  1. ^LMAO There were parents (I believe Swidish) who wanted to name their kid superman. and the officials said no. If these kids were allowed to keep their names, they would be forever traumatized!
  2. Ok, so many of us lead busy lives, and we might not be home at afur time. My question to you is, where and how do you break your fast? 4 days out of the week, I have classes or a meeting at afur time. The first day was a trip. I was sitting in a small classroom and couldn't leave the class because the teacher was discussing something pertaining to our exam. I had an aluminum foil with cookies and Sour Cream and Onion chips in my bag. Problem is, it made so much noise that I really couldn't eat. And the class ended at 9 p.m.!!!! I learned my lesson and the next day I just bought M&Ms and pop. Well, that's my story. What's yours?
  3. ^ ever think that maybe you just know. That is the thing with dreams. Besides, I heard that if you see the Prophet's face, than it is his true face.

  5. why should they different type of physical test? Because physical tests are man-made and subjective. But obviously, you are steadfast in your sexist ways, so I'm not gonna bother with you. QQ, Yes, History does tell the story from a man's POV...all the time. Should it be the women's fault that men are so sexist in nature?
  6. Who cares about gold!! I'm thinking mad oil!!!
  7. Either the head of the Intelligence department or an ambassador.
  8. Drafting is a bad example. No one wants to be drafted...men or women. There are women that want those positions but the "american" army does not allow them. They are still set back in their ways. Sure, why not. Nowadays, you don't really need physical strength as much, but more of endurance and intelligence (which women are definately not lacking). I don't know much about the American army to comment but I do know there are female soldiers (what their roles are, I can't specify).
  9. So u think women should be combat soldiers too?? They already are.
  10. Nothing wrong with feminism: to seek equal rights amongst genders. The way I see it, men are the ones perpretrating the whole "lesbian" concept. And Qac Qac, we already learn about men's history..or shall I say His-tory
  11. Originally posted by Politically-Inclined: one official call to prayer would be broadcast live from one central Cairo mosque five times a day, and that it would be carried simultaneously by the 4,000-plus mosques and prayer halls across the capital. I think this is a good idea. The adan goes off once, and everyone in the city hears it once. Hence, the one "ummah" concept. Its syncronized and organized. Egypt is on the right track with this.
  12. Originally posted by Viking: Somali politics is so clan-based that I have difficulty sympathising with any individual or group. So true. I think true success lies in de-claning the parliament. But I don't think that will ever happen in Somalia.
  13. Originally posted by Bambina: I still remember when my own cousin refused to let me borrow one of her shirts or even got tensed because I sat one her bed. Sounds like she has a phobia. In any case, we shouldn't be going around judging people without knowing all the information. At the same time, we shouldn't be trying to "force" people to answer our questions because most often than not, you will get a wrong answer.
  14. Not to get too political, but is anyone else excited at Somalia finally having a new president? Think of the opportunities!!! I don't know, I think this is a really good thing, and I hope to God that it is not temporary!
  15. Ramadan Kareem, SOL! May your fasting be easy on you this month!
  16. I would say no one's opinion is worth more than your own. Besides, nowadays, people's attention span is quite shot. I wouldn't expect that much outta people, unless you had to go all out to grab and hold their attention by tailoring to their lack of attentiveness. Or maybe you should just get a life?
  17. Empathize and sympathize? No. More like be civilized!! Does that deserve a burning at the stake as well? We talk like animals when we say things like burning people alive...its barbaric and unislamic!
  18. Why R&B? There is nothing I hate more than a sappy R&B song Sorry for crashing this thread, but it had to be said.
  19. Originally posted by silent-sistah: they should be put on a secluded island and burnt alive...no ****in' mercy for the bloodi faggs. Extreme, don't you think? THe things we say......

Gaasira, Sorry about that you weren't able to get the job. Inshallah you will find a better job that will appreciate your skills than this company. I don't know what this man's motive was. Maybe he was judging you because of your skills or for the fact that you are a Somali. That information we might never know. However,Some might not be right for the job because they lack honesty and somehow manage to make things political. Some even find ways to cheat the system for their immigrants clients. I have people in my family who have degrees in Social work but refuse to work in these centers because they don't want to get involved in that. I personally wouldn't place trust in a person that I was not fimiliar with, not because of their credentials, but because they happen to be "Somali". Not because I dont want to help, but because in the end, I really just dont KNOW that person and their work ethics, and they might be the reason of my downfall.
  22. I wonder if they are collecting the money in a professional way. $100,000s is a big junk to be messing around with. If they are being professional and keeping records and documents of the money coming in and out, why don't they hire an independant auditor or something? These are just hypotheticals as there is not enough information for us to be coming to the wrong conclusions. Personally, I would not be entrusting alot of money to an organization/mosque that is not dealing in a "professional" manner. Just cause I'd like to know where my money is going.
