  1. Funny guy but also honest.
  2. Puntland has the unfortunate reality being bordered by secessionists who at the very least give pass to terrorists and anarchists who don't seem understand peaceful coexistence means.
  3. Iran has no ambition of invading Saudi Arabia let alone capturing Mecca and Medina. It is a scare tactic used by illegitimate House of Al-Saud aided by their new Zionist friends. Iran does not have the desire or means to wage such huge war. They know the limits of their power and carry their lessons learned from Iraq-Iran war. If anything is a threat to the Muslim world, it is petro-dollars of Al-Saudi and the insane fanatical ideology of Ala-Sheikh clan. Their centuries old alliance is about power and control of the Sunni world. And if anybody has deep-seated religious, it is the Salafis who labelled Shi'ite Muslims as heretics.
  4. Say what you may about Iran but it is a country with stated goals and reasonable foreign policy, It does not act on whims of self-indulgent despotic monarchs. It has a strategic goals and they are tactically better than Arab despots. On contrary to what many believe, Iran would actually like a stable Middle East where there is open movement of people and goods. It is willing to sit down if Arabs accept Iran is regional power and it is here to stay. Everything that Arabs have done or supported have came to fail, it is time for new approach and such approach would have to include Iran,

    Happy Eid

    Ciid Mubarak to all.
  6. Gooni, the violence and aggression is one-sided. I don't think reer Galmudug understand coexistence and compromise. They conflate Puntland's willingness to make peace with weakness. And unfortunately, there are no political or traditional institutions that can implement things that do agree to.
  7. Puntland Galmudug Agreement I am surprised they agree on this let alone anything else. I give this few days. Hopefully, I will be proven wrong. In si nabad ah loo wada daaqo Naqa, ayadoo loo fududeynayo dadka reer Galmudug ee abaarsan in ay soo galaan dhulka Naqu ka da’ay ee Puntland, si taas loo hirgaliyana waxaa laysla gartay. http://hobyonet.com/2017/06/20/dhagayso-dhamaan-qudbadihii-laga-jeediyay-hashiiska-gaalkacyo-ku-dhex-maray-puntland-iyo-galmdug/
  8. LOL So Ali Khalif pulled Xaglatoosiye What a farce,
  9. If these maps are correct, the Somali expansion was amazingly fast and substantial. No wonder Oromos claim many parts of Somalia.
  10. This Government has its limitations. The only way to defeat these people is to find their sources of revenue and for the public to join the fight and not have clans protecting their respective Alshabab members. No one can help society that does not want to help its self, no one will mourn a society that does not mourn for its own. All we need to join this fight for sake our children and our country. Somalis have no friends or brothers. We are on our own. No one will fight for you.
  11. Saudi Arabia toys with Somalis. They allow or reject Somali exports depending on their feelings. It is not permanent market. We need to find new markets or reform the industry by producing dairy products, leather, animal skin rags, etc.
  12. UAE has most leverage over Somalia. I wonder if they will stay with Saudi Arabia to the very end and give up their strategic ambition of securing Somali ports?
  13. Somalia turns down $80m to cut ties with Qatar. I don't know credible this website is. https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20170612-somalia-turns-down-80m-to-cut-ties-with-qatar/#.WT7Gcut-3G1.facebook

  16. These short-term alliances shift like sands in Arabia. It is better to stay clear if you are not in position to defend yourself politically, militarily and economically. The Saudis made a short-term tactical move but strategically, this is a blunder. They overplayed their hand and the limits of their power is clear for everybody to see. They are no Iran. They along with American neocons and right-wingers in Israel need to accept Iran has a say what happens in ME. Sensible Muslim countries have avoided their trap. Pakistan, the only nuclear-armed Muslim country, decided to stay neutral. They have their own sectarian problem with minority Shia problem, Taliban and Balochi separatists on Iran border. They have the Kashmir issue, but more importantly, they are part of China's new silk road project with port at Gawder, billions of Chinese money in transportation infrastructure, power plants, etc. Pakistan is focusing its energy in defending these resources. They are no longer as dependent on Saudi Arabia as they used to be. Besides, Pakistanis realized Saudis lack the basic understanding of war and diplomacy. Saudi Arabia is not entrenched state like Iran with institutions. The Saudis are stuck in Yemen. [the generals conducting the Yemen war are Pakistanis; it is said they told Saudis the war is futile but the younger Salman is hell bent on continuing war]. Kuwait and Oman are on side lines. The Saudis have no influence in Iraq and the money put into destabilizing Syria is not paying off. Even Dubai is weary of the Saudis [it is Abu Dhabi that is openly siding with the Saudis]. As for Somalia, they made a good decision. I hope they stick with it. The only Arab entity that heavily invested in Somalia is Dubai Emirate. I don't really seem them punishing Somalia as they are in serious competition with China in buying ports along the new silk road. Xasan Sakiin is in Dubai to hand over Barawe Port. The last time Somalia went along with a Saudi plan, they were promised 50 million dollars to break ties with Iran. That money was never paid. Somalis should widen their search for partners and not depend on Gulf nations. And as weak as we are at the moment, it is good to exercise your sovereignty when you can, it is amazing how the behavior of others change when they say put up some fight. A Qatari delegation was in Xamar today. Qataris must understand they can no longer support terrorists in Somalia., Apparently Saudi Arabia did send a delegation as well. They offered Somalia 80 million dollars, but Somalia turned it down.
  17. Saudis could barely defeat the Houthis let alone invade Qatar. Saudi Arabia is family run enterprise with no solid state institutions. Obviously Qatar has no military but it does have money and some friends. I think Saudis overplayed their hand thinking Donald Duck will back them all the way. It was good to see Somalia is staying out of this mess. Hopefully they won't change their mind.
  18. Over fifty men were killed in early morning raid, While security forces can take on AS, the war against AS cannot be won without the support and cooperation of the citizens and this is true for all of Somalia.

  21. The Somaliland Government should squash these sort of militias if they are created by any given clan. Of course, one prefers peace first. I remember Galan dude in Puntland using his clan as cover for for his own agenda. Gas should have never sit down with him. He should have crushed him and if Ali S wanted to be mooryaan, then they deserved whatever was coming to them. Tolerating that idiocy led to the fall of Qandala to religious moryan from the same clan.
  22. @Tallaabo said: The Ethiopians are going to be the main customers of the port. Without the huge landlocked Ethiopian market next door the Arabs would not be investing in Berbera. Moreover, as the Ethiopian cargo traffic to Berbera increases, more and more other international shipping lines will also come to Berbera making it a transit and trading hub. The Ethiopians are merely clients with no ownership rights unless they have invested in the port, in which case they will partners just like DP World.. The only thing that they are entitled to is the expectation that Ethiopian imports going directly to Ethiopia won't taxed apart from infrastructure maintenance expenses as stipulated in the laws regarding the access to seas.
  23. So, they essentially lied to the public? Have the Ethiopian actually invested in Berbera Port? If they did under some bilateral negotiation, that's understandable and in essence perfectly legal. But if there is no such agreement in place, this is violation of sovereignty or the very least abuse power and corruption by the elites. I have never heard a transit state having to pay a land-locked state for the use of its ports. Under international laws regarding access to the sea, a transit state cannot impose tariffs on goods that travel directly to the land-locked state. There is one exception and that the transit state can impose fees that will cover the cost of maintaining infrastructure. But nowhere does it say a land-locked state can share profits from transit ports unless there is explicit agreement which bring back to the question, what have Ethiopians invested in Berbera Port? Or is there comprehensive agreement includes customs agreements? I wonder what's in Bosaso agreement?
