He can't have some one like cabdi cawar or cumar buur who would be taking orders from puntland. Culusow is actually is the smartest hag president since 1991. Another Saacid will be disaster, you can scapegoat your chosen prime minister and the IC will turn a blind eye but if he tries again with another one then his neck will be on the line.

  3. Thanks Malistar, I don't always agree with you (90% of the time) but I appreciate your passion. Don't you think that the recommendations are eerily similar to the ones requested by a certain autonomous state?
  4. I would be impressed if it was even 30% manufactured in SL. I also won't touch Chinese truck with 10 ft pole. Again I don't see any politics in this.
  5. People from there are bipolar.
  6. Threads like this are destroying Somaliaoline. Is Kaluun a mock account?

Sometimes I want to take you seriously but this Afro Hashemite nonsense needs to stop. It's very embarrassing to claim something like that and to associate it with the terrorist Godane is disgusting.

But Somalis are to proud compromising on such issues is impossible both Somalis of Somalia and Somalis of Somaliland are stubborn and consider compromising and giving each other the benefit of the doubt being defeated by the other. A home grown new union based on shared interest and mutual respect could have been created long time ago but i doubt we are any different than the rest of African nations that went their separate ways. We will never see the bigger picture well atleast the leaders will not the bickering and disputes will continue for years to come. I can't believe it, what you're suggesting here is a union with borders. What next? A unified currency? A mutual defence pact? I see cracks in your armor Xaaji.
  9. 1. Is Khat addictive? 2. Does it impair your judgement? If the answer is yes to either of these questions then I support banning it. P.S. Moderators should move most of the threads in politics to the general category.
  10. ^^^^^ We are better at spending other peoples money, yipeee. I guess there is no pride like that of an enriched beggar.
  11. burahadeer;988135 wrote: as usual!!!! next step under UN colony.... One of the problems is the political system that is designed to fail. There shouldn't be any power sharing between the president and the prime minister, The prime minister should run the government and choose the cabinet with the approval of the parliament and the presidency must be a ceremonial position. Hassan sheikh's temperament is more suited as the PM and Saacid can sleep in his house and show up like a hedgehog once in a blue moon. Of course both these guys are unsuitable and I'm not sure if the people down south won't fight over the title of president even if it's ceremonial.
  12. Bitter divisions between Somalia's top leaders threaten internationally-backed efforts to battle Al-Qaeda-linked insurgents and end decades of anarchy in the war-torn nation, experts warn. Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon, who has been in office for just over a year, is facing a confidence vote in parliament this week after he resisted President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud's demand that he resign. The precise cause of the power struggle is unclear, but politicians have pointed to wrangling over alleged corruption, personal loyalties as well as Somalia's complex clan politics, where each community expects to be represented in the corridors of power. "The prime minister told us he is at loggerheads with the president over several issues including who should be in cabinet," said MP Mohamed Yusuf. AFP via Hiiraan.com Perception is reality and that's how the world views the SFG today.

These folks are either irony impaired or this is an ingenious piece of satire. It is absurd but hilarious. That's why I asked the question, their cognitive dissonance is hard to overcome.

Where Mahiga's stamp has to be on every document lets move forward shall we. I know that you don't like corruption (well at least for Somaliland) but don't you think that this government's default mode is crisis management. Things are bad in Somalia but these guys are making it worse by manufacturing conflict (juba, central bank, PM, etc...). The rest of the Somalilanders jumped ship already, they no longer see this "SFG" as a possible partner in crime, I'm surprised you are still holding hope.

Even if there are corrupted officials there are ways to show that one is responsible and committed to change the way of things in Somalia. While not even doing much all he needed to do is create a working mechanism in the bank authority make sure that the bank institution remains untouched and everything remains classified there are several tools they could use to make it all happen. And that every one directly reports to the president on these matters , even the former bank governor who was sacked he didnt leave a good legacy all of that could have been avoided if he had the right person in the right place. This tolerance of corruption and caring only about visuals makes me question your character, or do you hold Somaliland to a higher standard and support this government for the rest of Somalia in hope that they will be more amenable to the separation of Somaliland.
  16. The person who tutored me on math was a Somali Bantu, he didn't look different in fact he looked more Somali than me. I didn't know the extent of racism and prosecution against them but the stories make me ashamed.
  17. People here were excusing the corruption of the SFG as a fact of life, the incompetence of the SFG and the internal strife in the government is destroying their ambition of a centralized government.

Interesting, i don't follow Somalilani politics closely but why is the head of the opposition the speaker of the parliament? Is the ruling party a minority government? if not it doesn't make sense to not consolidate power.
  19. So Xaaji, do you support the independence of Scotland? Do you think that Somaliland should support it too?
  20. They should escalate attacks, the terrorists shouldn't regain their foothold again.

But if you count the Ugandan and burundian mercenaries than maybe u have a point I don't think you realize how saturated the south is with arms, they dwarf Somaliland when it comes to arms and training. As my father used to say " Northeners fight so that you don't kill them, Southerners fight so that they kill you", when it comes to fighting we are novices.

Most police funding in Somalia is from the international community, the money is earmarked for security and they have to spend it.
  23. I'm surprised it took this long for them to open a consulate in Hargeisa.
