  1. Goodness gracious, people are so occupied with semantics.
  2. If the news is true then the international donors need to freeze everything until they get to the bottom of this. The Somali government can't be trusted to manage its finances and there need to be another structure to distribute funds. We are all speculating but we all know the level of corruption in Somalia and years from now Somalia will not escape entropy if this keep happening.
  3. Xiin and Malister, we are all in this together, the time for sniping should be over.
  4. The Turks see the potential in Mogadishu and the windfall if Somalia stabilizes will be huge.
  5. The problem with the professor is that he conflates his personal ambitions with the situation in Somalia. He thought his education accorded him immediate recognition in national politics forgetting the realities in Somalia, and once he failed he retreated to become a bigger fish in a smaller pond. This ambition unfortunately is showing that he is not that different than many of the elders who let their clannish agendas control them. In the end with all his education he gained nothing but an inflated sense of self, instead of trying to rise above Somali politics he let it consume him. What a shame.
  6. Does this mean that Lower Shebelle, Bay and Bakool will form a state? I'm happy with this sudden embrace of federalism ( Still clannish, but that's a reality we can't escape)
  7. I lived there for a long time and there are good and bad people, the problem is that wealth is eliminating any sense of empathy and each generation is worse the previous one.

Answer the questions and stop talking from your behind. There are a lot of logistic problems in enforcing this new arbitrary decree.Do people have to apply for this useless passport and where will they get it?
  9. Alpha Blondy;981614 wrote: that's just ignorance in it's purest form. these sort of provocative statements are not impressing anyone ee sida uula soco. Then answer the question, where do people get this passport from? from Hargeisa? Do people from all over have to go there? Why start demanding something that many people can't fulfill? Why make life so hard on so many people just to send a message?
  10. Are there any Somalilander embassies in the middle east? Where will people get passports or do they sell them in the market like old Somali passports? How do you know if someone is from SL or is it exclusive to "special" clans?
  11. Completely different situations, but signs points to a referendum ( I hope it doesn't come to this).
  12. No senior minister of a "sovereign" country would say that, this is a carte blanche to the US reduces Somalia to a vassal state. We know that the US can do whatever in many countries but you don't hear their officials prostrating themselves like that.

  14. Interesting.... I' surprised by the inclusion of Somaliland in this proclamation, The government in Mogadishu were always skittish in dealing with SL. The SFG can't enforce anything, but they can hinder SL and PL in the exploitation of their resources. Again I feel that this is an issue of another minister overstepping his mandate.

But as always some people are making it look like conflict between forces of different ideologies. Why can't everybody be like you? A voice of reason at last.
  16. I'm sure the Somaliland foreign exchange control will be extremely vigilant in preventing people from using Somali currency. A piece of paper can't do a thing unless there is enforcement, it's just another hoop people will have to jump through when they do business. This will blow away in few months and then things will go back to normal.

  18. The flip-flopper tells others to commit. Sheesh... Couldn't you find a more convincing person? The guy changes his mind more than a madam has clients.
  19. I think you're grasping at straws. The secretary of state won't meet a lowly foreign minister when the president is available.

  21. Signs are pointing up recently, it's great what you can do when you stop distracting yourself with minor issues.
  22. Too much hot blood, too little brains.
  23. The UN report was like reading every somali forum in the past 10 months, it was full of rumors and conspiracy theories and didn't provide any evidence to support its findings. That doesn't mean it didn't contain kernels of truth the problem is it felt like a Garoodi and Dr.Osman collaboration ( very biased).
