  1. Well, this responsibility of teaching their tradition and culture (hido iyo dhaqan) would have primarily fallen to their father. Having said that, take them to Soomaali gatherings, especially the Soomaali festivities and picnics, particularly the Kowda Luulyo (July 1st) celebrations. Let them wear traditional Soomaali clothes, which I assume you already are familiar. I don't know if there are any in Edmonton, though. I mean the picnics and festivities. Also teach them about the rich, deep history of Soomaalis and Soomaaliya. If you don't know that, information is at your fingertips on the net and try educating yourself, and then teach them what you've learned. Also try reading to them, the youngest ones especially, about traditional Soomaali stories, including Cigaal Shidaad. There are several books of Cigaal Shidaad in English. If you can't find any in English, let their father read to them in Soomaali language and explain to them what each story means and its background.
  2. Dankis, brother Sophist. See tahay, duqa. How is old Landhan treating you and the family? Cismaan had already being informed the site's rules and this will officially be his first warning. Cismaan, stop writing explicit clan names on this forum, baliis. I won't edit your posts next time.
  3. So now Soomaali Galbeed is "Itoobiya?" And so-called Dhalinyarada recognize that? 'Almujaahidiin' my back. Micnaha mujaahid maxaa loo gafay, oo dhiigyacab walba iska sheegto. Waa iska cawaan barbaar la brainwash gareeye ku shaqeysto, dhiigoodana jaraanjar ee siyaasad ku gaaraan ka dhigtaan. Tuulo baa hebel qabsaday iyo hebel laga bixiye, endless circle of it, is not governing Soomaaliya -- it is dhiig maati daadis, endless one is that.
  4. Kashafa, aflagaado ka gambasho lahayn wadaa, siiba inaa u gaftid qoyska uu ka dhashay iyo reerkiisa. Taas iyo wax lamid ah looma dulqaadan karo.
  5. Is that you, art?? Now I know the topic must be about the modern black gold and Bari region because art is in the thread. I didn't read the thread beside the title.
  6. Already 'luuq' aan kula galo maa ku dhahoysaa. "Looghey" kulahaa. Xumbana wuu kusii daray adiga yiri 'humbii.' Keysaneey inaa geysid maa rabtaa, 'keysaahey jii' qorayba. Shaxaarigaa taacun, war gabadha leerta sii hadda lee soo gishee. My sister, Eebba ha u naxariisto, Afurdu ku hadli jirtay. Reer Karachi ahaan jireen many siblings of mine, yet that sister was the only one who jacbursan jirtay afkaas Urdu.
  7. Waa qorsho fiican in lagu taageerana u baahan. Toogta dambe dumarka dhagaha la' qeybta hore hala soo giliyo see ula socdaan qudbada.
  8. Looks like a bit photoshopped picture. Laakiinse one more reason why I never decided to live Mareykanka, especially one of those redneck southern states. Jaahil dhaga iyo qoor gaduudan iskugu tagay meesha.

Alas, some are trying very hard to eradicate that beautiful hido iyo dhaqan of ours, particularly guntiinooyinka iyo gareysyada qurxoon in the name of dhaqamo kale.
  10. Dankis for sharing the link, sister. Hopefully Soomaali badan qabyaalad ku qafiifay would heed some of his waano.
  11. Originally posted by Kool_Kat: MMA, have you Googled the poor girl already? Bisinka! Well done on your homework... She was on this group pool page that I came across a while ago. That guntiino looks great, though.
  12. Just what the heck is on the left side of the plate? Indheheyga miyaa mise waa hilib ceyriin ah? Bahalkaas Soomaaliya lagama cuni jirin, and it is one of those frozen stuff, fruit ah. Macmacaan lagu sii daray u maleynaa. I had tasted that thing, magaciis ma aqaani though.

