  1. Kismaayo has transformed from even a year and half ago! It has become a new metropolis worthy of the name, and one that has investments staked with blood. Xash lilaah. Horn, I'll hold you to your statement. Of the time frame, the year and half, that you speak of kismayu has chronically being unstable. If memory serves me right,it was this past summer that the concept of "ISBAARO" was introduced to the city for the first time.In the same period, the heavyweights waged armed conflicts amongst each other which resulted the closure of the port.None of the above were familiar scenes in the "1990s". According to the IDP and SOMALIA WATCH, the present kismayo is less diverse. In the past, a certain group constituted the local adminstration and they maintained a city that housed all(or many). Now a days, a certain group runs a city that houses certain groups.IT AINT METRO...... Transformed, the city has. How ? economically: downgraded stability: downgraded
  2. Muhammad Cadaan, Mad props to you and your website. As for Columbus, the city has been great to us lot that live here.We regret if we've disappointed folks from fancier cities.Give us heads-up next time around, and we'll make your stay enjoyable. for the record,Columbus is the antithesis of the silly remarks that were made toward it.And we'll be sure not to get agitated by the words of few despaired nomads.
  3. I am not familiar with any of his work. But I gather, from your brief description, that he is alluding to the fact that many have succeeded in making millions without having gone through proper higher education.
  4. I cant say what it was, but they were just captured at columbus motel.
  5. We love it down here in Columbus......
  6. Let me acho what many have said... Warlords continue to exploit the country and its people because we,THE PEOPLE,empower them. We've become a nation that venerates anarchism, and continue to exacerbate the welfare of the Mali-kind. The fate of Somalia solely depends on how the people choose to change this current course. The Somali folks can lead, and should lead.

    -Your Last Bullet-

That bullet is designated for the next knuclehead to take my parking spot.... Lexus, I thought the song was particularly very sweet. At a time when women in the black women community are not known their womanly attributes, its only appropriate for the Destiny ladies to outlet a positive message. It's not disgusting by any measure,if anything it assures the black men of the strenght of the black women;how much they are willing to give inspite of the hardships. One of the best things men do well is to react to emotion and reciprocate in a different form. And any woman that can put all those words into practice will be forever rewarded with passion, service and all that good stuff. It's amiss to suggest that by catering to a loved one, one diminishes their dignity and independence. Some of the most independent women,Hilary Clinton and Cookie Johnson, continue to cater to their men after having been ashamed by their men.
  8. Many dissolve away after having gone trough half as much as what Morgan went through, interms of defeats, but yet he he shrewdly manages to ressurect and manipulate situations in his favour. MILK, I am not sure if AY will be the greatest Somali politician,am not even sure if he is politician, but it'll suffice if he goes down as the post-war de facto president.
  9. I would have to say "Gaduudow", columbus resident.
  10. Jumatatu, On what basis would high profile MP,housed in a nice cozy Nairobi hotel, with a salary of $6000/yr,seek asylum in a Europian country? I guarantee you he would've been on a special flight back to his hometown.... Secondly, with so much rift between the parliament and the PM,its only fair to assume that the PM would not delegate with MPs of opposing camp who might embarrass him on international stage. It would've been talk of the town and beyond a post,if this had even little truth to it.
  11. If I may dutch in,the entire misgiving can be reduced to: Problem : Patriarchal society(male dominance) Vs Somali women entuned to Oprah. Solution: re-structure and re-prioritize family values.Encourage male commitment in the household and develop congenial enviroment. Hibo, Opinion : Such organisation might help provide general guidance in family affairs, but doubt if it would actually provide answers to specific marital problems.
  12. just spell of pessimism; I could not fancy that day, with SL breaking away and rest of us being anti-establishment.
  13. Jumatatu, As per constitution, who is it that reserves the authority to nominate the police chief ?
  14. I thought for a min that was Islamabad ! I like the pics.........must I also add that I am recovering anti-Somaliland,and thru the threads I have come to re-construct my view of SL and it secession. Sl has done everything to further itself. Rest ,on the other hand, have succeeded to even further plunge ourselves into dire staits. Now,besides all the politiking........The question becomes who are we(in status quo) to hinder someone else's right to better existence ? I ,for one,not at liberty to badmouth SL(any longer). BTW, I was wondering if DR. Samatar ,of Univ of minnesota ,is from Borame? BOQOR, a cardinal rule - U are on your own, watch your back.
  15. Haddad, Is some order better than no order ?
  16. I consider myself a full blown NEGRO,thus african. We identify with the Arabs and their culture through the Islamic faith, and hence has had tremendous influence on us to the point where some Malis consider themselves Arabs. In my estimation,Somalia joined the Arab league purely for financial gains, and doubt if it had anything to do with being Arabs.
  17. Same good old inter-mj "putting-down-other-folks" shenanigan. And we wonder why we pissed other folks that would otherwise be ourside. Its irrelevent who does what sort of business in what part of that region. If I were to be of the opinion that reer mudug serves reer bari better and more, then i would be belittling reer bari. And I dare not! I am what my brother is, and I am what my people are. The original thread was dedicated to honoring the new suldan and should only serve that sole purpose.
  18. Abaadir, a quick question(and only for him)..................be Gedo as it may be ,why make all those comparisons, interms of commerce n numbers, with Puntland ? The author of the original piece is not from Punt..... if that had any bearing on your judgement. Baashi, why did we leave out Riyaale and his gang?
  19. shirwac, no shame in not knowing what it is.Below is a quick reference for you........ http://www.suldanhurre.org/14March2005HghCourtOutcome.htm You could also visit the official site of the organization @ www.suldanhurre.org

    Columbus Ohio?

Farah, It is nice lil place, we like it down here.I have been a herdsman for most of my life and have no business in bigger city. Columbus suits most of us nomads just fine. Xaliimo oo magaalada ku kala barta in laguu raadiyo weeyaan.Kuluco bal aan raadiyo........
