  1. To see some people making up stuff and supporting Hiiraale is the height comedy.
  2. 25 minutes and only one response, I thought this news will create more discussion. Congrats to Madoobe, hopefully this will usher peace to that region that suffered too much.
  3. I'm sorry if I sound picky but most of the new building look extremely ugly, where is the beautiful traditional Somali architecture?
  4. Saalax;949947 wrote: Khaatumo = Bacaac. Hence why the Federal Gov down south doesn't take them serious. You are wrong. Somaliland doesn't fully control SSC and this will hamper any agreements made by the SL government since the people there will ask for a greater share of the wealth, and regarding oil production I was talking about the short term, Somalia will award blocks the size of countries and they will be waiting years for oil companies to dig oil.
  5. They look miserable, Somalis love to sit around a table and grimace to the camera it seems. Eastern Sanaag is the least likely region in British somaliland to celebrate May 18th.
  6. I thought that when you try to gain recognition you do everything to make friends.
  7. Is there an equivalent of a second amendment in the Somali constitution? I hope not. People are getting killed left and right there, they should collect all the guns and make it a crime to posses one.
  8. Mogadishu is a long way from becoming the best Capital in East Africa let alone Africa, there is a potential for it to be but that will take monumental work.
  9. Unfortunately Somalia is late to join oil producing nations, commodity prices are falling and the global economy is in the gutter so all this clamoring for blocks is at the moment only to stockpile reserves with no intentions for production. This might change in 4-5 years , but in 5 years The US will be almost energy independent and all the investment in the past 5 years will be producing oil which might lower prices further. Our only hope is a monumental change in growth in a way that might force digging oil in Somalia.
  10. Somali politics is more intriguing than Italian renaissance politics.
  11. I shudder to think what the evil people in Khatumo would think next to ruin the peace in Mogadishu, there sole purpose is to cause mayhem and kill people. and don't talk to me about Puntland or Jubaaland, my goodness. The politics of division is strong with this one.

Look back at your shortlived constitution. Someone translate this for me.

Something Xiin doest want people to see. That's some random comment guesstimating the inhabitants of some regions, I really thought that you had something concrete. Counting people in time of war must have been a very easy job down there.

IGAD observers have arrived and the election commission is in motion. Let the presidential election begin. This deserves its own thread.

Clannism at work here. People like you will make it impossible to have a future in Somalia. You're condemning a huge group of people as the cause of the mayhem in Somalia and forgetting this Somali Government was formed mostly by their work. P.S. Moderators should crack down on this naked clannism disguised by Acronyms.
  17. Look how quickly this issue descended into a discussion about clan affiliations. The un-elected governor of a major region offered his opinion (he might get sacked by the president any time if the trend continues) and Jubaaland is becoming inevitable.
  18. Recently I noticed a shift from rejecting Jubaaland state outright to supporting it but protesting the way it's conducted. I call that progress and I'm sure few weeks from now the state will be a reality and everyone will confess that they supported it from the beginning.
  19. I hope a drone finds him soon. A despicable person and the people who support him deserve to be with him.

The post is ignorant but overall Nubians are related genetically to Somalis and East Africans in general, it shouldn't be an insult since Nubians are actually doing much better than Somalis or Somalilanders.
  21. Xaaji Xunjuf;946023 wrote: As for your question on SL i dont think Somaliland minds a unitary or federal state for them its the same, if they cannot be independent than that is either way a loss for them. I think you're being dishonest here with your answer, the notion the Somaliland will just roll over and agree to direct rule from Mogadishu if they fail in their quest of independence reeks of logical fallacy. XX, you're very selective when you present your arguments, you don't have to ignore facts when they are the opposite of your point of view.

Suldaanka;945800 wrote: A stable and prosperous Mogadishu has always been one thing the Pirate boys didn't want to see as that means their relevance to Southern Somalia's politics greatly diminishes. Quite the opposite, they worked very hard to create a stable and prosperous Mogadishu but they wanted a Somalia where they have the right to exist within a federal state, it came as shock to them that the government that they helped create is doing everything to undermine them and what was more perplexing was for them to be continuously ignored when they aired their grievances. I myself think boycotting is a mistake, but the absence of Puntland and Somaliland might render this conference irrelevant, which is very unfortunate.
  23. What a travesty. Instead of welcoming the formation of Jubaaland with open arms this president tried everything to undermine it and ignored Al Shabab on every turn, and now a foreign entity is issuing a proclamation to remind him of his job.
