  1. It is time to get to the bottom of this. Sometimes our people get emotional and miss the details. If Kenya is knowingly annexing Somali land, then this is tantamount to a war declaration.
  2. I concur. The community in Maakhir is overwhelmingly pro-Puntland. Let's hope Jamal is visiting the region to assess its development needs rather than indulge in typical Somali minister self-promotion. The SFG recently got a significant monetary pledge from the US and Qatar, therefore any development projects must be fairly distributed to all regions.
  3. It is an interesting development. Somaliland is well aware that Puntland ministers visit the region all the time, but is there more on the line for Somaliland now that a Federal minister has joined the list?

    Morning Thread

Back to work with a clean desk (no paper) and zero projects (all done). It is a good day.
  5. Washington gave Israel a green light to assassinate Qassem Suleimani, the commander of the Quds Force, the overseas arm of Iran's Revolutionary Guard, Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida reported on Monday. Al-Jarida, considered an Israeli mouthpiece, quotes a source in Jeruslaem as saying that "there is an American-Israeli agreement" that Suleimani is a "threat to the two countries' interests in the region." The agreement between Israel and the United States, according to the report, comes three years after the Washington thwarted an Israeli attempt to kill the general. The report says Israel was "on the verge" of assassinating Soulemani three years ago, near Damascus, but the United States warned the Iranian leadership of the plan, revealing that Israel was closely tracking the Iranian general. read more: https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/1.832387?utm_source=Push_Notification&utm_medium=web_push&utm_campaign=General
  6. Electric cars will wipe out oil demand equal to Iran's output by 2025, Barclays says
  7. Maakhiri, considering what happened in Ukraine, that is the most likely reason. The Houthis have long-range missiles, and the Saudi-UAE axis controls the skies.
  8. Thanks for the information. Guess what? Qatar Airways has just flown over Hargeisa heading to Doha (QTR1438).
  9. Miskiin, I was confused as to why Kheyre and other officials appear cosy with UAE in public, but complain about the UAE through the media. Aren't they in control of the country? There is no army in Mogadishu that will defend UAE if Khayre's government asks the UAE ambassador to leave and/or close all operations.
  10. Somaliland army doesn't have anything that comes close to threatening or downing a commercial airliner.
  11. Jordan's King was one of the few Arab leaders who showed up in Istanbul after Erdogan's call for an emergency conference on Jeresulam. The plot against him is a payback for having an independent foreign policy.
  12. The unintended (OR intended) consequence is that this is an economic boom for Hargeisa barbers, albeit a short one.
  13. Old Observer and Galbeedi, the quick response from Farmaajo may send the message he was tacitly involved in the other raid.
  14. Did he just say the announcement was fake and the airspace is still managed by outsiders?
  15. Somaliland police won't ask questions if they see you with "Western" haircut. Your head will be shaved off.
  16. Galbeedi, I think his base is very angry and feels betrayed.
  17. That is a likely scenario. What is striking is the inability of Farmaajo's government to control, monitor or give orders to a large segment of the armed groups in Mogadishu. The old clan militia system is replaced by salaried mercenaries with independent command structure. Farmaajo spoke too soon. He should have let his deputies do all the talking.
  18. I don't know if there is much to be gained from Indian companies? I have never seen them establish anything groundbreaking in other countries. Ethiopia should focus on China and Turkey as main actors with all others being "extras". OO, perhaps you can shed light on the activities of Indian companies in Ethiopia.
