I think Haatu has a great point. We always join the band wagon to push out Somali leaders who are maneuvering complicated issues. I include myself the guilty part, although my main intension is to make them accountable. You need a continuous leadership to affect change.
This sister in the video is out of order. Of course he may have contradicted himself by not understanding the mechanizations of regional and world powers, that does not mean he is happy with the outcome. You can not ask the moon and expect to be delivered. Before screaming, there are few things that must be considered:
1- Just like Holac pointed out , the guarantor of this agreement is none other than Ethiopia. which shows the mistrust of brothers who needed a foreign power to sort out their problems.
2- In this agreement all the powers that are running Somalia at this stage were present. We are all well aware that no Somali leader would dare to go against the wishes of those who pay their salaries. It is only fair. The Puntland forces who defeated Al-Shabaab two weeks ago are paid and equipped by the international community, including it's special anti terror forces. ,
Poor dear leader was trying to please both sides, but the demand of Puntlanders is out of touch with realty of today.
3- Our leaders lied to us by presenting themselves as elected leaders of Somalia, but the fact is they are selected to oversee the country in this transitional period of recovery. Maybe we misunderstood, but clearly the international community said long ago in 2012, that they will be guiding the Somali road map for certain period of time. We may have President, Ministers or soldiers, but all of them are assisted , guided and paid by the international world , including Amisom. Their Hotels, flights, and food are all been taken care off.
Even President Hassan Sheekh , few months ago said that " we will have a true government controlled by as in the next election". THat is not true either. We have to stop the illusion of independent Somalia and wait another four years.

Those who were plotting against Abdiweli are looking excuses to push him or weaken him in the next stage of power struggle. . There is what the scientists call a "critical mass", to affect change or change the way people conduct their affairs ,, you need more people who are thinking like you. The business community in Awdal and Hargeisa have done a great job to reach out in the hard hit area around the coastal area. The Awdal diaspora around the globe also has raised a lot of funds and sent the money to the " Gudiga Abaaraha".
There were some help from the government. Few trucks with food and water has arrived, but they did not set up an emergency personal to coordinate the effort, Although I heard that Waran cadde and Zaylici will be heading a drought council.
One thing I can say is that the people of Somaliland have done much better than the government. Women groups, youths, businessmen and regular people have contributed a lot.
Finally this issue of drought in the coastal area and rural lands will be a constant issue unless we change the way people live. Our people in the horn of Africa are living the way people lived for two thousand years ago. You can not sustain life in semi arid hot Savanah area without irrigation and the creation of artificial lakes and reservoirs to hold water. These Coastal people must move closer to the ocean and learn how to fish and build permanent communities. They faced these same issues just four years ago in 2012.
Ecologically the land, the livestock and people are connected in the cycle of life. If you keep cutting trees, raping the land, then the land will be dead . Then the animals will follow , and when you loose the basic livestock that is sustaining your life , you will be dead next. That is what happening today. Fire wood is the biggest environmental disaster in the country side. The poor nomad makes pennies , but he kills life for himself and his animals.
In northern Ethiopia and other countries, nomads were removed and forced to communes , where people and their lives are put together in permanent villages where they can be farmers , small businesses and small life stock for milk, butter and meat for these towns. Rather than the scattered nomadic life of rooming non stop. The Somalis rejected and some of the Oromo's resisted the Communes.
To achieve this, you need a progressive leaders and strong state to change how life is sustained in the Somali lands of today.
Last Friday The Awdal Community In Alberta collected some money for the drought relieve. I told The guys: " rather than just send the money and keep feeding people , let us urge the local drought council that they should use this money to rent Riggs and dig deep water wells in the hard hit area. In the long term , it could help more than just buy rice and oil as usual.
The Somali habited land is dying. Last year , a friend of mine travelled fro Addis to Borama , then to all the way to Boosaaso. He said from Addis the land is greener and fertile until you reach the land surrounding Jigjiga. The zone five is dry and grey. As you cross closer to the boarder, it is even worse with drought. That was last summer. In the north east the higher mountain elevation of Sanaag are still good and heathy , but the law land are dry.
Some of you have seen the news about Shabeelle river, and we are still arguing about our own enclaves. If we do not get change for the better in the coming years, May Allah help us.

