  1. I think whether federalism stays or not, one thing all Somalis need to ask themselves is have our fortunes changed for the better since the formation mini-states? It is more than clear the federal states can't deliver anything, not even the basic services, can't defend the country and is easily manipulated. We need devolution with strong central government. Whatever we do, issues of defense, foreign affairs, economic and monetary management and internal security should be in the hands of the federal government. The federal states need to be democratized too and the demography of each region should be reflected in each government and by that I mean, for instance, there is huge population of R-weyne family in Puntland, they represent large chunk of the residents in Bosaso, Galkayo and many towns, that population should be represented in Pland parliament and municipalities. Same thing should be replicated everywhere.
  2. Yoniz, Foreign issues are under purview of the federal executive branch, That;s very clear. Whether the Federal Government is wrong or right is beside the point. We can't have federal states pushing the agenda of foreign powers and undermining Somali sovereignty. These states could have expressed their displeasure in private or through the federal parliament.. Listen to Xaaf: http://www.caasimada.net/dhageyso-madaxweyne-xaaf-oo-sheegay-inuu-imaaraadka-u-tagay-sidii-uu-lacag-usoo-heli-lahaa/ He and others are flagrantly undermining the central government hence Somali sovereignty You need to see the big picture!!,
  3. It does not matter if Somalis adopt federalism or unitary system. As long as they don't respect the constitution or the law of the land, nothing will move forward.
  4. Hello Blue, Nothing interesting happening, just being beaten by daily things. I hope that wasn't too depressing, But overall things are good. I like Holac's contrived outrage. Perhaps Galbeedi can tell Holac the Somalia of 70s and 80s, I like Farah, he's natural comedian.
  5. We are no longer giants, just mukulaalo hissing at each other, Somalis in the past from from Ajarun empire, Geledi, Sheikh Barsane, Adal and Dervishes resisted Abyssinia and Oromo masses expansionism. We, now, have Somalis expressing pride in being Ethiopia's lapdogs. Personally, I hope this subsides. The Horn cannot afford ME like chaos or Rwanda like genocide. The real enemy is the small circle of the TPLF elites. They will use any means to stay in power and when the end comes, they want other ethnics to turn on each other. I was once listening to audio by Faysal Waraabe, he is out there but he does speak the truth every now and then. He talked about Somalis in Hargeysa. He noted the Somalis will fight over a plot of land but they will never say anything to an Oromo. War masaakiinta iska daaye is their motto. I hope no harm comes to Oromos in Somali regions ( from personal experience, I know what happens when neighbors turn on each other, it is not pretty) but the massacre and vitriol against Somalis is mindbogglingly.
  6. I was astonished by their level of hatred and brutality towards Somalis. Maybe this is a wake-up for Somalis. Help understand about the Jaarso, why did they opted for Oromo region in the first place?
  7. This is funny. I was talking to fellow southerner the other day. He was accusing reer Waqooyi of bringing jaad and qabyaalad among other vices to the South. I guess it is easy to blame others for your shortcomings. But that said he does want to visit Somaliland and other Somali lands. In any case, the southerners have been busy with each other for the last the 30 years. Still, the north does not seem to rid itself of "southern bad habits:. The North is still poor and dusty, tribal in nature and their leaders corrupt to the core. Regarding the British administration in the North, considering the amount of resources and man power the British invested in fighting the Dervishes, the idea that their admin was hands off is simply tol talk, simple self deception or outright lie. You are confusing British benevolence towards collaborating clans with independence. A bit of history about the South, The Italians had a direct control only over Banadir. In other parts of the south, they simply entered treaties with sultanates and local clans. That changed with the rise of fascism. The fascists changed the strategy. They sent the fascist governor Cesare Maria De Vecchi who was tasked with disarming the Somalis and bring all of the South under one administration. The fascist broke the treaties with MJ sultanates. The MJ revolted and Italians retreated in order to regroup. The Italians suffered initial setbacks in Dharoor valley, Eyl, Hobye, etc. They finally captured MJ territories by having their warships bombard all the MJ coastal towns and villages. They captured Hobyo and moved inland. The MJs were defeated by 1927 and their leaders exiled. The last battle was at Iskushuban where the fascists sent a large force. The fascists used brute force in order to avoid the embarrassment of Adwa battle. Sheikh Hassan Barsane started another revolt in the South. Before he started fighting the fascist Italians, Sheikh Barsane only fought the Ethiopian expansionist. He defeated the Ethiopian expansionists at the battle of Gumar Shabeel and put an end to their misadventures into Somalia. He started a campaign against the fascists. He fought at Bulo Barde, Ceeldheer, the entire Shabelle and Hiran regions. The Biyamaal also revolted but they and Dervishes were spent forces by the fascists arrived. The Italian fascists put down all Somali resistance with brute force as they considered Italian Somaliland as their jewel colony. The administrative structure was setup largely to control the Somalis, protect Italian farms and help settle the large influx of Italians. The Italians started a process of assimilation by educating would be Somali administrators,a process I imagine took place in every European colony. The Somalis of the South fought and resisted Italian fascism. The fascists had to build a state structure in order control them.