  14. Moos bariis iyo soor ama sabaayad ku macaanyahay. Baastada xataa kuma xumo in lagu cuno, but kuwaas ka horeeyaan. Oobis, I guess the sister can't read Soomaali. Eniwey, welkam to SOL. *Sigh* Caloosha i yeereyso, it is trying in futile to establish a communication with those dishes, methinks. Fresh canjeero iyo fresh beer with koob kuleel shaah caddeys ah. Xaax.
  15. Originally posted by Somalicentric: LOOOOL I didn’t necessarily mean those singers verbatim, but I meant in general. Btw I’m addicted to lafoole, that man can carry a tune in a bucket haha and there is NOTHING wrong with these new up and coming singers, they are easier to understand by folks like me who live in a Somali-free tuulo… but lately I have been listen to the qaraami version of every song they twisted… and jacaylbaro qosal baa iga kentay! Dabshid well said, i would kill for the music festival Came across this a while ago, so I assume it is your page. Not bad for a budding photographer.
  16. Haye maku soo daraa kuwa kale oo qoortana haku xanuuntee? Isgoysyada Kaasabalbalaare iyo Bakaaraha kuwa ah kusoo daraa mar kale. Ama jidadka Sodonka iyo Wadnaha.
  17. *Sigh* What an %$#@! comments that is above this post.
  18. Kuusha, haye Holt makuu wadaa, I can see dhareer kaa socdee. Teeda kalena barfuunkaan hoos ku yaalo waa jeceshahay la yiri xaaka jiro hee? Fak indeed. Originally posted by -MARX-: MMA, H&M is for hip and trendy people. Sorry Sxb but you dont strike me neither of those. For somebody who wears cheap, oversized, purple shades as sunglasses and on the top of that indoors, would be the last person to give fashion tips. Soori pal, but no dankis.
  19. Please try to make sources of your random threads of news -- as unreliable, and sensational as Soomaali news sites can be. It would be more interesting if you sourced your news, or if not, make it as your opinion. Inay opinionkaaga tahay iyo inay news tahay mala kala yaqaano.
  20. Umul has to appeal to his convinced followers, some of them Dhalinyarada's die-hard supporters. At the same time, dagaalkaan in uu macno lahayn qof walba u wada jeedo, qof la dhihi karana kaas saxsan, oo gar leh maleh. Dad Muslimiin dagaalamaayo, waxee u dagaalamayaan jirin badanaa. Umul is just another sheekh of many, though dad badan ayaa buunbuuniyo, oo si nabi camalna u dhuuqo his every word and his edicts without having a reasonable questions about them.
  21. Mahadaay is not a 'city'. Haddeeba a town tahay ayee nasiib leedahay. Soomaalis and their two-buul villages labelling them cities.

  23. I am reminded to bring back others as well, which was I previously posted on this forum. Ka naxoow nafta sii waa waligaaba, xaasid meel ma gaaree. Eebba ha idmo Xamar sideeda ayee kusoo noqonee. Xaasidka ha u dhinto mise haku sakaraado maqalkaas. The great suuq of Xamarweyne iyo boosteejada Ceelgaab
  24. Actually, Dabka, inaay as well loogu wacaa. Eedooyinka always had a bad rap, and never thought a song as negative as this was composed about them. Great song though. I like it.
  25. Su'aalooyin for you, before Shariifka aad eed aanan jirin ku eedeysid: Did Shariifka or his government start this latest round of fighting in Xamar? Did Shariifka not countless times sought and called a peaceful end of this quagmire of ours and who refused to heed his call, to even meet with him? Did Shariifka and his government facilitate by accepting and implementing shareecada in lagu dhaqmo, who was against that and still started this latest displacement in Xamar? He was begging them to stop the fight publically and talk face to face on anywhere. On BBC Soomaali. And his opponents thought he was in a weak position and laughed at his peaceful offer, was that not what a leadership was required from? And what exactly did you want him to do? Sit in his Filla Soomaaliya and wait the daily bombardment and do nothing? And before you write his predecessor did exactly like that, to fire back, this: What was listed and more policies, his predecessor did not try to forthcome, let alone implementing them. Calling him like his predecessor is injustice against the truth, the biggest being Xabashis are not in Xamar, whom his predecessor depended solely on. Any fair-minded person can see qofka dhibaatada iyo ibtilada maantadaan taagan wado. Being mucaarad for the sake of it, it is just tiresome, neither my way or the highway of seeing things. Waxaas inay Soomaali ka gudubtay moodaaye. Shariifka wax lagu dacaayadeeyo lama weynaayo, which I reserve my own; however let it be wax macquul ah, oo caqligal ahna.