The leaders of this boys are evil and cruel. Taking boys from far away as Bay and using to destabilize Puntland. It is sad. On the other hand, Watching these and other clips , I noticed one thing.
The so called Al-Shabaab does not have deep ideological foundation to stand or even succeed in the future. They prey among the most venerable youth and boys to use as human shield of destruction. Another important factor is, in south central Somalia Al-Shabaab is protected and tolerated. What happened in Puntland is a great example of the population rejecting and refusing to harbour killers. The people of the south must follow this example.
They do not have ideology or even faith driven members. While the leaders might have some deep seated fanaticism, the larger members are just unemployed and idle youth from country side. What you need is after the liberation of villages and towns, these boys must be rehabilitated.
I think this so called Al-Shabaab has found a vacuum to fill. In the absence of national government without a national strategy and outlook, even sinister group can create their own gang. Truly , if we could find someone capable, there might be a hope that this could be reversed.
The Somali state in early seventies without huge money or NGO help brought orphans all over the country and cared for them,. Certainly This NGO Government could do the same with the help their NGO patrons.

Haradheere is controlled by C/kariim Damujadiid. According to these kids, they boarded trucks from Hiiraan and other places .
One thing is clear, these so called regions of Galmudug and Djiboutian and Amisom controlled Hiiraan are lawless places of tribal anarchy. Al-Shabaab is operating openly without anyone harassing them.
The strategy was probably to enter Puntland without notice and cause havoc. The Damjadiid allied Galmudug let them loose without notifying Puntland.

Puntland has eliminated the Al-Shabaab threat for now. This was a total effort by the people and their soldiers united. There were no ambiguity about who the enemy was. I am glad another Somali province is save today.
On the other hand, I am heart broken by the pictures of these innocent boys. Some are even 1o years old boys. Some probably would have joined this group just to wear that green army sweater. They have no school to go , food to eat and clothes to wear. Al-Shabaab is the only organized authority that is crisscrossing the country side and small town. They were looking a sense of belonging , and this is the only gang in town that gives them some kind belonging.
They are bombing and killing us, and in return, we are killing them equally.
Sidan hadday ku socoto waan isku dhamaanaynaa. We are destroying one another, while Culusow is working to manipulate the next election. We see bogus soldiers marching while his bedroom is protected by Ugandan soldiers.
We need a way to minimize and finally stop these reciprocal destruction of our youth and citizens, In restaurants, hotels and on the battle field . The time has come to change the course and get new ways of dealing this threat both in terms of strength and reconciliation. The foreign fighter equation of Al-shbaab must be separated from the local extremists.
Suicide belts, laptop bombs, car bombings and other sophisticated ways of destruction is the work of foreign elements. For the terrorists from abroad the Somali death is an stepping stone for their wicked agenda or just collateral damage. Somalis can not even wire a battery. We must sit with Mukhtar Robow and others while marginalizing those with foreign connections. I do not have all the angels , but we can not continue the same road. To achieve new goals , we need a new leadership.
The NGO led government must finish it's term and leave the way for a new leadership. If we do not change, expect another four years of death and mayhem. Do not be fooled by the staged pictures of the false army of Culusow. For the sake of these Somali kids things must change.

That corrupt general will collect and pocket the salary himself few more months before he was caught.

As far as Al-Shabaab war , it looks like Puntland government and people have united to fight. My instinct is they will eventually move to Galgala and Golis mountain range. Sheekh Atom with small bands fought their many years. If they are allowed to settle Galgala, they may infiltrate Boosaaso and cause bombings.
Another threat is Al-shbaab had always been awash with money, so they may target the unemployed youth in Sanaag and Bari to create problems. Puntland must finish them off before they reach Galgala.

In 2007, The TNG with help of Ethiopia took over Kismaayo and surrounding area. According to the leaders of Al-shbaab , they said " Afar billod oo dhan waan kaadi tegi kari weynay". They could not venture outside due to the constant Drone and American air force over their head. Six months after, those same guys who could not pee outside the tick jungle, were paying monthly salary for their fighters.
I am very suspicious of these open movements of this huge number of people. I hope this is not the relocation of anarchy by the powers that be. I hope.

