  1. many of these rappers dont know much, ie high school drop outs, they just use islam and islamic words if it rymes, simple as that and they are trying to kick knowledge, for example that mc who calls himself rakim allah, istakhfura allah! i was into all that back in the day and have come across many more rappers who use islam in their lyrics such as: nas, pac, wu, az,rea, cnn, gza, talib kwalib, the tribe, the roots, mos def, many others who i cant seem to recall

  5. arsenal must have the highest growing somali supporters over the last few years. i didnt any a few yrs ago now they all cliam they have been supporting them since the qoxoonti days! eat humble pie, cant win at home in 4 champ league games and u think u gone win it, give me a break. shuj, totti aint sh*t (sorry about the profanity) come on arses, even liverpool beat roma at home last year, lol
  6. let see, looks like a simple q but u really have to think about it. from my own personal experiences, i would say as a somali we are more of a simple society, not too bothered about money as long as we are happy, somalis are a closer ppl generally who can talk to each other whenever and where ever, even though we may not know each other. we turn up to weddings without a clue as to who they lucky couple are, lol, we like to fight each other, there is more so i will let others carry on
  7. salaama calaycum, interesting topic, i agree with every one of u guys, a strong ummah needs strong unity, we should all be working towards achieving this unity and using it as a vehicle in achieving our objective and helping those who have more extremist views to join us and disown them, remember at the end of the day allah (swt) is the judge! insha-allah this will be soon! ameen!
  8. very interesting bro, thanx for sharing, will look it up! a funny thing happened to me the other day, my freind broke is hand, dont asks how, so i took him to the a and e as u do, we were there for 7 hrs, from 12am to 7am, there were all these white ppl there, so where i live its natural for ppl to just say hi and chat, even if they dont know u. So we were chattin away to all the white ppl, just having a laugh. It was time for fajur praryer so we put our jackets down and prayed fajur. As soon as they saw us pray, they became kinda awkward as they had no idea we were muslims. We started talkin about islam, its principals, terrorism, the iraq crisis, when they listened to what we had to say, many of them became more and more curious and undertood more at the same time. so when that ignorance bridge is crossed it becomes more easier. Just found that some brothers have organised an islamic course, specifically aimed at the non believers. workers in the city can register on the course and be enlightened by islam. Article below Laying to rest the myths about our Muslim brothers IN today's climate, an understanding of Islam is not just useful, it is essential. That's the message from dozens of city workers as they took part in Sheffield's first Muslim Culture Course - designed to inform, educate and dispel the myths surrounding the religion. The participants, mainly public sector workers from South Yorkshire including nurses, social workers and police officers, took part in the course. They were given a quiz on the religion and treated to a trip to the specially-built mosque on Industry Road. Later in the day the workers sampled Indian cuisine and took part in workshops based on Muslim prayer. Staff from organisations across the county made use of the event because of the growing Muslim community in South Yorkshire. The last census showed that ethnic minorities comprise 9.9 per cent of the UK's population. Maria Tonks, an equality and diversity officer from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, said the service was eager to learn more about Islam. She said: "We are anxious to meet Government guidelines on the number of ethnic minorities we employ. "And if we can understand more about their culture the more we can accommodate them when they become our employees." Maria also said that with the possible war with Iraq and the ever-present threat of terrorism it was also useful to dispel the common myths. "There's a lot of myths surrounding Islam at the moment. "People seem to think the majority of Muslims are in some way connected to Al Qaeda and that obviously isn't true. "Sheffield is becoming a multi-cultural city and the more we understand each other the better we can work together." The events, which have also been held in West Yorkshire and London, have been organised by Kaushar Tai on behalf of the Muslim Association. Kaushar said the day revealed some surprising information about Islam - especially its close links with Christianity. And he added that the 110 workers who would take part in the courses would leave with an essential knowledge of the religion. Each participant paid £45 for the seven-hour course. During the talks and workshops at the Muslim Welfare House of Sheffield, in Broomhill, all participants had to remove their shoes. The ladies were also asked to wear a headscarf and trousers or an ankle length skirt. Phil Yelland, a 41-year-old social worker, said he was more than happy to make the most of the day. Phil, who has worked in social services for 12 years, said: "I am here today for professional and personal reasons. "There is a large number of Muslims in Sheffield and it's important that we begin to learn more about them. "Courses like today's will help us enhance our understanding of the culture and allow us to improve our service to the ethnic minorities. "That's why there are a lot of public sector workers here - it will help us generally improve the service." 10 March 2003
  9. yeah bro, i've heard that boy is a big time farax now, where he could have been playing in the prem, but hey one day insha-allah. what we need to remember is, alot of the players who could have already made it but did'nt just came from a war back home, so their life was relatively unstable when compared to those born here and those are now looking good to play pro in the future, lets hope they know the score and get on with it!
