Do you remeber the conference a few months ago (Islamic Nations) in the Saudi? Repetitions of helping Philastine and fighting extremism (are they to blame for any of the extremism rife in many a young today?)were loud and clear by all nations. Not any mention of unity (how to achieve it), education and development nor political issues were discussed. People were starving in Niger at the time (and probably still are). "Unity of the Arab and Islamic Ummah Why the seperation of Arab and Islam???

 @Katrina, all that effort and for what? sister i was not referring to you but JB, please re-read my post You, my dear man might surpass me in politics or other matters but when it comes to the culture, language and people of that region and the above country in particular you’re talking to the real McCoy We have something in common, i shall be boarding a flight bound for Jeddah on the 16th IA  JB, i apologise for 'missing' the other part of his marriage to a 13 year old and thus apologise for questioning your comprehension skills on that point. However, the lack of comprehension on the manipulation of the Sheria on the divorcing of wives and not recognising that this is wrong, even after our dear Katrina highlighted it, still stands. Why is it that Mr Jibis (new to Islam) seems to be the only one being sensible here? Calling an old man a pedophile when the marriage is Halal but then do not mention anything about the divorcing of his other wives seems illogical. How many old Somali men do you know who have had similar marriages, how many of us/or our parents are products of pedophilic of old men??? Have a nice day

^^Does it matter who he was referring to if what he was saying is wrong?? Misinformed views should be addressed and not ignored.

Shura members want ban on women drivers lifted By Mariam Al Hakeem, Correspondent Riyadh: Some members of the Shura Council criticised the statement of the Shura President Shaikh Saleh Bin Humeid, in which he stated that the council did not have the authority to address the issue. This has triggered a new debate over women drivers in Saudi Arabia. "The Shura has been given enough powers by the kingdom's political leadership to discuss and take a decision in this regard," the members observed while renewing their call to take the initiative to get the ban on women drivers lifted. The Shura rejected last week a proposal presented by one of its members, Mohammad Al Zulfa, to lift the ban. The new traffic law, which was approved by the Shura, did not address the women's driving provision. Addressing the Shura Council meeting yesterday, Dr Khaleel Bin Abdullah Al Khaleel, a member of the Shura, said that skipping of an issue like women's driving on the pretext of leaving some matters to the government, will reduce the powers of the Shura and dampen hopes of its ability to fulfill the development needs of the country and aspirations of the people. Supported by several members of the council, Dr Al Khaleel made a strong plea for looking into the matter again and taking a decision on the ban. "There is no justification for skipping a debate on the issue as the Shura is the legitimate body to tackle such an issue on which there were serious divisions in Saudi society. There is a difference between making decisions and taking decisions. As a consultative body, the Shura should initiate deliberations on the issue and take appropriate decisions," he said while referring to Shaikh Saleh's remarks that the council has no authority to discuss the issue because of a fatwa issued by the Senior Scholars' Commission, which is the kingdom's highest legal authority to take a decision on the matter. Al Zulfa introduced his proposal to lift the ban last year as part of a wider traffic law that was approved by the Shura on February 12 but failed to address the issue of women's driving. The Shura rejected the proposal, saying that women's driving was skipped over among other reasons because of a religious edict issued by the Senior Scholars' Commission on the matter. "The Shura has no powers to review the matter unless a decision to look into it was taken by the kingdom's top leadership," Shaikh Saleh said in his statement. The issue sparked a heated debate in the local media with the remarks of Culture and Information Minister Eyad Madani at the recently concluded Jeddah Economic Forum. He said that there was "nothing in the Saudi legislation that forbids Saudi women to apply for a driving licence. If the traffic director turns down your request, approach him and try to sort out your problem," he said. Gulf News

Israel blamed for weak Muslim Ummah By Mariam Al Hakeem, Correspondent Riyadh: Muslim World League chief asserted that the non-adherence to Sharia and the presence of Israel in the heart of the Muslim world are major factors that have weakened the Muslim Ummah (nation). "The failure in realising economic integration, lack of mutual consultation system (shura), and a major part of the Muslim world being kept out of industrial production and influence of international politics are other major factors," Dr Abdullah Al Turki, secretary-general of the Makkah-based (MWL) said. Dr Al Turki made these remarks while presenting a working paper at a major seminar held on the sidelines of the 21st annual national heritage and cultural festival (Al Janadriya). The seminar was conducted on the "Unity of the Arab and Islamic Ummah: Future perspective," which is the theme of this year's Janadriya festival organised by the Saudi National Guard. More than 300 writers, intellectuals, thinkers and cultural figures from the Muslim world are taking part in the annual cultural extravaganza. Dr Al Turki said that the West could exploit Muslims? weakness through dominating over the intellectual, economic, political, and cultural as well as media fields in the Muslim World. According to MWL chief, Muslims can regain their past glory only through holding fast to the teachings of Islam and stand united in facing the challenges. "We should chalk out a comprehensive plan to get out of the current situation and march forward to gain the lofty position that we held for centuries. For this, we have to realise our true position and draw out an action plan to overcome our weakness and defects, as well as to take advantage of positive factors," he pointed out. Abdullah flays idea of clash of civilisations Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz condemned the idea that the world was in the midst of a clash of civilisations between East and West urging Arab and Muslim intellectuals to foster better understanding. "I condemn the idea of a clash of civilisations and call for it to be replaced with the idea of peaceful and constructive coexistence between civilisations," the king told a group of Arab and Muslim thinkers taking part in the annual Al Janadriya cultural festival outside Riyadh. "I call for the next era to be one for a true dialogue between nations whereby each side respects the other and their sanctities, beliefs and identity." Gulf News