This could be the total relocation of huge segments of Al-Shabaab. The American Drone attack last week could have been a devastating blow for Al-Shabaab. 150 members in one location is a huge lose for the extremists. I believe that certain leaders of the gang are on the run. Either for self preservation or split within Al-Shabaab. Remember , the organizational skill, the operation masterminds and the ruthless purging within the leadership in enforced by foreign fighters, mostly Arab orgin or western born militants. Ahmed Godane used foreign members to eliminate his rivals during his long reign. On that scenario, those same foreigners, made the call to join Deash. Since Al-Qaeda is a spent force, this is the logical step to gain fighters and weapons from outside.
The biggest question is how the so called Somali intelligence or the ever present foreign intelligence, especially the Americans , missed this huge movements of men and weapons to Puntland. The estimates between those in Mudug and Nugaal are over 500 men. According to local people , their boats with men and arms were docking for the last two days. Where is the Drone. There is something fishy about this. Personally , I would not discount the statement of the interior minister.
They probably will not survive in the open plains of Mudug , so my guess is that they are heading to the Galgala mountains of Bari. My advice to Puntland is this:
1- The Puntland forces and other Somali forces , including those from Galmudug , must move very quickly before the extremists move to the inland and major cities. You must move before they bribe the venerable elders who may have never seen a hundred dollar bills or have certain grudges against the local administration.
2- Never, ever allow the Amisom forces to join this fight. They could lend equipment to the effort, but never introduce any foreign forces to this fight.
3- In this kind of war the support of the people is very crucial. Insurgency, whether Islamic, tribal or political will not survive without the locals, and the locals must reject and fight this menace without hesitation.
4-Ask the local people to move away and abandon this al-Shabaab held towns in order to minimize collateral damage.
5-Finally, do not allow them access to relocate to another region or give them a passage to the mountains. This is the biggest threat that any community faces , so you must not play politics or show incompetence. Try to eliminate while it is fragile.

with all due respect , why not go to the hate Islam channel, definitely there are many in the net. I would not go to animal right channel, or atheist channel or the evangelical dial. Culture and conquest, the biggest form of invasion has been always the norm. The late Somaali literature Guru and teacher , Muuse Galaal, was asked by the national geography in 1982, about the Somali national boundary. His answer was : Geeluhu waa saynis yahan, Xuduudisana wuu yaqaanaa, Bari iyo Woqooyi markuu u dhaqaaqo badda ayaa soo celisa, Xagaa iyo Koonfur markuu ka gudbo ee uu Kukuuyada u Dhawaadana Dhobeyda ayaa soo celisa.
The Kenyan land you are referring is Somali lands. A quarter of the Sawahili land is ours. The first Prime Minister C/rashiid Sharmaarke , discussing the missing Somali territories said : "We are people kept to gather by culture, language and poetry, when we cross to Ethiopia , Kenya or Djibouti, we are not crossing or going to foreign lands, but we meet our Somali brothers divided by colonial boundaries."
I do not buy when Kenyans saying that they have Somali refugees. These refugees inhabit NFD, the original land of ours. Xabad , nations are culturally or traditionally superior from one another. As believers, we believe Allah created all humans as equal to one another, but in terms of collective nations, have different history and traditions that gives them unique prospective of how they face challenges.
Britain will always be better than Spain in terms laws and wealth. The Germans will have more technical know how than other central Europeans, and if war comes between France and Germany , we all know who will prevail. The same could be said about Somalis, Swahili's and Abyssinians. We the Somali nomads could conquer our neighbors easily in terms of trade and war. It is given. That is why I can not accept the idea of Sawahili Kenyans or Ugandans pacifying Somalia. It is like Greeks peace keepers patrolling London.
The future Somali leader should be someone who understands the Somali creed , historical backgrounds and it's history in the horn. Saalax, we all know Siilaanyo aggravated the clan issues that was cooking under the current, but you can not possibly support a warlord Suldaan. Siilaanyo may have done a lot of mistakes, but this time , he is at least up holding the law by denying " Budhcad Hubaysan" to target the police.
You can attack or speak against the politicians , but the police is a sacred institution. Without the police , you will have anarchy, Who can catch the armed criminal at night or those who would like to take laws in their own hand (the vigilantes).
Tribal insurgency or the regional ones could be explained, but armed gangs taking the law in their own hand is a dangerous path. Since when are people allowed to take their 20 hector village and joined their tribal brethren's. . I agree. Why waste young men brain washed by Aweys, and Atom. The idea that a middle level leader like Atom could easily being transferred to the gulf is a question mark. What is so special about a man waging war in Puntland mountains for the last five years. This Government is not only incompetent, but it is really confused. Last week after the a half dozen bombing of Hotels, restaurants and public places I Mogadishu, they so called security ( golaha Amaanka), had a meeting to fix the problem. They all agreed that the nation security of the capital will be handled by the regional administration.
You can not delegate your responsibility to secure the nations capital . The local level districts and their small police contingent do not have the capacity to fight insurgents. This President has done his best. He may have presided the opening of Mogadishu airport and other developments during his term, and we thank him for his efforts. Having said that, the time has come for an extraordinary leader to tackle these tough issues including security problems. In 2012, We were all expecting that extraordinary leader , but some how Hassan got job. We were patient with him for the last four years, but the time has come for him to retire and give someone else the chance to lift Somalia. If he comes back with backing of these foreign money, Somalia is doomed. Taasi waa ummaddu hakala tagto. Waa iga digniin.