  10. lol, ban gaad? never gonna happen. the govnt in the uk dont want to ban it for one simple reason, the somalis are not taking the white ppl jobs!
  11. lol@shujul, if he was in the moroon red of roma, he would be the best can opener!
  12. so thats what the film thats constently on sky movies is all about!lol, i just see the title and turnover!
  13. dont like to hate ppl, but for the uk, i will make an exception. if all u southerners in the uk, if u think the women are ugly down there, try comming up north, ever heard of the term pale and obese?lol
  14. princess, come on girl, get a grip! the whole notion of imprisoning one of our brothers was to undermine the muslim ummah in the uk. have u actually heard what other kafur organisation say in their speaches, such the bnp, the uk hindu society and the jews, until u have heard what the rest say, then u cant judge this brother!!! ps he may be out in 4.5yrs on good behaviour insha-allah!
  15. baaniyal, could,nt agree with u more mate! shuji, i think u need some new glasses or a bigger tv screen cos i'm sure i have been watching a completly diff ball game to you over the last 10 yrs or so! totti is nothing!!!! full stop, like i said hes good but not that good, u need to start judging players when they play in the league, euro and internationals, which totti has not done much in! anyway lets agree to disagree, we will see how the season pans out!
  16. players who win this award are often those who play well in their domestic league, euro competitions and with their respective international team. ie roberto carlos of real madrid- champ league and wc winner mickel ballak- champ league final and took the germans to the world cup final even beckam had a good year, wc 1/4rs, champ league semi, that goal against greece and the argies so who in seria a can actually say that they have done well on all fronts (domestic, euro, international), no seria teams came within a mile of champ league success in the last 3yrs, hence european player of the year!
  17. can you not be educated and run yr own business? why is it one over the other? cant u run a business and study at the same time? cant u use your educated mind to create a business? why are we limiting our selves to just one aspect?

  19. shujul, i know we may disagree on a few footballing matters but this one takes the biscuit!!!!! how on earth can u say raul is a donkey? out of all the strikers in european football he has been the most consistant over the years, he has been there and done that so to speak, hes been around since he was 17 and is still at the top, but i suppose totti is better yeah? baaniyal: yeah i hate thet pippo too, dont know how he made it!
  20. so what business ideas do we have then???? for me its got to be property development, i hope to buy a house soon for cheap, do it up then sell on making a profit. U know start off small then maybe into bigger things insha-allah. so any one wanna help with the initial capital let me know, lol. Nah serious, developing derilict land/property is a potential gold mine so snap up what ever property u can before that area is developed by a bigger firm and prices rise as soon as they get planning permission! as we can all see at the moment, the govnt is trying to develope what ever brownfield/derelict land they can get their hands on. As soon this land gets planning permission, the prices of houses and flats that sorround it rocket. So if u live close to an area which is currently being developed, yr house is worth more than it was before the development. Which is not a good thing unless u already own the house. just a bit of info for ya, my dissertation subject! peace!
