  1. Lately there were a lot of geopolitical issues taking shape in the region and the middle east, yet we Somalis were looking everything uniformly without judging every case with its merits. We do not like what Mohammed Bin Salmaan is doing, yet we do not want the collapse the SAudi Arabia or the " Fitna" to reach Makah and Medinah. Also, we must differentiate the people and the government. The same case must be applied with Egypt too. The Tigrat regime is trying to ride the Turkish to it's advantage and use against Egypt and others. The Turks know that they saved Somalia from the mayhem caused by the Ethiopian policy of fragmentation. Finally, If Farmaajo ever flies to Addis and begs for security help, we will do whatever it takes and will make sure he leaves office before his term. Waa digniin .
  2. Mooge, Yes, he is all over the place, but the man is really tough. This man shows confidence and capability. Ninkan Khayre Sidii uu Kacaanku ahaa todobaatanadii ayuu u hadlayaa. Waa nin kalsooni badani ka muuqato If he stays with message and avoids bad moves that creates confrontation, Prime minister Khayre will finish his term. As I said many months ago, by far he is much stronger than all the prime ministers we have seen for the last 40 years. Also, everyone including the " Unaka" led by Cali Geedi, the MOgadishu governor and H/G, want his job. Neither of these guys are better than Khatre. If he keeps the EThiopian troops out of the country, avoids the "Qalbi Dhagax" type issues, and stays with message , we will support Mr. Khayre.
  3. My biggest take on the budget is Somalia is headed to the road of responsible and accountable government. Government budget has been debated within every level of government including the parliament. Parliament committees were present during the deliberation of the budget. Transparency and open budget is what responsible and accountable governments do. The only thing I want to see the budget allocations which also show the government priority. When I compare this to the almost 30 years old government of Somaliland, It really shows the difference between a tribal enclave and accountable government. For seven years, there were not one single deliberation or debate inside the parliament in Somaliland regarding any budget. For seven years, not one single item of the budget was reversed or changed. Usually the Hargeisa west faction of the " Jeegaan" allocates the budget as they wish. Sometimes, the the Siilaanyo palace used to get almost 10% of the budget. The palace has more money than water ministry, transport or the nearest six ministeries. It is the theft of public money through the finance minister. I hope the Jeegaan tribe in Hargeisa would learn something from the Somali government budget .
  4. If Egypt is targeting Sudan it has a long border between them, and it does not need Eritrean border. I think Egypt is planning to target the Wayaane Dam. Couple of F-16 from eritrean base will do the jbb and Ethiopia can not retaliate against Egypt. Egyptian air force is one of the best in Africa and middle east. The Nile is the life of the Egyptian people and these huge dams in Ethiopia will eventually affect the lives of millions of people. If C/Fataax Al-Sisi want to help his country , now is the time to destroy that dam. What could Ethiopia do?. Poor Eritrea is not the manipulated and fragmented Somalis. In 1998-2000, a hundreds of thousands of Ethiopian forces tried to invade and finish off Eritrea, but were defeated. That battle was fought like the trenches of the first world war. Ethiopia lost more than 80,000 soldiers, and at the end they occupied only few districts. Thousands of Oromo and others surrendered. Since that tough lesson Ethiopia never tried to invade Eritrea. Imagine a poor country of four million, yet determined to stand tough. Even the Ethiopian media accuses every little political issue to the " Jabha Sha'biya" of Eritrea. Egypt will be backed by the USA, and Saudi Arabia. Yemenis, Djiboutian and others will watch as the war unfolds. Sudan or TUrkey will not interfere a war between Ethiopia and Egypt. Somali government will only call for peace and dialogue, but we the Somali people , will stand with Egyptian people and their efforts to keep the Nile following. WE hate Sisi but we care a lot about the people of " Masar Umu Dunya". They were on our side during tough times, especially during the Somali independence, and their educational outreach through the Somali territory. Who knows , if SISI is smart, he might hasten the collapse of the Tigray regime. If war breaks, No Oromo, AFar, Somali or others would be willing to die a war to save the Wayane regime and it's Dam. Guys, we do not like the UAE, yet with Egypt, if they bomb the Wayaane regime, I will take the Egyptian side. inkastoon sabool ahayHadana waan sariigtaasacabada ma hoorsadoSaaxiib nimaan nahayCadaygeyga lama simoSOOMAALI BAAN AHAY Gardarada ma Saacido Ni Xaqlana cidi lama simo Nabaddaan u sahanshaaColaaddan ka selelaaSooma jeesto goobahaNinka nabarka soo sidoGacantiisa kama sugoSOOMAALI BAAN AHAY WAxay u eegtahay in masiibadii iyo dhibkii uu inaga wareegayo. 5. The shuffle is necessitated by the Mogadishu issues. Farmaajo needs someone from the H/G community to help him quell the grievances created by the raid of Cabdi Qaybdiid. Despite his connection , Yusuf Garaad is busy with the international issues. I heard the new interior minister to be a local and connected businessman who might concentrate his efforts both in Mogadishu and central regions. I think Yusuf Garaad has a done a lot in short eight months. Among his biggest achievements are : The release of hundred of Somalis from Jails in Ethiopia, India and seychelles; He enmanced the Turkey alliance with the president and treaded carefully on the issues of the gulf , Ethiopia, and Kenya. If Yusuf Garaad , who spend decades in the international media, foreign capitals and the region is not qualified to be a diplomat , I don't know who else could fill that job. Besides, the old diplomatic service of Somalia are old and retired . WE need the young generation to take the center stage. In all ,This move by Khayre is welcome. The upside in this shuffle are two. First, the men who held some of the most important portafolio in the country, namely the interior ministry responsible for internal order, and the chief foreign diplomat should have been allowed to exit gracefully , and at least 48 hours of notice should have been given before they were replaced. Prime minister Khayre must remember that these are not his office employees. Second, I have noticed an ugly replacement of the same tribe to the one fired. Many of us became familiar in Somaliland where cousins rotate or replace after one if fired. Interior minister Cabdi F. Juxa is from Puntland, and especially from Garoowe. He is replaced by another guy from Garoowe which means that ministry is belonged by Faroole clan. He has the choice of selecting anyone from Puntland , yet that is how it is played. Finally, Both Garaad and Juxa had written a very respectful statement and wished everyone a good luck
  6. Iran needs to do some reforms at the end, yet their political system is more open than Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the gulf. Oh my, if this is the best Trump and company could hope in Iran, they already lost the game. Of course there are economic issues, but these kind of protests would not shake Iran. Thousands of Iranian expatriates are probably dispatched from California to stir the pot and agitate. America has empowered Iran the day they invaded Iraq,. Everything else is the saber rattling of confused policy. When the foreign policy of the great USA is led by neocons and narcist leaders like Trump , expect disaster. The middle east does not need another war, and Iran will weather this storm.
