1. Move over Tim Wise, there’s a new white expert on race matters in town. A man who goes by the name W. Honky on YouTube and the moniker Dixon D. White on Facebook has broken down white supremacy and racism till it can’t be broken down any more. White, who says he is a former racist, doesn’t mince words to his fellow white people and wants them to understand they’re the reason why the world is so, for lack of a better phrase, “f--ked up.” “White people are racist. Not all of them, white culture is. Our white country is. Our culture is full of white supremacy that caters to white people,” White said. “It’s about time we stop being lazy ass white people and take some f--king responsibility,” White continued. White, who still admits to being a “redneck,” says that there’s a new “South” and it’s called white racial responsibility. White pleads with white America to basically man and woman up, and take responsibility for their actions. He wants white people to speak out against racism instead of participating in it or turning a blind eye to it. “It’s the inaction that has always destroyed other people. It’s the indifference,” White said. “I hate when people say I don’t see color. If you don’t see color, how the hell are you going to fix it?” White implores white people to think outside of the box. White also talks about white people being afraid of black retribution. “We’re scared of retribution, we got a lot of f--king fear. We’re scared, we always have been,” White said. White even delves into the prison population and cowardly police officers who are also scared of black retribution. And let’s not forget about the fallacy of “reverse racism.” He states it’s false, and that of course black people are angry, but angry about atrocities that white people continue to commit. White urges people to vote and create legislation to fight against the racism that is ingrained in America. He also implores people to never ignore any form of racism. Speak up and act up, is his advice to people. White’s videos should be mandatory viewing for everyone. 3. Of course, I must note the significant contributions made by white scholars to Somali studies. I applaud and commend the amazing work that some of these produced and produce which continues to shape my own intellectual growth (i.e. Catherine Besteman, Lidwien Kapteijns, Peter Little, etc.) Dr. Cawo, I have never read the works of Catherine Besteman, but I will explore it in the future. Thanks for this informative article on the #CadaanStudies controversy. Catherine L. Besteman Francis F. Bartlett and Ruth K. 4. Nin Yaaban, you don't want all Somalilanders to become 'state zombies" do you? A healthy society should have internal and open debate or else our young fledgling republic (Somaliland) risks becoming a North Korea where regular citizens can't eat dinner without the President's permission. lol Saalax has refused to drink Siilaanyo's Cool Aid. I see maturity and level-headedness in much of Saalax's critique about Siilaanyo's government.
5. I don't agree with her American exceptionalism nonsense and I am sure many Africans would be offended by her misguided statement about USA being the best place to be black.
6. It was a big mistake for the president to take side on this sad conflict. I guess the Arab financiers of his Damuljadiid political part was going to cut him off if he didn't show visible support.
7. lol@siilaanyo doesn't have sons. I thought Hersi was his son.
8. lol@song. Carabtu heeso xumaa horta.
9. ^Subhanalah. The Houthis are targeting the wrong people.
10. This is a serious allegation. If Siilaanyo's son died trying to inflict harm onto innocent people in a neighbouring state, Siilaanyo has truly failed the people of Somaliland. Even if the son went rogue, it is indicative of a failure as a leader both at home (family) and in politics.
11. I honestly believe Siilaanyo is too old to lead Somaliland. How he got an extension to prolong his time in office baffles me.
12. MOGADISHU: Dozens of Yemeni refugees fleeing the fighting and Saudi-led airstrikes in Yemen have arrived in the northern parts of Somalia, local officials and the U.N. said Tuesday. At least 32 Yemenis arrived by sea in the northern breakaway area of Somaliland and the semiautonomous Puntland region Saturday, according to the U.N. refugee agency. Some 12 Yemeni families arrived at Berbera port on the Gulf of Aden after traveling from Yemeni’s third largest city of Taiz, where warplanes had carried out strikes targeting the Houthi rebels, Omar Abokor, the deputy manager of Somaliland’s Berbera port, told reporters Tuesday. The arrival of the Yemenis is in stark contrast to the usual flight to Yemen of hundreds of Somalis escaping violence and poverty at home. Yemen hosts more than 238,000 Somali refugees, according to the U.N. refugee agency. Concerns were also being raised in Somalia over a potential backlash against Somali refugees in Yemen after the Somali government expressed support for the Saudi-led airstrikes against the Houthi fighters in Yemen. Somalia’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement last week that it stands by the Yemeni government in its war against the rebels. The Somali government’s decision to publicly support the assault on the Houthi rebels may endanger the lives of Somalis living in Yemen, said Hassan Abdullahi, a university lecturer in Mogadishu who studied in Yemen.

14. Ayan Hirsi is a fraud. She got caught in the Netherlands for making things up just to further her political career. She lacks credibility.
15. owever, Somalis are not alone in their exploits in Africa businesses. A number a countries have seen a large increase in Ethiopian, Eritrean and Chinese traders. The fact that Ethiopians are picking up the game is little worrying. Are these Amharic/Tigre speaking? I don't think I have ever seen media or others talking about Ethiopians being competitive in business anywhere in Africa. Hopefully the reference above is to Somalis carrying Ethiopian passport.
16. I have few questions for the guys who run this so-called academic journal 1. Before you launched this journal, have you made a genuine attempt to find qualified Somalis to add to your team? 2. Will you make the necessary changes now that this issue has been brought to your attention? Great work Safferz for spearheading the campaign to highlight an issue which has been ignored for so long.
17. Wonderful work Safferz. This is the kind of activism that makes a tangible difference.
18. leading a federal state is a hot career nowadays for Somali politians.
19. This is interesting. It is an escallation if sort
20. I think his demands of who can or cannot attend on behalf of SFG was over the top and out of line. I am not surprised the SFG is taking this hardline position.
