  1. There are elections happening left, right and centre, at regional and local level. Who is supervising them?, and how do we know they are free and fair? Mr President, if you want to run a successful administration then you need to appoint an autonomous, constitutionally established federal authority responsible for administering all electoral processes in the Republic. This institution will be, not only the guardian of the Republic, but also democracy and free and fair elections. Once instituted, you could hold local elections in Benadir's 16 districts and thus setting an example for the rest of the country. This exercise of democracy, I believe will energize and foster a civic spirit in the capital. This civic spirit will also reinvigorate the Republic by showing the naysayer that your admin means business. It will also help in your next endevour, collection of taxes, as you know there cannot be taxation without representation. Regards Mario

I am not the one looking to get to take control of other people's lands and resources. I am ready and willing to share my meager deserts with you only if you're willing and ready to share your lands of milk and honey with me under a federal resource sharing agreement where justice and equality is ensured. Anything else is a non-starter! That is not what Faroole and co are proposing.

Please brother dont kill me with the joke. I give you an oscar Walaahi!, Let me recover..........Let me give you a lesson in History shall I?, since you obviously seem to be confused with the leaflets The old Man sent you.For starters, Last Year in June Alshabaab were actually firing at the Villa Somalia from Sayyidka , a stones throw away and could use Sniper fire to kill people within the Villa Complex. There was no Roadmap and Farmaajo never had such a thing. In fact the reason we have always been in Transition is because we never had a way out. In accordance with the agreement reached in Kampala, which they signed the PM (Gaas), was to lead the Nation out of Transition(still no plan at this point). The plan was developed by him and was released in October to the world. I would like to hear from my learned friend just how Sharif managed to write up such a complex plan of action which he hadnt thought of the previous 3 years. Gas went on to lead the Nation with his Council of Ministers who were all Technocrats including a one Minister Hosh the Lawyer from Canada tasked to finalise, reconcile and approve the Constitution that was on the books the past 7 years and was never finished and no one had even bothered. Again I want to hear from the brother just what Sharif did the previous 3 years with the constitution, that 50 Million was spent on during those 3 years he was in power and nothing had been done?. Where, I say did that money go?. It took the current PM and his Ministers Hosh & others to get the job done. Shabaab was routed out of the Capital by the Defence Minister and His Top Soldier a General Diini. This was team work at its best. That is what Gaas brought to the table. As for being Clannish, Shariif is Clannish by appointing his family let alone his sub/sub/sub/sub clan to every single organisatiion dealing with AID, such as Turkish Cordination Unit, Turkish Ambassadors and even their deputies, unheard of in Somali politics since you have to at least try and maintain an illusion of inclusion for crying out loud!. His office staff from Senior Advisors, security, doormen, waiters, cooks, cleaners and even the Agaasimaha Tuubooyinka iyo boosaneero are his sub/sub/sub/sub clan. Yes Mr Jama is one his staff ......... 1 out of 200? Amir Shariif? PuhLease, Amir Thief more like! Odey, seriously? You couldn't even give him [ Shaarifka] the credit for appointing Dr Gaas, and if the man was that great [Gaas], why did he run the most corrupt government in the living memory, where 7 out of 10 dollars was unaccounted for. And if he was that good, why was he kicked out of Puntland?

  12. Can someone tell the good professor, that the rest of Somalis are proud of peace and stability in Somaliland/North Somalia, but we just don't buy into secessionism? His duty now should be helping to spread peace to the trouble some areas of Somalia. He should also not be dispirited by ignorant elders [ whichever corner of the Republic they reside in] who know nothing except clan patronage.

  16. Folks, if you carry on like this then UN trusteeship beckons. Don't say you weren't warned.

Somaliland is a de facto independent state, and the Somali government is unable to exercise its sovereignty over the region and maintain the boundaries it claims. As for the spleen-merchants who spout nonsense about Somaliland imposing her will on others, all one can say to them is either get yourself a manly means to make a telling counter-knock on us. Or failing that, then get yourself a "borrow muscles" (like some folks) to which to settle account with us. And if you can't do neither of them, then see to it to ask Ms Saado Ali to compose a song talking ill of all of that which comes under the rubric of Somaliland. Since that may indeed do the trick in here for you... :D Indeed.

  21. Oodweyne, As you saw at the last meeting of IGAD and to some extension the London May conference, Kenya will toe the line that rest of the world are proclaiming , which is that SFG will own the process of forming regional governance with the help of front line states as wise counsel . So diplomatically, I don't fear that much, what I'm dreading is for Kenya to get it's wish and have troops on the ground and change the reality on the ground, that will be a game changer.... cos then, the SFG will have to watch on the sidelines as a polity with boots on the ground change the political landscape of Southern Somalia to the dismay of the man occupying Villa Somalia.
  22. Don't you just love clan celebrations and gatherings?

Since by all indication he is turning out to be as equally dangerous to hassan sheikh and his government as late Zenawi was to then Cabdiqasim's TNG in early 2000s. Hence to me this government in Somalia really has difficult hand in here since by the looks of it the western powers are not willing to side openly with hassan sheikh against Mr Kenyatta. And in this episode of "Western reluctance" is a picture that is akin to the reality of Congo. Since the leadership of Congo are exasperated with the western powers who are in turn incline not to support them against Paul Kagame of Rwanda given the fact that the Western powers needs the strongman of Rwanda more than they need the leadership of that perpetual fragile state of Congo. All in all, this hassan sheikh really need to come up with a better diplomatic game-plan if he wants to neutralise Mr Kenyatta's moves in jubbaland since the Western powers are really incline to stay away from this fight at his behest against the Kenyan's leadership. And this means he needs to take his fight at the AU level and at the UN, and in the meantime he needs to build his strength - in terms of boots on the ground - in a gradual way. But all that being said as of now the "advantage" is with Mr Uhuru Kenyatta and his "plan" for Somalia and in particularly for the jubbaland since its working nicely for him and in turn Somalia's federal government and her president are losing badly in here. Does Kenya need Nigeria when it got Xiin and co doing their bidding? On the serious note, there is a saving grace here, which is, that Nigeria was requested to come to Somalia by the then TFG and western powers but declined. it will be interesting to see Kenya's power of persuasion, on this matter. Nigeria is also tied up by it's own battle with extremists and it is the leading force in Mali helping the French wind down their mission. Nigeria has sent police trainers to Mogadishu, so they are involved in a way, but i doubt they want to help Kenya's geo-political game in Somalia, they are too far from the theater to be interested. Now what the SFG could do in form of PM, is to visit France and China, the two countries that are truly behind Kenya. If Somalia can cut 'the middle men' who are bidding for France and China respectively, then it will be on the path to salvation when it comes to this matter. It can also invite the French oil giant TOTAL and listen to any request it has with regards to oil blocks that are in Somalia's side.