  7. Waar Tigreegan aad nagu soo dayseen propagabdhadiisa maxaan ka yeelaa. For the last time stop your Tigray propaganda in this Somali forum. Siyaad Barre and Mengistu never met after the war, and WSLF was not disbanded because of Tigray or any thing you guys have done. WSLF was ordered to halt it's attacks because Siyaad Barre wanted to cripple the support Mengistu gave to Somali tribal groups, especially SNM and SSDF. The agreement did happen in Djibouti after Siyaad Barre joined other IGAD members. The main issue was to stop the rebels from launching their attacks from Ethiopia. As soon as that happen, in May 1988, SNM left Ethiopia and started it's war inside SOmalia. The so called TPLF was nothing in the eighties. THe biggest and toughest army was the EPLF of Eritrea. There were never any agreement between ONLF and Meles. He played games in the early years while he was consolidating power, and as soon as he was in full control he crashed ONLF and others. THe TPLF has murdered not only ONLF members but killed their families , burned their towns and annihilated them systematically. Just like Natenyahu delivering his love to the Iraninans, the Wayaane are sending flowers to their victims. Give me a break. The Somalis were waging war in EThiopia before any of you guys took the gun. The Oromo National Liberation and ONLF could not do much because there were no bases to launch the war. If like minded Somalis come to power in Somalia, liberation movements could be launched in minutes , and just like Ethiopia took the war inside Somalia, we would take the war in side that huge land and the Wayaane and company could be defeated easily. Ethiopia was formed by the barrel of the gun and independent movements of Oromo and Somalis need a gun to get back their freedom, if Wayaane refuses to give power back to the people. 27 years of oppression is enough. The Somali region was under emergency rule since 1991. No trade between Somalis are allowed. You could not even bring an extra shirt in your bag without been taken away. It is a war zone as we speak. The Somali region were never allowed to have paramilitary or police. This strategy of arming Somalis were implemented in 2009, to contract out the killing and the oppression, but also to use the Liyu police to raid Somali proper and the puppet regional governments they themselves created. We have seen leaders from Hargeisa, Garoowe and Gakmudug go to Jijiga to resolve border issues. Illey became the de facto leader. You are correct on the idea of the Wayaane eventually separating from Ethiopia, because , in plural Ethiopia, led by Ahmara or Oromo ,were the size of population will translate power , the Tigray would be better of joining their cousins in Eritrea. Even the more sinister issue is that the Wayaane want to destroy the Liyu police and the Somali paramilitary before the total collapse of Ethiopia, or the separation of the ethnic nations. One way to destroy the Somali paramilitary force will be to pit them Against the Oromo. I hope Illey and others would understand. The Somali region is much bigger and more important than the landlocked Tigray province. We Somalis should play bigger role and sit down with other players like Oromo and Amhara. That can happen if we get a good leader like Lemma Magrasa of the Oromia who is fighting for his people. The Wayaane -Somali alliance is a false and opportunistic ploy to use and crash the Oromo with the Liyu police and in return create a murder mayhem that we haven't seen for decades. The Wayaane are not pushing Amhara to stop the Oromo, yet heir all efforts are targeted to use the Somalis. Somalis, like any other ethnic group should mind their own business and should not agitate whether Oromo or Amhara takes power. THeir primary concern should be to be able to protect their land and people , and should not target politically to hinder the aspirations of others whether they are Oromo, Amhara or Afar. The change of government and the huge demonstrations are taking place in Oromia, Amhara and Addis. Somehow the Wayaane want to dispatch that issue in our region. By the way the J.W community are some of the finest Somalis both in Jijiga area and JUbb land countryside. THey are not among those who openly say , " Haddanu reer hebel nahay' laakiin inkaar qabahan Illey ayaa dadkii wada kiciyey. Jubbada , Af madow ka billow illaa iyo Bu'ale ayey degaan. Wax badan ka ma yara Ahmed Madoobe iyo reerkiisa. Hase Ahaatee halka uu shan wasiir iyo shan ku xigeen ka qaatay, hal buu u tuuray. Maamulada Soomaalidu waxay noqdeen meelo Soomaalida wanaagsan lagu dulmo. In th end we Somalis must stop the bloodshed among the brothers.
