1. I hear Garowe will have a new Airport. Construction will start in few months.
2. @Che -Guevara said: My family spent 6k to get back a house that has been in our family since early 60s. We have the original the house title and tax receipts. Others had to spent much more than that. I guess 6K is the service fee you have to pay for your house or its lot being safeguarded all these years. In the West, that house would be owned by the government by now.
3. It is interesting to hear Hiiraale in such a desperate situation. This man has been fighting one group or another since the 90's and he has nothing to show for it. This is a truly tragic case of warlordism.
4. I am not sure what has changed for Djibouti to roll out the "red carpet" for Puntland. It seems Ismail Omar Gulleh wants to be seen as a powerful regional player.
5. Good to see a Somali woman recognized for her talent. Nacam.
6. Coofle, Somali politics needs honorable people like you to keep it balanced, saaxiib. Don't quit Somali politics and its language, but rather engage in it and steer it to the right path. As long as you don't reciprocate the vitriol, Somali politics can be both rewarding and exciting.
7. It is good to see Kismayo enjoying peace these days. It is hard to believe just few years ago, the city was the commercial capital for Alshabab. Dark Ahmed has done a great job securing and bringing different clans together under one leadership.
8. I have seen the pictures of the new terminal. I think the $4 million could have built a better looking small terminal. Having said that, this is a great project and is miles ahead of the other cities.
9. As things stand, it is crucial that the Provisional Federal Constitution be reviewed by responsible, broadly minded federalist elements with wider knowledge of Somali traditional culture, strictly following the provisions of its Chapter 15. As agreed upon in Garowe Principles, the divisive 4.5 clan formula is limited only to this term. Therefore, the next parliament must be at a constituency level and should be based on a broad community selection. Well said. These issue must be resolved if federalism is to take hold.
10. ISIS posted a video on Thursday on Twitter showing men destroying ancient artifacts with sledgehammers. It is unclear exactly when the video was recorded. ISIS posted a video on Thursday on Twitter showing men destroying ancient artifacts with sledgehammers. It is unclear exactly when the video was recorded. A man in the video describes the artifacts as “idols” and says they must be removed. “God create us to worship him,” the man says. “Him only not some stones.” “Our prophet ordered us to remove all these statues as his followers did when they conquered nations,” he said. A man in the video says, “These ruins behind me are idols and statues that people used to worship in the past instead of Allah.” A man in the video says, “These ruins behind me are idols and statues that people used to worship in the past instead of Allah.” The video also depicts the burning of what appears to be hundreds of books. The video also depicts the burning of what appears to be hundreds of books. Earlier this month, Director General of the United Nation’s Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) said the destruction involved museums, libraries, and universities across Mosul. The museums and libraries in Mosul house artifacts from the Assyrian and Akkadian Empires. Mosul is currently under ISIS control and has approximately 1,800 registered archeological sites. The extremists have taken control of four ancient cities – Ninevah, Kalhu, Dur Sharrukin, and Ashur – which were all at some point the capital of the Assyrian Empire. According to reports, the UNESCO World Heritage Site Hatra, which is estimated to have been built in the 3rd or 2nd century B.C., is in danger of ISIS militants. http://www.buzzfeed.com/maryanngeorgantopoulos/video-shows-isis-destroying-ancient-artifacts-in-mosul-museu#.tkXVkjkz3
11. I reason most of us don't appreciate the subject of mental health enough to comprehend why a woman with six kids and a stable job would choose to massacre a group of other muslims who have done nothing to her. It is very easy for the depressed mind rationalize death and ignore the basic tenets of Islam and life. I listened to an audio of Salad Ali Jeelle speaking about his experience as a resident of the hotel. He actually came out of the mosque when this terrorist attacked. He said that she generally minded her own business as a receptionist, but became "down" 3 days prior to attack and was fasting few days to prepare herself up for death. She normally went home to her kids, but the night before, she didn’t go home and slept in the hotel. In the West, people who commit suicide acts often go through meticulous planning before taking own life. These people are truly depressed and death is often a relief for them. Maybe we need to tackle this issue of terrorism differently. I am not advocating that we medicate all suspects, but the government has to find a clever way out of this mayhem.
12. I hope Adeso is paying him for his activities including wearing that ugly shirt.
13. We lost a great mind indeed. Thank you Safferz. Men who sailed out of Somalia under the Mennonite Church's sponsorship in the sixties, (Samatar, Galaydh, Abdi-Sheik Abdi, Togane) all became scholars. Samatar will be greatly missed. Alah unaxariisto Said Samatar.
14. Boossaaso seems to be going through a construction boom and happy times. Yes, Mooge nice pictures saxib. Give us more pls.
15. Dagaal ma fiicna. AUN inta dhimatay. Peace is gold.
16. This was long overdue. President of Puntland has made the right choice by attending this discussion.
17. It would be a win-win situation for both the Federal government and Puntland. They would share resources and combine their efforts against Alshabeb.