  8. The girl is rocking it-original Somali twerking, that was funny. Holac, how old are you? That's sincere question.
  9. Suldaanka do you honestly believe Iley and Liyu Police act on their own? Nothing is done without the permission of TPLF Generals. Gen. Abraha Woldemariam ran the Somali Region like his personal fiefdom. Iley is a merely puppet, a brutal one and gift to TLPF and its army. Gen Masho, Abraha's replacement, is no different. No paramilitary force in the Somali and Oromo Regions will act on their own. The TPLF will encourage and tolerate these activities as long as it distracts the restlessness young Oromos. The TPLF understands the Somali psyche. If a Liyu force kills civilians in Galgaduud, the leader of the force will mostly like be someone from D-block. If they kill anyone in Gedo, the leader will likely be from H or Dir Blocks. Somalis don't look beyond the obvious and TPLF counts on that simple fact. Liyu's most victims are OGs. Salaax, I understand you are going with this, dead Somali is a dead Somali. How Somalis from different regions view such acts is at this point irrelevant,
  10. I would hope you stop using the term Somalilander for Ethiopians or their Abyssinian precursor see all Somalis one and the same. Somalis are confused a lot who can't see the big picture. Political differences no matter how deep or painful should not blind us from seeing the larger threat facing all Somalis. We have no brothers and no friends. The sooner we understand that the better it will be for the Somali nation, a big force to be reckon with should they decide to stop the current insanity. AUN intii dhimatay,
  11. Oodweyne, I don't think I ever asked you this, what's your vision of the future Somalia? I assume you would want to see stable Somalia one day. Let's not focus on today's leadership or soomaalinimo, just what you hope the future Somalia to look like?
  12. The cruel and immoral action aside, Farmajo is not even good politician. A lot times politics is about optics. He and Somalia gained no political capital.
  13. Che -Guevara

    stunning

I hope everything goes well, and no machetes come out.
  14. It's sad reer Soomaaligalbeed or any Soomaali is literally not safe in any Somali land.
  15. Majority of Somalis were/are facing difficult times, mass starvation, mass massacre, relentless droughts, terrorism, piracy and no central state. We can't use history to negate the current realities.. Almost thirty years on with benefits of peace and political stability, how could such poverty be stone throw away from the center of power? And who should be held accountable for the lack of economic and social progress?
  16. The secessionists need to make their mind, I thought the union was already dissolved. Let's hope she's actually calm enough to talk.
  17. God bless Ali Khalif!!! And for those who want to provoke war...it has been close to 30 since this Sland thing, perhaps money would better spent on those who really need them.
  18. https://messengerafrica.com/2017/07/12/controversy-over-proposed-ethiopian-law-aiming-to-change-capitals-status/ Would this help in calming Oromo or accelerate their demands for self-determination? And how would the Amara react?
  19. Blockade was ill-conceived and badly implemented. And with Trump busy with Russian inquiry, Salman Jr bit more than he could chew. I am glad Farmajo chose to not be linked to amateur show.
