  1. So this thread is to let off steam and to vent about those little things that really annoy you. Okay first Tatoos Why on earth does every second person have some horrendous scribble up their arm, down their neck, across their thighs, on their fingers . Its not body art, its crap, really just get a framed picture of whatever you want to draw on yourself and hang it up. THEN WE DON'T HAVE TO SEE IT. Arrrgggghhhhh. Whenever something goes mainstream it quickly becomes naff, this is exactly what has happened with tatoos. Facebook Food i) Nobody cares what you had for breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner, hot drinks etc. I wish people would stop posting pics of what they are about to eat. Just eat it, it really isn't that interesting. The worst pic I had on my home feed was someone's treadmill monitor after they had finished on it. hahaha. Why do you think ppl would care? Ahhh. I feel better already. What things make you want to jump up and down in protest?
  2. ^ I have many wonderful ideas, I just need to build up my audience
  3. "waxaan kugu salaamay boqol iyo toban iyo afarta" Soooo true and something about the ayahs fo the quran. Hahaha, somalis are so similar. I remember getting cassettes back and they would seem to last fooorever
  4. How about we let adults choose who they decide to marry and how they look for their spouse and get on with our own lives.
  5. ^ I know, its a chance to get it all out! I remember on the recordings some different people would come on and say "This is so and so, if my son is listening, tell him we are thinking of him..." They really were powerful. Wyre thats amazing, ameen. Ng,thanks for the link.
  6. Making cassette recordings for family back home before telephone connections were widespread? I remember we used to record these tapes when someone we knew was going back home. Mum would buy a cassette, everyone would need to be quiet, there would be lots of throat clearing, before someone would press play and record together and in a solemn voice, BismillAllahi Rahamani Raheem, halkan waxa ka hadleysa...waxana la hadleysa... Haha. Then the, we are okay here, we hope and pray you are okay. I remember being asked to recite Quran on there once. Then you would get a lengthy reply back after months when a different person returned and everyone would sit around and listen to a far off, crackling voice talk about all manner of things. I would love to find one of these tapes. Ahhh, the good old days, does anyone else remember doing this or other things that we just don't do anymore.
  7. Obviously this is a newly wed couple otherwise there would be 5+ kids destroying the peace!

I don't think they care too much what you think of their looks. It would be better if she had stayed in the closet so people could debate her ideas rather than her sexuality.

I wonder who wrote her wiki page, it has some odd descriptions of her early life. Is the only way to get your voice heard by hating on your own community. She has some valid points about somali integration or lack of it but how does she propose to solve these issues.
  11. Ms Moon, may Allah bless your union sister. Raula gave you some good advice.
  12. Simply not funny, especially the fasting "joke"
  13. Please, if you are going bald, and if you suspect it you probably are, don't try to hide it, EVERYONE CAN SEE IT I ASSURE YOU. Don't be strange and get hair transplant (that's for people like Wayne Rooney, enough of an advert to stay away) PLEASE don't put things like garlic and honey on your head. haha. (I'm sure the guys were all taking the mick) Like some have advised, walk into a barbars and say goodbye to it all and hello to a new you. A clean look is so much better than a desperate, feeble attempt to save a few strands of hair. I am not sure there is a link between marriage and bidaar, if you give the girl enough reasons to want to spend her life with you, you having no hair won't overide them all. Stop thinking too much. Cheerio.
  14. A-mazing. Soooooooooooo pleased for him and for Jess Enis, what superstars. The pressure did not seem to faze them. Whoooooo. Go Mo.
  15. Has anyone got a link to these races?
  16. I wonder if the kids getting the autographs even know where Somalia is haha. Go team Som! Opening ceremony was great, would have been better with out all the interuptions to introduce ppl. I am so glad they included Mr Bean, how British can you get?!
  17. feeling I am not making the most of this blessed month and other ppl are! I find it easier to stay up after taraweh and go to sleep after fajr, I know I would NEVER wake up after 2 hours of sleep.
  18. ^ I don't think there are concerts in hell. There are somethings that even you Rudy cannot make a joke of. How do you know that the conciousness will sleep? What are you basing this on?
  19. ^ inshAallah the start of many similar victories. Now you need to begin planning their treat.
  20. Haha I've missed SOL, where madness thrives
  21. Chimera, Abwaan was talking about father figures, not role models. I don't think it matters if there are a thousand high achieving somalis on your street, if your father is absent, or not too concerned about your schooling, interest general day to day life it will affect you immensely. Positive role models are not a replacement for a present, engaged father. I think its fair to say that that is one of the issues @ work along with many others that help our young boys to go astray. I was really surprised at the treatment these kids were getting back home, a gentle introduction to life in Somalia haha, mch nicer than many previous dhann celis kids have had. I think after this period of rehabilitation its important to help them find a role in society, the money from mum and dad needs to dry up and they need to think about how to earn their keep.

I found that strange . This makes me wonder how old the brother is, he seems to have more than a little growing up to to. Telling someone how expensive everything you own is is one if the quickest way to gurantee a yawn.
  23. I only take offence to the fact that Richard Blackman is not remotely funny, whateva he is talkin about.
  24. For some reason I felt queasy when I saw this, it seemed everything in the pic was wrong, the standing up (who stands up to breast feed?) the chair, the woman's pose and the age of the boy. Everything about it is so unnatural when breast feeding seems the most natural, nurturing, private bond between a mother and her child. They were probably aiming for a arresting, controversial image and this is what they achieved, yes I think it is provocative but if that's what gets people talking...
