  1. Did he just say the announcement was fake and the airspace is still managed by outsiders?
  2. Somaliland police won't ask questions if they see you with "Western" haircut. Your head will be shaved off.
  3. Galbeedi, I think his base is very angry and feels betrayed.
  4. That is a likely scenario. What is striking is the inability of Farmaajo's government to control, monitor or give orders to a large segment of the armed groups in Mogadishu. The old clan militia system is replaced by salaried mercenaries with independent command structure. Farmaajo spoke too soon. He should have let his deputies do all the talking.
  5. I don't know if there is much to be gained from Indian companies? I have never seen them establish anything groundbreaking in other countries. Ethiopia should focus on China and Turkey as main actors with all others being "extras". OO, perhaps you can shed light on the activities of Indian companies in Ethiopia.
  6. I don't know how much of the 30 million is allocated for agency processing fee/service. But, if you take the $30 million projected revenue and give each of the original 18 regions of Somalia an equal amount, it is enough money to build city schools, roads and useful infrastructure every year. "Hawada" belongs to every village. What about money from all previous years? That is anywhere from $400 million to $810 million depending on how you do the back calculations, minus the fees. Is that money gone forever?
  7. Maakhiri, Caydiid was all the above you said in the end, but this speech gives some perspective. What if Manifesto allowed Caydiid to run the country? Would the country be in such a terrible situation today?
  8. ^^ Very good point. But if there is an air disaster and Somaliland refuses to cooperate, it would damage Somaliland's credibility and standing in the region. Somaliland's airspace may become off limits to international air travel which will have a huge impact on Somaliland's economy and the booming Hargeisa/Duba/Djibouti/Addis travel business.
  9. I missed that. Old_Observer, can you tell to us how you understood the words of our beloved sister Barwaaqo?
  10. Egypt is run by a monster who turned the entire Egyptian media into frightened sycophant. No one dares to question the master and his policies.
  11. Even if Mr. Bihi tells them it is over, they may not go anywhere. The sun is good for the ageing bones. This is madadaalo for them. It keeps them relevant. It keeps them busy. The two professors are getting pension every month from America, and have no kids to raise at this time. Life is really good. Why not enjoy sunny Hargeisa as a seasonal retirement spot while staying relevant through the media every month.

    Morning Thread

Missed @Bluelicious Was going to ask her about her experience with herbal teas. Starting to drink herbal tea. My aunt brought spices from Somalia and they are different from the ones in North America. Even the cinnamon smells different. Must be a variety.
  13. You didn't say the spot and city? I may fly just for the tea as well. Spill the beans saxib!!
  14. This report is a rehash of what we have been discussing here. That reporter Mr. Billow must be SOL member.
  15. OO, I heard that 30% - 40% of Tigray people is Muslim, especially in Eritrea. Is that number accurate?
  16. If tensions escalate, the Egyptians will put all that 4.8 billion to waste by bombing the dam. Ethiopia must engage Egypt through sincere dialogue.