  8. Listen Wayaane Boy, How dare you tell us what is good for us. You and your WAyaane buddies have murdered our people in Mogadishu, Gedo, Bay, Hiiraan and between. After Somalis finally woke up to your plots, you switched planns by using Cabdi Illey to murder us in Gaashaamo, Mudug, Gedo and Harowo. Just as the Wayaane planned , they isolated the Somali region with oppression and tyranny which the world have even seen. In 2017, no place in this earth was worse than Somali Zone. If a nursing mother brings a small can of powder milk and travels with a bus, the evil Wayaane controlled LIyu police will open and put their hands in the powder and the innocent mother will just throw away. This men might have been picked from the street , and probably never raised by mothers when you see how they treat Somali mothers. In every region of EThiopia , their leaders represent the well being of the people except the Tigray lab dog Illey. In order for the WAyaane to survive few more months, they created a civil war among brothers. Illey will tell you that his friends are Tigray, but we Somalis know who our enemies are. We have no business of cozying up backward and ruthless Tigray highlanders who have no business in Oromo or Somali countryside. We are with the Oromo people and their aspiration. While the Somali man was destroyed through tyranny and tribal loyalty, the ORomo are nationalist and their aspirations are higher than Somalis today. THey are what we were in 1960, The Oromo are our brothers and they have always been our neighbors regardless of what problem we might have. They are Ali, omar, and Yusuf , and we should never fight them. We Somalis in the diaspora must organize and meet our Oromo brothers whether they are in MInnesota, LOndon, Washington, Toronto or Alberta. WE must unite for the enemies of our people the Wayaane led EThiopian system. THis Tigray highlanders are just four million people or less than 5% of the Ethiopian population. THey do not have the population strength, the education or bureaucratic knowledge to run Ethiopia other than the gun. Their time is over soon, and we should not be the victims of their evil plans. Mr. Wayaane, if you think these Somalis in this forum will buy your half truths and Wayaane propaganda, you are mistaken. THey might have tribal sympathy to their regions or towns, but deep down they care about their country and well being than you might think. ESpecially those in diaspora. In one of my threads you posted total lies and misinformation by equating Eritrea with Somaliland. The Wayaane and the Amhara were the ones who served the European colonies in the nineteenth and twentieth century. in 1950, the United Nation, had made Eritrea to be under the trusteeship of emperor Haile Selassie who was a colonial lab dog, and they have been fighting since for fifty years. Southern Somalia were given for the Italiaans to administer the land until independence in 1960. the Italians were only able to subdue and control Southern regions as late as 1926, and by 1941, they were defeated by the British. After 1941, all the Somali speaking regions from Wajeer to Jijiga were controlled by the British.Until the UN transfer Somalis mingled from South to NOrth and the land between, Even the SYL was in JIjiga and Diredawa. When the British left HArgeisa, the flag that was raised was the blue flag with the white star, not a flag of another country. The union of the regions who were not physically separated, was not in June 1960, but in April 30, 1960. ONly those with sinister agenda will speak of different Somalia. There was none. The people in GAroowe, Boosaaso or even Gaashaamo never crossed a border when they traveled to TAleex or Ceergaabo. Our camels and livestock has grassed without borders. In fact the colonials were just administrating few towns, while the somali countryside was one. You have the nerve to push the disintegration of Somalia after what have you done in our republic. Only fools like you would think that the forged history of Wikipedia is the truth. Eritrea might have something in common with Tigray, but they have nothing to do with the Oromo or Somalis. We do not give a damn if Eritrea joins or stays independent. I am not even preoccupied by Somaliland who will join the republic as soon as things were sorted out in MOgadishu. WE can not let go our " Somali Galbeed" who you referred as Zone five and Cabdi Illey and company called Ogadenia. It has been given to the king without our permission, and our property must be either with us or depart legally. We want our land back and will not rest until we gain. Neither CAli Geedi nor Muuse Biixi will help you to disintegrate Somalia. Of course C/laahi Yusuf was pinned down in MOgadishu , but that does not mean he will let the land go the land. THis Wayaane run entity of Ethiopia is doomed. It must either become a plural democracy of multi ethnic and religion society based on rule of law and majority rule or must disintegrate like former Yugoslavia. The third option of keeping the status quo and pitting people against one another is over. The Wayaane game of pitting Oromo and Somali brothers is over. Soon we will depose your lap dog Illey, and the next leader must work hard to rebuild the harmony again. The new map of Ethiopia will be different soon, The Somalis will join the republic, the Oromo will have their country, so does the Afar, Mashenguli and others. I do not care if the Amhara joins the Tigray or the Tigray joins Eritrea. These people must be expelled from Jijiga, Dirdawa, Hawaas, and Oromo country side. Here in September 2016, Illey attacks Oromo and Amhara who were demonstrating against the Wayaane. He said these gathering are illegal. No other regional leader came out Then , at the same month he send millions to Tigray capital. Somali State civil cociety delegation arrived in Mekelle the capital city of Tigrai State to show their support and extend a helping hand to the Tigraian civilians deported from some Amhara region towns and cities. The delegation from Somali State presented the Tigrai emergency coordinating committee 10 million Birr to help the recently uprooted innocent Tigraians from Amhara region. The Somali State delegation traveled all the way to the city of Mekelle to show their solidarity with the people of Tigrai and to express their profound support to the displaced women, children, farmers, brassiness people, government workers, civil servants, professors, and other professionals. These people were forced to leave their houses and entire livelihood in their own country just because they were Tigraians. We are grateful to the Somali State people and government for their generosity and brave stand at this critical point of our people. The Somali delegation didn’t come to just deliver the financial support, that could have been done in much easier and faster ways. There is much crucial message to the people of Tigrai, to the perpetrators of the ethnic cleansing, and the rest of Ethiopia they wanted to send and it is very clear to all of us. Thank you! Somalis were starving, yet Cabdi Illey sent 10 million Bir to Wayaane people who left Amhara area. No wonder , we became the target. With friends like the Wayaane , you will get more enemies than you think.
  9. Rather than curb Qat and other drugs, Hargeisa has started a campaign for hair cut. Before they take police actions against the citizens, they should legislate in the parliament or enact specific by law regarding what kind of hair the Somaliland youth should have. THey should put huge billboards in the middle of the city showing the new Hargeisa hair cut. This people want to oppress the youth . They afraid that these youth might demand jobs, and they know that they could not offer anything. Waxa la damacsan yahay in la cabudhiyo oo la cadaadiyo si aanay uga mudaharaadin shaqa la'aanta. Is this place becoming the land of Taliban and backward society. THese people are getting crazy by the hour.
  10. Trump and Kushner are isolating Saudi Arabia . If this crown prince does not change his direction, he could destroy the kingdom.
