan time for just us, Insha-Allah. Especially when we are at home, hours when the telephone does not ring or when your not trying to wind down after a hard day, Insha-Allah. ( Honey, where is the remote??) Please don't belittle me, I may stumble as I gain skills in many of the things I learn to do. Insha-Allah, I will learn faster if you let me make my mistakes without telling me how stupid I am or how much better you would have done it. Most of the things you do will be forgotten in a few years anyway, but my confidence will recover more slowly. ( Ok) If you can not allow me to fail you are not letting me learn to succeed. ( As long as you put in 100% you are far from a failure even if you don't get your desired results) Please don't give me mixed messages about my sexuality, Insha-Allah. I am more uncertain about it than you are. Alhamdulillah, I have been raised to believe that men will not respect me if I were openly sexy. Astagh Ferrullah, I get confused when I see you attracted to seductive women, yet critical of me if I seem provacative at home when we're alone. Please trust me and be open with me about sex. Insha-Allah, your caring example will help me overcome my reluctances to do the same. ( No comment) Please don't pass the ball, and then find fault with me in the way I field it. Criticism coming from you, who are so important to me, washes away my self esteem and leaves me feeling I can't do anything well, that I can do NOTHING well, Astagh Ferrullah. Insha-Allah, you'll see how much more self-confident and productive I am when we both recognize my right to do my task, my way! If I am rushed and distracted, try not to interpret my actions as rejection or lack of caring. At times, there are pressures that I don't welcome either. When you put other priorities ahead of me, I try to tell myself you have a reason to do so, and that it doesn't mean you don't care for me. Two adults don't need constant reasurrance of each others committment and devotion. Be careful to say what you mean! I love you for the sake of Allah (SWT), so please always remember and trust in Him. Please follow His commandments and do the best that you can do, to be the best Muslim that you can be and I will always love you for the sake of Allah (SWT), Insha-Allah. (Very good ) Fi AmaaN ALLAH I don't have rules that I follow when it comes to the heart. Respect, and consideration can go a looooooong way in any relationship!
