  1. OG-Girl, Suicide bombings don't solve anything. If anything, they worsen their condition. I'm sorry, I support these countries that are fighting for theirs, but I can not and will not support anything that is OBVIOUSLY that haram. Besides, I don't see how a young man strapped with bombings blowing up buses filled with civilians and kids really solves anything??? Edited to add: This is what suicide bombs does to people: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=514&e=1&u=/ap/20040930/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq_040930141903

  3. LMAO. What's wrong with feminism anyway? It only seems to me that MEN always seem to have a problem with feminism, because God Forbid...a woman taking charge and living large is such a "ludicrious" idea. So I will just let all the men congregate in this topic and freak out about a friggin department that educates people on women's rights, history and milleniums of oppression. The sexism stops here!!
  4. Nino Brown, "little westernized girls"? I'm sorry, last time I checked, it is the Somali brothas in North America who are getting themselves into trouble. Not girls. The sexism stops here! <--that should be my new motto
  5. Suicide= haram Killing civilians= haram Suicide bombings kill the person with carrying the bomb and civilians. Therefore, suicide bombings are haram. Sounds simple doesn't it.
  6. If they choose to sell stuff containing haram ingredients, then that is really between them and Allah. However, a muslim should not shop from a halal store blindly. You have to constantly read ingredients before you put stuff in your mouth. You have to be smart about these things. Is it just me who reads the back of products to check for content or do others do that as well?
  7. Maybe I'm just cynical today, but why would you want either? I wouldn't want someone I can so easily take advantage of, or someone who does not respect you enough to attempt to control you as if you were a child.
  8. No offense, but there is a topic just like this one being discussed just last week. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

Are you saying that in order to be a "true" Somali lady, you have to wear dirac? And if they don't wear dirac, does that make them less than a Somali? I didn't realize that Somalis placed so much value into superficial stuff
  10. They put him on the Watch list because he donated money to Muslim charities. Gee, he also donated money to the 9/11 funds...why didn't he get deported for that? Such atrocities..... Another official said the department is "extremely confident in the information" which "without a doubt" is credible. Officials will not say which charities are involved. Without a doubt?

  13. This type of regulation is susceptible to corruption, don't you think? And how exactly would they regulate it? In accordance to the Islamic laws --where 4 people have to be eye-witnesses--present while the 2 individuals are "engaged" in the act? I hardly doubt they will follow those specific procedures! And I can see how a woman will be the most ostersized (sic) because she is the only one that can carry one-half of the evidence (in her womb)...so then will they publicly stone/whip/behead her before they try to find who fathered her "illegitimate" child? etc etc etc
  14. Well in Canada, they had a good system going where they colour-code the restaurants according to cleanliness, and they post it at the doors. I do miss that! I stay clear of Coney Islands, and sometimes the Chinese restaurants in my neighborhood --Unless I'm really really hungry and I want to stuff my face Then I don't care!
  15. No, I can hold it in for 12 hrs or more!!!!
  16. If giving my true and honest opinion is nitpicking, well then I have surely mastered it!!
  17. "Another field where Muslim women are needed is law. Marriage, divorce, custody of children, and inheritance are all issues which directly affect Muslim women, and for which they will rarely find a Muslim advocate. There is a need for sisters who know Islamic law and the local law to help Muslim women deal with issues like these with sincere, sound advice, as well as sympathetic support." There is a need for law in all aspects of our lives, to help those less advantaged in the law arena, and that is not restricted to family-oriented fields as mentioned above. How about business law, immigration law, international law, civil/human rights law? Women are needed in all these fields....... Like I said, the article was well-intentioned, but it just didn't speak to me. Maybe it can inspire another sister, who knows.
  18. Are you saying that we should not pursue other areas of education? And that its the evilest thing one can do?
  19. Way to go CAIR and Florida! Now they just have to work on the voting poll issue.......
  20. You cook one day after work, and complain? LMAO, and they say men are physically stronger than us!

After all, that is where the wealth of knowledge of our religion is located.

I would like me and my hubby to be as educated as we could possibly be. If he has a BS/BA, MBA, JD,MD,ETC....its good enuff to be frankly honest. Do you know how much education costs these days? don't get me started on that one.... but in either case, it's a non-issue.
  23. I think I get the premise of this article. Muslims are supposed to be ONE UMMAH. Therefore, this group (following the 1 ummah concept) feel guilty by association. The problem with this is that we are not in fact really ONE UMMAH. Ideally we are supposed to be, but by practice we are not. We have so many divisions between us(ideologically, ethnically, culturally, geographically, politically, etc etc etc). Therefore, a muslim who is a moderate and pacifist and lives in a first/second world country does not follow the same ideologies as someone who lives in a politically unstable area. Therefore, how can over 1 billion muslims be blamed for the wrong doings of a disfunct group of muslims????? I would not apologize to anyone with one happened, because I was not responsible nor to I agree with terrorist methods; methods like beheading, hijacking, suicide bombing, no matter what they are trying to acheive politically.