  11. C/laahi Yusuf has made mistakes in his early years, yet while he used the Ethiopian army to defeat the Islamic courts, he knew the Ethiopian plans more than others. As soon as President Yusuf took over MOgadishu, the EThiopian government immediately started to undermine his efforts to build Somali army and dismantle the opposition. A man familiar with Yusuf C/laahi told me in 2007, that he had power and prestige while he was in Baidoa or when he was in his way to Mogadishu, but as soon as he took over the capital , the Ethiopians opposed his plans immediately and begun to weaken him. No we all know the main reasons behind the Meles plan. C/laahi Yusuf Puntland ayuu hagaajistay, laakiin fikirkii sare ee ah in Qaranka la soo celiyo kama uu tegin oo waa kii markiiba u gudbay hawshii sare. Taariikhdu sidoo kale waxay sheegaysaa Adeerkay Daahir Rayaale in uu rabay in uu Soomaali wiiqo.
  12. I saw these thread but forget somehow to open and read it. We thank Mr. Deeq for bringing to us these articles from the region. First of all, this so called natural gas wells are located in Somali Galbeed. In 2007, the EThiopian government had tried to establish a project to mine the gas but had abandoned after the Chinese workers were abducted and KIlled by the ONLF. IT was never accepted by the locals and the profits were supposed to enrich only the TPLF crooks. Then the Chinese left for good. Meles never gave up and after Siilaanyo come to power he took with him to China and told the Chinese that the pipeline for the liquified natural gas will travel from Somali Zone to Berbera. The Chinese listened but did not take any action. In 2012, when Somalia left the transition period to Federal government , the Chinese realized that without the Somali government , all these projects are just a future plans that depends on the stability of the region. Also, with the ethnic issue of Ethiopia flaring up , we should not allow anything that gives oil and gas revenue to the TPLF regime. Even now, this project is many years way, and there will be no shovels in the ground for years to come. On the other hand , those of you who visits Djibouti might feel better when you compare to other Somali regions, but not much has changed in many years. It is the most expensive island in the world, and $1000 dollars will not be enough for a middle class family. State controlled electricity costs between 300-$400 for family, and water is scarce. Geelle is renting the whole country for foreign military. America alone pays up $70 million a year, add that to the CHinese, Spanish, German, French and the Japanese. THat alone is up half a billion. This country is getting rich on the so called war on terror and the instability of Somalia. Unemployment is 60%, and no economic activity can take place without the permission of his wife. The people of Djibouti really hate the wife because of her strong tactics of extortions from businesses. Muuse Biixi people were also looting Djibouti for many years. All the projects that has been built in Hargeisa is financed by Djibouti banks, Some eve take the money and run away, including the chairman of the Coca-Cola plant that cost over $20 million dollars. The Geele Family are partners on the the Coca-Cola plant that cost 20 million dollars while partnering with a man by the name of Ahmed Geelle Arab. This man who owes the plant and other major buildings and Hotels in Hargeisa , Ahmed Geele Arab, left Djibouti in the middle of the night and came to Hargeisa. Geelle issues an arrest warrant , but the hargeisa elders are trying to resolve the issue. People said that he defrauded money from Geelle family and transferred his wealth to Dubai and Hargeisa. In a sense Djibouti is a family Business. Sometimes people think that by keeping the people poor and destitute, they might not be able to challenge his dictatorship which will be twenty years old in 2018. It is a city state with over $600 million budget , yet there is no cheap water or affordable electricity in a city where the temperature hits 45 degree celsius. I do not buy this deal. First you must extract the gas, build the pipeline and then sell to Djibouti.
  13. Well, many Somali tribes who thought that by forming a tribal enclave will amount to finding gold in the Somali civil war were mistaken. There strange thing was as many of us were traveling through Addis to reach the home land , they treated us like kings. They wanted our money , and our country as the same time. Since We are still alive, we must dig ourselves out of our own grave.
  14. This article was poster in September, 2008. According to a source with intimate knowledge about the affairs of the hilltop palace of Meles Zenawi, the prime minister of Ethiopia, who is not willing to be quoted due to the sensitivity of the issue, Meles has commissioned a committee of Somali specialists early this year to come up with a strategic analysis and a menu of options with respect to Ethiopian national interest towards Somalia. The committee chaired by Ethiopia´s foremost expert on Somalia, Dr. Alemu Tekede, minister of state for foreign affairs, comprised senior officials of the ruling EPRDF, several military generals and security and intelligence officers. According to the source, after five long months of deliberations, the committee submitted to Meles a well-thought-out \"red\" dossier containing confidential policy proposals in last August. The committee of experts persuasively argued that the reconstitution of Somalia to its pre-1991 status would not serve the national interest of Ethiopia. Furthermore, the committee emphasized the possibility of landlocked Ethiopia becoming \"sandwiched\" between two hostile countries, i.e. Eritrea in the north and Somalia in the south, underlining Ethiopia´s vulnerability to gruesome civil-war and disintegration if the current Ethiopian efforts in Somalia fail and the country fall back to the hand of ousted Islamic forces. The committee further emphasized the possibility of Ethiopian Muslims becoming influenced or radicalized by Somalia´s Islamists which could ultimately ignite a devastating religious war in the country. The committee recommended the following propositions: 1 A two-state solution for Somalia along the pre-independence colonial boundaries. The committee suggested the Ethiopian government play a lead role in advocating for the international recognition of the breakaway republic of Somaliland. 2 Southern Somalia (former Italian Somaliland) to be divided into four federal regions in line with ethnic based Ethiopian federal system, namely, Puntland, Hawiyeland, Jubbaland and Rahanweinland. 3 The Somali region of Ethiopia to be \"isolated\" from the rest of Somalia, and limit to the extent possible commercial and traffic links between the Somali region and Somalia. According to the source, Meles has discussed the proposed two state solutions with Rayaale Kahin, the president of Somaliland, Abdillahi Yusuf, the president of the TFG, and with Mohamed Gedi, the prime minister of the TFG, in separate meetings held in September in Addis Ababa. While Mr. Yusuf rejected any discussion on the subject, Mr. Rayaale has praised the initiative and committed to deploy ten thousand Somaliland troops in Mogadishu to work with Ethiopian military forces to help quell the growing insurgency in the Somali capital. Mr. Rayaale also assured Meles that Somaliland will help Ethiopia in subduing the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF), a Somali rebel group based in the Somali region of Ethiopia. According to the source, Mr. Gedi began to entertain the two-state notion after the rift between him and Mr. Yusuf reached to a point of no-return, though he reportedly rebuffed the idea in the initial discussion back in September. The relationship between Yusuf and Meles has deteriorated since, according to this knowledgeable source. Subsequent to the September discussion between Meles and Rayaale, a Somaliland delegation comprising ministers of foreign affairs and finance and chief of staff of Somaliland army held several meetings in Addis Ababa with Dr. Tekede and the chief of staff of Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF). The Somaliland delegation has agreed to send an advance team of military officers to Mogadishu to pave the way for the eventual deployment of Somaliland troops in Mogadishu and to extradite to Ethiopia members of the Ogaden clan residing in the territory of Somaliland. Ethiopian government believes that the ONLF is drawing support from Ogaden businessmen and some segments of the Issaq clan who largely hail from the Togdheer region of Somaliland. In light of these discussions, Somaliland was given the green light to secure the borders of the former British Somaliland. According to the source, Meles has taken into confidence members of the Ethiopian opposition parties who have fully endorsed the proposed two-state solution for Somalia. With the blessing of the Bush Administration, Ethiopian troops invaded Mogadishu and much of southern Somalia in last December. They were successful in overthrowing the radical Islamist dominated regime of the UIC and in installing divided and unpopular TFG. His troops bogged down in the messy quagmire of Mogadishu where the remnants of the ousted Union of Islamic Court (UIC) continues to wage Iraq-style bloody insurgency, Meles is understandably frustrated with the apparent failure of the internationally recognized but toothless fledgling Transitional Federal Government (TFG) in pacifying the tumultuous Somali capital. The Somali experts in Addis Ababa view the two-state solution as a vital long-term strategy for Ethiopia´s national interest.