Death urged for man who raped minor daughter By Mariam Al Hakeem, Correspondent Riyadh: Members of the Saudi Society for Human Rights feel that the man who raped his minor daughter several times should be stoned to death for committing the crime, saying that "he deserves no mercy or leniency". The Saudi man was arrested last Thursday in Madinah for sexually assaulting his 12-year-old daughter. The culprit confessed to the officials of the Investigation and Public Prosecution Authority that he had been forcibly assaulting the girl sexually over a long period of time. Members of the Saudi Society for Human Rights visited the girl yesterday before she was taken to the Social Care Centre to avoid a further repeat of the abuse. Dr Suhaila Zainul Abideen, a member of the society, said that the culprit should be stoned to death at a public place in the presence of people so that it could be an exemplary punishment and a warning to all parents and others against committing such crimes. "This is an alarming situation. Therefore, it is mandatory to give the death sentence to those who commit such brutal crimes so as to ensure protection of other children in the society. "It was embarrassing to learn that the child had been subjected to all sorts of harassment to satisfy that man's lust," Dr Suhaila told Asharq Al Awsat newspaper. Dr Suhaila said that she does not think that the man was suffering from any mental disorders that needed treatment. Dr Khalid Bin Ali Al Mushaiqeh, professor of Sharia faculty at Al Qasseem University, said that there are two types of punishment for rape under the Islamic Sharia. The first is 100 lashes and deportation for one year if the culprit is an unmarried man. In the case of married men, stoning to death is the punishment. This punishment was in the case of those who are not blood relatives of the victims. "The punishment for the culprit who is a blood relative is much more severe. He should be stoned to death whether he is married or unmarried," he said. Exploitation 25% of children face sexual harassment Dr Wafa Mahmoud Tayyiba, a member of the Saudi Society for Human Rights, said that nearly 25 per cent of children in the kingdom are facing sexual harassment from either relatives or others. "The society is currently planning to launch an awareness campaign among mothers to take care of their children and protect them from being victims of such harassment," she said. Gulf News

I read something in the paper about Dominic Wilkins and Charles Barkeley getting all-time awards??? These were playing when i started watching the NBA in the late 80 to early 90s

For once i'm routing for the Gunners. I really that they dont try to go 'toe to toe' with Real because they will just be taken apart. They need to slow the game down, pack the midfield, waste time and try to nick a goal. As for LFC, i do not do predictions.

JB, please read below Al-Saieri said, “I first got married to my cousin when I was 14 years old because of my father He was 14 and she 13, your argument of old fat arab taking advantage of young girl is flawed. This is common to this day in Arabia (youngsters marrying) and there is nothing wrong with that as our deen does not forbid it. Also please re-read,,, Alexus & Ubahaan shame on you!!! You accuse CG of denying the islamic ways. What about you two? Is what this man is doing islamic?? Please do tell us. His goal is to marry 60 wives. He's intentionally manipulated a sharia law to justify his personal pleasures, ego and fetish. Is it legal? yes. Is it right? No. It's a game to this old man per his words. Everyone sure as hell knew what CG meant but yet you both decide to take it out of content and nit pick. quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Every time the wives hear that Al-Saieri has found a new prospect, they begin wondering who is next to go. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 54 women are divorced for no reason other than to make room for one more new p!ssy, disgusting abuse of sharia law. Does this behavior emulate our prophet's (PBUH) intentions? Ubahaan, the prophet (PBUH) didn't have sex with Aisha (RA) at 9 yrs old...so stop twisting around facts to justify your point!!!!! PS. Wasn't going to post about a such a sick man but your attack on CG was hypocritical!! Now, what your suggesting, ie Islam condones/allows what this man is doing is simply WRONG. Please know what you are talking about before commenting on these issues (anything relating to Islam). Western media not is the most reliable source A little 'comprehension' would'nt hurt aswell.

Sayyid So you apologise to one nomad (i didnt mean it anyway is what a child would say) then you go ahead and disrespect another! I'm getting fed up with your nonsense of advocating Islam (to your understanding) in one breath and then disrespecting your fellow 'muslims' in another. Grow up saxib and have some respect for others. Your opinions are exactly that ie 'yours only', no need to be name calling and disrespectful simply because someone disagrees with you. Back to the game today, Liverbullsh!t against The Gunners. If we get a draw it would be good, a win even better but a loss I would be somewhat dissappointed but not too disheartened as it is Anfield where the fans swear at players' mothers. Only Man Utd players saxib, this is a big game for us, if we win it will give us a boost ahead of Man Utd and Benfica next week (i think). Staying up until 12am for the game which will finish at 2am, work at 8am, gonna have to soldier it, hope to imitate Fowler on the beach tomorrow afternoon, enjoy the weather