" Ninkii Dhalaalayaba , Nin Baa Dhoobada Ugu Jira". That saying is from the Bay region of Somalia. That means the shiny good looking man have some one cleaning for him. In the real world to shine , one must be in the ditch by himself.
Walaahi, , regardless of what kind of government people get, unless this culture of shining and living large without hard work must change.
During the military government, those who obeyed the law and worked hard in the work place , were called " Guulwadayaal". The system must punish those who do not produce. In Somalia, You could see someone unemployed for a ten years and still able to chew "Qaad", and live a normal life . He may even have many children and still survive, because jobs , even for those who work mean nothing.
You really need a real revolution to change the way we work and live.

Well , they have been leaving like this since immemorial , this was how our ancestors lived one thousand years ago, hundred years ago and are still living the same way. Someone should have introduced them the modern technics of grazing and animal trade.
They chase these camels all day, they do not ride as a transport, they do not get their meat, and the milk they are getting is insignificant. They probably just proud of having camels (reerkaasi geel badan buu leeyahay). These camels are worth tens of thousands of dollars, they should have sold them and create a new lives for their families. In my live I have never seen a rich camel herder.
The main issue is who is going to teach them. There is no government or any other businessman who could show them a different way of doing things. Rooming the land is all they know. They are known to be tough, independent and free. No one can subdue them in their own homeland. They could be good soldiers . Just like the typical Vietnamese or Korean is a rice farmer, the Somalis are pastoral nomads and poor farmers. In order for them to abandon their life style, we must introduce, urban industrialization, modern farming and all sort of jobs to replace this camel chasing.
The problem is where is the so called educated Somalis who would have directed their culture and energy in different directions. Cattle ranchers are the richest people in the western hemisphere, but who is going to copy them. You do not need to reinvent the wheel, just copy the whole thing.
As you alluded I the Prozac thread, you do not need building hotels or export and import , we need real trades people who could change the way people live.

Malister, convicting and video taping of the firing squad of these teenage boys won't resolve the problem. The current chief of the national intelligence service Mr. C/Rahman Tuuryare made his name as the chairman of the military court. He oversaw the fire squad shooting of more than ten Al-Shabaab teenagers and boys. It made him elevate to NIS chief, but never resolved the problem. Keep the in jail and try to learn as much as possible. Why are you rushing?. Why are they parading these killers in the media before the case even goes to court?.
Who are the handlers of these boys?, what have you learned from their custody?. They paraded this man Hassan Hanafi, as the one who was behind the killing of at least 25 journalists. The biggest and most shocking killings of the journalists happened during the Ethiopian occupation of Mogadishu. Both Horn Afric and Shabelle media were critics of the Transitional Federal government and Ethiopian forces, yet this man and his so called Al-Shabaab connection killers targeted them. Why?.
I am not interested in this useful killer and his confessions, I want the big fish that was pulling the strings. We need information.

The other point in the document that we should concentrate is the place that the election (selection)is taking place. Holding the selection I Mogadishu is an un fair advantage to those boys including Baadiyow, Cosoble and Hassan Sheekh.
With Hotel bombings and drive by shooting , it is difficult to campaign against Hassan Sheekh. During last election, four out six were Mogadishu boys. WE need to hold the selection in another save Somali city, probably Garoowe, since it is the only peaceful city in the south central. Those who are campaigning must not fear from unknown assailants.