  15. I think you need a genuine intelligence officers that are not part of the local conflict. It seems the boys at intelligence department , the bodyguards, and the local militia are familiar to one another. I would empower a well trained investigative police and create military intelligence from zero. Many intelligence members are also former Al-shabaab members and Maxakamado. THey were recruited to infiltrate Al-shabaab, but most of them might have blood in their hands or could be connected to foreign intelligence. Knowledgeable people told us long ago that the intelligence agency NISA drows salary from the FRench, the UAE and even EThiopia, so I would appolish that agence completely. Besides intelligence means covert not uniformed officers. THeir job is clandestine. I think these events are an opportunity for the government to eliminate the old guard.
  16. Maakhiri, The Somali nation must be bigger than a propagandist like Calsow. He will neither help his tribe nor the Somali people. C/qaybdiid spoke well and allowed the system to take it's course. It is not about Farmaajo alone now, it is about us Somalis. Midida qofka daabka haya ee taladu ka go' do waa in aynu taageera oo toosinaa markuu qaldamo.
  17. I guess we could assume that the raid against C.shakur was sanctioned by the government.
  18. Mooge, Airplanes travel 35,000 feet or more than 1o km high. Waraabe will not be able to see what is happening in that altitude. besides, the day they shoot down an airplane , they will be doomed. If I were Farmaajo, after Mogadishu is stabilized my next move will be to demand not only the control of air space but also land and sea. No ship will dock any Somali territory without the permission of the government. I will make an excuse of checking chemical weapons imported by EThiopia through Berbera and demand the inspection of all ships in the Somali waters. Some people think that this unending " Xadhig Jiid" by Somali tribes will end just by talks is misguided. You got 50 ministers and 97 members of parliament in Hirshabeele, 170 members of parliament and Guurti in Somaliland; 52 ministers and 66 members of parliament, and if you add Jubba Land , Southwest , plus the 320 in Mogadishu representing both houses , how can any resource reach the people. In mogadishu alone, you got 320 parliamentarians , 200 generals and five dozen ministers. Maxaa ka soo hadhaya marka midwalba dhawr kun oo doolar, waardiye iyo shaqaale u baahdo. This country needs real revolution.
  19. Farmaajo did the right thing this time around. It is correct to go ahead of the story. Waa Mu'aamaro loo baahan yahay si cad in looga hortago oo la fashiliyo. Someone is cooking something to derail this government, and we Somalis should not allow this. In sports, this kind of mistakes are called " unforced errors". Something that you could and should avoid at any cost. Looking this events, I came to realize that President Farmaajo is winning and he might be successful to bring Somalia out of the political hole. If he avoids the Abyssinian stooges for help, and comes back to his " Somalia , Somali baa difaacaysa" he will have our full support. You should know that our primary enemy is Ethiopia, and now the Emirates. Within ten months, this government has achieved great goals including the control of the Somali air space. People around the enclaves are crying about the success of this move. Somali prisoners were released from around the world, the Turkish army is building the Somali army, and by looking the efforts of this government, Khayre and Farmaajo might bring Somalia from the political hole if they avoid these unforced mistakes. When you are traveling and trying to reach a destination, you must not be distracted by others, or those you meet in the way. Did you ever hear the saying that " The dog barks , but the caravan goes". Ha isku mashquulin muranka qabaa'ilka , sobobtoo ah Qabaa'ilku wax badan ma rabaan dantoodana ma garanayaan, waa dad lagu guurayo oo mararka qaarkood dantooda cadow ku ah. o . Adiga waxa lagaa rabaa, in aadan safarkaaga hakin oo meeshii aad ku socotay aad gaadho. Haddi aad ciidan qaran dhisto, oo budhcada hubaysan aad gabood u diido, wiilasha Al-shabaab ee la qaldayna, aad badhna dagaal kaga adkaato, badhna la heshiiso, argagixisada caalimigana gabood u diido, shanqadha siyaasigu way iska dhamaan. Lately we have been listening people like CAlasow complaining about the "H" clan been dominated or their taxes used by everyone, yet if you analyze carefully, it is all plot to mislead the people. I know who is pushing this idea for destructive reasons. Few weeks ago I was having a coffee with few guys, and a freind from Burco suggested to a guy from Galmudug who was complaining about being targeted by Farmaajo and Khayre and he told him: " waar miyaad dawlad iyo waxan la idiinla iminayo aad iska daysaan oo inta Gaalkacayo iyo Marka u dhaxeysa inta aad xidhataan aad dawlad goboleed cusub ku dhawaaqdaan, dadkan Soomaalida ee idin imanayana ay goboladoodi ku noqdaan oo ay hargeisa , GEdo iyo degaanadoodi tegaan. Maxaad u Biilinaysaan dadkan , idin kor fadhiys". The Galmudug guy nooded and said, as soon as Farmaajo government is finished we are no longer preoccupied about Somali government , and you guys, Somaliland could leave if you wish. I told him that , the Galmudug and the "H" in general became rich of the Somali state and government, and without that you could be any other place inhabited by a greedy clan. I told him about hospitals. schools, and billions of dollars of infrastructure spent in Mogadishu. the Turks and others. He did not realize that the Somali government from 1960-1990 built only "Banaadir iyo Labada webi", the rest went to Berbera and Hargeisa. They became rich of the Somali state and capital. I told him, do not listen to the SNM guy who want to dismantle Somalis. After few heated argument, he told me , " waar ma nimankiinan reer AWdal ee SNM ta Ina Biixi footka siiyey ayaan wax ka dhegeystaa" The so called domination of others is totally false. The prime minister is from "H" block, so does the army chief, the former intelligence chief, the Governor of Banaadir, and most of the police commanders and others. Plus, they have all the advantage of the national capital . Imagine a person from Ceerigaabo or Zaylac who never had anything from the Somali state other than the Somali Hood and the sovereignty of the nation. Some people think this calculated attacks including the latest against Qaybdiid are either the growing pains of the Somali state becoming accountable through this misadventures or the enemies of Somalia are really scared and want to create a tribal war. This latest moves by UAE and their paid " Dabadhilifs" made me think my criticism of Farmaajo and Khayre. I do believe now more than ever that the success of this government could pull Somalia out of the political disaster. We must take stand at this juncture of the history and side with government against the plotting of those who want to derail the Somali nation. President Farmaajo must not allow to be distracted by small nuisances from the tribes and instead focus on the major things of defeating our enemies. Iska jir kuwa karinaya dagaal qabiil ama in ay partimaameed ka dhigtaan reer gaara. Arrintan Cabdi Qaybdiid waxa ay qaawisay kuwii rabay in ay adiga iyo beesha H/G madaxa isku galiyaan. I also feel that some guys from MOgadishu especially the Cali Geedi community might be plotting to get the prime ministership for themselves in order to create bigger problems. Mr. Khayre must ignore the impulse to crush the opposition and keep what he was doing which was build institutions. When I look back the " Qalbi Dhagax " affair, the raid of C. C/shakur, and this latest raid, I come to realize that this president is trying to do the right thing and others are trying to derail his efforts. AS patriotic Somalis we must stand with Farmaajo now and help him succeed.
  20. Millions of dollars were were collected for the drought relief in Somaliland. That money is in the hands of the government and other groups tasked to help the people. Other than few food rations to the displaced , so far nothing has happened. No one is digging any wells, and no one is creating jobs. Of course those who looted the public land purse are enjoying in Hargeisa, but the poor people of Somaliland is devastated by skyrocketing inflation and huge unemployment. Thousands of youth are leaving Somaliland to MOgadishu and to the high seas. How about for those who tasked to create jobs or regulate the labour market? Here , the minister of labour is bragging about her efforts to collect garbage from the ministry building. She thanks the useless TV guy for broadcasting her great achievements. Every Thursday is a cleaning day for the ministry. She could have hired a full time employee to maintain the building and collect the garbage, yet this is one of her great achievements. Nolow marwo wasiir. Ma maqli jirtay qawda maqashii waxna ha u qaban. In this other clip you could see the ministry of mineral and water resources. A huge building that cost millions, yet that money could have dug hundreds of wells for the needy. This is a good example of the false image of the Hargeisa government. Here again the false rig pictured at the office. What they need is small office to manage the resources and the crew who are tasked to dig wells and reservoirs to hold water for the rural people. Most of their job should be technical and field work, instead of fancy offices. Now, in this bottom clip , a small but effective indigenous relieve organization is doing what that ministry supposed to do with much smaller resources. Again, " Qawda maqashii waxna ha u Qaban. Ilaahayow ummadda ka qabo kuwa aan u naxayn. You be the judge.
  21. Maakhiri, I agree. A small tribe of Tigray highlanders should not be dominating the Somali tiger. Kabaqaadnimo ogolaan mayno. Maybe they are not comfortable with their own skin. Who knows.
  22. Yonis,, Somaalidu waxay tiraa ninka gawrac gartiisana sii. This men were the smartest people among their generation. They were far from being " Seeraale" ama dad xoog iyo xeeled ku galay jaamacad. Of course they have certain political weaknesses like many of us, yet, if you allow me, I have a different take of their shortcomings. Galayr was one of the early Somali students who got scholarship in America and graduated in 1965, over fifty years ago. Few years later he got his masters . So, he wasn't someone who jumped fences to reach great heights. In early seventies he was managing more than 10% of the Somali GDP as the head of Sugar production and other factories in Jowhar with thousands of employees. Now, let us get to the problem Galayr facing today. He did not create KHaatumo by accident or to lift his people from chronic political disagreements. He and Siilaanyo were friends for more than fifty years. In the early eighties, he, Siilaanyo and other who called themselves reformers but could be power hungry opportunists, tried to takeover the country through a well crafted scheme which was presented to Siyaad Barre by others. The letter was taken to Siyaad Barre by Dr, Maxamed Aadan Sheikh, a fearless reformist. They asked Siyaad Barre to appoint a prime minister to manage the affairs of the state , and they suggested Ahmed Siilanyo as their man. All those who advocated for reform including those who wanted to separate the Somali Revolutionary socialist party and the president were arrested in what Siyaad Barre called, " Laba kaclaynitii kacaanka". Fortunately, for those two, they were not on the list. Siyaad Barre called Ahmed Siilaanyo and sent him to London and asked him to dismantle the currently proclaimed SNM organization in LOndon before he could do any changes. Siilaanyo came back and told Siyaad Barre that he was unable to achieve his mission. Remember, Siilaanyo could have joined that movement while in London , and he could have escaped, yet he came backback. Through his intelligence Siyaad knew everything already and he discharged Siilaanyo from being a minister and appointed him as an adviser. Finally, Siyaad found out about both Galayr as the main character behind the scheme, but before he was arrested, he got a tip from Ahmed S, Daffle, and he left the country hasty. Galaydh commandeered a small airplane full of the salary of his agency and employees and landed in Kenya. Siilaanyo went to London after he was sacked. For two years, these two were wondering around Europe and East Africa to create something of their own. It was not until ate 1984, Siilaanyo went to Ethiopia ans started from the top. What I am getting is that Galaydh is a very smart guy, but unfortunately he is trying to resurrect something that could have been done some 35 years ago. The man he was trying to ally himself in order to create a new entity that could eventually join the union with a northern alliance , is old and senile that need to be cared. When Galaydh was rooming in Taleex country side , it was a well planned journey to eventually join Siilaanyo and wage their know scheme to be irrelevant in the Southern led Somali politics. Ma maqli jirtay markaan tabar hayeyna tal mahayn, Imika oon talo hayna tabar ma hayo. That is the dilemma Galayr is facing. His old buddy Siilaanyo is gone, and the new " Madax Faluuq Jabhad' could not understand Galyaydh or his game. THe problem is he could not let it go. He can not leave history in this way as the man who sold Khaatumo. I would like to send a message to Mr. Galaydh that not all is lost. If he comes back to us one more time, we will forgive him. We could build something different with stronger legs that could easily defeat the new Jabhad. Ninku Seeraale iyo nin geel raaci waayey ma ahane jar baa loo dagay. By the way, Hargeisa has mastered these deceptions. Someone told me that the former president of AWDal State who was celebrated and fested arounfd the world is quitely living in Borama nad married to a girl from Gabiley. THey said " Masaajidka ayuu iasago go' Shaala xidhin oo cidna granayn ku tukadaa oo dadka iska qariyaa. Sida dadka loo gato way ku ilbaxeen. Samatar is ten years younger than Galaydh and as Holac said, he has a comfortable life. He treated like star when he goes to Hargeisa. He has tenure in his university and drows good salary. Also, he is far from "Seeraale iyo dad xeelad jaamcad ku galay" . He was top in his class in Amoud, and as an 18 year old, he was number one in the exam to be a radio Mogadishu broadcaster. just after few years in Radion Mogadishu, he also won the top in the exam to join the BBC Somali service. By the way in 1969 or even 1972, those men like Mustaphe Xaaji, Idris Hassan Diiriye and others would read the English news and translate in Somali while reading the English text since the Somali language was not written. Today, the Radio announcers both in BBC and V OA could barely read Somali without hesitation. He became a dean some 25 years ago in a white dominated college, which is rare in the Somali circles in those days or even now.. Markaa nimanku Seeraale ka dheer ee xaaaldan siyaasda ee Soomaalida cusub ayaey ku wareeren. Samatar by nature is more westernized, and will never feel comfortable of a system were an elder or Suldaan appoints the ministers like Hargeisa. By the way, MMA, I heard that few days ago he was in transit in London , and he could be home in Minnesota already. Waxaan rajaynayaa waraysigii uu Soomaaliland ku baabin lahaa. Ilayn waa xadhig lama sitaanee. Isaga iyo Galaydh ba waan cafinaynaa waana soo dhawaynaynaa haddi mashruuci Soomaali weyn ay halkii ka wadayaan.
  23. General Caydiid (AHN) was one of the alphabetic Somali movements who destroyed our country with SNM, SSDF, SPM, USC and others. Caydiid was the product of his time. His is actions were that of military general who was trying to defeat his adversaries in military means than a calculating politician. I was not inside the country in 1991, but I heard the harrowing journeys people took to just leave MOgadishu. Innocent people leaving the capital to other destinations were targeted in Jowhar and mostly in the Hiiraan region. Innocent Somalis of every clan other than the USC were murdered without reason. Since I was not there and most of the narratives are from eyewitnesses, I would leave that story to those who were there. Now, let me add my few senses on the political issue of Manifesto , General Caydiid and what followed later. No one doubts that the " Manifesto" were civic leaders and elders who were trying to find peaceful transfer of power from Siyaad Barre to a caretaker government, yet their actions led to the dismantling of the national army, the Mogadishu civil war and the declaration of SNM to separate from Somalia. First and foremost , only an irredentist and illogical Somali would have the thought of defeating the Somali military of 1982. SSDF was a serious threat hat waged a war from Goroyo Cawl, in the outskirts of Borama to Mudug , Galgaduud, all the way to Dolow. With the help from South Yemen, Libya and Ethiopia they were a serious threat to the nation, yet they could not capture other than Galdogo and Balabale with help of EThiopian army. Unlike SSDf, the SNM was regional and their efforts were solely targeted to Woqooyi Galbeed and Togdheer. Despite their huge tribal support and sacrifices, they could not capture one single village . THis is a fact. The USC itself had entered MOgadishu without facing a major war or confrontation with Somali army, and all the subsequent wars that followed did happen after Siyaad Barre left Villa-Somalia. THere should be probably another thread of the useless " Janhado" who destroyed our country. Folks, there is a difference between the overthrow of a regime, defeat of a regime , change of government by violence, and just the destruction of the country. The " Jabhado" especially SNM knew that the only way t change the regime in SOmalia was to destroy the whole country from Zaylac to KIsmaayo. Even some composer prayed for that destruction. Anyway, let me go back to the topic at hand. Every country that was overthrown by armed rebels, those who were commanding the movement took in charge, whether that is Eritrea, Ethiopia , Uganda or Rwanda. Even the SNM commander C/raxman Tuur took in charge of Northern Somalia. Manifesto, despite its good intentions made three huge errors that hunted Somalia for generation. 1- They dismantled the Somali national army. AHN, Dr. Cumar Cusmaan Raabe, A philospher and a man who studied the Somali region for twenty years, had said, the Manifest imposed prime minister Cumar Carte Qalib has done what SNM could not do for ten years which was the dismantling of the national army. After he was appointed prime minister by Cali Mahdi, he went to the national radio and gave an order to dismantle the national army. He said, " The Army members who are in the north must disarm and give their weapons to the SNM guerilla guys, and those in the south must surrender to the USC. " Ciidamadii Qaranka ayuu amar ku siiyey in ay Hubka qabill ku wareejiyaan" . This action, dissolved the national army that could have protected the borders and could have used by the next government for the security of the nation. Patriotic Somalis consider Cumar Carte as the one of the most cruel men in the history, of Somalia who single handedly brought Somalia to its knees, yet his Son was in Mogadishu appointed as deputy premier. Corrupt southern politicians do not even know basic history. Donald Rumsfeld, the American secretary of state has done exactly like that after the overthrow of SAddam Hussein and dismantled the strong IRaqi army that could have been used to keep the order. What followed was the civil war and the anarchy of Iraq. Unlike Somalia, when the TPLF took over the country, they went all the way to the borders, they did not change one single general or even the ministers who were serving under Mengistu. First they pacified the country and consolidated their power, and then slowly changed the military officers without tempering the rank and file soldiers . People who have met him told me that INa Carte Qalib bragged about his success of dismantling the army , and the difficult task of trying to rebuild the Somali National Army. 2-Manifesto was not among the warring factions. As many of you have stated Manifesto was a civic organization that was not part of the warring faction that was fighting to replace Siyaad Barre. THey were not armed. THey were wise men who were trying to find bloodless change despite the gathering of the storm from the tribal rebels. Siyaad Barre hated manifesto because, the main players of the organization were representatives of the old order he overthrew in 1969. In one of his radio attacks, Siyad Barre said, " Maanifesto , waa Gofaneyaashi Ku Naaxay Kacaaka Iyo Canaasiirtii uu Kacaanku Dartood U dhashay. Roughly means, that they were the combination of two groups, one who , the "H" were those who got rich of the revolution, the other, the Puntlanders, were those who the revolution overthrew. The problem was both Siyaad Barre and the rebels hated Manifesto equally. Rather than replaced by Manifesto, Siyaad Barre would have prefered Caydiid. While their heroic efforts to save the country from bloody war were their great achievements, they miscalculated the zeal of the leaders of the rebels to gain the power through the gun. " Waxa ay isku dayeen in ay si dadban u hor jooog sadaan madaxda jabhadaha ee hamuunta u qabta hogaanka wadanka, sidoo kale waxay damcee in si xeeladaysan ay dalka dagaal lagu hoobto uga badbaadiyaan, hase yeeshee maysan ogayn in kursigani uu yahay mid dhiig badani ku daatay oon si fufud lagu hanan karyn. A man with the barrel of the gun like Caydiid , definitely would not listen , Somali old timers trying to decide the faith of the country through dialogue. 3-Manifesto ignored USC, SNM and SSDF. By nominating and endorsing the crowning of Ali Mandi as a president and Cumar Carte as prime minister, Manifesto not only ignored Caydiid and his rebels, but also the northern rebels who took over the north without firing a bullet in February 1991, after the Somali army abandoned and left their positions after the Cumar Carte proclamation to disarm. That decision , which gabe the power unarmed leaders like Cali Mahdi and cUmar Carte, gave the rebels of SNM to gather in Burco and proclaim secession. Also, the government of Djibouti presided a hasty prospered coronation of Ali Mahdi while there was a war going in the south. In fact, when cali Mahdi came in Mogadishu as a president Caydiid and his men were in Afgooye, Bay and the inter river country side to face a resurgent of Siyaad Barre and other "D" block coalition who were trying to came back after they were targeted by the USC and others in MOgadishu. Most people say that Caydiid did not had a plan to rule the country and if he had succeeded , he would have been a ruthless dictator. Also, one must consider that Caydiid faced many challenges from many sides including the Americans. When the Americans intervened, there was a basic agreement between Caydiid and Cali Mahdi, yet, despite the crimes committed against the U.N peacekeepers, you can not write an arrest warrant and bounty on the head of the man who is leading the largest rebels in the country. That was the biggest political mistake the Americans had done. Who knows , if he was allowed to take charge, things might have been different. The Mogadishu scene disintegrated after his death, and Ethiopia never dared to enter Somalia while Caydiid was there. When Clinton changed the AMerican policy and decided to make a deal, Caydiid went to Addis, and when Meles greated him i his office , he said, " If Africa had lions like you the colonials would never had come to Africa". I consider Caydiid and C.laahi Yusuf as tough men who had faced huge obstacles in life, and when I compare them with today's leaders they the toughest men Somalia had produced. No wonder, after Siyaad Baree took over with his coup in 1969, Caydiid and C/laahi Yusuf were the first people he put in jail. In fact, Djibouti has created many problems in Somalia for the last 27 years. In 1999, then president Cigaal went to Nairobi and met many of his old comrades there. They asked him to convene some kind of a gathering to reconcile the country and he promised to do something. He met Mohamed Abshir In Hargeisa and things were going in the right direction. Then suddenly Cumar Geelle a novice gangster who took over from his uncle a year earlier wanted to increase his stature among Somalis and took over the project and decided to create a new formula which we call today 4.5. He told C/laahi Yusuf, Cigaal and others who running a functioning governments, to leave that and come as representatives of their tribes. We are still sorting out the monster created by Gelle, and opportunists like Galayr, C/qasim and C/raxman Baadiyow., the later wasn't interested in power , but was one of civic leaders consulted by Cumar Geelle. History would have judged Caydiid and many others, if good things came after them, but , with likes of Shariif Ahmed, Al-Shabab and what followed, they could be judged differently than 1991. I wish I would be sitting in Goobweyn or some Somali valley and writing my few senses without the interception of the rat race here in good old Canada.
